Britney Spears Fantasy Twist is Brilliant

The new Britney Spears perfume duo Fantasy Twist contains two of my favorites in her fragrance collection, Fantasy and Midnight Fantasy. Fantasy, has a very sweet and seductive smell to it. I would recommend this to anyone from ages 13 to 25.  The perfume bottle is about 2 inches tall and 2 inches wide. It can fit into the palm of my hand as you can see in the picture below. Fantasy Twist is a great accessory to take with you on a trip because it won’t take up a lot of room. To apply the perfume you pull up where the dangly keychain is in the front while also simultaneously pulling down.

Once you open the perfume it splits into two separate halfs each containing a fragrant perfume. The “blue half” holds the fragrance Midnight Fantasy. This fragrance has more of a stronger scent which I could see an older teen using. The “pink half”, called Fantasy, has more of a sweet smell, not as mature. When I opened the bottle, I couldn’t decide which exciting scent to wear first. Try wearing one of the fragrances alone, or spice up your night and wear them together.  Britney Spears Fantasy Twist holds two of my favorite fragrances and I can’t wait to see what Brittney’s next fragrance will be. kohls.com/

Vans Custom Culture

Vans, in partnership with celebrity judges, Emma Roberts, Whitney Port, Timo Weiland, Christian Jacobs, and Steve Caballero hosted a NYC event last night to celebrate the conclusion of their 2013 Custom Culture initiative.

In the final round of the Fourth Annual nationwide art contest, Vans Custom Culture brought the Top 5 Final High Schools and an all-star celebrity panel of judges together for an art showcase of the school’s custom Vans designs to media, students, celebrities and industry professionals. The celebrity panel selected the grand prize winning high school and awarded $50,000 to their arts program.

Guests in attendance included: celebrities Emma Roberts, Whitney Port, Timo Weiland, Christian Jacobs and Steve Caballero.

In light of decreased educational funding, Vans created this phenomenally-cool project to help ignite creativity and raise funds and awareness for the importance of ART in high schools all over the US. My Interview with Celebrity Hairstylist/Master Colorist Kim Vo

The best part of the year for me is getting to go to the Premiere Orlando Hair Show.  Held at the Orange County Convention Center, Premiere Orlando is definitely party city for all things beauty related.   Every year I get invited to meet and try out the newest and hottest products on the market.

Even though Premiere Orlando is mostly products and education, there is a side to the show not many people get to experience.  While at the show I got to meet and interview celebrity hairstylist/master colorist Kim Vo.  Kim and his mother emigrated from Vietnam when Kim was very young.  He started his hairstyling career in New York City.He actually said that he never had a mentor. He said he was believed more in inspiration. His inspiration came from Wolfgang Puck.  He later moved to California, where he now owns 4 salons. Having been in the hair industry for 18 years, Kim is now one of Hollywood’s hottest hairstylists and has been named “The Best Blonder in the Business”.  Having used Swartzkoptf Professionals for 10 years, Kim calls them the “Blonde Ambassador”.  Kim has worked for Swartzkoptf Professionals now for 1 ½ years.  “Swartzkoptf does what it says it does. I love it for red carpet.”

Having clients such as Britney Spears and Kate Hudson, Kim shared with me the inside secrets of how to create “Hollywood Hair”.  I asked Kim the differences in styling and coloring hair for Music Videos, Stage and photo shoots.  He told me “When you are working on hair for a music video you are going for a more fantasy look.  This is what I call the whisper effect.  When coloring the hair you add more gold to the color so it will show up on camera”. Styling hair for the stage requires more than one person. “This is where Hollywood really comes into play.  You can have up to 4 stylists at a time dressing the hair to make it look fresh and new every time.”  And for a photo shoot, Kim said “Use products that don’t weigh the hair down.  You must also dress the hair to perfection.”

When closing I asked Kim what was his advice to young stylists, like myself, just starting out. He said “ You must work hard and put your best effort forward every day.  Some days will be better than others but you will grow every day.”

Kim definitely gave me some awesome advice; not only for working behind the chair, but also for the way you treat people.  I love Kim Vo and I hope to see him again soon.

Antje Traue at ‘Man of Steel’ World Premiere – Hair by Thomas Dunkin for Sebastian Professional

SEBASTIAN PROFESSIONAL STYLIST THOMAS DUNKIN COIFS ANTJE TRAUE FOR THE WORLD PREMIERE OF ‘MAN OF STEEL’

 

On Monday, June 10th at the Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City, actress Antje Traue walked the red carpet for the world premiere of the highly anticipated film, ‘Man of Steel.’  Traue, who plays the character Faora-UI, donned a chic, curve hugging white dress along with a soft, retro-inspired updo crafted by Sebastian Professional Lead Stylist Thomas Dunkin. Of the look, Dunkin says, “This is a very simple way to create a polished updo for a formal evening without looking too done up.”

To achieve Antje’s vintage hair look, follow Thomas’ tips:

1.)    Begin by soaking hair thoroughly with Sebastian Professional Thickefy Foam.

2.)   Once hair is saturated, blow dry using a large round brush and create as much root lift and volume as possible.

3.)   After hair is dried, take 2” sections of hair and wrap each section around a large barreled curling iron.

4.)   Once all of the sections are curled, brush through and create a ponytail, leaving out the pieces that fall naturally.

5.)    Spritz Sebastian Professional Shaper to keep the hair in place all night long.
