Hold on to Summer a Little Bit Longer With Justin Bieber “The Key”

Even with fall suddenly upon us and the start of school, who says we have to let go of summer just yet? Justin Bieber’s new perfume, “The Key” proves to us that we can in fact hold on to summer as long as we wish. When I first received the perfume I was immediately drawn in to the beautiful bottle in which the fragrance is held. It’s a stunning, white, tall and rectangular container that is accented softly with a gold plate that states the name of the perfume. Then hanging off the side is a golden key to perfectly fit the name. I then realized that as beautiful as the bottle is, the fragrance itself is even greater.

It’s a perfect mixture of energy and softness, giving off a glow that is sure to follow you throughout the day. With ingredients chosen by Justin himself there is a musky aspect to the smell which fits perfectly with the upcoming winter months, but the counter off fruits and floral allow us to keep holding on to the brightness and warmth behind the clouds. Justin Biebers “The Key” is the perfect gift for anyone as they take on a new year of school as well as someone who just wants to go for a night out. I personally know that I can use this perfume as an everyday add on to complete any ensemble, and leave me feeling as though I truly do have the key to a bright day!

A Little Bit of Heaven + Urth — Beelieve Hydration Balm

I am always looking for a skin product to conquer my sensitive, dry skin whether from the beach sun or the New England hard winters.  I love trying new products …… but I don’t just rub anything on my skin. Dr. Richard Benveniste is a top periodontist who has served three terms on the California State Board of Dental Examiners. In addition, he has also served as the regional chairman of the American Cancer Society. Practicing good dental hygiene is a reflection both our internal health and our external beauty. The mouth is interconnected with the whole body and poor mouth hygiene is symptomatic of other diseases in the body. We may not realize it, but the most beautiful part of your face is your mouth because it is connected to our lips, our smile, and eating.

 

*Question: Why is periodontal health so important?

Dr. B: The mouth is the pathway to the entire body

*Question: What are some diseases that are strongly related to dental health of the mouth?

Dr. B: Besides Diabetes, heart disease, stroke, arthritis, lung disease and a strong link to Alzheimer’s have been linked to dental health. In recent years there has also being a strong correlation to some cancers including mouth cancer and a possible link to many other cancers of the body shown by university research and studies.  The bacteria in your mouth travel throughout your whole body so all of this makes sense in terms of origination.  If your mouth is infected it affects the rest if your body.

*Question: What is the best way to prevent periodontal disease?

Dr B: The best way is to floss and brush daily. Also having regular periodontal check ups is most important because periodontal disease is not something you can feel until it is too late.

*Question: What are the signs that one should be very careful to identify

Dr. B: Well, early indications can include but not limited to: sour taste, bad breath, bleeding gums, loss of energy, headaches, shifting teeth, and clicking jaw joints.

*Question: What are the treatment methods?

Dr. B: A basic cleaning out of the infected gums to prevent swallowing of the infection which also makes the mouth more acceptable on interpersonal basis

*Question: Is much pain involved by using needleless anesthetic delivery

Dr. B: Treatment could be completed easily without discomfort and a patient can usually go back to work the same day

*Question: What are the costs involved?

Dr. B: Treatment depends on what the patient wishes to accomplish ranging from just a basic infection removal and advance cases, bone filling procedures can also be offered when needed each case is individual

The Glycemic Index:

As many of you may know there is a lot of information out there about the Glycemic Index and how it affects blood sugar levels, diabetes, and overall health. During the course of my research, I had the opportunity to speak to expert nutritionist, Karen Cohen, about the GI Index and the importance of eating small meals throughout the day. Maintaining a healthy diet is not only an effective way to maintain your body weight, but it also has positive effects on sleep, critical thinking, and having energy throughout the day. With so much conflicting information out there, eating healthy can sometimes feel quite overwhelming. Essentially, we want to avoid foods that easily convert to sugar. Any simple carbohydrate like donuts, white bread, and desserts generally have a high glycemic index while insoluble fibers and complex carbs generally have a low to mid level glycemic index. I asked Karen to discriminate between good and bad carbohydrates because they are not all created equal! Grains such as quinoa and brown rice slow down the glycemic spike and if you do eat just white rice, make sure to pair it with something high in protein like beans. It is also important that to maintain a balanced, healthy lifestyle, you eat every four hours to prevent your blood sugar level from going down because then you overeat. Whether it’s snacking on nuts, fruit, or a healthy complex grain, always make sure to keep healthy options around the house in between meals.

Healthy snack options:

Whole grain toast with almond butter

Roasted, unsalted cashews, almonds, walnuts, brazil nuts

Fruits with low sugar levels like strawberries, blueberries, plums, and tomatoes

Half an avocado with fresh lemon juice and a drizzle of olive oil and salt

Cottage cheese or ricotta

Egg whites
