Color Outside Of The Lines: Why You Need To Dress Outside Of Your Normal Style Sometimes

While you may have got your style down to a fine art, do you really venture outside of it these days? We all know that there are things that suit us down to the ground but the big problem is that we stick to these things so rigidly that we are doing ourselves a disservice. It’s important we find a different style sometimes, but we can only do this if we dress outside of what we normally wear. Why do you need to dress out of your normal style on occasion?

It Gives You A Chance To Try New Prints

Some of us stay away from leopard print, others embrace it. If you are someone who, for the last few years, has been slowly coming around to the idea of leopard print, it’s always worth trying something simple like a leopard kimono, and seeing if it suits your new approach to style. Some people wouldn’t touch leopard print with a barge pole, but if you are one of these people, you could always go for something like hounds tooth instead.

You Are Trying On A New Version Of You!

It’s a great opportunity to try something different, but also, dress for a different part that you want to play. Look at your role models; they change their style every now and again, and perhaps you don’t need to necessarily put on new clothes; do something different with your hair instead. Trying on a new version of you is your duty! Become someone different, even if it’s for the day!

It May Make You Happier

We can underestimate how much clothes have an impact on us. The right clothes provide so much detail in terms of class, power, and age. But what we can also get from this is an increased sense of self-satisfaction. Changing up your style doesn’t mean dressing in odd colors if you don’t want to. Wear things that make you happy. And you don’t know if you’ve changed so much, especially if you’ve had the same style for the last 10 years, so give something different a try. Perhaps you are sticking to your early 20s styles, and it’s now time to embrace your 30s? When you look at how you present yourself, you will feel better.

It Could Change Your Life

Like they say: dress for the job you want, not the job you have! When you decide to switch up your fashion ideals and dress outside of your normal style, you may very well get inspired to go down a completely different avenue. Yes, this may seem like a very grand statement, but you’ll still look great! Having an extra bit of confidence when you look at yourself in the mirror could springboard you into new and exciting territories. There is nothing quite so empowering than the right pair of heels  and a swagger when you walk into a job interview!

And remember, even if these things don’t suit you, that’s what receipts are for! So try something new; you never know, it may change you forever!

Utica NY Laser Hair Removal and It’s Benefits for Beauty

Is hairless more attractive? Historically, women have always been required to have hairless skin on their bodies, and that includes smooth skin in parts such as the underarms, face, and, according to recent trends, in the bikini area. A survey conducted among men shows that 46% have a preference for the women going completely bare down there.

How important is manscaping down there? Thirty percent of men say that hair down there is a deal-breaker. Ouch! To make the sexes even, however, men need to trim their hair too. Chest hair, underarm hair, and hair in the abdomen need to go.

Women surveyed in a study find hairless men’s bodies more attractive. Recent trends have settled the attractiveness of hairless bodies, so how does one go about getting rid of unwanted hair to achieve flawless, smooth skin? Plucking is painful, and shaving tears the skin and leaves ugly hair follicles.

Luckily, laser hair removal is an alternative. Click here for clinics which are readily accessible and offer reliable and high-quality services. Below are just some of the benefits of laser hair removal:

  1. Removing hair with a laser is more precise

How does hair removal lasers work? Lasers use light to destroy the hair. Light is concentrated on the hair for a few seconds. The hair absorbs the light, thus destroying it, roots, and all so it won’t come back. If you have coarse hair on your chin, underarm and legs, the precision of laser can target these unwanted hairs and get rid of them completely.

You can get rid of unwanted hair speedily with laser

People are always in a hurry, and if you have a tight schedule, a laser hair removal session will not take up much of your time. A laser can remove hair in small areas in a matter of seconds. For larger areas such as the chest and legs, the procedure may take up to an hour.

  1. Laser hair removal ensures results

With other methods of hair removal, the hair comes back. Maintaining a hairless body with other procedures can be time-consuming and costly. Think of the amount you have to spend on regular waxing. Shaving is not foolproof and leaves ugly coarse hair in the skin’s pores. Plus, you will feel new hair growing back in a matter of days or weeks. These methods are not designed to induce hair loss permanently, unlike laser hair treatments.

  1. Most laser hair removal machines are now pain-free

Laser hair removal is pain-free. The technology for hair removal is so sophisticated that most laser hair removal machines have a cooling mechanism. Laser uses light, and light is transformed into heat that destroys the hair and its follicles. This process can cause sharp pain, but the cooling mechanism mitigates the pain caused by the heat. The machine gives blasts of cooling air constantly while the laser performs its work so you can have hair removal sessions comfortably and without pain.

  1. Laser hair removal means less skin irritation

What is worse than coarse hair would be an ingrown hair. Laser hair treatments can specifically target hairs that are ingrown and remove it. You need several sessions to obliterate hair using laser hair removal methods. If your hair does grow back again, it comes back thinner and straighter. Hair that grows straight means less irritation, so you won’t have just smoother looking skin. You will also feel better.

  1. You can be fuzz-free while having your laser hair removal

Unlike plucking and waxing, you need the hair to grow to remove it. The method of waxing needs wax to stick to the hair and remove it in one tug. Plucking also requires visible hair. With these methods, you have to wait for days and deal with fuzzy ugly hair before you can get rid of it. If you choose the laser method, you can go completely shaved and go to the clinic with no worries that your hair won’t be properly removed. Laser is so precise that it can target the hair follicle itself.

  1. Laser hair removal has minimal side effects

Other hair removal methods cause a lot of suffering. Waxing entails that you have a high tolerance for pain while shaving can leave you with uneven hair and ugly nicks and cuts. Plucking only allows you to remove hair in small areas and is also extremely painful. The only side effect of laser would be redness, which disappears after a few hours. You can apply a soothing aloe vera lotion or gel after if you need to calm your skin. Other procedures leave an aftermath of its effects on your skin in the form of bumps, cuts, and sometimes a chicken skin appearance. Laser hair removal, on the other hand, only leaves beautiful, smooth, and hair-free skin.

Final Thoughts

People want to look attractive, and having perfect skin that is hairless and pleasing to look at is undoubtedly the trend these days. If going hairless will increase your confidence and give you the look you want better get an appointment with an aesthetic clinic and watch your unwanted hairs disappear. Soon your beautiful hairless body will be turning heads at the beach and make you feel like a total knockout.

5 Tips for an Eco-Friendly Wedding

Your big day is a celebration of your love, and it should be a reflection of your personal style. More and more couples are becoming conscious of their environmental footprint and are choosing to have an earth-friendly wedding day. Of course, you can still have the day you have always dreamed of, but with a few creative eco moderations.

If you want to plan an eco-friendly wedding, here are a few tips to get you started:

1. Upcycle a Dress

You might have spotted your dream dress in a designer boutique, but what if you were to look for something second-hand instead? These days, dry cleaning, alterations and acid-free storage mean a preloved wedding dress can look brand new.

Reusing a dress will give it a second life, and the added benefit is it will save you money. If you’re sentimental, you may be able to wear a dress from your mother or grandmother, and with the help of a dressmaker, it can be made into your own. After the big day, pay it forward and pass your dress on to someone else.

2. Create a Wedding Website

When it’s time to send out your invitations, you can cut down on additional printing costs by creating a wedding website. Your website can be customized with the names of the couple, photographs and a choice of themes.

When guests access your website, they will find additional wedding details such as time, location, accommodation options, and a gift registry. They can even RSVP online, which saves paper while being a convenient way to respond.

3. Make the Most of Natural Lighting

An outdoor ceremony and reception under the stars will provide a romantic atmosphere, providing the weather is suitable. A wedding with lower energy consumption is a more eco-friendly choice, and you can use it to your advantage. An evening outdoor celebration can be enhanced with solar lights, and when the day is over you can reuse them in your own garden.

4. Source Organic Flowers

Flowers that are out of season or rare may be pretty, but they come at an environmental cost. In fact, your favorite bouquet may have been grown and stored with harsh chemicals. In order to avoid this, look for flowers that are in bloom at the time of your wedding and ask your florist how they are sourced. Oftentimes, flowers come with plastic to help keep them in position, but you can ask for sustainable alternatives such as bamboo.

5. Replace the Bombonieres

Giving your guests a gift is a nice gesture, but knick-knacks wrapped in plastic could very well end up in a landfill. So be thoughtful with your bonbonnieres and use recycled packaging. A potted plant is a favor they can cherish and is something they will continue to enjoy. If you prefer, skip the bonbonnieres all together and ask each guest to choose between two charities. You can then donate a small sum on their behalf.

The Wrap Up

You can have a beautiful wedding day while still being eco-friendly, as a few simple replacements could make your special day a more sustainable one. Consider wearing a preloved dress, cutting down your energy consumption, finding organic flowers, and rethinking the wedding favors.

There will be a range of elements you’ll discover that can be replaced with eco-friendly ones. You just need some forward planning — and creativity!

SKINCARE 911: WHAT TO DO WHEN A SKINCARE DISASTER ERUPTS BEFORE A HOLIDAY PARTY

Waking up on the day before or day of a big holiday party with an unsightly skincare emergency can stress anyone out. How many people have canceled an invitation because a cold sore erupted? How about cystic acne on your cheek that appears on New Year’s Eve? While neither of these is “life-threatening” conditions, for anyone wanting to look good for the in-laws,  they might as well be. However, there are solutions. Dr. Manish Shah is a Denver Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. As a father to girls, he can relate to these skincare 911s and shares his expertise on what can be done to mitigate various conditions.

Problem: Cold Sore

Solution: Dr. Shah offers cortisone injections to patients who want to look better faster. “Very diluted cortisone into the cold sore, this can bring the inflammation down quite rapidly,” he says. If you are afraid of needles, call your doctor and ask him/her to call in a prescription for Valtrex, Famvir, or Acylovir, Dr. Shah says. You can pick up Abreva, an over-the-counter medication. If you can’t make it to the pharmacy, you can try some old-fashioned remedies: Visine will help take the red out. You can also use a cold compress and Tylenol or ibuprofen.

Problem: Allergic Reaction

Solution: The first thing you need to do is stop eating or using whatever is causing the allergic reaction. If the reaction happens a few days before an occasion, Dr. Shah recommends using hydrocortisone cream twice a day and taking Allegra, Claritin or Zyrtec which are longer acting and less sedating than Benadryl. Try a whole-milk compress for 10 minutes twice a day. For allergic reactions, use the hydrocortisone cream and then cover up redness by canceling it out entirely. The opposite of red is green, so apply green tinted concealer on the red area. The combination will create a flesh-toned hue. A good quality tinted moisturizer naturally has green/yellow undertones and also provides moisture to dry skin. “If this type of reaction is something you have never experienced before, go immediately to your dermatologist,” says Dr. Shah.

Problem: Cystic Acne Breakout

There are some people who use a lancet or small knife to cut into a cyst and fish out the clogged part of the pore. “Cutting open a cyst is extremely risky. You not only run the risk of getting an infection, but you also run the risk of scarring, as in a permanent skin indentation or protrusion,” says Dr. Shah. And what if you cut open a cyst but can’t squeeze out the root clog? You don’t know where the root is or how deep it resides inside your skin. You can’t even be 100% confident that you will be able to completely remove the hardened plug of the cyst. If any remnants of the clog remain, the cyst is likely to get re-inflamed and come back even worse. It’s also not exactly good to cut open skin and dig around and squeeze the wound. Doing so will only make a bloody mess, increase the chance of skin scarring, and prolong the time it takes the cyst to heal.

Solution: Here’s a secret that many a supermodel or actress uses: Steroid shot. Dr. Shah explains that “when we discuss treating acne with cortisone or “steroid” shots, we are referring to the process of gently placing a very dilute quantity of a “glucocorticoid” steroid into the cyst. Glucocorticoids are a class of steroid molecules that are naturally produced by our bodies and have numerous functions including the regulation of human metabolism, immunity, and inflammation. They have very potent anti-inflammatory effects, so they are often used to treat inflammatory diseases in medicine. They can be formulated as creams to treat skin rashes or as pills to treat systemic disease. They can also be injected directly into local areas of inflammation such as in arthritic joints and inflamed acne cysts. Within one or two days of injection into a cyst, the steroid will shrink the inflammation producing relief of pain and almost immediate cosmetic improvement.”

Problem: Puffy Eyes

Solution: The key to reducing the puffiness of puffy eyes is having something cool applied to them. “A cool compress or cooled cucumber slices applied for 5 to 10 minutes can constrict blood and lymph vessels,” says Dr. Shah. You can also use cool tea bags, which contain tannins that will help reduce swelling. And since puffy eyes can be caused by a high salt diet or alcohol, try to cut out both before an important occasion.

Problem: Sunburn

Solution: Take a cool bath or shower. Set the water to a cool temperature that’s just below lukewarm and relax for 10 to 20 minutes. The temperature will ease the pain, and the water will stop your skin from becoming as irritated. Repeat as often as you need to. Avoid using soap, bath oils, or other detergents as you bathe – they’ll irritate your skin and possibly make it even worse. If you have blisters forming on your skin, take a bath instead of showering. The pressure from the shower might pop your blisters. When you get out, don’t rub your skin dry with a towel. Instead, let yourself air dry, or pat the towel over your skin in small, gentle movements. Apply cold compresses to your skin. If you’re not in a situation where you can bathe, or you’d just prefer not to, you can instead apply cold, wet compresses to your skin. Dampen a washcloth or other piece of fabric with cold water and lay it over the affected area for 20 to 30 minutes. Re-wet it as often as you need to. Apply aloe vera to burned skin. Using the pads of your fingers, gently apply the aloe to your sunburn. Don’t “rub it in” all the way, as you might with a regular lotion. Leave it a bit goopy and moist on top of the burn – this helps prevent the skin from drying out and becoming more irritated. Reapply as often as necessary. Treat inflammation with cortisone cream (optional). Cortisone creams contain a small dose of steroids that can work to reduce inflammation to your sunburn.

Problem: Too much filler

The Solution: Dr. Shah suggests doing fillers no sooner than 1 month before a big event to allow time for healing and touch ups. One of the reasons Dr. Shah leans toward hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm, and Perlane is because they are easily reversed with Hyaluronidase. This product dissolves and degrades the Restylane, Juvederm or Perlane so as to reverse the results of the initial injection. It’s a great insurance policy when choosing a practitioner. Make sure yours has it at his/her disposal. Most patients find the immediate results of soft tissue filler treatments very satisfying. If an undesirable result occurs, your treatment provider should be able to discuss and carry out all of the treatment options. Removing the effects of a “filler” treatment can be difficult. This is why any filler treatment needs to be done carefully, conservatively and only by very experienced and Board -Certified Specialists. Hyaluronic Acid based dermal fillers have the additional benefit of being partially or completely reversed with time or with the injection of a commercially available enzyme known as Hyaluronidase.

Read This First Before You Set Up Your WiFi

WiFi in all of it’s glory connects your favorite devices at home or in the office to the wonderful World Wide Web. Get to know your WiFi so you can set it up right and skip the brain-numbing buffering. Here are a few things to keep in mind when configuring your WiFi:

How is Your WiFi Used?

How many devices can your router handle? Are you part of a family of eight? Do you have a couple of roommates or are you flying solo? Is this an office setting with a multitude of crucial connected smart devices?

When too many devices are connected at the same time, your speed will likely suffer. Set up a whitelist from inside your router to prevent others from accessing your WiFi. If you still have trouble, double-check that your current plan can handle all the activity.

Top Shelf

A place for everything and everything in its place. That’s never more true than where you decide to put the location of your router. Where are the most important access points for your WiFi? Where is a good central location to reach those areas? Set the router in the same room as the static devices you use the most. For some, that may be on the main floor where their desktop resides. For others, it may be upstairs in a bedroom where they want WiFi for late night Netflix binging.

Place the router high on a shelf or ledge and keep it off the floor for the best connection. Avoid proximity to electronics, including the fridge, baby monitor, microwave, large fish tanks, and Bluetooth devices. Those items love to interfere or block with the signal.

Lock It Down

An unsecured WiFi account is fair game for parasitic neighbors. Keep your network private and secure it with a password. Neglecting this step can put extra stress on your WiFi. Your signal will suffer as your neighbors hop on and consume your bandwidth. Boot unwanted devices off your server with a simple network password change. Use a password that is at least twelve characters long, with a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols.

Try, Try Again

If your WiFi is handling a lot of devices, you may not get your WiFi set up right on the first try. Relocate the router if you find dead zones where you need service or if your signal fails. Your WiFi views mirrors, doors, windows, and furniture as almost impossible obstacles. If you can, reposition your router to avoid them.

A Step Above

If your WiFi troubleshooting isn’t improving things, or a few device additions are changing the way your WiFi is working, you might want to consider upping your reach a different way. Large spaces, or those with wonky layouts, might want to seek out a WiFi range extender or a whole home WiFi system. It may be the only way to get the signal you need.

Understanding Your WiFi

Pockets of WiFi-free access happen. While nothing is more infuriating than a snail-slow download or a file that won’t print, the tips above can help you set your WiFi up the right way at the start. Don’t be afraid to move your router around and test out new locations, especially if your WiFi is handling multiple devices. Add in a great password so your WiFi stays your WiFi. This is one thing you don’t want to share with your neighbors.
