This potent concentrate rejuvenates as it delivers optimal doses of antioxidants directly into the skin. This is achieved through a patent pending Liposomal Delivery System that increases product penetration by 600%.

As an antioxidant power lifter, Replenish is beneficial for all skin types and can be used twice daily to boost your skin’s immunity to pollution, stress, UV rays and other common aggravators. Why is it important to prevent free radical damage before it starts? It can cause harm to our skin’s DNA which means accelerated aging.

Luckily, Replenish Antioxidant Repair Serum contains over 17 different antioxidants to boost support against free radical damage along with hydrating ingredients like Vitamin B. Using Vitamin B3, or niacinamide, it is effective in all aspects of the skin restoration process by increasing nutrients in the skin. It contains antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties for ultimate renewal.

The formula also contains Vitamin E, green tea and ginkgo biloba extracts that work together to further block UVA and UVB rays. Its floral extracts nourish while lactic acid resurfaces rough textures for smoother results. Replenish Antioxidant Repair Serum can also be used as an alternative to Vitamin A serums.

The addition of Replenish to any skin care regimen will leave the skin glowing and hydrated.

Everyone deserves great hair from NIUCOCO

Everyone deserves great hair and they deserve to get it in a way that’s safe for the human body and the planet. This is the founding principle that has gone into the creation of NIUCOCO, a hair care line producing salon-grade results from a natural, vegan, gluten-free, and cruelty-free formula.

Before you roll your eyes to the introduction of a new premium and eco-friendly hair care line, we’re here to tell you it’s not simply the all-natural, non-toxic ingredients or even the pure coconut oil alone that makes hair healthy. It’s the science that goes into the formula.

NIUCOCO’s Co-founder and Chief Scientist, Yasmine Ishmael, had her own struggles of dry, damaged, over-processed hair and found that most brands focused on masking her hair issues rather than fixing them.  “I understand the hurdles we face in trying to have healthy hair and wanted to focus on how to fix it from a scientific research perspective. I’m proud to give those who are struggling with the same challenges a long-lasting solution,” she says.

NIUCOCO’s shampoo, conditioner, and renewing hair serum contain 100 percent certified pure, extra virgin coconut oil in a performance-based formula that hydrates hair back to healthy starting from the core.  Customers from all age groups have been coming back, sharing their experiences how NIUCOCO has helped rejuvenate their hair and have even alleviated scalp woes such as itchy scalp and dandruff.

Celebrity Makeup Artist, Denika Bedrossian – How To Get The Look

Celebrity makeup artist, Denika Bedrossian (@dendoll), created last week’s makeup look on bareMinerals Clean Beauty Ambassador Hailey Bieber for the Met Ball red carpet. Please see below for the full look breakdown.

Photo Credit Getty Images Hailey Bieber

The Inspiration: For Hailey’s Met Ball look, Denika wanted to go with something sexy and mysterious to go with her stunning Alexander Wang gown. The vibrant color and shine of the fabric inspires us to go with a modern take on the classic Barbie.

How to Get the Look:

SKIN

For dewy skin using the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Hydrating Foundation Stick SPF 25, Denika lightly buffed it in with the bareMinerals Smoothing Face Brush. She added highlight and natural glow by adding the bareMinerals BAREPRO Glow Liquid Highlighter in Whimsy. She then stippled it in with her ring finger, creating a natural finish. Adding a dust of bareMinerals Endless Glow Pressed Highlighting Powder in Whimsy gave that extra pop of iridescent pink. Denika also dusted it on the eye lids for an additional highlight.

Denika then warmed up the skin and added a slight contour by using the bareMinerals Endless Summer Bronzer in Warmth. She dusted the apples of her cheeks with the bareMinerals Loose Powder Blush in Hint.

EYES

For Hailey’s sultry eyes, Denika used the bareMinerals Lash Domination Liquid Eyeliner in black to create a dramatic and bold cat eye. She layered it to get an extremely bold pigment and brought down the liner to the bottom lash line using the bareMinerals Round the Clock Intense Cream-GlideEyeliner in the waterline and below the lashes. After layers of mascara on top and bottom, she then added a corner lash for drama.

LIPS

For her perfect pout, Denika mixed together Smooch and Infamous in bareMinerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipstick. This gave a perfect little nude lip to pair with the most stunning dress and such a sexy eye.

bareMinerals products are available at bareMinerals boutiques and bareMinerals.com. Also available at Sephora, ULTA, Macy’s, Dillard’s, fine spas and salons. Visit bareMinerals.com for store locations.

The Special Exfoliants That Can Replace Microbeads Right Now

For years, the most popular exfoliating ingredients were plastic microbeads. Since they were affordable and effective, companies used them in a wide variety of cosmetic and skincare products. In recent years, it’s come to light that microbeads are bad for the environment.

Since they are made of plastic, microbeads are not biodegradable, and since they are often smaller than two millimetres, they aren’t filtered through water treatment systems. The negative impact towards the environment and public health encouraged countries across the world to start banning plastic microbeads from being manufactured and distributed.

But what can cosmetics companies do? There is still a demand for skincare products that exfoliate. Now that consumers are avoiding microbeads and more governments are legally punishing the use, the only thing that producers can do is find effective alternatives.

Pumice Powder

One of the best mechanical exfoliating alternatives to microbeads is pumice powder — these are abrasive crystals made from ground up igneous rock. It’s a time-tested, all-natural ingredient. It appeals to consumers who are searching for cosmetics that are wholesome and eco-friendly.

The ingredient is excellent for tackling rougher skin. It’s buffing powers are perfect in foot scrubs, where the goal is to remove lots of build-up and create a softened surface. It can also be used in face scrubs and washes for people with normal to tougher skin.

You should click here to learn more about the ingredient and how you can acquire this resource for your company’s cosmetic products. An experienced supplier can give you all the information you need, along with exciting alternatives for other items in your formulations.

Jojoba Beads

The Jojoba plant can produce a liquid wax ester, which can be transformed into a microbead. Unlike its plastic counterparts, this wax microbead is biodegradable and environmentally-friendly.

Jojoba beads are not as abrasive as other exfoliating materials like walnut shells, pumice powder, ground seeds or sugars. They are well-suited for products dedicated to sensitive skin or dry skin.

Glycolic Acid

An ingredient like glycolic acid is considered one of the best exfoliating ingredients because it is very effective at penetrating the skin and removing dead cells. It does more than a deep clean — it also promotes new cell generation, meaning faster healing and more collagen and elastin production.

Some consumers will be concerned about a chemical exfoliant over a manual one. However, the concern over it being “unnatural” can be easily dispelled. The ingredient is a derivative of sugarcane. It’s biodegradable, environmentally-friendly and frequently used by dermatologists.

Exfoliation is an important step in a skincare routine. It removes dead cells collecting on the top layer of your skin. By cleaning the dead cells away, users can brighten their complexion and make their skin feel silky smooth. The technique also improves the results of other skincare products, allowing them to penetrate deeper into the surface.

Losing microbeads doesn’t mean that consumers will lose out on exfoliation. With the help of exfoliating alternatives, users will feel happy about the look of their skin and about their conscious decision to buy products that are good for the environment.

Using Chores to Teach Kids Real Job Skills

How can we be reassured that our children are ready to join the real world? The answer is to start teaching them essential job and life skills from a young age. These skills are not always taught in school, and many of them are gained through hands-on experience. As parents, it is our responsibility to foster practical skills early in our child’s development. Using chores as learning opportunities is a surefire way to give our kids a leg up in the professional world. Giving kids a to-do list isn’t enough though. We have to provide chores in an intentional manner, with specific expectations. The focus is on the experience, not the outcome.

child doing chores

Work Ethic

To develop a positive work ethic, it is important to start kids off at a young age. Let toddlers help with the vacuuming or the laundry. It might add a little time to your daily routine, but the benefits to your child are tangible. To take some of the pressure off of you, give your small one jobs they can handle and try to let go of the results. If you take your clothes to a laundry service, such as J & G Laundromat, they can help you load and empty the machines. It is okay to let your child fold their own clothes and put them away, even if they end up a wrinkled mess at the end of the day. Remember, they will probably end up that way anyway!

When your kids help with the chores, celebrate the effort instead of the result. Young children love to help out, and they are forming a positive emotional connection to the work itself. You know that satisfying feeling you get when your kitchen is sparkling clean? Kids get that, too – even if their version of sparkling clean can be somewhat different from ours!

Grit

Grit means pushing through when things get challenging. Developing your child’s grit will help them in school and in their adult life. They will be better equipped to handle failure and overcome obstacles. In the workforce, they will have the ambition to work hard for what they want.

Developing grit is about providing challenges for your kids to overcome rather than bulldozing a clear path. Chores can help do that. As your kids get older, increase the difficulty of the tasks they can handle. If they can’t figure out how to do something, do not just give them the answer. If you puzzle it out with them, you are giving them the joy of solving the problem.

Independence

There are many ways to foster independence in your child, from letting them pick out their own clothes to getting and caring for a hamster. Chores are a great way to help build independence, too. The key is choosing tasks that offer them the opportunity to make decisions. Start off slowly by having them take care of themselves in little ways, like packing their lunch for the next day. Give them chores that have natural consequences when they do not get done. Instead of punishing them for not following through, let them face those consequences. You might have to send your kid to school in a stinky shirt once or twice, but they will soon figure out that they have put their dirty clothes in the laundry.

Responsibility

Older children can be given higher levels of responsibility. Encourage older children to take on some of the family care duties, such as cooking or childcare. An easy addition to your kid’s schedule is cooking dinner for the family once a week. Cooking is a life skill that kids rarely have the opportunity to learn in school. When you give them the responsibility to feed the whole family, you are offering them a hands-on life lesson. Be sure you have some easy (but not too appetizing) frozen options on hand, just in case they drop the ball. You do not want to go hungry, but you want some consequences for irresponsible behavior.

Teenagers can be given more of a choice for how they contribute to the family. You might encourage them to cook or clean, but you could also let them contribute financially. Teens as young as fourteen are legally able to work in some places and can do things like paper rounds, or some odd jobs for friends and neighbors. Just be very clear about the impact their contribution has on the family. If they do not understand why they are doing something, they miss out on the lesson.

Money Management

If an allowance is part of your family’s routine, consider switching up how you pay out. Treating an allowance like a paycheck, money paid out for the work completed, can give your child a lesson in money management. Consider paying your kid by the chore, rather than a set amount each week or month. Set the dollar amounts per chore in advance, and give your child the option to do them. They will quickly learn that more effort yields more pay. Increase the payout for less desirable chores, like scooping the cat’s litter box or taking out the bins. They will start to learn that harder work pays more, and they can do less of it to gain the same rewards.

Job skills are life skills. Chores are opportunities for young children to learn how the world runs. By giving them responsibilities in your home, you are setting them up for success in the future. That being said, you know what is right for your kid and every family is different. There are benefits to every approach, so be flexible and willing to try different things. Some things will work, some won’t, and it will be a learning experience for the whole family. Just remember that the lessons you are teaching your children are invaluable and will set them up for life.

New York Gastroenterologist Shares 7 Ways To Beat Those Sugar Cravings

From cleansing your system to losing weight, it is the goal of many to decrease their consumption of added sugars. But what happens if we can’t stop our body from craving it?

Sugar cravings are a formidable opponent to anyone trying to stay on a nutritious path. Sugar cravings can attack in the middle of the day or night, and it takes the will power of a comic book hero to say no to such temptation. But what if we can identify and address the underlying reason why we feel such a need for sugar? New York internist and gastroenterologist, Dr. Niket Sonpal who is also a faculty member at Touro College of Medicine says,  “If more people could learn to pinpoint the reasons why they experience sugar cravings they would have better tools to avoid breaking their nutritional goals.”

Here are Dr. Sonpal’s 7 Ways to Conquer Sugar Cravings

Drink water; you might be dehydrated.

Many people mistake thirst for sugar cravings. “We know that we want something fresh and cold and we usually identify that with sugary drinks,” says Dr. Sonpal. “When our bodies have a deficiency in fluids, it can’t efficiently breakdown glycogen, and this causes the urge to consume something sugary. In reality, what you need to do first is drink water and observe how you feel,” he explains.

Try to Decrease Your Sugar Intake Gradually

Scans have shown that sugar fuels every cell in the brain.  “Our bodies view sugar as a reward. But too much of a good thing is not good at all in this case. By partaking in overconsumption of sugar you are reinforcing your body’s need for that reward, essentially becoming addicted to it,” explains Dr. Sonpal. But like many addictions, it is not a reasonable or sustainable strategy to quit cold turkey. If you feel as though you are out of control or moody without your first soft drink of the day or until you have a piece of chocolate, you need to consider slowly draining your system from that need for sugar.

Rethink social habits that drive you towards sugar

Many of us have social rituals during our day that help us destress amidst countless tasks and meetings. “If you have a standing ritual with a friend or coworker of eating a piece of cake after lunch every day or running to the coffee shop on the corner to get the most sugary caffeinated iced drink you can find, rethink those social behaviors,” says Dr. Sonpal. Try to put something else in place that is healthy but rewarding.

Evaluate your protein intake

Many famous diet plans like Paleo, Vegetarian, and Keto seek to reduce sugars in your food. Sometimes a good way to kick your sugar cravings to the curb is having some good ole’ fashion protein. “Protein reduces the speed with which your body processes sugars and in turn helps you need lower amounts to experience that reward. Eggs, black beans, broccoli, and chicken are really healthy ways to get that protein in to quench that yearn for sugar,” suggests Dr. Sonpal.

If push comes to shove, pick fruit

There will be times when your craving for sugar will be exacerbated by the stress of the day or however many days you’ve gone without consuming it. You may feel like you can have a cheat day. According to Dr. Sonpal, “Your best response to a worsening need for sugar is to eat a piece of fruit. If you get to a point where you feel frustrated, instead of eating processed sugar, eat fruit. Fruits are sweet and have natural sugar that can address your sweet tooth without throwing out your entire effort,” says the NYC gastroenterologist. With the fruit, you will get added vitamins and fiber.

Fiber is your friend

Fiber helps clean out your system, and it is processed more slowly by the body. Fiber helps you feel fuller for longer effectively reducing your craving for mid-meal snacks. “Many people will be very deliberate with their decision to reduce sugar in their meals but will ultimately cave in when their body needs a snack because a lot of the snacks we have in our pantry have sugar in them. Fiber and lots of water would help you stay full for longer periods,” Says Dr. Sonpal.

Observe your consumption of starch

Starches like white rice, white bread, pasta are complex carbs that the body process as simple carbs. They end up affecting the sugar levels in your body and feeding into your need for sugar as fuel for brain activity and energy. If you have cut out processed sugars but continue to eat an abundance of starches, then your next step is to progressively reduce your consumption of those foods as well to clean your system of the need for sugars.

Looking Glam When You’re Time Poor

When it comes to looking glam, some people just have it. Others work for it. Either way, you feel on top of the word when you manage to get the look you were going for. It is important to remember that glam is something different to everyone. To some it’s hair not in a ‘mum bun’ for others it’s a cut-crease and false lashes. But glam doesn’t have anything to do with make-up most often. You will comment on how sleek and put together someone is – and they might not even have a balm on.

Natural Glam

Sunglasses

Always carry some wide framed, big lens glasses. If you are tired, crying, swollen eyes, or just not in the mood for eye contact, slip them on and feel like Audrey Hepburn in 0.003 seconds flat. You can grab an expensive brand or a budget-friendly one – whatever works for you. Try to keep them in a case, so they are scuff free.

Accessories

They always have your back. Feel like being a diva? Go for big chunky gold and statement pieces. Feel like being more Kate Middleton? Thin stackable rings, lighter simple chains, and a single bracelet will do the trick here. You bag matters. It might be filled with color crayons, wrappers, and receipts, but if the outside looks stunning then who will know? You don’t need to buy hundreds of bags, but picking up one or two high-quality bags that will last years is wise.

Shoes

Your shoes say a lot about you. Scuffed, worn heels and bent out of shape? Hard to pull off glam working with that. Save up and invest in shoes. After all, they last for years, and you wear them every day. If you are going for a capsule wardrobe, then a pair of black and a pair of nude will do you well.

Black

If you get stuck, all black with nude pumps and a scarf works. It doesn’t matter what the occasion is, you’ll look put together in minutes.

Capsule Wardrobe

Half the time we spend on choosing clothing could be spent somewhere else. The paradox of choice drains so much time, just because we have too much stuff. Strip it back to a few statement pieces and a maximum of 45 pieces.

Skin Care

If you do one thing, take care of your skin. Get a great routine in place, one that is fast and effective. If time isn’t on your side, use face masks while scrubbing the bathroom, a really good night cream before bed, and check out multitasking oils and serums. You can always head to the best aesthetic clinic for advice on how to have your skin looking its best.

Barely There

Go to a makeup counter, if you’ve never done this before, then it can be a little anxiety-inducing, but go anyway! Tell them you are looking for an everyday look that takes minutes. The chances are you will get a great BB/CC cream suggestion, nude lip, and a neutral toned eye shadow. Make a note of the colors and ask for samples. Do a dupe match when you get home, so it is all in your budget. And, here is the most essential part. Get up 5 minutes earlier so you can complete your routine.
