NEW YORK, NY (January 2016) – Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, in partnership with the Broadway adaption of Stephen King’s bestselling novel, MISERY, is set to release a brand-new Lip Tar shade inspired by the production. The liquid lipstick shade, appropriately named “Misery”, is the brand’s first official Broadway collaboration.Available beginning January 11th, “Misery” is described as a bright crimson red, and arrives as part of the brand’s newest makeup innovation, LIP TAR / RTW. The LIP TAR / RTW line features the same long-lasting and pigment-rich liquid lipstick that turned the brand into an overnight sensation in 2009, now packaged with an inclusive doe-foot applicator for even more ease of use. In addition to the co-branded LIP TAR / RTW release, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics is pleased to be named the official makeup sponsor for MISERY, which is now open and runs for an extremely limited engagement through February 14 at the Broadhurst Theatre. “Misery” will be an exclusive to both the brand’s website (occmakeup.com) and at their flagship Manhattan boutique.

About OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE COSMETICS:

Founded in New York City in 2004, OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE COSMETICS started out as a trade secret: a pro-only range of products available only at the most exclusive, industry-only Professional Makeup emporiums. In a time when many cosmetic companies make the claim that their products are “Cruelty Free” simply because Animal Testing has become unfashionable and less cost-effective, OCC felt it was necessary to raise the bar on this issue. We pledge never to use animal-derived ingredients (including Lanolin, Beeswax, Carmine and more) in our products and accessories. Founder David Klasfeld is still directly involved in the formulation of all new products and as a makeup artist himself is sure to always bring the latest trends in colour to the market.   www.occmakeup.com

Hot Tips on Getting Your Bridal Jewelry Selection Just Right

wedding

The typical Indian wedding can be (and usually is) an extremely elaborate affair. Right from the multiple ceremonies to the guest list, the wedding feast, the bridal trousseau, and even the honeymoon, the list of preparation to be made and executed right can be mindboggling. From the bride’s point of view the planning and shopping for the bridal jewelry is extremely important as all eyes would be on her when she makes her
entrance at the grand nuptial ceremony. Some hot tips on proper jewelry selection:

Give Yourself Plenty of Time

Unless you are getting married in a real hurry, you should give yourself at least six months of time to do all the planning, especially your trousseau and jewelry. Aim to be completely ready with everything at least three week before the big day so that in case you have a last minute change, you can still go ahead and execute it without tearing your hair off. If you are as picky as most girls are, start visiting your favorite jewelry shops well in time to acquaint yourself with the latest trends. It can also be a very good idea to visit the many online jewelry stores that stock some really amazing bridal jewelry.

Shop for Your Wedding Couture First

Even though your bridal jewelry will end up costing many times more than your wedding dress and also last much longer, you need to realize that at the end of the day, the jewelry is an accessory that needs to be paired with the apparel to create the right effect. Hence, you need to make up your mind regarding your bridal look and make the necessary purchase of your wedding saree, lehenga or whatever it is that you wish to get married in. Since there will be a number of functions, you need to plan out your dresses accordingly, which will in turn dictate the need for appropriate jewelry.

How to Shop for the Best Diamond Bangle Design

To start off with you need to allocate a certain budget for purchasing jewelry. The amount will vary according to your means but you also need to keep in mind whether you will be inheriting jewelry from your family as that can save you quite a lot of money as there is no need of replicating the heirlooms with fresh pieces of jewelry. If you are going to purchase the ornaments from the high-street stores be sure to only visit the well-reputed ones, especially those that you or your family have frequented earlier. Make it a point to arm yourself with a photograph of the dress or a fabric swatch so that you can refer to it to make sure that your choice complements the outfit. Also have handy the ideal length of the necklace, wrist and waist circumference, etc. so that you can be sure that the items will be proportionate.

Alternatively, you can trawl the Internet to see if there are any fine jewelry pieces that you may like. Shopping on the net also allows you the flexibility of purchasing from the best of high street jewelry stores in the country as well as from specialist online stores such as Candere.com that will offer the most happening and trendy styles, especially in necklace and diamond bangle design. When choosing bridal jewelry it is best to select pieces that will not only look stunning on the big day but can be used on many occasions thereafter. Rather than picking out very heavy pieces, try to look out for interchangeable pieces that can be mixed and matched to create a versatile look on both upcoming formal and casual occasions. Almost all girls tend to have a struggle with family elders regarding the styling. To avoid arguments it can be a very good idea to pick out some items that are modern recreations of the old and classical styles that never die out.

Author bio; Meghan Singh is a jewelry designer who specializes in bridal jewellery. Her recent diamond bangle design has been the talk of the town after featuring in the wedding of a top film celebrity.

GET THE LOOK: Maura Tierney at The Golden Globes

Maura Tierney at The Golden Globes

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – JANUARY 10: Actress Maura Tierney attends the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 10, 2016 in Beverly Hills, California. (Photo by Jason Merritt/Getty Images)

Celebrity Makeup Artist Matin Maulawizada worked with winner Maura Tierney from The Affair for tonight’s Golden Globes. Below is how to get the look from Matin.

Matin’s Inspiration: Late 60’s glam.

Skin: I prepped her skin by using Jurlique Skin Balancing Face Oil all over her face and body and Talika eye patches while she was getting her hair done. I then followed that with Avon ANEW Power Serum and Avon ANEW Ultimate Multi-Performance Eye System follow by Laura Mercier primer and Orlane lip balm to moisturize and prep her lips.
Face: I tanned her up a couple of shades darker by using Avon Ideal Flawless Invisible Coverage Liquid Foundation in Soft Honey. For the cheeks I brightened her up with Avon Ideal Luminous Blush in Warm Flush and used Avon Glow Bronzing Pearls on high points of her face for further glow and tan.

Eyes: I lined her eyes with Avon Mega Effects Liquid Eye Liner in Black and a mix of #3 shadows from Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Warm Sunrise and Gilded Metallics. I finished off the eyes with Avon Big & False Lash Volume Mascara. For her brows, I used the Avon Perfect Eyebrow Kit in Soft Brown.

Lips: I wanted to give her a dramatic pale lip so I used the Avon Glimmersticks Lip Liner in Nude with Avon True Color Perfectly Matte Lipstick in Perfectly Nude.

GET THE LOOK: Saoirse Ronan at the Golden Globes

73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – JANUARY 10: Actress Saoirse Ronan attends the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 10, 2016 in Beverly Hills, California. (Photo by Jason Merritt/Getty Images)

THE LOOK: A modern version of a Grecian hairdo with elements of gold threading as a back accent.

INSPIRATION: Celebrity hairstylist, Adir Abergel, gave Saoirse a beautiful modern style for tonight’s Golden Globes. “I loved how Saoirse’s Yves Saint Laurent dress was both romantic and modern at the same time – I wanted to bring in elements of the sleek, shiny and graphic lines to complete the look,” he says.

Here is a step-by-step breakdown:

·         I prepped the hair by applying NEW John Frieda Luxurious Volume® Perfectly Full™ Mousse all over the roots.

·         I created the part by following the highest arch in the brow and blew her hair dry with a round brush. I then created a very sleek finish to the hair texture by flat ironing the ends.

·         Once the hair was shiny and sleek, I took the side of her hair with the deep part and tucked it behind the ears for a clean look and sprayed with John Frieda Frizz Ease® KeraFLEX™ Flexible Hold Hairspray.

·         To start working on the back of the hair, I created some criss-crossing cornrow braids just under the ears and wrapped the braids with gold thread to add some great architectural lines to the look. Once I wrapped the braids in gold, I went over the back of her hair one more time with a flat iron to ensure a beautiful high finish.

·         To complete this look, I took the crisscrossed braids and pinned them in place over the flat ironed hair to make two lines of gold.

·         For the last step and a finishing touch, I applied John Frieda Frizz Ease® Expert Finish™ Polishing Serum on the ends.

quick and easy tricks from Kattia Salano, owner of Butterfly Studio Salon, to freshen up your hairstyle

unnamed

Pretty Ponytail

1. Upgrade a worn ponytail from day to night by taking out that pony and shaking it as hard as you can just to create some body.

2. Grab your purse-size dry texturizing spray (key for reworking fullness into limp hair) and apply through entire head, roots to tips.

3. Shake hair out, using your hands as well to break up, lift, and activate your spray.

4. Pull hair back, taking one section at a time to create a super textured look (versus slicked back and smooth).

5. Secure above or at the curve of the head with a hair tie (the positioning makes it more playful.)

6. Gently pull on the hair to create height and adjust the look.

7. Wrap a small section of hair around the base of the pony and tuck for a messy, sexy ponytail or add a metallic pony cuff for a chic way to accessorize the look.

unnamed-1

Topknot

1. To create the effortless top knot, you need a little grit or dirt in your hair which requires applying as much dry shampoo as you can.

2. In the AM, hold your breath and spray through hair before you create your topknot.

3. Then in the PM, release your work knot and shake it out by flipping your head over and mussing for volume and texture. The product will have prepped the hair and controlled the day’s oils.

4. Next take a fine size amount of molding paste, like Oribe Rough Luxury between your palms and rub through your hair.

5. Follow with hairspray for grip and a shine finish and flip back over.

6. Recreate your morning knot, but placing it more forward, towards the front of the head. (On the crown is more for a day look whereas more forward is nighttime-ready!)

unnamed-2

Glam Waves

1. Go for the two pigtail twist trick.

2. Part dry hair into two pigtails and spray each one with a dry texturizing spray.

3. Take each pigtail and section into two braids, securing at the ends with a hair tie.

4. Another option is to take each pigtail and twist tightly into two buns right above each ear, securing with a hair tie.

5. Sleep overnight and upon rising in the morning shake out and apply more dry texture spray for volume. Voila! Easy, beachy waves.
