Believe in Yourself, is donating dresses in LA

The Charity called Believe in Yourself (we have written about this wonderful charity before) will be coming to Los Angeles for the first time and donating brand new ” in style” dresses to girls in the LA  area to wear to their upcoming school Valentine’s Day dances.

The founder of UsTrendy, the world’s largest Independent Fashion ecommerce site started the foundation one year ago. He recently launched a site for the foundation: www.believeinyourself.org

Some of the objectives of this charity is to combat the financial pressures that are felt on low income girls and their families to continuously stay in style and purchase new items each season along with promote positive body image and fight cyber bullying.

One of the foundation’s activities is donating dresses to underprivileged girls. “We have already provided dresses to girls to wear to school dances and similar events in various states. The girls will be registered in our system and receive dresses all through out the school year for various special occasions,” says Founder Sam Sisakhti. Future dress donations will be tied to the girls’ progress in achieving goals, whether towards improving their academics or pursuing an extracurricular interest such as music, dance, sports. Each girl who wants to receive a dress is entered into a system where they are then tracked to see their progress, whether towards improving their academics or pursuing an extracurricular interest.

Believe in Yourself is part of a broader initiative. The charity brings in Mentors and speakers to motivate the girls to believe in themselves. These mentors also provide tips if the girls are experiencing a negative body image or bullying of any kind, and they counsel the girls to help them achieve their dreams and goals.

Check the website for info about the upcoming and past events.

14 SMART SKINCARE HACKS FOR GYM RATS

www.skinandlasers.com

  1. Use disposable body wipes or medicated/herbal wet tissues right after a workout. This will help in removing excess oil from your skin.
  2. Always carry a small towel with you to wipe the excess sweat.
  3. Avoid touching your facewith bare hands to keep bacterial infections and acne at bay.
  4. Use afoot deodorizer to clean your feet after a heavy workout.
  5. Skip the tanning bed. It’s harmful to your skin, in so many ways. There’s also the range of cosmetic skin concerns, like wrinkles and sun spots. Opt for a self-tanning lotion or simply working out outdoors with SPF will give you a natural glow.
  6. BYOT (Bring Your Own Towel!)If you opt for a gym washroom for a shower, be careful of the towels and cleansing products you use. Do not use towels already used by someone. The sweat of other people can cause acne on your skin. Cleaning your skin should be hygienic.
  7. Wear fresh clothes after showering. Also, avoid wearing gym clothes after washing yourself clean. Gym clothes will be sweaty and grimy; they may cause acne and other skin related problems.
  8. Avoid close contact.Other people’s sweat may also cause skin acne, pimples and other related problems. That hug to your trainer or gym buddy can end up triggering a breakout.
  9. Skip the hot water.Sure, your muscles are sore, and you’re in the mood for a hot shower after a workout. Hot water strips skin of vital oils, leaving you with dry, itchy, dull skin.
  10. Reduce the redness.Calm down a flushed face with your own redness control remedy made up of a little bit of iced green tea and a spray bottle. You’ll cool down your skin and add in a few extra anti-oxidants in the process.
  11. Rehydrate your skin.  After enduring a good workout and cleanse, it’s critical to re-establish the natural moisture and oils that have been removed from your skin.  When it comes to your face, you really should invest in a high quality, fast-absorbing, nutrient-rich product that includes vitamins A and E and the super-ingredient hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring compound that is expert at restoring moisture to your skin and has also been shown to stimulate collagen production. If you’ve been exercising outdoors, a moisturizer with anti-oxidant ingredients is important to help repair damage caused by UV exposure and other environmental factors.
  12. Go bare. Morning gym people there’s no need to apply make-up. If you work out after work consider taking a face-wipe to remove dirt, make-up which may blend with sweat triggering breakouts. You want your skin to be able to breathe while you’re working out.
  13. Wear a hairband.Hair should always be pulled back from your face, not only because of sweat, but because of your hair products, too. If you are seeing breakouts on your forehead or hairline, mousses, gels, or other hair products could be to blame. An elastic headband worn behind the ears about an inch from the hairline keeps stray hairs off the face.
  14. Wear gloves when working out.In addition to protecting hands from rough calluses, gloves also prevent the transmission of bacteria and viruses like warts and staphylococcus bacteria; which can cause impetigo. Impetigo is a common skin infection that can be easily transmitted at the gym and result in blisters and sores. If you choose not to wear gloves during a work-out, disinfect your equipment with a wipe or spray.

How to Buy 2018’s Hottest Jewelry Accessory

Diamonds, you’ve been warned. It certainly seems as though many women are reconsidering what gemstone is their real best friend. Fashion is embracing a new gemstone with open arms. The good news? You might even already have some in your repertoire. If you don’t, you might consider raiding your mother or grandmother’s jewelry box.

The elegant pearl is once again in the midst of an epic fashion comeback. Fashion magazine’s like Vogue, Elle, Allure and Vanity Fair have even gone as far as saying that pearls are in the middle of a renaissance. It’s not hard to see why, either. From Rihanna and Taylor Swift to Kim Kardashian and Ivanka Trump, you don’t have to look far to find pearls in the spotlight.

Looking to get in on the trend? We don’t blame you. But just how do you go about buying pearls, and how can you really get started with a collection of your own? We’ve got you covered.

Study Up

Rule number one: Not all pearls are created equal. From Golden South Sea to Tahitian Black pearls, do your research. Pearls come in dozens of varieties, and each carries its own price tag. Plus, there are dozens colors, shapes, and shades (best you didn’t know that, did you?) so find something that works well with your skin tone and suits your style. About 30 minutes worth of research should do the trick before you head to the store or your favorite website to pick up a pair of studs or a necklace. If you’re heading line, make sure the retailer is reputable by reading online reviews and checking their Better Business Bureau rating.

Keep it Simple

But really. Please. Keep. It. Simple. There’s no need to dive in with an investment of hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. Pearl experts recommend you start with freshwater studs or pearl necklaces. Today’s freshwater selection is typically high quality and just as beautiful as anything else you’ll find, but at a fraction of the price.

Hatin’ on Fakes

We love costume jewelry just as much as the next girl, but when it comes to pearls do yourself a favour and buy the real thing. Fake pearls look and feel cheap. Worse, you can typically tell they’re fake, even from a distance. They don’t glow or shine like the real thing, and you’re not going to pull off the look successfully if you skimp.

That said, there’s nothing wrong with cultured or freshwater pearls. In fact, the cultured pearl industry is buzzing, and you can get high-quality pearls for a fraction of the price of their natural counterparts. The Pearl Source is a good option for all sorts of pearls, but their freshwater pearls selection is pretty legit.

Less is More

Thick, chunky jewelry is out of style. What’s even more out of style? Layering those same thick, chunky pieces. It looks clunky and unsophisticated. Instead, pick long strands of pearls of smaller size for a chic yet edgy look. For bracelets, you can layer pearls just about however you wish. One thing most people don’t consider, though, is how their pearl bracelets are strung.

Dress ‘em Down

Pearls have shaken their conservative, formal reputation. Try pairing different colors with dressed down styles. Tahitian black gemstones go well with denim – and for that matter so do traditional shades of white. Blues and greens work well for the spring, especially when paired with floral patterns. Don’t be afraid to shop for pearls strung on leather and even twine. It’s a great way to dress down pearls.

FLU RECOVERY FACIAL by CELEBRITY ESTHETICIAN

THAI MORRISON'S Flu Recovery Facial

THAI MORRISON’S Flu Recovery Facial

The flu has been rampant causing mass illness across 49 of the 50 U.S. states. Hundreds of deaths have been attributed to flu so far and many say the season hasn’t even peaked.

Flu causes major symptoms, like fever, chills and body aches and extreme fatigue that has most sufferers in the bed for five to seven days. It often leaves the havoc it’s wreaked written all over your face with darkness under your eyes, pale skin and sometimes facial swelling. While the bounce back process from flu is often slow, celebrity esthetician, Thai Morrison, has created a flu recovery facial that helps clients as they return to work and other normal activities.

The facial aims to reduce the darkness and puffiness under the eyes and restore moisture to dehydrated skin. The facial can be done in house by Morrison or the products for the at-home facial can be ordered from the spa. The facial consists of an oil wash for hydration, like the Flower Power Oil Wash by Kanvas Skin Care, a cleansing scrub to exfoliated the dead skin cells like Polished by Kanvas and a healing water like Avené Thermal Spring Water to calm and soothe the skin. The facial also consists of a hydrating mask like Glow Mask by Kanvas Skin Care to reduce facial puffiness and moisturize the skin and an eye treatment, like Plump Gold eye pads by Kanvas md to diminish dark circles and under eye puffiness. Morrison, who Is widely known as the healthy skin care expert, developed the flu recovery facial after contracting the flu herself and is on a mission to help others as they recover from it.

“I was down with the flu for almost a week and I wasn’t looking or feeling my best,” said Morrison. “I started treating my skin aggressively with the flu recovery facial I developed and was able to return to work with revived, glowing skin.”

Thai Morrison is the founder and co-owner of Koffee Day Spa, a full-service day spa and med spa located in Dallas, Texas and Kanvas and Kanvas md skin care lines. The Pros And Cons Of Solar Power

When you plan on installing solar power systems in your home, you’ll be choosing one of the best environment-friendly decisions! But of course, there are a few things to take note of before you make the decision. It’s best to know about what solar power has to offer, as well as the disadvantages. So read on as I show you the pros and cons of solar power!

The Pros of Solar Power

  • Reduce Electric Bills!

This is one of the main reasons people install solar power systems, as these would generate their own electricity and you won’t need to depend in electric utility. As a result, it reduces the monthly electric bill for decades, as they last for about 30 years. There can also be times you can totally eliminate the monthly electric bills!

  • Better Value for Your Properties

There are millions of people around the United States who would like to install solar panels in their home but have no idea or time to figure out how to install them, or to find companies to do the job. This is why the value of your home will rise because of the installation of solar panels, making it easier for you to sell your home with a good profit.

  • It Can Pay YOU Back

Did you know that there are solar incentives in the United States? Because of this, your solar panels will be able to give you profit, apart from saving on your electricity bills! Solar renewable energy credits, as well as net metering, will have you earn bill credits or money as the solar panel system produces electricity. It’s a great return of investment!

  • More Control On Costs

I’m sure you have felt anxiety when facing your electricity bills because you’ll never be able to control the increasing rates! The costs of solar power has decreased but electricity costs have increased, with the rise continuing as the years pass! That is why through solar power, you won’t have to worry about the rising costs anymore.

  • Environment-Friendly

This is another huge advantage for the whole world! Thanks to using solar power, you will be reducing carbon emissions and the use of fossil fuels. It’s a cost-effective way to help reduce carbon and help save the planet. Use of solar power will also help the United States become energy independent instead of relying on producers abroad.

The Cons of Solar Power

  • It’s Not For All Roofs

Unfortunately, your roof may not be compatible with solar system panels. This is because rooftop panels are installed through connecting mounting systems to the roof. Those with historical homes and have cedar or slate tiles for their roofs may find difficulty in installing the panels. Those who have homes with skylights of rooftop additions may find it expensive or difficult to install solar panels as well. Fortunately, there are solutions to that, such as ground mounted solar panels or having community solar gardens.

  • Not for Those Who Are Moving

Yes, the solar panels help increase value to your home but not so much that you’ll be able to pay it off once you move! For those who are moving homes in a short while, it’s not best to install solar panel systems as the payback period takes about eight years.

  • Low Electricity Costs = Low Solar Savings

If your electricity costs are already low to begin with, then you may not find much advantage on solar panels, as your solar savings will be low as well. Those who live in states with low electricity costs will feel like it is a waste to invest in solar panel systems, compared to those who live in states with higher electricity costs.

  • Expensive Costs and Difficult To Find Companies For Installment

If you are unable to avail solar financing, then you may have been discouraged from the front-up costs! It can get quite expensive and not all of us would have the cash to invest on solar panel systems. Fortunately, there are financing options you can avail.

Another con is the difficulty of finding reputable installers to work with, though extensive searches can help you find one many people in your town trust.

In Conclusion

Through being more knowledgeable on the advantages and disadvantages solar power has, you’ll be able t make the wise decision and see if this type of energy is best for your home or business. So if you are interested in installing solar power systems in your area, start to look for reputable companies who will be able to do so today!

I hope that this article on the pros and cons of solar power helped you know more about how this type of energy works and if it’s good for you. If you have any questions or would like to share your experiences on solar power, then comment down below. I would love to hear what you have to think.

Get The Look: Rita Ora at the 2018 Grammys

Celebrity Makeup Artist Kathy Jeung worked with Rita Ora for the 2018 Grammy Awards – below is a breakdown of the look!

Who: Rita Ora at the 2018 Grammy Awards
The Inspiration: With the classic shape of Ralph & Russo dress, Kathy wanted to keep the focus on Rita’s complexion and eyes – giving her skin a satin finish with a touch of radiance and highlighter to accentuate Rita’s bone structure, and a simple glossy eye with lashes that lift the outer corners.
How to Get the Look:
Lips
Kathy applied Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour in Plum This Go to give Rita a dark, bold lip.
Skin
Kathy applied Rimmel London Lasting Finish Breathable Primer all over Rita’s cleansed, toned and moisturized face to keep makeup fresh and long-lasting, creating a smooth, pore minimized canvas for makeup. She then applied Rimmel London #Insta Conceal & Correct underneath Rita’s eyes, erasing dark circles. Next, Kathy applied Rimmel London Match Perfection Concealer in Light/Medium with her ring finger, in a tapping motion underneath the eyes to blend into the rest of Rita’s face. Kathy mixed Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25HR Foundation in 303 True Nude with small amount of Rimmel London Good to Glow Highlighter in 003 Soho Glow to give her skin luminosity, by applying it with a flat foundation brush in broad strokes over Rita’s face, and blended with a damp sponge, giving Rita a natural looking finish. Kathy set the foundation with Rimmel London’s #Insta Fix & Matte Translucent Powder, helping to keep Rita’s forehead, sides of the nose and cheeks shine-free.
Cheeks
Kathy used Rimmel London Kate Moss Sculpting & Highlighting Kit in Golden Sands to highlight the tops of Rita’s cheekbones, above her jawline and down length of her nose. She contoured the hollows under her cheekbones, just under her jawbone and under her chin using a narrow wedge brush and applied the blush using a rounded brush on the apples of her cheeks and extended towards temples.
Kathy finished up the cheeks by using Rimmel London’s Insta Duo Contour Stick to highlight along the tops of the cheekbones and blend with a damp sponge.
Eyes
Kathy applied the beige shade of the Rimmel London Magnif’Eyes Shadow Contouring Palette Blush Edition to the browbone and blended the matte taupe color into the crease. Then she applied Rimmel London’s ScandalEyes Eyeshadow Stick in Witness White to the inner corners of Rita’s eyes and blended for a trace of highlight. She then added Rimmel London Oh My Gloss in Clear to Rita’s eyelids to add a glossy, high shine. She lined Rita’s eyes using Rimmel London ScandalEyes Precision Micro Eyeliner in Black to create a very narrow wing along the lashline. To finish the eyes, she applied two coats of Rimmel London Shake It Fresh Mascara in Black to the upper lashes only to lengthen and thicken Rita’s lashes.
Brows
Kathy used Rimmel London Professional Eyebrow Pencil to fill in and extend Rita’s brow shape, followed by Rimmel London Brow This Way Brow Pomade in Medium to softly add color and keep the brow hairs in place. She finished the brows by applying Rimmel London Brow This Way Highlighting Pencil to lift the arches of the brow and add highlight to the brow bone.
Where to Find Them: Rimmel London products are available at chain drug stores and mass retailers nationwide. Visit www.RimmelLondon.com for store locations and to try the newest products with Rimmel London’s exclusive Get The Look App available on iTunes and Google Play.

5 Reasons Why More and More People Are Saying ‘No Way’ to Valentine’s Day

Whether you’re in a couple or rolling solo, Valentine’s Day comes with expectation and pressure. With #CoupleGoals as a consistently trending hashtag, countless pictures of couples on social media, the obsession of celebrity break ups and make ups and TV shows like the Bachelor and Bachelorette serving up contrived romance sprinkled with drama, the way we think of love and romance has changed. Dr. Sanam Hafeez, a New York Board Certified Neuropsychologist explains why so many people say ‘no way’ to Valentine’s Day and offers some alternatives that shift this negative mindset.

  1. “Valentine’s Day is a ‘Hallmark Holiday’ and I’m still broke from Christmas.”

When money is tight many people may want to cut back on spending especially for things they feel are frivolous. “Financial stress is a common thing and when people are made to feel pressured to spend, they get resentful and want to claim their power,” explains Dr. Hafeez. Instead of boycotting all romance, put a $20 maximum on gifts and you’ll see how sweet, thoughtful and creative you can get.

  1. “Every restaurant is crowded and the service is terrible.”

Nothing kills romance faster than crowds and a bad experience dining out. Since everyone goes out to eat on Valentine’s Day there will be a lapse in service. “One way for couples to celebrate is to call their favorite restaurant in advance and have a meal prepared they can pick up and heat up at home,” suggests Dr. Hafeez. “You can either break out the fancy dishes and dress up or you can put on sweats and eat while watching a movie, the important thing is that you enjoy yourselves and aren’t stressed,” she adds.

  1. “We’ve been together for ages. Every day is Valentine’s Day! Do we really need to celebrate?”

“Celebrations and traditions are important in a relationship and when they fall away it’s usually a sign of trouble and disconnection. While you may not feel the need to do anything extravagant use the day to appreciate the love you have and life you’ve created, even if it’s in a small way,” Hafeez advises.

  1. “I’m single so what’s the point?”

Rolling solo on Valentine’s Day again, all the more reason to turn it into a Self Love Day. Being single on Valentine’s Day can be tough for people, especially those still healing from a break up or divorce. “You want to really be kind and caring to yourself. Booking a massage, getting a haircut, or arranging a single ladies night with your single friends could be just what’s needed. Focus on creating your own happiness,” says Dr. Hafeez who often sees a link between break up depression and anxiety over holidays.

  1. “I’m just to busy for love and romance and all that stuff.”

Some people are just focused on other things that are top priority in their lives. There are plenty of women who are turned on more by generating income for their businesses than concerning themselves with outside approval or validation. There has been a rise in female entrepreneurship with more millenials and Gen X’ers preferring to build empires than romantic relationships. For them it’s just February 14th the mid way point to a short month. “There’s nothing wrong with women wanting to focus on their professional lives. They often feel to focus on business, romance, which may cause them to lose focus, has to be shelved for a while, this is more common these days,” Dr. Hafeez shares.

While many say ‘no way’ to Valentine’s Day there are millions saying I DO.

According to a 2017 survey of 1000 people done by James Allen, an online diamond and bridal jewelry retailer, 43 percent of millennials say Valentines Day is their top pick for proposal day. November – February is considered proposal season.

Some other mind-blowing stats that clearly show Cupid isn’t going away anytime soon are.

In 2017, the National Retail Federation put the estimated total spending at over $18.2 billion. That’s an average of $136.57 per person.

Jewelry is the most popular gift with 20 percent of consumers expected to buy jewelry, with a total of $4.3 billion on bling, the NRF said.

$2 billion will be spent on flowers, with roses being most popular. 250 million roses are produced for the holiday, the Society of American Florists said.

The American Greeting Card Association puts that industries pay out at 1 BILLION… yes folks $1 … for paper.
