Easy Skin Care Tips for Busy Nurses

Easy Skin Care Tips for Busy Nurses

Nursing, whether you are currently working in a healthcare practice or studying for an online pediatric nurse practitioner degree, can be incredibly stressful and time consuming. Stress, and a lack of sleep, can lead to dull, flaky and tired skin. On top of this, eating fast food when you don’t have time to cook can lead to greasy skin and breakouts. Here are some easy skin care tips you can implement now to help ensure your skin stays bright and youthful, no matter how busy you are.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating your skin can help to remove impurities and improve circulation, leaving you with clear, young looking skin. A gentle exfoliator used once a week is enough. Then, for the rest of your body, use a soft bristle brush in a circular motion, every day before you shower. This not only removes impurities and dead skin; the improved circulation can help with the appearance of stretch marks and cellulite.

Cleanse, Tone and Moisturize

Make this a part of your daily morning and night time routines. You don’t need to use expensive products as a 2 in 1 cleanser and toner will leave your skin feeling fresh and clean. However, do make sure you moisturize to keep your skin soft, especially in the winter, when the harsh cold can leave it dry and sore. This only needs to take a few minutes every day.

Drink Water

Your skin is made up of massive amounts of water. Keeping it hydrated, by drinking 8 glasses a day, is the best way to help it repair and grow new cells. Try to also avoid fatty and greasy foods. Fresh fruit and vegetables are full of vitamins and fluids that can give your skin a much-needed boost.

Sleep

Sleep is right up there with water in helping your skin stay young and fresh. A good night’s sleep gives your skin the time it needs to re-energize. After a bad night, you’ll wake up with dark circles under your eyes, instead of looking fresh and rejuvenated.

Wash Your Make Up Brushes

Make up brushes and sponges are full of bacteria. Even if you cleanse in the morning before you apply, you probably touch up throughout the day, spreading germs and bacteria across your face. This is one of the leading causes of spots. Another great tip is to replace any old makeup, especially if you don’t use it often. A year to 18 months is the longest anything should be kept.

Make a Facemask

DIY face masks are relatively easy to make from ingredients you probably have at home, or at least products that are easy to get. Look online for some tips. You may want to focus on excess oils, removing blackheads, or just give your skin a bit of a pampering.

If you are currently a nurse, and interested in further education, learn about how to become a pediatric nurse practitioner and the fantastic reasons why you should. Wherever your career takes you, at least you won’t have to worry about your skin if you follow these easy tips.

Great Home Pamper Tips for MBA Students

unnamed

As an MBA student, you are possibly very busy, sometimes stressed out, and cash strapped. Looking after yourself with a good pamper is a great way to make yourself feel great, boost your confidence, and improve the health of your skin and hair. It will also make you less likely to get ill by reducing your stress. All these things, in turn, make it easier for you to concentrate on your studies. So, if you are having a hard time, and you’ve started to wonder, is an MBA worth it?, take some time out, to remind yourself that an MBA is a great investment, which will open many doors in the future.

unnamed-1

A Good Daily Routine

Making sure you have a good daily routine when it comes to your hair and skin means a pamper session is just that. You won’t need to spend time treating tired and damaged skin, you can just relax and enjoy it. Make sure your daily routine includes:

  • Hair brushing. Brushing your hair thoroughly stimulates scalp circulation, aiding the growth of new hairs, removing chemicals and dirt from your scalp, and helping to evenly spread your hair’s natural oils. This stops your roots getting overly greasy, and removes the need for everyday washing.
  • Cleanse and moisturize. Make sure you take your makeup off every night before you go to bed. Leaving it on can lead to clogged pores, greasy skin and spot outbreaks. Follow with a gentle moisturizer to keep your skin nice and soft. This is especially important in the winter.
  • Drink water. Water rehydrates your skin, keeping it youthful, by increasing its elasticity.
  • A good night’s sleep gives your whole body a chance to recover and repair.

A Facemask

Facemasks are a great way to give your skin some extra attention, but they also help you relax as they smell fantastic. Have a long soak in a bubble bath with a drink of your choice and a good book. Then apply a homemade facemask. There aren’t many things more relaxing.

Manicure

If you can’t afford, or just haven’t got time, to go to the salon, a home manicure is a great way to make yourself feel great. Freshly painted nails give us a brilliant confidence boost, and the color really says a lot about our mood and personality. Dark, gothic colors are really in fashion at the moment. Before painting, buff your nails to stimulate blood flow, this will help your nails grow faster, keeping them strong and healthy.

Foot Spa

Our feet deserve lots of attention, they carry us round all day long. A soothing foot soak can be made at home using sea salts and essential oils. Try lavender to help you relax and get a great night’s sleep.

If you can, get someone to give you a massage or even just a shoulder rub. When we are busy and stressed, we carry a lot of tension in our shoulders. Use these tips once a week, or when you feel you need to. You’ll be more relaxed, and enjoy your studies more.

Nikki Leigh stars in Lifetime’s “Open Marriage”

LIFETIME TELEVISION’S NIKKI LEIGH TALKS OPEN MARRIAGE

Lifetime Open Marriage

Lifetime Open Marriage

At Its a Glam Thing we are big fans of Lifetime television! We are so glad to have a new IAGT friend, actress Nikki Leigh. We caught up with Nikki to ask her a few questions about her starring role in the new Lifetime film, Open Marriage which airs this Saturday, January 14th .

Nikki Leigh actress
Open Marriage is about Becca (Leigh) and Ron, a married couple whose marriage is less than exciting and has been lacking sexual sparks for some time. When their best friends tell them that they are engaging in an open marriage, Becca and Ron’s curiosity leads them to start swinging with their friends. Now that the spark in their marriage has been reignited, it does not come without a cost. Soon their anything goes world is filled with hurt, betrayal and heartache. As their marriage begins totally unravel, a mysterious stalker intervenes with the intent of driving them further apart, ending in bloodshed.

IAGT: Will you tell us a little bit about working on this film?

NL: Working on this film was such a beautiful experience. Director, Sam Irvin was such a pleasure to work with and really knows what he wants and wants to get out of you. Tilky, Jason, Kelly and I grew very close and we each put in a lot of time and effort into this movie. Everyday after we wrapped, we would all continue working by going over to someone’s place and run all the lines and scenes for the next day. The work ethic and amount of care for this film was undeniable and I am super blessed to have worked with actors who shared that.

IAGT: This film has some explicit subject matter. Will you us how you approached the material?

NL: I had so much care for this project and my co-stars so it made it easier to be comfortable with the subject matter. I trusted everyone who was a part of this film so that allowed for a pleasant experience. It could have been a totally different experience had I had a different actor playing my husband. I felt safe exploring the subject and the fact that this is a real situation or option for some couples made me relaxed. It is a serious subject and I give respect to those who are able to try something that might be out of their comfort level in order to save what is really important. As an actress, you have to be able to be in those peoples’ shoes and not come in with judgment.

IAGT: Do you hope women and men like this film and look at it with an open mind?

NL: You have to watch it with no judgment on the subject matter. I hope the women and men who see this film watch it with an open and adventurous mind so that they can really experience it and hopefully re-experience it. Remember that this is a Lifetime film. Many Lifetime films give us the ability to experience the playful, romantic, adventurous, thrilling and edgy sides of life. So allow this to thrill you and to have that exciting envelope pushing feeling of Lifetime greatness. Have a sinful time enjoying this film. Follow Nikki Leigh on social Media…

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Connie Britton & Infusium

Infusium is excited to celebrate this year’s Golden Globes with Julia Louis-Dreyfus AND Connie Britton, donning their next generation of Infusion products that transform hair heath with every use.

Renowned celebrity stylist, Matthew Monson (@matthewmonzon), worked his magic for Best Actress in a Comedy nominee, Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ effortlessly chic look, while Connie Britton’s gorgeous style was created by celebrity stylist, Enzo Angileri (@enzoangileri). Both stylists used Infusium to ensure these ladies hair stayed healthy during and even after their struts on the red-carpet.

See below for the “How To’s” from Matthew and Enzo, and the Infusium products they used…

 Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

“GET THE LOOK” FROM MATTHEW MONZON:

For Julia Louis Dreyfus’ look tonight I wanted her hair to look soft, shiny and stunning.
First, I washed and conditioned her hair with the Infusium Repair + Renew Shampoo and Conditioner.
Next, to protect her hair from any damage, I sprayed Infusium Repair + Renew Leave-In Treatment from mid shaft through the ends combing through with a wide toothcomb.
Then I took a quarter size amount of Infusium Repair + Renew Leave-In Crème emulsified in my hands, and worked through the last 3 inches of the hair to help eliminate frizz and flyaways.
I started drying her hair using just my hands, and lifting her strands for texture and root volume. After it was half way dry, I incorporated a round brush to finish and create even more volume.
To keep with Julia’s signature style, I created a strong center part with a tailcomb. Then separated her hair into large sections, and starting curling using a large barrel iron for a more tousled feeling.
To finish the look, I used the Infusium Repair + Renew Smoothing Serum to smooth over the ends and give a bit more definition to the hair.

Connie Britton

“GET THE LOOK” FROM ENZO ANGILERI:

I wanted Connie’s style to look elegant, shiny and smooth.
I started by washing and conditioning her hair with the Infusium Repair + Renew Shampoo and Conditioner.
While her hair was still wet, I parted the hair down the middle and then sprayed Infusium Repair + Renew Leave-In Treatment to the ends of her hair.
Then I sectioned her hair into about 20 sections and starting drying with a round brush. After, I pinned each section up like a roller and let it set for about 5 minutes for volume and natural wave. I took out the pins and brushed her hair so the waves would loosen.
Starting from the back of the head, I used a 1.5 inch curling iron and began curling the hair to accentuate the soft waves.
When finished, I lightly brushed it out again for that natural look. I applied the Infusium Repair + Renew Smoothing Serum at the top of her head, near her part to avoid fly aways!
