“Gold” with a “Curly Twist”

Soft, bouncy, frizz free curls are right at your fingertips with Goldwell Curly Twist Dual Senses line. I hated my curly hair growing up and could never seem to get it to do what I wanted it to. On top of that having a dry scalp and sensitive skin made it even harder. Goldwell not only cleansed and conditioned the curls but soothed the itchy scalp as well.

Goldwell Curly Twist

A few weeks ago a friend of mine was telling me how she used to be an educator for Goldwell and having not been to familiar with the line I wanted to find out more. In the very first use of the Curly Twist line I noticed a difference. Hair was softer, curls were more bouncy and the beautiful shine with no greasy feel. The best part, all the excess product was gone. The shampoo, conditioner and the mask treatment became my lifesaver to get my curls back to normal.

I do not wash my hair everyday, and so on those days I use my 60 second mask treatment from Curly Twist. This helps strengthen and add lustrous bounce to the curls. I couldn’t believe it only needed 60 seconds to work! WOW! After I rinse it our and dry it I spray the 2-1 leave in 2-phase spray. This adds extra elasticity to the curl and helps aid in styling.

I cannot express enough about the entire Goldwell Curly Twist line. We would be here all night haha! Goldwell is sold in exclusive salons all around the world and to see where you too can get it, and for more info on the products check out www.goldwell.us

New York, NY – Celebrity Hair Stylist Yves Durif has injected his elegant art deco Salon, located inside the historic Carlyle Hotel, with new energy and style with the appointment of several new stylists and colorists, a brow expert and an eyelash specialist. The new appointments also allow the Yves Durif Salon at The Carlyle to expand their schedule and provide service on Sundays and Mondays.

“I am so honored and fortunate to be able to grow my fabulous team and the services we can provide to our clients by introducing this group of trendsetting stylists who share my vision of an individualized approach to hairstyling,” says Durif.

With over 30 years in the Beauty Business – both behind the chair and owning her own establishment – Yvette Chabrier joins the Yves Durif Team and works her magic as both a stylist and a colorist. Her special formula is both talent and personal intuition which has been nurtured by her other passion in life, the practice and philosophy of Yoga.

A gentleman of great style himself, Manabu’s work is dedicated to lending style and beauty to his fiercely loyal clientele. His extraordinary editorial work can be seen in the pages of such publications as W, Allure, Vogue, Nylon and Paper Magazines.

From her personal presentation, to the wonders of the colors that she crafts, Alexis Unno is an artist of perfection who also joins the Yves Durif Team from the Garren Salon. Her keen sense of style has ingratiated her to a myriad of trendsetting clients in the world of fashion and her work has been featured in such publications as Vogue, Vogue Italia, GQ, W, Interview, Allure, Teen Vogue and Latina Magazines.

A colorist and stylist, Tim Johnson joins the Yves Durif Team with over 20 years of experience working in the beauty industry. His work has graced the runways at fashion shows and hit the red carpet at both the Sundance Gala and the Academy Awards. He brings a calming nature with him and helps any person who sits in his chair enter into a world of trust and happiness.

Jessica Johnson is known on both coasts as the woman to see for sensational brows. Her 25 years of experience in brow shaping and aesthetics make her an industry expert and innovator who routinely works with celebrities and all who strive to “frame their face” with perfect brows. Jessica joins the team in the Salon every other Thursday and Friday as a Guest Brow Expert.

Specializing in eyelash extensions and brows, Vashaya Ramsey also joins the Yves Durif Team every other week, and aims to help women feel confident in their own skin. Her work has graced the pages of Vogue and Elle Magazines, The New York Times, as well as appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

“With such a broad and diverse new staff, my Salon is like the United Nations of Hairstyling,” says Durif, “Each member of my team has the extraordinary skills to bring out the best in everyone.”

The Yves Durif Salon at The Carlyle is located at 35 East 76th Street on the 3rd Floor of The Carlyle Hotel. For more information about The Yves Durif Salon at The Carlyle visit www.yvesdurif.com

About Yves Durif: Yves Durif’s illustrious career began in Paris at the age of 17 inside of the celebrated Jacques Dessange Salon. Through passion and persistence he won over the hair and hearts of his clients and mentors and quickly became a sought after artist. At 30, he made his move to New York City where he met Bruno Pittini, artistic director at The Bruno Dessange Salon. Yves and Pittini quickly formed a bond and he often credits Bruno for helping him realize exactly what makes a haircut “work”.

In November 1997, Yves Durif opened the doors to his namesake salon nestled in a landmark brownstone in New York’s Upper East Side. In 2008, he moved the salon to its current location at The Carlyle. Over the past 40 years, Yves has garnered the trust and loyalty of a discerning, sophisticated clientele ranging from outré style-setters, to CEOs, socialites, celebrities, artists and elegant Manhattanites.

Its just that Amazing!

When you have one product that can do a multitude of things, it can easily becomes one of those “I cant live without it” deals. That’s how I feel about my Amazing Cosmetics Perfection Sticks. Coming in 4, moisturizing shades, from fair to deep, covering, contouring and highlighting was never easier. Even as a professional I still had some trouble getting the right look of it. The great thing about the Perfection Sticks is you don’t have to be a professional to use them and also they are portable so you can take all this with you.

Not only is Amazing Cosmetics Perfection Stick ideal for contouring, highlighting and covering but you can also use it for prepping the eyelids for eye shadow. It will help accentuate the colors, keep them from creasing and make them last longer. Use it as a highlighter around the brow bone to make eyes pop and define the eyebrow. I also, found that dabbing just a little bit on the top and bottom lips will keep your lipstick or lip gloss last longer as well.

I highly recommend the Perfection Sticks for anyone with oily/combination skin, & even if you have dry skin. The sticks are moisturizing and easy to apply so you wont feel like your pores are being clogged or heavy. I have used products for covering and I feel like I'm putting oil directly on my skin. Not with these though. Its like silk when it glides on your skin. Little by little they turn from sticks to your go to "magic wands".

There is just so much you can do with the Amazing Cosmetics Perfection Stick that we would be here forever trying to talk about it. I share some of my favorite ways to do it in my video and be sure to check out www.amazingcosmetics.com for more tips tricks and products!

Cleanse your hair with “Gold”

A shampoo & conditioner that does what they say! I had been using up shampoo & conditioner at home to not be wasteful. It really didn’t seem to be a problem until after I had some highlights put in my hair and spent a few days at the beach. The split end look arrived big time and it was definitely noticeable! I asked my “cosmetology” daughter what to do & she suggested Goldwell Dual Senses.

The first thing I noticed in using it was the wonderful light fragrance. It smelled a bit “fruity”, but not overwhelming; perfect! Then I noticed the texture of my hair was softer & it actually felt lighter. Now I was getting impressed. My hair in just a few short minutes smelled good and felt good. Wow! I couldn’t help but wonder if the disappointment was yet to come later. After my shower, I was anxious to get to my mirror to see how manageable my hair would be. First I noticed the ends actually looked better and when I ran a comb through, their was no tangles; that’s right, no tangles. The highlighted color looked great and showed no lightening or change in shade. So far, I thought this shampoo is perfect, but I didn’t want to make a final judgment until I had used these products a few times.

Sometimes I have to wash my hair more often than I should because after working outside in the yard I have to head to the shower. Two or three times the first week, I washed my hair using Goldwell Dual Senses and I got the same great results, so I am now a “user” of this fine product. It has made a difference in not only how my hair looks, but also how it feels.

I read the shampoo/conditioner containers and noticed it is made in Germany and is a salon exclusive product, so ask your hairstylist about Goldwell Dual Senses Fade Stop Shampoo, especially if you use any color.

Half up/down hairstyles are here to stay

Half-up styles are back in a big way, but it’s already time to take this look to the next level. If you’re sick of the tired top knot or just ready to evolve the look, try this new twist on the effortless hairstyle, straight from the experts at Butterfly Studio Salon. Ideal for natural texture or 2nd (even 3rd!) day hair, it works with any length and texture. A lifesaver for frizzy hair days and so simple to create – not even a brush is needed!

hair 1/2 up 1/2 down

hair 1/2 up 1/2 down

How-To: Half-Up Double Knot

1. First step: texturizing product/dry shampoo, which is essential for grip and hold when styling. (Kattia Solano, owner of Butterfly Studio loves Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray on the crown area) Lift hair, taking it by sections, spray at the root as if you were teasing and then massage through with your hands to work the product in.

2. Using your hands, section out a “horse shoe” shape of hair at the crown area. Thicker hair can opt for larger section while thinner hair can work with a smaller amount of hair. Rake through with your hands to brush and pull back hair to create a clean section.

3. With a small hair tie in one hand, take a section of hair and pull halfway through the tie, so that you are left with a little “pom-pom.” Wrap elastic around 2-3 times until secure without pulling all of the hair through. (Use small clear elastics so you won’t see the tie, and in case you don’t wrap any hair around the knot the ties will be discreet.)

4. Open up the pom-pom with your fingertips for fullness to create a textured knot, then wrap the hair ends around your knot once and tuck hair under the elastic band with ends sticking out. Keep the remaining length right under the pom-pom, as you will use the extra hair length to help with fullness and perfectly messy texture for your next knot.

5. Create your next section right below the first by taking 1 1/2 to 2 inches of hair from the sides (horse shoe of “V” part all the way around the head). Use your hands again to gather and comb the hair back, then combine the hair ends from your first knot with your new section and repeat steps 3 and 4 – tying right under the first pom-pom, tucking through and leaving ends free. If your hair is long enough you can even wrap the extra hair around in a “figure eight” motion around both knots for detail.

6. To finish, spritz a little hairspray and then make it your own. Don’t be afraid to muss it up – the more texture the better! To complete the look, Kattia recommends adding some height/volume at the front top of the head by slightly pulling/gently tugging hair up at the root with your fingers.

*With this hairstyle, volume is always at your side to rid limp hair and that unwanted greasy summer look once and for all. Play with positioning and create more knots for a change up or more customization for how you can wear it. You can even use bobby pins to change the knot shapes.

Summer glow skincare tips

In the changing season our skincare routine needs to change up just a little as well. Getting to experiment and try out new things is what I am all about and I want to share some of my favorite skin care products for the summer. I find these may be best for oily to combination skin.

Beautiful summer glows start with cleansed skin. I am currently using Mary Kay’s Time Wise cleanser. In the summer, having oily skin, the oil glands can tend to feel like they are producing more oil. Time Wise is lightweight, creamy cleanser that helps to really slow down the oil production.

Moisturize!! Especially here in the summer months. If oily skin can get oilier then sometimes dry skin can get even dryer. No matter which skin type you have, moisturizer is what really balances out the over all look and feel of your skin. I currently use two moisturizers, and one facial oil, each one serves a different purpose. Seba Med is one I like to use to help slow down my oil and clear my skin of acne. The other is my Mad Hippie Face Cream. This one is my anti aging go to moisturizer. I use my Seba Med first let it dry then put my Mad Hippie on.

After we moisturize we cant forget to show the peepers some love. Goldfaden MD’s eye cream has been my eye opener. I use my ring finger and apply on the eye socket rather than directly under the eye.

Skincare is very important but beautiful skin starts on the inside. Healthy eating, and drinking plenty of water is the number one factor to beautiful glowing skin. Below I have compiled all these in a video which I have posted below. “I hope you enjoy and for some healthy eating check out ALOHA for some at home healthy recipes” Be sure to bookmark these!
