“Bow tie” it up

I have always loved learning anything and everything about this industry and on top of that I also love history. Little did I know that back when I was a tween and found my passion that history and the beauty/fashion industries go hand in hand. What do I mean by that you ask? The more I learned about clothes, or makeup etc. the more I started realizing that each style, or product has its own historical background. There is one particular fashion statement that has made its way back into the scene that I cannot wait to share its history with you. Its none other than…. THE BOW TIE!!!!

Alot of my guys friends have incorporated the bow tie into their own personal style. Not only that being a lover of all things vintage, have noticed “Old Hollywood” celebrities rocking the bow tie as well. After doing some research I found the bow tie became widely popular back in the 19th century as a modification of the “cavat” tie. By the 1880s, bow ties made their way into the closets of the fashion conscience man. In 1886 Pierre Lorillard designed the black bow tie and wore it to formal ball. Thus getting the infamous “black tie affair” term. Isn’t that awesome? But there is more about this statement that really shocked me. In the 1920s & 30s the famous men’s fashion statement quickly cross gendered & started being worn by women on the silver screen. Two in particular are Katherine Hepburn & Marlene Dietrich.

Fast forward to 2015 and the famous bow tie is now a statement made by men and women of all ages. Throughout the years, its design has been revamped, redefined, fabrics have been changed and now can be made with the person in mind. We can see celebrities such as Drew Barrymore & Johnny Depp sporting the bow tie & even fashion blogs all over showcase fashionistas donning them. Is it amazing how a simple accessory that was actually made to showcase what your “class” was is now one of the most popular statements? I wish I could share even more with you on the bow tie but we would be here forever and a century. If you want to learn more about the bow tie and even how you too can get one check out https://www.thebowtie.com/bow-tie-history/ Make your statement last 🙂

2015 Swimsuit Trends for Every Body

Temperatures hitting 90 degrees or more in many parts of the country this week have a lot of us heading to the beach or the pool trying to keep cool.  But with such a wide range of swimsuit trends this year, there’s something out there to help every woman look HOT!  Here are some of the hottest swimwear trends for 2015 that I shared on FOX46 “Good Day Charlotte” this week:
[vimeo]https://vimeo.com/131974624[/vimeo]

Trends #1 & #2:  Flutter Tops and Tribal Prints

Fluttery, flouncy tops and tribal prints will be everywhere this summer!  My first model, Rachel Petsiavas, looked amazing in this fabulous Tribal Set from Despi Beachwear.

Despi Beachwear

Whether you choose fringes (like this one) or soft ruffles, these tops are a super cute way to add volume to the look of your bust without padding.  And they’re great for adding movement when you walk!  Also be on the lookout for fresh and bold detailed tribal patterns in a multitude of colors in women’s swimwear this summer.  Find this look at www.despibeachwear.com

Trend #3: Sheer Mesh Panels

Minnow Bathers

Fellow Glam Gal Elizabeth Colen wore this white hot one-piece from Minnow Bathers to illustrate the trend toward mesh paneling.  It’s a great way to show “a little something” while still being mostly covered!

The Eddie Bather has a curved central mesh panel in front and is sexy low cut in back.  It’s fully lined and available in sizes XS-XL.  If you like a more sporty or athletic look, this could be a great option for you.  Want to add a little more glam?  Try some silver and gold jewelry-inspired temporary tattoos!  Get the Eddie Bather at www.minnowbathers.com

Trend #4: High-Waist Bikini Bottoms

image

Hannah Sailor showed one of my favorite of this year’s trends: High-Waisted Bikini bottoms. As you might guess, these are a great option if you don’t happen to have perfectly sculpted abs and hips.  But the Cassie suit from Cleo Swim by Panache really does look fantastic on a wide variety of body types.  Either way, this classic retro look helps create a beautiful hourglass figure and will have you feeling super confident walking around the beach!

Cleo Swim by Panache is the perfect swimsuit line for women who wear a size D-cup and larger. www.panache-lingerie.com/us/products/list/cleo-swim-by-panache

Trend #5: Cropped Tops

Crop tops are not only popular on the streets this year, but also on the beach.  On the street, they are meant to reveal a little skin; at the beach, use them to cover up a little!

image

The Kalos Crop Top from Guria Beachwear is a great example of this trend and Amanda Knolle looked super sexy sporting this look!  The top is made of high-quality swimwear material, but is perfect for wear in or out of the water.

Pair it with Guria’s cute matching crochet detail bikini bottoms (in American and Brazilian cuts) and a gold body chain for a summer beach look that can’t be beaten! Find this fabulous swimsuit combination and many other great options at www.guriabeachwear.com.br!

Trend #6: Sexy One-Pieces

Many thanks again to Guria Beachwear for providing the perfect example of my final beachwear trend:  the Sexy One-Piece. Brittany Bass wowed in this classic glam look!  The Favela – Plunge One-Piece in American and Brazilian cuts is an unmistakable reminder that the maillot is no longer considered matronly and that all sorts of women now realize that skimpier does not always mean sexier… Ooh-la-la!

Nothing like Miami’s heat

The South Beach heat came all the way to Tampa Bay with the M.I.A 2 The Bay “All White” Fashion Party. A show and a party all in one, it was truly a night to remember. Featuring designers Hakat Re By Lance Stephens, ADreamRocks By Tiffany Ward, & Ankara by Ester L. They truly brought Miami’s heat!

With guest host Rima from The Bad Girls Club (season 9) M.I.A 2 The Bay was unlike any other fashion show I have been too. Everything from the food to where it was held was just unbelievable. Then came the fashions! Each designer brought their own taste to the runway. We had everything from Ancient Egypt (Hakat Re) inspired to blinged out beach attire (ADream Rocks) that “shined bright like diamonds”.

M.I.A 2 The Bay also gives back to the community to families in the Tampa and Miami area as well as benefiting children for the 2015-16 school year. This was the 3rd annual fashion show of M.I.A 2 The Bay. For more information on M.I.A 2 The Bay visit http://www.mia2thebay.weebly.com/

100 years of Fashion!

Fashion is ever-changing, with trends going in and out of style at warp speed in this fast-moving, social media-obsessed world. To help viewers navigate the last century of female fashion, Mode Studios created a two minute video tour highlighting the best of the past 100 years of fashion.

While most "evolution of" videos only focus on the shoulders up, this clip gives viewers a full-length tour of what ladies donned when looking to turn heads starting in 1915 through the present day using authentic clothing from each period.

True to its name, is truly an “all white” event. Everything from food, decorations and even what we will be wearing. I am so excited because I have never been to an “All White” event.
