AER Launches Cordless Hair Dryer

Rising company AER announced the launch of the world’s first professional-grade, smart cordless hair dryer. Driven by a desire to advance technology in hair care tools, the AER Dryer introduced a proprietary first of its kind Lithium Silicon battery that allows for the power required for cordless capability and the performance equal or greater to the premiere hair dryers on the market. In addition, the AER Dryer provides significantly less carbon dioxide emissions than current high-wattage electric hair dryers. The AER Dryer was designed to be smarter, advance hair health, be healthier, and allow its users the freedom to travel and be free (from cords).

Designed in the U.S. and engineered to meet the ever-evolving needs of mobile lifestyles, the dryer is the first “Smart” hair dryer to utilize artificial intelligence to promote hair health. The SmartDry AI mode uses 13 sensors throughout the device that read environmental and temperature conditions in real time. This unique feature of the AER Dryer uses data to adjust the airflow and temperature to prevent excess damage caused by overheating, while maintaining fast dry times. As the device learns from the data it collects, the AER Dryer can load and record dynamic “SmartDry Profiles” that can be adjusted for specific hair types, lengths and weather conditions.

The SmartDry AI Technology integrates via a smartphone app. The dryer’s firmware receives updates via Bluetooth, enabling future smart functionality and upgrades. The AER Dryer keeps getting smarter and will continue to improve over time.

The AER Dryer is versatile and can operate with a cord or and cordless on battery power. The run time of the AER Dryer while cordless is up to 4 hours depending on the heat setting. The charge time using the charging cradle is approximately 90 minutes. When corded or resting on the cradle, the battery is continuously charging even while in use.

“Over the past seven years our battery technology team at AER has pushed the boundaries in consumer battery cell technology, creating the most revolutionary cordless hairdryer the world has ever seen,” said Eric Nelson (President/Co-founder).

At a weight of approximately two pounds, the dryer’s lightweight ergonomic design provides freedom to dry hair on the move and wherever you may go. The AER Dryer features LED indicators in the front for different heat and fan settings, multiple temperature sensors to regulate air temperature, a humidity sensor, a three-axis accelerometer to detect motion and gestures, an advanced Battery Management System (BMS) that optimizes run-time and battery cell life, and a Bluetooth transceiver for connecting to AER’s smartphone app for updates and data insights. In addition, the AER Dryer is noticeably quiet, delivering an improved user experience.

What made the AER Dryer possible was a collaboration with engineering firm Stafl Systems who is most known for their work on record-breaking electric cars and AER’s battery team which invented the chemistry behind the next generation Lithium Silicon AER battery cell technology. Independent tests have shown that AER’s battery power and energy density is far greater than any other battery cell on the market today. Meticulously engineered, this superior battery provides power to the AER Dryer’s energy efficient motors and precision fan blades all the while allowing for controlled ergonomic flow and a balanced, comfortable feel.

Having initiatives in developing eco-friendly technology, the AER Dryer is up to 77% more energy-efficient than conventional hair dryers, using less than one third of the average energy per drying cycle. In a study by AER, the average user dries his or her hair 300 days per year between 12-30 min per day. Under these conditions, using the AER Dryer would generate a savings of 124 kWh. At an average of 1.22 pounds of CO2 per kilowatt-hour, there would be a savings of 151 pounds of CO2 each year, per user. Once AER achieves just three percent market penetration, it will eliminate 226,500 tons of CO2 annually. With a total worldwide market size of $6.7b, it is estimated that if one million traditional hair dryers were replaced with AER Dryers, it would be the equivalent of removing 45,000 cars from the road. To reduce the carbon footprint left by hair tools and to promote AER’s initiatives advancing corporate environmental sustainability, AER will launch its #Roadtoamillion campaign upon its release.

Beside energy conservation, cordless capability and benefits of hair health, the AER Dryer’s sleek design make it one of the most uniquely attractive tools to enter the haircare market. Made of soft-touch plastics with metallicized accents, it will be available in three color variations: black, white and deep green. The dryer will include a battery charging cradle, detachable AC power cord and come with both a diffuser and concentrator attachment. It will retail for $389 at www.AERdryer.com and select retail partners. AER will launch March 2, 2020 on Kickstarter and available direct to consumers and brick in mortar stores by Fall 2020. In addition, AER will be giving away 10 hair dryers to select subscribers through a giveaway contest. The company will also be rolling out with additional cordless products in the Fall of 2020 with the aim to revolutionize haircare tools with the use of artificial intelligence and advanced technology.

Euphoria Star Barbie Ferreira Debuts 2020’s “It” Haircut – The Modern Mullet

Cut by Celebrity Hairstylist Laurie Heaps @_hairbylaurie

Done right before The Golden Globes, LA based celebrity hairstylist Laurie Heaps shares how she created Euphoria star Barbie Ferreira’s NEW mullet cut and ways to style one of 2020’s hottest hair trends.

How to get the look…..

“To start, Barbie had a long-layered bob that was just above the shoulders. To achieve this new look, we cut about four inches from the sides and top,” reveals Laurie. “Barbie wanted a change and something different. She tends to avoid anything that might read as generic or typical. I love that she leans towards edgier & riskier hairstyles.”

With a razor and scissors, Laurie created the mullet style cut by chopping into sections for texture. She cut the sides and top and then blended this into the back, leaving the length there. “For this style, we wanted to really accentuate the short in the front long in the back look.”

Why the Modern Mullet? “Barbie said she wanted something piecey and Elf like. We looked through at a lot of pictures together and then just created this vision of a modern mullet.”

Tips for Styling

  • The beauty of this look is that it can be cut for any hair type – just add texture with an undone feel. You can embrace your natural waves and curls, wear it straight or switch it up by adding extra bends and dimension with hot tools.
  • For a great heat styler, try a smaller version of your favorite flat iron. CHI’s Lava Ceramic Hairstyling Iron comes in a great travel size perfect for shorter cuts like this. Taking ½” pieces of hair or smaller, use a wrist flicking technique to wave the iron back and forth down the section. This will give it some chic twists and smooth, tousled curves with just the right amount of bend to them.
  • Whether you choose to wear your Modern Mullet curly or straight, I recommend a great texturizing spray like Redken’s Triple Dry 15 Dry Texture Finishing Spray. This one gives styles airy texture and lift.

10 QUESTIONS ABOUT COSMETIC SURGERY YOU HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW- ANSWERED BY A BOARD- CERTIFIED PLASTIC SURGEON

www.drmanishshah.com

Thank you to Dr. Manish Shah, Board- Certified Denver, Colorado Plastic Surgeon for sharing your knowledge with us.

How long do breast implants last until they have to be removed and done again?
Although the implants themselves last forever, their structural integrity does not. Over time, the average wear and tear could cause a rupture or leak. In general, saline or silicone implants should be replaced or removed every 10 to 15 years if you notice any changes. A rupture in a saline implant tends to be more noticeable, as the deflation is visible. While that may sound scary, it’s actually quite harmless, as the saline is just absorbed by the body. However, it is not as easy to notice if a silicone implant has ruptured. For this reason, most doctors will recommend an MRI every 2 years for their patients with silicone implants to check for leaks. Implants may need to be removed or replaced for other reasons too, but in general, should last from 10 to 25 years.

If I have fat removed through liposuction, will it reappear elsewhere?
Technically, yes, it is possible for the fat to return, but only if you let it come back. If the patient maintains their weight, the fat will not return or appear somewhere else on your body. A little bit of weight gain is fine, such as 5 to 10 pounds, as long as patients stay close to their “post-lipo weight”. Because fat cells accumulate in an evenly distributed manner, weight gain tends to be more noticeable in areas that are untreated than treated. So, even patients who gained a considerable amount of weight post-lipo look better than they did if they had not undergone surgery.

After repeated Botox injections, will facial muscles ever lose the ability to frown?
Even though one of the side effects of Botox is difficulty smiling or frowning, the effects of Botox wear off in 3 to 4 months. Repeated use of Botox causes the muscles treated to atrophy and thin out. When they “wake” back up they tend to be weaker and less likely to make wrinkle. This is why many consider Botox a great anti-aging treatment. Botox can be administered in a way in which it does not freeze the muscle completely. This is something you would discuss with your injector.

Discuss with the injector what your goals are. Some people such as actors need to be able to express themselves. In this case, Botox can be administered so as not to freeze the muscle completely. Others want certain muscles not to move at all. An experienced injector has the knowledge to make adjustments. We also have the ability to combine Botox with other treatments to assist your goals.

I thought silicone breast implants can rupture, so why are they still used?
Both saline and silicone implants can leak. But, it is much harder to tell when a silicone implant has ruptured over a saline implant. Someone with silicone implants may go months or even years without noticing. This is due to the very thick and viscous silicone filling, moving only at very slow rates. It will generally stay within the capsule of breast tissue surrounding your implant, which makes for a simple replacement. Additionally, silicone is the gold standard against which other implantable materials get compared. It is a safe material when used in the human body.

Will liposuction eliminate cellulite?
Although patients used to think liposuction could eliminate cellulite, today doctors are not recommending it for that use. In some cases, liposuction can actually make the cellulite worse by creating more dimples in the skin. While it is true that excess fat can make cellulite worse, it’s not the real cause. Liposuction on the thighs and butt only marginally improve the appearance of cellulite. On the contrary, thin skin in these areas can exacerbate the problem, especially in older women where the skin tends to be less elastic.

Doctors have found that ultrasound and laser-assisted liposuction can effectively reduce cellulite because it tightens the skin as it removes fat. But again, these alone will not rid you of cellulite.

Will I have to wear my hair over my ears to cover face-lift scars?
On average, face-lift scars around the ears take about six months to fade and become almost invisible. You probably are going to want to wear your hair down for the first month for recovery purposes. It’s best to choose a hairstyle within this time that will not apply added pressure to the area of incision while still helping to cover up the scar at the same time. Ask your doctor how soon it is safe for you to wear makeup over the scar as a cover up option until they fully fade.

Can my breast implants pop?
Unfortunately, yes breast implants can “pop”, but it is rare and easily treatable. Both saline and silicone implants have an outer shell that can potentially develop a tear, called a rupture. The rupture could be caused by a variety of things such as normal aging of the implant, trauma caused by a car accident, a needle insertion during a biopsy, or other factors. If you experience any changes in breast shape and size, and increased pain, firmness, and swelling over a period of weeks, these may be signs that your implant has ruptured. Most corrective surgeries include removing both implants and replacing them in the same surgery. Your surgeon might also recommend that you switch to a different type of implant. In any case, discuss with your doctor in detail the best option to avoid risk of rupture in the future.

What happens if I’m not happy with my surgical results?

The first step is to be patient. Some patients look good in as fast as three weeks, others three months, and, for some, the full results aren’t apparent until six months after surgery. You should wait for all the post-surgical swelling and bruising to go away completely before fretting over the end result.

With that being said, speak up if you are feeling anxious. At your follow-up appointment, it is perfectly fine to voice to your surgeon that you are feeling disappointed. A good doctor will address your concerns, walk you through the recovery process, and if necessary, talk about the next steps.

How soon after my lipo can I have sex?
After having a procedure like liposuction or a tummy tuck, you will definitely feel some moderate soreness and swelling. It’s normal. When it comes to resuming sexual activity, your personal level of comfort plays a large factor as there is no specific body structure you can damage after liposuction. This means your soreness or the healing process of your incisions may be the only thing stopping you from being intimate. As soon as you feel both physically and emotionally ready, you are safe to resume having sex. For most patients, it takes about a week.  But if we removed excess fat on large areas of your thighs, belly, and/or buttocks, you might have to wait a week to ten days. Before then, your body will be tender and that could make the experience painful.

What is the youngest age you would consider performing a facelift?

When evaluating a patient for facelift surgery, age is only a relative consideration. I’ve performed facelifts on patients under 40 years of age who lost a lot of weight causing their face to deflate and sag. That being said, most facelift or neck lift procedures are performed on patients between 45-70 years old. If the volume loss can be managed by treatments other than facelift surgery, patients will opt for them. However, once those minimally invasive or noninvasive treatments no longer cut it, a patient can choose to have a facelift. For some patients that may be in their early 40’s.

Is there a trendy cosmetic procedure that you feel is a waste of money and time?

The procedure that I find a waste of time and money is Kybella. It is so expensive for patients and has significant social downtime. I can get better results, more quickly with neck liposuction. Also, I am still waiting to see if patients can get decent results with Sculptra injections for buttocks augmentation. For doctors that can’t perform surgical procedures, or for patients who want to avoid surgery, these may be their only choices.
