2014 Golden Globes; Get Kate Beckinsale​’s Hair Look

  • ·         Start by spraying Moroccanoil Root Boost directly on to the roots of damp hair. The spray will help add body and hold and it’s a great way to set the style in. It’ll also make hair more pliable and easier to work with.
  • ·         Start blow drying your hair using a skeleton brush; use your fingers to create texture and additional volume. Once the hair is fully dry, separate into a horseshoe shaped section (the part between both temples & your crown area) and clip the top section away.
  • ·         Pull the bottom section into a low, side ponytail at the nape of the neck and secure with an elastic. Then coil & wrap the tail into a messy bun.  You can even tug a few strands out to create naturally falling bits and to loosen the bun. Secure it with bobby pins.
  • ·         Take the hair from the top section and backcomb the roots using Moroccanoil Boar Bristle Teasing Brush to maximize the volume at the crown and create a slightly disheveled texture.
  • ·         Secure the top section into the existing, loose bun with bobby pins.

Finishing Touches:

  • ·         Mist the hair with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray to add shine and long-lasting hold. Spray a little on finger tips and work it into the single strands to help define. Secure the final look with a few more pins. You’re good to go!

A student at the Fashion Institute of Technology, Afiya believes she has what it takes to win the competition with her knowledge in front of and behind the camera.

Age: 22

Hometown: Brownsville, TX

With a larger-than-life personality and flair for the dramatic, Alana always has a smile on her face and loves to make people laugh.  A former track star, she gave up multiple scholarships to pursue her dream of being a model.  Although she is new to the modeling world with only two years of local experience, Alana is confident that she can go all the way.

Empowering through Beauty Expo 2014: “A CELEBRATION OF BEAUTY” will take place onJanuary 18, 2014 from 5:30-11:00 p.m. at the luxurious Trumbull Marriott located on 180 Hawley Lane, Trumbull, CT 06611. ETB Expo 2014 is supporting Empowering Through Beauty Inc., (ETBINC), a 501c3 non-profit with the mission to empower women and girls to live a  vibrant future by restoring hope, dignity, and self-confidence.

Empowering Through Beauty Expo 2014: A CELEBRATION OF BEAUTY, is the first  premier, star-studded charity event of its kind in Connecticut—an  extravagant, deserving, fun-filled celebration, complete with everything women need to celebrate their beauty–celebrities, shopping, pampering, inspiration, live entertainment, and of course, glam. The exciting expo will feature fabulous women of empowerment such as Grammy Nominated  R&B Sensation, Jazmine Sullivan and her mother, interior decorator/creative director, Pam Sullivan, in addition to Grammy Nominated singer and Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married” and “Marriage Counselor” actor, Anthony “Tony” Grant, and Own Network “Love thy Neighbor,” Red carpet host and actress, Trisha Mann GrantJen the Pen, formerly of Love & Hip Hop NY, CEO of GoldStar Properties/ ‘Women Doing It Big’ Founder, Tiana Von Johnson, Miss Teen USA 2012 Logan West, Success coach, Marge PicciniDebbie Wright of Project Closet, Ena Moales of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, and ETB EXPO CEO/President, Tanisha Akinloye. Guests will also experience the live musical vibrations rendered by Lamone, as he performs his hit new single, “High Off You,” along with Tony  Grant who will also perform his breakout single, “I’m Coming Home.”

ETB Expo CEO and Hairstylist, Tanisha Akinloye’s passion for beauty was the inspiration behind ETB Expo 2014. She states, “Sharing, unifying, and celebrating my beauty with others is what I was born to do.”

The lavish affair will serve as a platform for beauty enthusiasts to  celebrate and showcase their work, while creating a unique platform to  honor industrious beauty pros such Anthony Cymery “Joe the Barber” of Haircuts For Hugs among others, that have touched the lives of those in need.

At ETB Expo 2014, guests will have the opportunity to receive glam makeovers at the beauty bar serviced by hair/art sculpturer, Bethany “Queen B.” Bell of QB & Co., celebrity makeup artist,Rodney Jon, and Brush Salon. The expo will also serve as a dynamic networking mix and mingle for  elite taste makers, movers, and shakers. Fashion enthusiasts will get to experience a live runway show featuring the whimsical designs by Marquette Collection by Ty’Ron Perrin along with tunes spun by DJ Herman Ham.

Pam Sullivan, mother to R&B Sensation, Jazmine Sullivan states, “Beauty and self-esteem has been of a particular interest in our household  since I gave birth to my daughter, and since she decided to pursue a  career in the music business,” Pam Sullivan. “So I am honored to be a featured woman of empowerment along with the other influential women participating in ETB Expo 2014.”

Like mother, like daughter, Jazmine Sullivan, is also looking forward to the beauty expo. “I am excited to attend the expo with my mother, and I am so happy to meet the fine supports of this great cause.”

Power couple, actor and actress, Tony and Trisha Grant, also revel their excitement to be apart of the expo. “We are honored to be the red carpet hosts, as well as the MC’s for  Empowering Through Beauty Expo. Clear Your Skin With The Mud of the Sea

In my career in salons and as a beauty blogger I come across some very interesting and unique products that I love to try and write about.  For Christmas 2013, my mom gave me a very interesting product made from the Dead Sea Mud in Israel.  From Adoiva Natural Skin Care, you can have smooth, flawless, sexy skin all from the use of mud.

Adovia Natural Skin Care Dead Sea Mud Soap is the go to soap for acne prone skin, and also if you have eczema, or psoriasis.  It is enriched with century old dead sea mud that will remove excess oil and dirt that will clear up breakouts and help prevent new ones.  Infused with minerals,  the Dead Sea Mud soap will keep skin, hydrated and moisturized without over drying.

Now, this soap is great for both face and body but with my sensitive skin sometimes a product won’t irritate my body but will irritate the skin on my face.  I decided to give it a try. I used the soap on my problem areas on my face and worked it up into a lather. After giving it a good 1-2 minute massage I rinsed my face with cool water and patted my face dry.  (Hint: it is always best to rinse your face with cool water to help close your pores and make your skin look refreshed and always, always, always PAT your face dry with a face towel. If you pull or tug the skin on your face it can cause “destress” on your skin that can cause premature wrinkles). In the morning I was surprised that my skin not only looked better but was not irritated in any way.
