Guy De On Dead Sea Mud Facial Mask

I love the way my skin feels after a facial……and have constantly been on the lookout for products that can duplicate that feeling at a fraction of the time and cost! Being a fan of mud masks, (I LOVE the way they magically shrink and refine pores and leave you with that glowing radiant complexion!) I was looking forward to trying Guy De On Dead Sea Mud Facial Mask. Instantaneously you start to feel the mud working and see the results!

Guy De On, (www.guydeon.com) a company known for their natural virtues and uncompromising efficiency, represents luxurious personal care products. Their products contain a unique blend of our planet’s most beneficial natural salt and minerals extracted from the Dead Sea, along with fabulous botanical extracts rich in fatty acids and nutrients. As for its unique name, Guy De On chose its unique name, basing on these exclusive and extraordinary ingredients, of the best quality and high concentrations in the field of skin care.

Guy is the Hebrew word for Valley. It origins from the bible and represents one of our planet’s most extraordinary phenomena- the Dead Sea. This naturally closed valley contains some of the most invigorating and replenishing ingredients on earth.

De means the in Latin, and adds a unique intriguing sound to it.

On is the Hebrew word to describe strength, vigor, force of life and vitality.

Therefore, the name – Valley of strength was chosen to represent these magnificent products.  There could not be any more suitable name for such life enhancing products, which contain the very essence of health, vitality and beauty.

Personally, I have to be careful with a lot of products, especially masks, as I have sensitive skin, and I am happy to report, it was a dream to use. I had absolutely no sensitivity, and I immediately felt it working. Within minutes I was left with smaller pores and had a glowing, and radiant complexion. Readily available at Walgreens and CVS, and a fraction of the cost of most mud facials, the Guy De On Dead Sea Mud Facial Mask will become a staple in my beauty regiment!

Magical is how Korean-born, New York based fashion designer Yuna Yang is hoping we will see her Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Drawing on Frederico Fellini’s masterpiece, La Dolce Vita with its impression of unforgettable beauty and elegance, as well as her own visions of her designs as a unique form of art, the Yuna Yang Spring/Summer 2012 Collection title “Magic” guides the wearer and spectators into the world of fantasy, excitement, elegance and mystery.

The collection was artistic as it was magical! Suits, dresses, blouses, cropped pants in an array of blues, lavenders, pinks, greens and whites , crafted in silk charmeuse, silk chiffon, double satin organza combined with signature beading, crystals, trims, delicate lace and oversized bows created enchanted and classic garments that are modern yet show the luxury an elegance of the past.

Star Emmy Hair – Get the Look

I had the pleasure of attending Wella Professionals Red Carpet Viewing Party earlier tonight. Also attending were the expert Wella Professionals to help dissect the looks seen that night. Celebrity Stylist Andy LeCompte who’s A-list celebrities include Penelope Cruz, Salma Hayek, Nicole Ritchie Katie Holmes, Madonna, Rachel Mc Adams, and Selena Gomez, is one of the most sought after editorial and celebrity hairstylists in the industry today. Color Ambassador Aura Friedman is in the forefront of the the top fashion magazines and on the runway for NY Fashion Week. Her growing clientele includes Carolyn Murphy, Jennifer Lawrence, Sopie Dahl, M.I.A., and Lady Gaga. Rounding out Wella’s North American Ambassadors is renowned hair stylist Ric Pipino, who’s fashion work includes layots in Vogue, Elle, CQ as well as campaigns for Donna Karan and Victoria’s Secret. He is a regular contributor on Oprah and Access Hollywood.

What makes the Emmy Award Show significant is that many of the trends seen tonight will filter into holiday fashions, The color of the evening was certainly red, with wines and purples coming into lay. As for hair and make-up…the rule is glamorous, and retro-glam elegant. Side-swept hair, deep side parts, finger curls, a mixture of textures created by using both a curling iron and flat iron. With so many possibilities, how difficult would it be to achieve the looks seen at the red carpet.

Here are some of the Wella Professionals Styles The Stars at the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards and how to create them!

EMILY BLUNT
Styled by Laini Reeves using Wella Professionals
Emily Blunt is a British actress best known for her roles in The Young Victoria and The Devil Wears Prada.
QUOTE: “We wanted to balance the complexity of the dress with a simple, modern hairdo.”
To create this very simple and very flattering up do
1. Wash hair using Wella Professionals Enrich Shampoo and Conditioner to maximize volume and shine
2. Power dry hair in different directions for a nice lift at the root
3. Using a 2inch barrel curling iron, create spiral curls all over and work through fingers
4. At the base of the neck, create a ponytail tease the ponytail and split it in two then twist and wrap the hair like a ballerina bun at the nape of the neck with a nice messy texture
5. Finish with Wella Professionals Stay Firm Finishing Spray

HEATHER MORRIS
Styled by Paul Norton using Wella Professionals
Heather Morris is an American actress, dancer, and singer best known for her role as the cheerleader Brittany S. Pierce in the musical comedy series Glee.
QUOTE: “Emmys are the biggest night in television! When styling hair, you must take into account the girls personality and her dress, but it’s important to show your own creative edge,” said Paul Norton, “She’s not necessarily super ‘Hollywood’ and it was so great working with her because she let me do whatever I wanted with her hair!”
INSPIRATION: My idea was based off of a French-twist style. Once I got involved, it turned into a lot more of a polished look. It’s a mix between rough and polished.
Here’s how to get Heather’s ultra-modern up-do:
1. Start by applying Wella Professionals Curl Craft Wax Mousse to give hair tons of texture and a lot of body
2. Blow out hair after applying Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier Hair Primer with a round brush and then curl the hair away from the face with a 1 ½ barrel curling iron
3. Pin a Mohawk section from the hair up and out of the way, then divide the remainder of the hair into three sections
4. From left to right, use a boar bristle brush to smooth hair upwards as if putting into a pony tail, start twisting hair sections inward and secure with bobby pins, repeat on right hand side and secure in same spot, the center section will be left creating what looks like a small pony tail
5. Once bottom part is secured, use 3 inch section around the face, spritz with Wella Professionals Create Character Texturizing Spray and back-comb hair for extra volume and pin down as a slight pompadour
6. Roll the remaining  back section under, and secure with bobby pins
7. Keep the look playful by pulling some pieces out so the look has a bit of edge, so as not to look overdone
8. Secure look with an all-over spray of Wella Professionals Dynamic Fix 45 Second Crafting Spray

GRETCHEN MOL
Styled by Nathaniel Hawkins using Wella Professionals
Gretchen Mol is an American actress known for her role as Gillian Darmody in HBO‘s Boardwalk Empire.
QUOTE: “I wanted her hair to look loose, modern, and a little messed up – but still beautiful and elegant with an overall feeling of ultimate glamour.”
INFLUENCE: The beautiful, simple L’Wren Scott dress made her look all about the hair and makeup!
Here’s how to recreate Gretchen’s glamorous ‘do:
6. Evenly coat damp hair with Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier
7. Apply Wella Professionals Extra Volume Styling Mousse directly to a vent brush and comb from the root to the end for thorough application
8. Blow dry roots of the hair up and away from face with medium heat – high heat can cause hair to soften too much for a sturdy updo –and then scrunch hair dry at mid-shaft until hair is 100% dry
9. Spray hair evenly with light application of Wella Professionals Thermal Image Heat Protection Spray and then curl sections of hair starting from front top hairline with a  1 ¼ inch barrel curling iron
10. Brush sections out and immediately, while hair is still warm, pin in purple Velcro curlers, repeat for entire head
11. Allow hair to cool for 20 minutes, which is important for the hair to set, then remove curlers and brush out roots to get rid of set marks
12. Spray hair with Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz Beach Texture Spray to create matte texture to create the loose – slightly undone look
13. Aerate hair with fingers then set with Wella Professionals Stay Firm Finishing Spray to control fly-aways

NINA DOBREV
Styled by Riawna Capri of Nine Zero One Salon using Wella Professionals
Gretchen Mol is an American actress known for her role as Gillian Darmody in HBO‘s Boardwalk Empire.
QUOTE: “Nina’s red Donna Karen dress basically chose this effortless look itself. The dress was so beautifully powerful therefore we wanted something not too done, loose, soft and romantic.”
Here’s how to create Nina’s effortless look:
1. Blow out hair with Wella Professionals Flowing Form Smoothing Balm to create lots of body and lift, and then set hair in Velcro rollers
2. Take a 1 ¼ inch curling iron and curled and pin hair in horizontal  sections
3. Let hair set for about 20 minutes and then brush hair off to one side with a boar bristle brush
4. Lift bang area with a rattail comb and spray with Wella Professionals Stay Firm Finishing Spray
5. Spritz the hair with Wella Professionals Shimmer Delight Shine Spray for an all over radiant glow

JULIANNE HOUGH
Styled by Campbell McAuley using Wella Professionals
Julianne Hough is an American professional ballroom dancer, country music singer and actress, most widely known for being a two-time winner of ABC‘s Dancing with the Stars.
QUOTE: “For Julianne’s hair, I wanted a look that was chic and classic, but also natural, to complement her beautiful 1950’s-inspired form-fitting dress.”
To recreate the easy and elegant parted & pulled-back bun:
1. Prep wet hair with Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier Style Primer, then blow-dry the hair with a large round brush
2. Use Wella Shimmer Delight Shine Spray to add extra natural shine to the hair
3. Create a center part in the hair and lightly brush her hair down, then back into a low, natural ponytail
4. Circle hair into a bun and secure with a pony tail
5. Spritz hair with Wella Professionals Dynamic Fix 45 Second Crafting Spray to set the look

Celebrating NY Fashion Week and Fashion’s Night Out

NY Fashion Week kicks off tomorrow! Twice a year, in September and February,  New York City plays host to an assortment of American Fashion designers (and a few International designers as well), as they show their preview collections to a crowd of journalists, buyers, celebrities and the elite socialites at New York Fashion Week. Fashion Week provides these designers an opportunity to not only show off their upcoming season, but set trends. The Fashion Week shows are by invitation only, making entry to the shows akin to attending the Superbowl.

Feeling left out because you weren’t on the invite list? No need to worry as New York City itself gets into the fashion spirit with many stores, salons, spas, restaurants, and bars participating in Fashion’s Night Out. For the third year in a row, designers, celebrities, and performers mingle with shoppers as they take part in after-hours shopping extravaganza’s Fashion Night’s Out. The 2011 version of Fashion’s Night Out will be even bigger and better this year with new events, locations and even allowing shoppers to participate in the festivities from home on-line. For more on Fashion’s Night Out activities see http://fashionsnightout.com/

New York City’s first Fashion Week, then called Press Week was held in 1943. Fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert organized the event to showcase American Designers to fashion industry insiders and fashion journalists because they were unable to travel to Paris to see French Fashion shows during the World War II.  Only Press was allowed to the show (to entice buyers to visit the designers’ showrooms) and that helped showcase American designers as many fashion magazines like Vogue( normally filled with French designs) increasingly began to feature American fashion.

From the large white tents in Bryant Park, to the new home in Lincoln Center, Fashion Week has kept up with the times. Technology has certainly helped shape the future of fashion making it cheaper and easier for designers to create their collections; it has also allowed them to broadcast their lines over the internet. Many designers have opted to not only market on-line, but sell exclusively on-line. Some designers, (for example, one of my favorites, Norma Kamali) has an application on the iPhone. In really keeping up with the times, Fashion shows use Fashion GPS , a new technology that offers quick seating and check-in for guests at the shows.

Because of the recession, many designers began stepping outside of the box. With the cost of a show upwards of $750,000, many designers incorporated ways to cut costs. From combining lines, changing venues, displaying mannequins, designers were able lower costs. Fashion collections , in a trend to show recession friendly fashion, began showing stale colors and pieces that can be layered or worn alone as ways to double the wear out of one piece.

Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week (http://www.mbfashionweek.com/) is perhaps the most well-known event held during the New York Fashion Week, but it is not the only one. Many top-name designers, including Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, and Ralph Lauren, show their collections at other venues.

Once again, I am pleased that I will be able to show pictures of some of the collections, courtesy of my favorite fashion photog Shawn Punch (pictured)!

Crest Complete Gets Deep Clean for Twice as Long

We’ve all seen how technology has improved our favorite products. Those trusted and true brands we grew up with have done some growing up along with us. The Procter and Gamble Company (www.pg.com) have updated our favorite products, combined them with cutting edge ingredients and technology and voila….we have superior product performance at wallet friendly prices. Take Olay for example. Olay is consistently rated one of the best beauty products by professionals and consumers alike. And it is affordable and easily obtainable!

The Procter and Gamble Company is now updating our oral care. They know we are busy! Between work, kids, the house, friends, families, activities, we have a lot on our plate. They have updated one of our favorite toothpastes, Crest, combined it with Oral-B and created the new Crest Complete. The Crest Complete Multi-Benefiting Whitening + Deep Clean Toothpaste now has 33% more Silica than regular toothpaste and a unique Polyionic Complex of three cleaning ingredients that is formulated to fight cavities and whiten teeth. It provides the protection that you need and up to 2x a cleaner feeling versus ordinary toothpaste. Combine the Complete Multi-Benefiting Whitening + Deep Clean Toothpaste with an Oral-B Deep Clean Manual or Action Powered Toothbrush and Oral-B Complete Satin Floss and you have simple, effective products that work. Period. Good to go.

I had the pleasure of attending the launch of Crest Complete yesterday. It was a chance to see the many uses of mint, one of my favorite plants. From eating it, drinking it, brushing with it, to using it in a humidifier, cool, refreshing mint has been used as both a medicine and seasoning for centuries. It was also a chance to meet the great Eva La Rue, (CSI Miami’s beautiful, smart and sexy DNA Lab Specialist Natalia Boa Vista) a Crest Complete Spokesperson (one look at those teeth and it is no wonder why!).  It was wonderful to be able to congratulate Eva, one of It’s a Glam Things favorite friends, on all of her wonderful work with the Beckstrand Cancer Foundation (www.beckstrand.org) a non-profit offering financial aid to those families with members battling cancer as well as offering college scholarships to students with cancer and survivors.  Well done Eva and continued wishes of success from IAGT!
