Swimsuits from the Dream – Dress to Impress (On the Beach!)

What is something that every girl wants? An attractive body during the summer. Well, winter preparations to get your beach body are not the only thing you can do. We are here to tell you what swimsuits are the trendiest and will make you look like a true beach bombshell.

High waisted swimsuits

Thankfully, curvy, plus size girls have raised their voices in the body positivity movement, so now many brands have gorgeous lines that fit any body type. One-piece swimsuits are great, but we are happier about the two-piece ones that make all the girls feel sexy and attractive. High-waisted bottoms are one of them, and the best thing is that no matter what your body type is, they will flatter your figure. Striped, retro style or earthy tones are trendy, and they would look very stylish with a headscarf.

Minimalistic style

Again, we have to thank the body positivity movement that you don’t have to cover too much of your body and be ashamed of what you look like. This resulted in the trend of miniature bikinis that leave little to the imagination. The most notable part of this is various triangle bikinis for all that are perfect for a tan with less lines, and for showing off your curves proudly. Many designs from floral, and animal print, to monochrome, are available so that every girl can choose what she feels best in. As for the bottoms, high cut, thin straps that sit on your waist are very popular.

Bold designs and fabric

If there is something that we have seen all around social media posts when it comes to bathing suits, it’s the bold designs and swimsuits with bands. They are perfect for when you are already tan, and they look amazing, unique, and interesting. The benefit of this type of swimsuit is that it is usually made from thicker fabric, so you can be sure nothing is see-through, yet they are comfortable. Neon colors with a different colored band are one trend you definitely want to try. And for all of you who like a statement piece, you can get the ones with printed brand names or logos.

One-piece swimsuits

For a period, we forgot all about one-piece swimsuits that were popular in the ’80s and ’90s. But, a few years ago, they made a huge comeback, and it seems they are here to stay. Deep V neck, belts, side cuts, ruffles, open back, and straps, all of these designs made us fall in love with them again, and we can see them all over fashion shows, and magazines as well. And what is even better is that famous brands like Victoria Secret have started hiring models who are of different body shapes and sizes, and thus showed how any girl can look amazing when following the newest trends. A very stylish look when it comes to one-piece swimsuits is the asymmetric, bare shoulder design, or even strapless swimsuit. It emphasizes the shoulders and makes the look more soft, feminine, and attractive.

Trendy patterns and colors for 2020

Now that we have talked about the popular types of swimwear, let us briefly go over the trendiest designs, patterns and colors for the upcoming summer season. As you would suppose, animal print is still one of the most loved ones, along with floral ones. The colors that dominate in animal print are beige, yellow, and even red for a more unique look, and green, orange, and yellow for floral ones. Bright colors like yellow, red, green, or pink are perfect for anyone who wants a super fun look. However, if you want a more elegant, classic look, monochromes are a safe choice. For a more girly, feminine look, we would recommend pastel colors combined with stripped print. And for a more chic, bold look, dark red, ochre, and olive green mixed with golds are the perfect look.

The biggest trend when it comes to swimsuits is the fact that every body shape and size is included, and every woman can feel attractive and confident on the beach. And as for the actual trends, you can find inspiration in this little guide.

The Secret to Making Thicker Braids – The Perfect Foundation for Bubble Braiding

(New York, NY) – There’s certainly no shortage of braiding, knotting and twisting techniques, but unless there’s enough volume in the pattern, the style can be blah…and even slip out.  Anna Peters, Sam Villa ArTeam Member, shares the secret to creating a special kind of texture that provides more grip and increases volume by 3X!  See how it creates the perfect foundation for bubble braiding!

“Creating full fat braids starts with building texture before crafting the pattern, do that and your results will be massive!” says Peters.

TEXTURE X3

  • Apply Redken iron shape 11 to protect hair from heat damage, lock in thermal styling and preserve color.
  • Tap the Sam Villa Signature Series Textur Professional Texturizing Iron down sections. The plates create a special expanded type of texture that is super big, actually 3 times larger, and it holds patterns securely for long lasting braids.

Bubble Braid Technique

  • Create a triangle section and secure with an elastic very close to the head.
  • Take a diagonal section under that, pick up more hair from below and add to the existing ends of the previous ponytail and secure.
  • Pull to tighten to create the first bubble and use fingers to gently pull the bubble apart to create more volume.
  • Repeat until the ends, which can hang like a traditional braid or be pinned into an updo.

“This is a super simple technique that even young girls can do, just make sure to keep your sections the same size so the bubbles are uniform,” says Peters.

DON’T TRY THESE SKIN CARE DEVICES, GADGETS OR TIPS AT HOME WARNS DERMATOPATHOLOGIST

www.gfacemd.com

Life hacks, DIY tricks, and at home devices that are meant to “mimic the effects of in-office skin care treatments are all the rage right now. They are posted on Instagram, YouTube, and all over the Internet. While some are very constructive and budget-friendly, others are ineffective or downright dangerous. We asked Dr. Gretchen Frieling, who is a Boston area Dermatopathologist, to highlight several highly publicized methods that should bear the warning, “don’t try this at home.”

Dermaplaning- Dermaplaning is a cosmetic procedure that removes the top layers of your skin. The procedure aims to remove fine wrinkles and deep acne scarring, as well as make the skin’s surface look smoothIt uses an exfoliating blade to skim dead skin cells and hair from your face.

The Risks– Anecdotally, the risk of infection, complications, and experiencing pain during home dermaplaning is higher when you do it yourself.  “If you have acne, there is a chance that the blade could nick a pimple,” says Dr. Frieling which means it would take longer to heal. In addition, the tool used for dermaplaning is not a safety razor like what we ladies shave with. The device or tool used to accomplish the dermaplaning on the face is made of a sharp blade with a handle or wand.

At home “Derma-Rollers” for MicroNeedling” Aestheticians and dermatologists use derma rollers on clients to increase elasticity, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and help with discoloration. Professional treatment can cost anywhere from $100 to $1,200 per session. According to Marketwatch, “A trend report for 2018 from lifestyle site Pinterest says it’s seen a 345% increase in posts for the “derma-roller” over the past year.”  Dr. Frieling is not in favor of using the tools at home because, “the needles aren’t big enough to penetrate the proper holes into the skin, so you’re essentially damaging your face for no reason. And without proper sterilization, derma rollers can harbor harmful bacteria causing infections, breakouts, and can trigger skin conditions such as rosacea, which causes redness and bumps on the face; eczema, itchy inflammation spots; and brown patches on the skin.”

Injecting Botox or other “Black Market” Filler into Your Face– First, even if you were able to get your hands on “real” Botox or filler such as Juvederm or Restylane® it’s almost like putting a firearm in the hands of someone untrained at shooting.  There is no safe way to give yourself Botox. You can’t trust what you’re buying, and even if you could, no amount of YouTube-ing will ever adequately teach you the skills you need to inject it. First, you need to know where to inject the substance. The answer is not to point the needle at the fine lines. After all, you’re relaxing muscles, not filling in wrinkles. Injecting Botox requires an understanding of facial muscles. You need to know which muscles should be relaxed for the desired results and where to target them. Second, you need to know how deeply to insert the needle and how much of the mixed substance you should apply in any given location.

Incorrect injection practices can lead to a host of complications, including eyelid drooping (ptosis), excessive swelling, excessive bruising, and a greater risk of infection. In fact, the infection may become so severe that it becomes a staph infection, an infection that spreads throughout the body and causes a variety of diseases. In any case, recovery will be longer, and the results may not be what you intended.

Lip Plumper Suction Devices- We have Kylie Jenner to thank for these! They are much less expensive than filler in the lips but with a far shorter shelf life. Dr. Frieling’s verdict: “Overuse of suction cup lip plumpers can cause misalignment of the teeth due to the outward pressure of the suction. Devices such as these can also cause swelling and bruising of the lips (and sometimes permanent scarring) when used excessively. The advice is to use these devices sensibly and with caution.”

At home acne extractors- The county has become obsessed with popping pimples thanks in part to the success of the TV show “Dr. Pimple Popper.” Acne extractors sold online, and people are using them at home. But should they?  Picking causes scars or scabs by ripping off the top layer of skin, whereas extracting by a professional pulls out the fluids or solids inside a pimple. It’s far more sterile, sanitary, and cleans the pore of the extra debris. Why can’t you simply do this yourself? Acne extraction, be it white or blackheads, is a ‘don’t try this at home procedure.’ It’s a one-way ticket to scarring, infection and even more breakouts. Only through a professional facial will your skin be prepped and steamed correctly for extractions – by the hands of a trained, licensed esthetician. Skin that has not been adequately prepped for extractions may be resistant, requiring more pressure and manipulation. If used too aggressively, the pressure of the extractor tool can inflame and even bruise the skin. Additionally, a skin care professional is well-practiced in gentle and efficient movements to maximize results while minimizing potential harm.

Cuticle Cutters-Trimming or cutting cuticles during a manicure is purely cosmetic and doesn’t benefit the nail in any way. In fact, it’s actually harmful to your nails. “The small area of skin is there to protect your nails from infection. When this skin is removed, your nail is left unprotected from bacteria and fungus. Dr. Frieling recommends pushing back the cuticles by applying cuticle remover on each nail.

Chemical Peels- Chemical peels are designed to work by removing part of the top layer of skin to reveal fresher skin for a more youthful appearance. Many products containing low concentrations of acid are sold through beauty retailers and drug stores and are often safe to use. People also are treated with peels using a higher concentration at medi-spas or doctor’s offices.  When it comes to alpha hydroxy acids or (AHAs) like salicylic and glycolic acids, a concentration of 10 percent or less is safe for home, and more than 30 percent should be reserved for a professional environment, according to a Food and Drug Administration advisory panel. Like many substances, illegal concentrations of chemical peels can be purchased online for substantially less than they would cost in a doctor’s office. But what price do you pay for a “bargain?”  According to Dr. Frieling, “the dangers of experimenting with a medical grade peel at home are numerous and can include: extreme pain in the form of stinging, actual burns to the skin, blistering, scarring, changes in skin color, infection.” What’s more, a skin care professional will determine if you are even a candidate for a chemical peel and possibly rule you out if you have taken the acne medication isotretinoin in the past six months, have a dark complexion, have a personal history of ridged areas caused by an overgrowth of scar tissue (keloids), have abnormal skin pigmentation, have a history of frequent or severe outbreaks of cold sores.

Dr. Frieling says that there are worthwhile “skin care hacks,” DIY recipes for the skin, and some at home devices that are safe and effective. Before buying into the latest Instagram sensation, consult with your doctor first to make sure that you are a good candidate and that what you are considering is safe and effective.

Colgate® Launches Optic White® Advanced LED Whitening

Colgate’s innovative new at-home whitening system is designed for ease of use and delivers clinically-proven results in a matter of days. The Colgate ® Optic White ®Advanced LED Whitening Treatment results in teeth that are six shades whiter in ten days. Like a professional whitening treatment, this safe, at-home device uses new patented technology and blue LED lights to effectively activate and lift stains quickly. Using the system for ten minutes a day for ten days can remove decades of wine and coffee stains and provide a brighter, whiter smile.

“What makes this product unique is the combination of its performance and ease of use,” says John Kooyman, Chief Marketing Officer, Colgate-Palmolive. “We’re proud to offer the clinically-proven guarantee of whitening teeth that are up to six shades whiter in just ten days. Many at-home whiteners are cumbersome, complicated or ineffective, but with our introduction, we bring to the market a product that is both easy to use and highly effective.”

The device is designed with a rechargeable battery which allows for a consistent power outlay. This ensures the LED light panel, containing over seven hundred micro lights, is always running at an optimal wavelength for effective performance. The non-UV blue light level accelerates the whitening power by 190% of the 9% hydrogen peroxide, the same whitening ingredient used by dentists. Recommended usage calls for dispensing a vial of the whitening gel on the top and bottom sections of the mouthpiece. Once inserted and powered on, the LED lights are activated and the whitening process begins. The device beeps halfway through, at the five-minute mark, and again when complete. To achieve optimal results, this process should be repeated for 10 straight days.

“We’ve spent the past five years perfecting the LED device and treatment system,” explains Hallie Strotman, R&D. “Every element of the finished product had to meet our criteria of being well-designed, comfortable and most importantly, deliver the whitening results today’s discerning consumer demands.” The overall product has over 80 patents globally from the development of the device and its design to the compact, rechargeable case.

The Colgate ® Optic White ®  Advanced LED Whitening Treatment is available at shop.colgate.com and retails for $185, which includes the rechargeable device and a 10-day supply of whitening serum. The kit can also be purchased for $145 if opting for the serum refill subscription service. The 10-day supply of Colgate ® Optic White ® Serum Refills are sold separately for $49 and the 5-day supply is $29.

Great Tips For Feeling Zen

Feeling zen takes time and effort. Although once you are there, it may very well feel effortless. How do you go from someone who feels the stress piling up to someone able to process stress in healthy ways?

We know that people aren’t great at looking after themselves; in fact, they will often simply forget for so long it becomes alien. But when we take care of ourselves, we make better decisions, we are more productive, our relationships are better, and we just feel great.

So here are a few tips to get you feeling zen.

Plants

Get some plants in and around your home. Not only will you have to take care of them, but it is a simple joy to watch them grow over time. If you want to take this one step further, then you can plant a range of seeds and grow them from scratch. A great option is to grow herbs if you are a first-timer – they tend to be more forgiving than many other flowering plants. The green pops around your home will up your productivity and give you a nice happy feeling.

Sleep

When it comes to sleep, many of us just aren’t getting enough. Which can really add to your stress levels. If you find you can’t wind down, get into a routine of warm herbal tea, reading a book instead of watching TV, and dim the lights. When you do finally get into bed, rather than just hope you get to sleep, try listening to sleep stories from the Calm app or the Headspace app. The stories are soothing and in a gentle tone that will have you drifting off in minutes,

Happy Body

Drinking plenty of water and going for a walk every day will have you feeling much perkier. Do things that you love and wear clothes you enjoy too. Although not everyone loves everything about themselves, you can make changes if you want. Hair dye, lip fillers, and laser treatments are one effective fat removal treatment if you should want that. Take some time to love your body, but love the changes you want to make too.

Painting

Painting can be so relaxing. Many people worry because they don’t feel like they can produce anything that looks nice. The great thing is that there are many methods of painting, and you don’t have to fit into any of them. You are free to discover how you want to use the colour and canvas. A great technique for a starter is the Dutch pouring technique. The colors are free to run and mix, and you can gently guide them in any direction you like. And the instructional videos are very soothing too.

Walk It Out

You are ideally supposed to walk at least once a day. It doesn’t matter if it just around the block or through the woods. Getting your blood pumping improves the oxygen flow to your body and brain. It also gives you a chance to think and stroll – which is pretty lovely.

Looking As Young As You Feel: Here’s How You Can Do It

As each day passes, we get older. It’s inevitable. But as each day passes our desire to look and feel more youthful increases. We are always looking for the next big trend to help use with younger looking skin, or a flawless complexion. Or even things like how to wear certain clothes that make us feel good, or even going back to our youth and trying out daring new looks.

The beauty of all of this is that we have the control to make things happen. Sometimes we just have to take the right steps and make good decisions. The issue is that we can often let how we feel take control of out actions, and instead of embracing a younger style because we love it, wearing a colour that we think makes our skin glow, or even a makeup look seemingly reserved for teens, we can shy away from it through fear of what people think. But no more. You can look as young as you feel, and there are so many options in which you can do it. With that in mind, here are some of the ways you can look more youthful.

Drinking more water

Increasing the amount of water you drink on a daily basis can help you with your appearance. Hydrating your body can reduce the dark circles that appear around your eyes and clear up your skin complexion. Often our skin can look tired and grey, and this can be down to being dehydrated. Drinking more water can also help in regards to your sleep. Being more rested will make you look and feel more youthful. You will have much more energy and the appearance of bags, and tired eyes will disappear.

Botox

Sometimes people won’t want to consider things like this, but botox can help you appear younger. Botox is a neuromodulator that works by relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles by using botox injections. This means that the wrinkles around your eyes and face reduce or disappear after a few treatments. Sometimes the wrinkles on our face are an indicator of getting older. Botox has other benefits which include the reduction in sweating and can help to treat migraines.

Clever makeup tricks

A youthful appearance can be achieved by the use of clever makeup tricks. This might mean trying your hand at contouring to enhance the appearance of cheekbones. Or the use of a highlighter to enhance certain features. There are many tutorials online that could help you achieve some great looks with your makeup.

Getting that piercing and embracing it

As we get older, our spontaneity can reduce, and often things like decisions for piercings can be put to the back of our minds. But you can embrace certain styles, be that a nose ring, extra piercings on your ears or even your belly button. Some people even go as far as a nipple ring and look for stylist accessories like a titanium barbell to help them look and feel their best underneath. about:blank

Exercise

Exercising can have a massive effect on the way you look. By starting a new fitness regime, you could see yourself lose a few pounds and also feel better in yourself. Exercise can be a simple thing like increasing the amount you move each day. Many people track their progress of the number of steps they take each day and trying to increase it over time. You could also consider taking up running or joining a local gym.

Where colours that you love

It isn’t just about the clothes that we wear, but also about the colours and the patterns that we want to embrace. Some people love brighter coloured clothing, but fear as they get older they should choose subtle shades that allow them to fade in the background. If you want to wear a sequin covered jumper or dress go for it. If you want to rock your favourite colour, then why not?

A healthy balanced diet

Changing your diet can make you appear younger because of the effects it can have on your weight and your skin tone. Increasing the amount of fruit and vegetables in your diet means you gain more vitamins and nutrients to fuel your body.

Clever styling

Finally, the choice we make in the clothes we wear can make our appearance look more youthful. By dressing to our figure and enhancing our best assets, we can look much better in our general appearance. Sometimes it’s good to work our figure. There is some great advice in stores and if you are unsure perhaps consider a personal shopping experience.

Let’s hope these tips and tricks help you to look more youthful.
