Tips to Live with a Baby in a Small Space

Living in a small space is already challenging as it is. It is even more complicated if you have a baby. Nobody likes to be in such a situation, but it happens anyway, even to those who think they have got it all figured out. Between the baby cot, the tiny clothes, swings, strollers, toys, and all the other things you have to fit into the baby’s room, all of a sudden, a spacious room can turn into a very tiny space.

We all know that babyhood is a critical stage in every child’s life. So, as a parent, you want to give your bundle of joy as much comfort as you possibly can.

The question is, how can you do that in a small space? Most people believe that this is an impossible task, but in reality, it is not. There are plenty of ways to manage your small space to accommodate the rest of your family and the baby.

In this article, you will discover a few of them.

  • Pack all the clothes, toys, Gear, and Everything else that the baby Does not Need Yet

Indeed, babies grow so fast. So, it makes a lot of sense to accumulate stuff that your little one isn’t ready for yet. But for the moment, you do not need to access those items.

To save more space, keep just what the baby needs right now and store the rest away. Under the bed boxes, closets, and high shelves are great places to keep items you do not need. And because sooner or later you will need those items, make sure you sort and label them to make it easy to locate them when the time comes.

  • Make Good Use of Your Vertical Space

When babies start to crawl and walk is when trouble begins. They move in every direction and pick everything in their way, put it in their mouth, or throw it around. That is very risky and can cause serious injury to your child.

The first thing you want as a parent is to protect your child. The second thing is to create enough space in your home. Using your vertical space to store some of your items is a perfect way to achieve both of those things.

For instance;

  • You can store your knives on a magnetic strip instead of keeping them on the counter,
  • You can hang your pans on the wall instead of keeping them in a drawer
  • You can use the floor to ceiling bookshelves to store your books; alternatively, you can install picture rails
  • If you have bicycles, you can mount them on the wall, and so on
  • Use Every Inch of Your Space

There are always these spaces in your home that you cant fit any furniture. Well, these spaces are beneficial for something too. You can use them to store stuff you rarely use, like warm blankets that you only need during winter.

In short, make sure you use every space in your room.

  • Baskets All the Way

Baskets are amazing. They are nice-looking, portable, and above all, easy to throw and pick stuff. You need to have them in every room. You can use baskets for just about anything from diaper supplies, books, toys, clothes, you name it. They are perfect for easy cleanup.

  • Choose Long-lasting, Good-looking Multipurpose Gear

Instead of having two or three strollers that will serve different needs, try to look for one that can serve multiple purposes. A high chair that your baby can use through their childhood and beyond is far much better than something you will need to replace in a year or two.

When choosing gear, you have to be extra cautious not to buy something that you will need to replace sooner rather than later (like in a year or two). Such stuff can fill up your home and take over your space within a blink of an eye; by all means, avoid them.

Conclusion

Babies are a blessing; there is no doubt about that. But they come with their own set of demands which can sometimes be very frustrating to fulfill. It is more frustrating if you live in a small space and have no clue how to deal with the whole situation.

Thanks to this article, now you have a few ideas to live in a small space with your baby.
