Six Skincare Mistakes That You Are Probably Making Right Now

Gifted are those that have clear and glossy skin in their genes. Unfortunately, the rest of us have to follow long skincare routines to get healthy skin. But following a skincare routine is not enough. You may question why you are still breaking out even after following a seven-step thorough skincare routine day and night. The answer is that you are probably not doing it correctly.

Most of us are not even aware of these daily routine skincare mistakes we make. To fix a problem, you have to acknowledge it first. Worry not, below are the top six skincare rookie mistakes you are most likely to make.

Top Six Skin Care Mistakes That Ruin Your Skin.

  • Over Exfoliating.

Exfoliating your skin gets rid of excess sebum, dirt, dead skin cells and opens clogged pores. This keeps your skin fresh and glowy. But the rule of exfoliation is to do it two or three times a week. Over-exfoliating is extremely harmful to your skin as scrubs or chemically powered serums irritate your baby cells. Get this, your skin cells do not get to live their life cycle and you end up exfoliating healthy skin cells leaving your skin flaky, dry, irritated and reddened.

  • Sleeping With Your Makeup On Or Not Removing Make Up Correctly.

One of the most common mistakes we make is sleeping with our makeup on or not removing makeup correctly. These mistakes result in milia, rashes, and puffy and itchy skin. On the other hand, removing makeup with wipes is also a major mistake we make. The correct way to remove makeup is using a good cleansing water makeup remover. Our top favourite is the make-up remover from BioDerma that removes make-up and any dirt or pollution gathered on the face.

  • Not Using Suitable Skincare Products.

We see influencers using and promoting certain skincare products and automatically assume that these products will fix your skin issues as well. We all have different skin types and each skin type requires different products. Get skincare products according to your skin type and the sensitivity of your skin.

  • Using Comedogenic Products.

Products that clog your pores are called comedogenic products. Using comedogenic products is especially harmful to people with oily or acne-prone skin. Some examples of comedogenic ingredients are coconut oil, cocoa butter, and lauric acid. No brand will market its products by displaying that the products are comedogenicc. What you can do is do your research, read the ingredients of the products you are buying, and avoid comedogenic products.

  • Not Using Sunscreen.

Skincare gurus have been telling everyone how important sunscreen is for you. Sun rays attack your skin cells and make your skin age faster. This means wrinkles, textured skin, pores, skin burns, etc. We recommend that you regularly use a  mineral-based sunscreen that is at least 30 SPF.

  • Not Sleeping Properly.

Any Facials & Skin care expert is going to tell you this, above all else! You need to stay hydrated every day, but you also need plenty of sleep for good, healthy, glowing skin. Not sleeping enough has a direct impact on your skin’s health. When you sleep, the blood flow in your skin repairs UV rays damage and increases collagen synthesis. “Beauty sleep” is not a myth, your skin actually needs you to sleep properly to be healthy!
