Rosacea Awareness Month Highlights Benefits of Medical Therapy

Rosacea Awareness Month Highlights Benefits of Medical  Therapy-What’s The Best Way to Hide Rosacea? With Clear Skin

woman hiding face

Rosacea can be a vicious cycle. The more you worry about its dreaded appearance, the likelier the stress may cause it to come crashing in at the worst possible time, showing up in the most conspicuous and embarrassing place—the face—as a redness that won’t go away, often with unsightly bumps and pimples. Fortunately today, rosacea sufferers have more reason than ever to be optimistic. The good news is that although rosacea cannot be cured, important advances in medical therapy have made it increasingly possible to achieve the next best thing: clear skin.

The National Rosacea Society has designated April as Rosacea Awareness Month to educate the public on this often life-disruptive disorder estimated to affect more than 16 million Americans and 415 million individuals worldwide, urging those with warning signs to see a dermatologist for diagnosis and appropriate therapy.

“Recent studies on the burden of illness of rosacea have shown just how important it is to have clear skin, as the condition can profoundly damage quality of life because of its effect on personal appearance,” said Dr. Linda Stein Gold, director of dermatology clinical research at the Henry Ford Health System. “In so many cases, all it takes is a single blemish or a single comment about having a red face to ruin someone’s day.”

In an NRS survey of 1,675 rosacea patients, 90 percent said the disorder had lowered their self-esteem and self-confidence, and 52 percent said they had avoided face-to-face contact because of the disorder. In another survey, 51 percent of those with severe symptoms said they had even missed work because of their condition.

When the signs and symptoms of rosacea are virtually eliminated, however, the improvement in patients’ lives is often dramatic. In a new NRS survey of more than 800 rosacea patients, 83 percent of those who had achieved clear or almost clear skin said their psychological well-being had improved. Seventy-three percent said it had also improved their social lives, and 63 percent reported improvement in their occupational well-being.

In contrast, among those whose rosacea had only slightly or moderately improved, just 26 percent reported improvement in psychological well-being, 22 percent in social well-being and 21 percent in occupational well-being.

“Clear skin is not only desirable, but it is increasingly attainable with the advanced medical therapies that are available today. Though they may feel discouraged, the most important thing for those battling the signs and symptoms of rosacea is to visit a dermatologist to be correctly diagnosed and treated,” said Dr. Stein Gold. “Rosacea is a disorder of varying signs and symptoms, and finding the best therapy or combination of therapies for each individual’s case is key.”

Although it can develop in many ways, rosacea typically first appears after age 30 as a redness on the cheeks, nose, chin or forehead that grows ruddier and more persistent over time, and small blood vessels may become visible. Without treatment, bumps and pimples often develop, and burning and stinging are common. In severe cases, the nose may become enlarged from excess tissue, and in many rosacea patients the eyes are also affected, feeling irritated and appearing watery or bloodshot.

During Rosacea Awareness Month and throughout the year, the NRS will conduct public education activities to reach the many millions of rosacea sufferers who may not realize they have a medical condition that can be treated, emphasizing the warning signs and urging those who suspect they may have rosacea to see a dermatologist. Comprehensive information and materials are available on the NRS website at rosacea.org.

Those interested in spreading awareness during the month of April are encouraged to visit the official Rosacea Awareness Month landing page at rosacea.org/ram for ways in which they can participate, and to follow the conversation online using the hashtag #RosaceaAwareness. The NRS may also be followed on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest for up-to-date information and tips on rosacea.

What Is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic disorder of the facial skin that is often characterized by flare-ups and remissions. According to the recently updated standard classification of rosacea, the presence of persistent facial redness or, less commonly, phymatous changes where the facial skin thickens is considered diagnostic of the disorder. Additional major signs include bumps (papules) and pimples (pustules), flushing, visible blood vessels (telangiectasia) and certain ocular manifestations. The presence of two or more major features independent of the diagnostic signs is also considered diagnostic of rosacea, and secondary signs and symptoms include burning or stinging, swelling and dry appearance.

In around half of rosacea patients, the eyes are also affected, including visible blood vessels on the eyelid margin and a bloodshot appearance, as well as inflammation and growth of fibrous tissue. Burning, stinging, light sensitivity and the sensation of a foreign object may also occur, as well as conjunctivitis, inflammation of oil glands at the rim of the eyelids (blepharitis) and crusty accumulations at the base of the eyelashes. Severe cases of this condition, known as ocular rosacea, can result in loss of visual acuity.

In some patients, especially in men, the nose may become enlarged from the development of excess tissue. This is the condition that gave comedian W.C. Fields his trademark red, bulbous nose.

The red face of rosacea was described as early as the 1300s in Chaucer’s “Canterbury Tales,” and the less common swollen nose was shown in the 1540 Renaissance painting “The Old Man and his Grandson” by Ghirlandaio. Among the most famous modern rosacea sufferers is former President Bill Clinton, whose doctors disclosed that he has this condition in the New York Times. Others reported to have suffered from rosacea include Princess Diana, singer Sam Smith, model Dita Von Teese and comedian Amy Schumer.

Recent studies have shown that the initial redness of rosacea appears to be the start of an inflammatory continuum initiated by neurovascular dysregulation and the innate immune system. Research has further demonstrated that a marked increase in mast cells, located at the interface between the nervous system and vascular system, is a common link in all major presentations of the disorder. Other studies have documented a possible genetic component, as well as the potential role of the human microbiome, including Demodex mites and certain bacteria.

Although causal relationships have not been determined, recent research has also found associations between rosacea and increased risk of a growing number of potentially serious systemic disorders. These have included cardiovascular diseases, gastrointestinal disorders, neurological conditions, autoimmune diseases and certain types of cancer.

Although the ultimate cause of rosacea remains unknown, a vast array of lifestyle and environmental factors has been found to trigger flare-ups of signs and symptoms in various individuals. Common rosacea triggers include sun exposure, emotional stress, hot or cold weather, wind, heavy exercise, alcohol, spicy foods, heated beverages, humidity, certain skin-care products and potentially an overabundance of Demodex mites.

“Fortunately, through ongoing progress in medical research, a growing number of therapies are now available that can be tailored to each individual case, bringing clear skin within reach and substantially reducing the impact of rosacea on people’s lives.” Dr. Stein Gold said. Individuals with any of the following warning signs of rosacea are urged to see a dermatologist for diagnosis and appropriate treatment:

  • Redness on the cheeks, nose, chin or forehead

  • Small visible blood vessels on the face

  • Bumps or pimples on the face

  • Watery or irritated eyes

During April and throughout the year, people who suspect they may have rosacea can contact the NRS for more information, or visit rosacea.org.

Introducing The Power of Good Fund by bareMinerals

Supporting Women’s Empowerment Charities – Full of Opportunity, Free of Limitations

Bare Minerals The Power of good

As the creators of clean, good-for-skin products, bareMinerals empowers women to look good, feel good and do good for others. To further this important mission, bareMinerals has launched The Power of Good Fund by bareMinerals, which supports charities that empower women through education, mentorship and entrepreneurialism. In addition, bareMinerals employees throughout the US will devote 1% of their time each year – up to three full days – to volunteering at the causes they care about most.

To launch this initiative, bareMinerals has joined forces with three pioneering organizations: Girl Rising, Step Up and Grameen America that help women unleash their potential. “It was essential for us to find philanthropic collaborators that shared the same core values and mission to change the future,” says Jill Scalamandre, President of bareMinerals. “As the first clean beauty brand to launch 24 years ago, we wanted to be able to give back to all of the women who have supported us on our journey by helping and encouraging the next generation of women to reach their full potential.”

Bare Minerals

From April 1, 2019, bareMinerals will support the Power of Good Fund by donating 1% of sales from all US boutiques and bareMinerals.com to Hopewell Fund. Donations will be made on sales, less any returns or discounts, through the end of 2019 and include a minimum contribution of $500,000.

To kick off the launch, last night bareMinerals hosted the first of three free Brave Girl Rising screenings in partnership with The Wing, where clips from the original Girl Rising film were also shown. Two additional movie screenings will be held at The Wing Georgetown on April 3 and The Wing San Francisco on April 4. Following the screening, Jill Scalamandre and speakers from Girl Rising hosted a panel discussion about the importance of education and the impact investing in educating women has on the world. The night ended with attendees and guests packing school backpacks to be donated to the International Rescue Committee.

THE CHARITIES

Girl Rising
According to a 2014 report by The World Bank, women with secondary school education can earn almost twice as much as those with no education at all, while girls who complete secondary school are better equipped to become healthier, more prosperous adults. Closing the gaps in girls’ education is a key cause for bareMinerals and so we partnered with Girl Rising, a non-profit that utilizes catalytic storytelling to raise awareness about the barriers that are keeping 130 million girls around the world from classrooms. This organization also works with local partners to implement life-altering programming that build skills and confidence in girls to change attitudes, behaviors and social norms. Girl Rising’s goal is to galvanize entire communities—girls, boys, parents, teachers, political and religious leaders—to stand up for girls and their education. bareMinerals is proud to support such an important mission of change.

Step Up
Mentors are not readily available for women in the workforce. In fact, global executive search firm Egon Zehnder reported in 2017 that only 54 percent of women have access to senior female leaders who can act as mentors throughout their careers. To help bring more mentors into the lives of the young women who most need them, namely those in under-resourced communities, Step Up links teen girls to a network of professional women through after-school programs. These meaningful relationships cultivate confidence and leadership skills that allow young women to better navigate social, economic and gender barriers, as well as helping them to challenge today’s power structure for a better tomorrow. With new support from bareMinerals, Step Up aims to grow and serve over 8,000 girls by 2020.

Grameen America
More women are running their own businesses than ever before, yet according to a 2014 study by the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, women receive only 4 percent of all small business loans from mainstream financial institutions. To help counteract this disappointing fact, bareMinerals has partnered with Grameen America—a program built on a Nobel Prize-winning model—which aims to alleviate poverty through female entrepreneurialism and small business funding. This innovative organization provides low-income women with microloans, business training, credit-building, savings programs and peer support so that they can effectively establish credit, scale their companies and create prosperity in their communities. Last year the organization reached an incredible milestone of investing $1 billion in microloans to over 110,000 women across the U.S.

Starting April 1, 2019, after making a purchase at a bareMinerals boutique or on bareMinerals.com, consumers will be able to cast a vote for the philanthropic pillar (education, mentorship or entrepreneurialism) that they feel most passionately about. These votes will help inform how donations to The Power of Good Fund by bareMinerals through Hopewell Fund are allocated, with bareMinerals committed to making donations to all three organizations.

As a clean, good-for-skin beauty brand, our goal is to continue to inspire change both big and small. Through these partnerships and the launch of The Power of Good Fund by bareMinerals, we are proud to help women look good, feel good and do good for themselves and the world around them. That’s bareMinerals. That’s THE POWER OF GOOD.

“The Care Skincare brand is ‘customer community’-centric. They are the drivers behind this brand. We are not dictating to our customers what they should care about, we are asking them what their real needs and interests are,” said Care Skincare Co-Founder Ricardo Quintero. “And giving back has been a part of our commitment to that community from day one through the ‘Because We Care’ initiative. We asked our highly engaged Instagram users what really matters to them, and helping other women in need ranked incredibly high. So we’re here to help them make that happen.”

Every Mother Counts is dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother, everywhere. Around the world, 303,000 women die each year due to complications of pregnancy and childbirth. That’s one woman every two minutes; 99 percent of maternal deaths happen in the developing world and nearly all are preventable. Despite spending more on health care per capita than any other nation in the world, America is facing a maternal health crisis. The U.S. has a higher maternal mortality rate than 45 other countries and is the only developed country with a rising maternal mortality rate.

“As a mother of four, my life is filled with the unique challenges of motherhood,” said Care Skincare Co-Founder Pilar Quintero. “Care Skincare was founded to be a safe, highly effective brand that works for all women, even busy mothers who can forget to take care of themselves. Looking Your Best And Feeling Your Best

Looking Your Best And Feeling Your Best – A lot of people are embracing the new trend for non surgical treatments in order to improve their appearance and feel better about themselves. With that being said, read on to discover more…

Pretty woman looking her best

Getting rid of eye bags for a fresher appearance

Non surgical facial treatments have become exceptionally popular, helping people to achieve a more youthful and vibrant appearance. If you are someone that suffers from eye bags, you may be fed up with the dull and tired look they create. There good news is that you don’t need to sleep continuously for the rest of your life to have a chance of getting rid of them, as non surgical treatment provides a great solution. But, why do we get eye bags in the first place? They occur when water is excessively stored in the skin tissue underneath the eye, and so it is all about fluid retention. There are a number of causes of eye bags.

Common eye bag causes include medical reasons, genetics, allergies, smoking, lifestyle, age, and a lack of sleep. You may be wondering what we mean by the ‘lifestyle’ point. Well, there are two contributing lifestyle factors that are particularly important. Firstly, the way in which you remove your makeup can impact your risk of eye bags. If you do not remove your makeup properly before you go to bed every night, it will have many negative effectives on the skin. It can accelerate the ageing process and cause irritation around the eye. This is why it is so important to take your makeup off properly, otherwise treatment for wrinkle smoothing will be a necessity.

Another lifestyle choice that can cause bags under your eyes is indulging in too much salt. This is because sale causes the body to retain water. Next time you eat a salt-heavy meal before bed, check your eyes in the mirror the next morning. It is likely that they will look heavy and dull. While all of these can cause eye bags, if you are already suffering from them, the best thing to do is find a clinic providing non surgical treatment for eye bags. Such procedures are quick and straightforward, and they won’t disrupt your day-to-day life. Barely any downtime is required after the treatment.

Have you heard of CoolSculpting?

Skin tightening procedures for body are widely available from cosmetic surgery clinics throughout the world. One form of skin tightening that is becoming more and more popular is CoolSculpting. We will reveal everything you need to know about it in this section. So, how does CoolSculpting work? This is a procedure that involves using round paddles in different sizes to suction your fat. You will sit down in a reclined chair while the cooling panels get to work on crystallising your fat cells, which will reduce them by between 20 to 25 per cent.

Unlike liposuction, skin tightening procedures are for those seeking mild results, rather than being a major fat removal treatment. As mentioned, around a quarter of your fat cells will be removed, resulting in a slimmer and more toned appearance. It will often take a few treatments for you to get optimal results. The more treatments you have, the better results you will see. This will all be explained with you during the consultation you have with your surgeon. Not matter whether you are interested in skin tightening procedures for stomach or any other part of the body, they will assess your skin quality and how many treatments you are likely to need.

You may be wondering whether skin tightening procedures for arms, stomach, or thighs is a permanent procedure. It is; you can expect lasting improvements to your body. What is important to recognize is that this type of treatment does not make you lose weight, rather you will lose fat. You may think this is the same thing, but with CoolSculpting your fat cells are eradicated. However, when you lose weight, they simply get smaller, and they will expand again once you put weight on again.

The amazing benefits of botox

Botox may be something you have searched for online, seeking more information about the treatment and the benefits it can bring. A lot of people are shocked to discover that there are more advantages associated with botox than they initially realised. In this section, we are going to take a look at some of the amazing benefits of botox. Firstly, did you know that botox could help to treat a squinting or twitching eye? If a patient is willing to come to a clinic due to an eye twitch, the chances are that it is pretty bad.

Some people suffer from a constant and/or rapid twitch. This can be painful and annoying while also interfering with the patient’s vision. A permanent spasm of the muscle can also occur due to holding it in a tense position for a long period of time. Luckily, a trip to a botox clinic could stop the eye twitch, providing the individual with instant relief. If you suffer from bells palsy, you may also want to consider botox offers. There are two options for bells palsy patients. Some people opt to have it administered to the non-paralyzed side of their face, which is more cosmetic.

On the other hand, it can be administered to the paralyzed side, which can prevent unwanted facial ties and help to relax the facial muscles that have tightened up. Botox is also a solution for those who suffer from migraines. It can reduce a lot of the symptoms that are associated with migraines, including nausea and sensitivity to light, making them much easier to deal with. If that was not enough, this treatment can also help to stop excessive sweating, and it can be used to treat a dropping brow.

5 Do’s and Don’ts for Grooming the Groom

5 Do’s and Don’ts for Grooming the Groom By: The Groomsman Suit Co-Founders Jeanne Foley and Diana Ganz

first dance

Typically, all eyes are on the bride on the wedding day but there is no excuse for the groom not to present his best self on the big day. Afterall, he is the man of the hour! Every bride needs her perfect complement and on the wedding day that can be best displayed through a well-dressed and well-groomed partner.

A bride-to-be often spends countless hours at the gym, bridal boutique, hair salon, and aesthetician’s office in order to look her best on the wedding day, so gents, it is important that you don’t just show up! You must put some thought into your entire look which includes what you wear in addition to your grooming (hair, nails, skin and cologne).

To give you a head start on thinking about your grooming for the wedding day, the Co-Founders of The Groomsman Suit , Diana Ganz and Jeanne Foley, have prepared 5 Do’s and Don’ts for Grooming the Groom.

5 Do’s and Don’ts for Grooming the Groom

  1. DON’T push it off until the last minute

Just like most things leading up to the wedding day, planning is key.  Whether it’s a facial, manicure, teeth whitening session, or haircut, do not push off booking your grooming appointments until the last minute.  The last thing you want to hear right before your wedding is that your barber is booked and you’re going to have to entrust arguably the most important haircut of your life to someone who doesn’t fully understand your hair. Call to book your appointments at least one month in advance and schedule each appointment the appropriate number of days in advance of the wedding as directed by the professional. Typically, you do not want to get facials the day before the wedding and also, depending how your hair grows, you may not want to shave your beard or mustache on the wedding day because of possible skin irritation. Do it a day or so before your wedding (if you can) to let any cuts or ingrown hairs fade.

  1. DO invest in good product

Whether it is for your hair, skin, nails, or wedding day fragrance, if you don’t already have specific regimens and products in place, you certainly want to do some research a few months out from the wedding day.  Using the right companion products during your skincare, shaving or hair styling routines can eliminate common grooming woes. Consider investing in a good facial cleanser, facial moisturizer, and a pre-shave oil to soften hairs before applying shaving cream (and ensure a smoother glide and less ingrown hairs). Top off your shave with a post-shave balm to moisturize your skin, minimize rashes and irritation and help any cuts heal faster. As for your hair, if you have straight hair, smooth flyaways and cowlicks with a styling wax for minimal shine and a good hold. If you have curly or textured hair, consider a styling cream to highlight your hair texture while taking care of frizz.

  1. DO consider going to a professional

If it’s not your style to perform your facial, hair, and shaving services at home, then by all means, hire a professional.  Even if you typically do these services for yourself and just want a different look or professional touch.   Make a consultation with a barber a few months in advance of the wedding to discuss and even consider testing out different shave types and possible hairstyles. By hiring a professional you won’t have to worry about any self-shave mishaps and you’ll be able to pay close attention to how your skin reacts and how fast your hair grows after so you can time your hot-towel shave perfectly right before your wedding day.  Another part of men’s grooming is selecting a signature scent.  Whether it be for just the wedding day or every day, a man of style should also give some consideration to wearing cologne.  Similar to facial, hair and shaving services, if you are not so sure on what to do or purchase, certainly enlist the help of a professional.  Head over to a local department store or cosmetics store and ask for some assistance with selecting your signature scent.  Become familiar with your preferred fragrance notes and spending budget and surely the professionals will be able to guide you towards the best fragrance.

  1. DON’T make a drastic change

Now’s not the time to be innovative and try something new (like your first handlebar mustache). Remember, you and your partner want to cherish your wedding photos for years to come, not wince when you look back at them. You want to look like yourself on your wedding day, just polished to the max. That doesn’t mean you need to be clean shaven necessarily. If people are used to seeing you in a beard, keep the beard by all means!

  1. DO practice a little

Just like the saying goes, “practice makes perfect”, so if you decide that you are going to be an expert DIY’er make sure you get some practice time in before the wedding day.  Practice the timing and technique of your shaving routine and haircuts.  Does your hair look best grown out for two weeks, or one? Nail down the beard or mustache shape and length too to see what looks best on you. Also, begin testing out your skincare products to make sure there are no unexpected skin reactions or irritations.

TGS was co-founded by lifelong friends Jeanne Foley and Diana Ganz after Jeanne’s personal experience planning her own wedding. With no other options to affordably outfit their groomsmen, she and her husband were forced to go the rental route only to be disappointed by the logistics, poor fit, and price. Jeanne’s fashion industry experience combined with Diana’s award-winning business background has proved to be a perfect fit.

Since launching out of their New York City apartment in 2016, the rapidly growing startup generated $2.5 million in sales in 2018, is projecting $8 million in sales in 2019, and is now headquartered out of a 2,200 square foot warehouse in Chicago. TGS won the Wedding Wire’s Couple’s Choice Awards in 2017 and 2018.

How To Look Your Poppin’ Best

Is there anything better than stepping out on the weekend, knowing that we’re rocking our best look? When we’re feeling our brilliant best, the whole world seems brighter, it all seems more fun, and we’re more willing to dive in and enjoy all that it has to offer. But of course, many a time we’re leaving our homes feeling, well, slightly less than our brilliant best. It’s not that we look bad — it’s just that we’re not quite strutting a look that makes us feel ten feet tall. However, while there are no guarantees that’ll have you looking amazing every single time, there are things you can do that can increase your chances. We take a look at a few of them below.

your best look

Out with the Old

We all have busy lives, and sometimes, this means that some time can pass by before we think about those things that can improve our looks, such as new clothes. The difference between looking good and looking great is fine; it’s the small things that make the difference. If your clothes are slightly old, faded, or have just otherwise seen better times, then we’re not going to feel as pristine as we can. As such, it’s worthwhile giving your wardrobe a spring clean every now and again. You might hate to throw out that beloved top of yours, but you’ll appreciate the upgrade when you’re stepping out on a Friday night.

Get Your Beauty Sleep

We all want to be out, active, and having fun. But we can’t have everything all our own way. You can have an active lifestyle, but if you’re beginning to look a little jaded, then that’s the price you pay. As such, if you want to look your brilliant best, you need to make sure you’re getting enough rest. Indeed, when it comes to looking good, one of the best things you can is simply consistently get a good night’s sleep. A body that’s well-rested will have the energy it needs to look its best.

Relaxed State of Mind

It’s not just your body that’ll want to ensure it relaxed, either — your mind will have a big impact on how you look, and feel. We’ve all seen the effects that the stress of being in power has on world leaders. Now, the effect on your body isn’t going to be quite as extreme, but you get the idea. If you know how to unwind and calm your mind, you’ll keep those stress lines and gray hairs at bay. Plus, you’ll find it easier to enter that easygoing state of mind, which always radiates positive energy.

Hit the Salon

You’ve likely got a pretty strong beauty routine that you can do in your home, but for those days and nights when you really want to stand out from the crowd, take a look at visiting the salon. They’ll be able to make your hair look in such a way that can be impossible to replicate in your home. If the salon also has a spa section, look at getting a massage or other treatments. It’ll loosen up your body — and everyone looks better when their body is in that deeply relaxed vibe, rather than with the hunched up shoulder kind of look.

Make Your Skin Glow

If your skin looks and feels good, then you feel good. A glowing face can more than makeup for less than stylish clothes, or anything else, for that matter. As such, it’s worthwhile finding a routine that works for you. This could involve testing a few different facial scrubs and moisturizers, trying facial fillers, and avoiding foods and drinks that irritate your skin. Also, keep in mind that there are plenty of ways you can inadvertently cause long-term damage to your skin, such as spending too much time in direct sunlight, drinking alcohol, and so on.

Bring that Smile

When people talk about beauty, they tend to talk about things that are just surface deep. But in actual fact, there’s much more that contributes to our overall looks. One of the biggest, for example, is attitude! Someone who’s beautiful but mopey will seem much less attractive to us than an average looking person with a killer attitude towards life. Bring the positivity, and you’ll find that the whole world glows with you. Before heading out, get thinking positive, about the world, and the people in it.

Take the tips above, and you’ll be on your way towards looking your best every time you step out.

Updating your wardrobe for spring and summer

Updating your wardrobe for spring and summer can feel like a daunting task. The runways are stacked with beautiful pieces that will be filtering through to the department stores in the next few weeks. But what are the key things that can help you go from winter to summer without needing a complete overhaul and a spend-a ton of money?

A Great Dress

Boho beach vibes are big for summer. A long floaty, light material dress with be your weekend friend. Think beach waves hair, raffia flats, and a hippy bucket bag. Maxi dresses with an empire cut are flatter for every size and shape, and they keep you cool as the heat picks up. Check out www.fillyflair.com for some beautiful options.

Animal Print Anything

Animal print is big news. You can go all out and have a fitted suit to show your wild side, or you can opt for a little pop of print in the form of boots, bags, and accessories. During the fashion weeks, you could spot fashionistas wearing animal print in brights, paired with crossbody bags in matching colors.

If you don’t love it too loud then an animal print pump or ankle boot, with some distressed black jeans and french tucked white shirt is laid back and effortlessly chic.

Or you could always let your inner rock god(dess) out and go for some good ol’ leopard print leggings and a band tee.

Do The Hippy Shake

hippie look

As mentioned in the great dress section, it’s all about the hippy vibes. If you have been waiting for the perfect moment to turn into Stevie Nicks and float down the street in espadrilles, giant boho hoops and layered up bracelets – this is your time.

If you aren’t in the mood to drop a lot of coin, then head to your local thrift stores. They’re usually fully stocked on original styles from the hippy era for a lot less than the high street.

Playsuit Upgraded

The playsuits and jumpsuits have been big for the last few years. And while it’s safe to say that sometimes they’re not practical, but they look stunning, they play a key part in easy dressing. This summer you’re going to see the playsuit get a utilitarian upgrade. The Boilersuit is here, and it’s bringing pockets, buttons, khaki tones and sleeves.

Just like playsuits and jumpsuits, you’ll need to find one to fit your body type, but there are so many options you’ll be spoiled for choice.

Puff Shoulders

Nothing says ‘look at me’ quite as much as a power shoulder. They spruce up any silhouette without much effort and have numerous styles. The 80s are the gift that keeps on giving, and everyone is here for it.

If you opt for the puffy shoulders, try to keep the rest of your look stripped back. Going overboard is easy.

When it comes to trend, you shouldn’t feel pressure to buy everything (or anything), instead, pick what works for you. Check out second-hand clothing stores and eBay to pick up vintage pieces and then add mix and match your accessories for fresh looks.
