Dark circles under your eyes? Vita-K® Treatment for Dark Circles from Freeman Beauty may be just what you’re looking for!

Freeman Beauty has created a professional line of beauty products that really address deep lines and crows feet. In this Vita-K® Professional line they have a product that I have been using for well over a month and have seen some really nice results!

The product I had the pleasure to try was Vita-K® Professional-Dark Circles and it actually helps minimize the dark under eye circles.

Dark circles are a problem I’m frequently asked about, as a makeup artist. It’s a real issue that is often dealt with by using concealers that are too heavy, the wrong shade or consistency, and as a result, can actually draw more attention to the situation. A concealer is a wonderful cosmetic tool to highlight the under eye area, and I wouldn’t be without one, but here is a product that will lessen darkness under the eye.

I’ve found Vita-K® has helped me with not only dark circles, but the elasticity and tone of my under eye area seems to look more firm. I wear less concealer than I used to, and I carry the Vita-K® with me and refresh my eyes during the day to keep a moist smooth look that I find really softens the fine lines that occur in the eye area due to the eye’s thin skin. This product is very light weight, and doesn’t interfere with other products I use on my eyes.

You’re probably wondering how this product works. There are some great ingredients in Vita-K® Professional-Dark Circles:
(Quote) :
• Pro Vita-K Complex™ – combines the remarkable proven benefits of Vitamin K with a unique Amino Acid/Polypeptide Complex proven to significantly improve tone, and elasticity and dramatically reduces the appearance of problem skin conditions with the first application.

• Vitamin K- known to assist in the treatment of bruising as well as in the condition of skin discolorations.

• Mica- reflects light for smooth radiant looking skin.

• Matrixyl 3000- consists of a combination of two pentapeptides known to promote collagen production while stimulating fibroblast cells in the skin, enabling them to significantly reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

• Panthenol- Also known as pro vitamin B5, Panthenol is a humectant, emollient and moisturizer which seals in moisture. (end Quote)

I was impressed to find that this Vita-K® dark circle eye product really has the powerhouse ingredients to deliver results, and hope you consider trying it to help with the frustrating dark circles you may have under your eyes. The Mica in the product has a subtle light reflection that imparts a very attractive youthful look that I really liked.

You can find out about Vita-K® Professional Dark Circles, all of the other fine Vita-K® Professional Products, along with a wide variety of treatment products available at:

The Scent of Style

I was extremely lucky last March when I went to a taping of the Nate Show. Diane von Furstenberg was Nate’s guest. Certainly, iconic designer, Diane von Furstenberg (www.dvf.com) has it all—style, success, fame and most importantly staying power. For decades, she has been synonymous with effortless chic and jet-setting style. From her signature silhouettes to her bold prints, her style mainstay has left an indelible mark on the fashion world. Diane has helped empower women with fashion. She said that she was convinced the success of the wrap dress was due to women of all ages, shapes and sizes looked good in the dress. When we look good, we feel good, and exude confidence.

Nate asked Diane if she was always that confident woman. She laughed and said something to the effect of, ‘We are women, and we are always comparing ourselves to others. I would look at the woman across the room and think of how put together she was, admire her sense of confidence. It was when I realized that she was looking at me thinking how put together and confident that I was, I gained my confidence.’ A sentiment I hope to remember the next time I feel those jabs of insecurity arise. “Being insecure,” said Diane “is a complete waste of time!” Words of wisdom to live by from the great Diane von Furstenberg. And words that I remember any time I feel insecurity creeping up on me!

Now the legendary designer adds another facet to her portfolio—a signature scent. She has infused a lifetime of aspirational style into a deeply personal fragrance that bears the name she was born with: Diane. Bright, glamorous and magnetic, the new scent embodies the unique appeal of both the singular fashion collection and the woman behind it. The perfect complement to every ensemble, Diane is the irresistible finishing touch that makes a style complete. On October 27th, at Sephora in Soho, NYC from 6-8pm, Diane von Furstenberg will host an exclusive event to celebrate her premier perfume, Diane, the designer’s timeless style captured through fragrance. Guests who purchase Diane will have the opportunity to meet the designer and receive her autograph for a priceless keepsake.

Come and meet Fashion legend Diane von Furstenberg as she celebrates her debut fragrance Diane.

Award Winning Actress Courtney Thorne-Smith teams with Allergan, Inc. as a new survey finds how women have new views and questions about the use of Botox® Cosmetic

Since Botox® Cosmetic was approved by the FDA (US Food and Federal Drug Administration) almost 10 years ago, close to 11 million treatments have been administered. Women’s views about Botox® Cosmetic has changed during those ten years, and Allergan,Inc.,maker of Botox® Cosmetic is sharing important information about these new views.

(Quote):
• The number of women considering talking to their doctors about Botox® Cosmetic Treatment has more than quadrupled from 1.3 million in 2002 to 5.8 Million in 2010.

• The number of women who think that Botox® Cosmetic is an effective means for treating frown lines between the eyebrows from 21% when the product was approved to 79% in 2010.

(Quote)
“Women’s understanding and appreciation of BOTOX® Cosmetic has significantly evolved over the past decade, and as the market leader, we continually invest in educational initiatives that provide women with relevant information they need to make well-informed decisions about treatment,” said Colleen McKenna, Senior Marketing Director, Allergan Medical. “Our partnership with actress Courtney Thorne-Smith and the non-profit organization HealthyWomen is our latest initiative to address pressing questions women have about medical aesthetic injectable treatments like BOTOX® Cosmetic.”

Recently I had the pleasure of speaking with Award Winning actress Courtney Thorne-Smith. I asked her about her experience with Botox® Cosmetic. She told me that she had the lines on her forehead between her brows that look like a number “11”. She spoke with her doctor and expressed her need to look as natural as possible, and as an actress, still be able to show expression with her face. She was extremely happy with the results and continues to receive Botox® Cosmetic.

I then asked Courtney about her career and what she was doing at the moment. She was very enthusiastic about being on the Sitcom “Two and a Half Men” again this season, and was looking forward to start taping in October.

Working in film, televison movies, and sitcoms, I was curious about which was her favorite. Courtney really likes sitcoms because it gives her more of a stable schedule. She is married with a son, and she likes to spend time at home, traveling and enjoying time with her friends.

Courtney has also written a book you can purchase called OUTSIDE IN:

I was truly delighted to spend some time with this very talented actress, Mom, and great gal!

It Began With a Promise

Can one person make a difference?? That was the question that Nancy Goodman Brinker found herself asking after the death of her sister Susan G. Komen in 1980. Diagnosed at 33 with breast cancer, Susan fought a valiant battle with the disease. In 1978, when Susan was diagnosed, the only time breast cancer was mentioned in the press was when former First Lady Betty Ford bravely chose to publicize her battle with the disease.  It was a time where no one talked openly about the disease, newspapers and TV balked at printing or mentioning the words breast cancer. There were few treatment options, as little was known of the disease, and there was limited funding committed to finding treatment. There was a sense of isolation, shame, despair, fear, and hopelessness caused by this disease.

Can one person make a difference?  Nancy had promised her older sister Susan that she would do everything she could to end breast cancer.  To fulfill that promise, Nancy founded the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in Susan’s memory in 1982.  In 1983, she founded the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®. Nancy broke the silence around breast cancer, and Komen for the Cure is now the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.

In a matter of years, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® (www.komen.org) is now the world’s largest and most successful education and fundraising event for breast cancer. Nancy’s creativity in raising awareness to the disease led to programs that at the time were revolutionary. She enlisted every segment of society-survivors, families, citizens, businesses, the medical profession, and government leaders, basically anyone she could-to participate in the battle. She pioneered cause-related marketing, allowing millions to participate in the fight against breast cancer and share Komen’s commitment to end the disease forever.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s unwavering advocacy for breast cancer survivors led to new legislation and greater government research funding. It has led to more public awareness with women being proactive, learning more about the disease, symptoms and earlier testing. It has led to changes in insurance. It has led to a change in treatment centers for all people with cancer.  To date, the organization has invested more than $1.9 billion in breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment. Virtually every major advance in breast cancer research has been touched by hundreds of millions of dollars in Komen for the Cure funding.

Can one person make a difference? Nancy’s love for her sister, her passion, her determination in honoring her promise to create a world without breast cancer, shows how much one person can make a difference. In one generation, the organization Nancy founded that bears Susan’s name has changed the world. When you see the words Susan G. Komen for the Cure, be thankful to Susan for making Nancy promise to make a difference, and to Nancy for the courage to educate as all!

Quality and Affordable Pet Care in Manhattan

Manhattan is expensive. We know that! Several years ago, I remember reading that a family living in Manhattan had to make at least $175, 000 a year to have the same standard of living as a family making $50,000 a year in Houston. I wasn’t surprised by this. We have some (if not the) highest cost of real estate, rent, and services in the country. For those of us living here, we know it, and it is the trade-off of living in this magnificent little island that is the corner stone of the world!

Having a rescue cat that is prone to urinary blockages, I have been able to experience some of the city’s emergency veterinary facilities. An experience at Animal Medical a few years ago left me with a desire to never go back again. They needed to see your platinum card before they saw your pet. I was told that he needed to have a variety of tests, which made absolutely no sense. I refused and according to my regular vet, the ones I refused weren’t necessary, and certainly not needed. The bill which would have been more than a year’s rent, and my cat being made into a science experiment was something I did not need to relive.

A blockage this weekend left me with a chance to try NYC Veterinary Specialists. While the vets there were fabulous, the sticker shock wasn’t. Again, it would have amounted to several months’ rent. Having a friend upstate who is a vet, I ran the prices by her. She practically needed smelling salts……..some of the charges were 10X the costs. Even the vets admitted that their costs were astronomical!

Yes, prices in Manhattan are high. Rents are high. There is a mark-up. I get it. But 10x costs? We’ve got protests downtown against corporate greed. Well, corporate greed isn’t just reserved for the Wall Street crowd and companies traded on the exchanges. It is rampant everywhere! In all deference to the protestors and their valiant effort, I think that unless a company’s bottom line is affected, we won’t have change! We need to boycott the companies and places that have these and practices and publicize, patronize and support those companies and places that are fair. If there was an XYZ company that everyone boycotted, the results in their bottom line will be noticed by executives and shareholders much quicker than the Wall Street protestors will be.

I found myself  faced with having to put a relatively young, amazingly healthy (with the exception of the blockage) cat down because the costs were exorbitant! Thankfully a friend recommended Feline Health (www.felinehealthnyc.com). On a Sunday, in the middle of a long weekend and the holiest of Jewish holidays, I was able to miraculous find a solution. The staff was amazing. Dina spent more time with me over the phone before I was a client than I have had people spend where I was a client. She explained an $11 charge in more detail than a $3,000 charge I have had elsewhere. Michael is amazing! I am told there is nothing he can’t do. Dr. Kepner explained everything in layman’s speak and certainly did not hurry through any of it. I have heard nothing but the best of the vet who will be performing the surgery. I left with a peace of mind that I hadn’t experienced anywhere else!

I know that my boy isn’t out of the woods. I also know that I am extremely grateful that I had an alternative to putting down a beloved pet because of the outrageous costs. With all of the animals in shelter looking for homes and killed needlessly, perhaps making affordable pet care a priority, not only in Manhattan, but throughout the country, will help allow other people to adopt and care for these animals. The joy a pet brings to one‘s life is immeasurable.

“I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter…the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal. And I was angry. “God,” I said, “this is terrible! Why don’t you do something?” God was silent for a moment and then He spoke softly. I have done something,” He replied. “I created you.” ~The Animals’ Savior Copyright Jim Willis 1999. And thankfully he’s given us Feline Health!

I use PSSSSST Dry Shampoo at least 3 times a week! Not only is it convenient, but my hair looks fresh and clean and I don’t have to worry about drying out my hair by washing it too often. I’ve been a fan of dry shampoo for many years, and have always been very happy with the healthy clean look, and compliments I get regarding the condition of my hair.

Now for a limited time, Freeman Beauty is not only giving you a shower cap to keep your hair dry when you shower, but a $1.00 coupon you can use on your next purchase of PSSSSST Dry Shampoo. (See above picture) What a great deal!

With PSSSSST Dry shampoo you’ll be able to remove excess oils from your hair along with build-up product. I like the volume, body, and that fresh shampoo smell I experience when I use PSSSSST Dry Shampoo.

I think that most of us are aware of the amount of money we spend on coloring our hair! Did you know that hair color will last longer if you shampoo it less frequently?
