Are you someone who’s always following the latest trends? Do you follow fashion bloggers and get your latest style inspiration from online influencers? Or are you someone who prefers to head to the mall and build your favorite new outfit from scratch?

Whatever approach you prefer, it’s amazing how certain pieces of clothing can leave us feeling confident and good about ourselves, which is why finding the right clothes for you is essential! However, did you know that in your pursuit of looking sensational, you could be putting your health at risk?

It’s true that you could head to the mall and slip or trip in the store – speak to a personal injury lawyer in Nassau County if this has happened to you – but did you know that some of the biggest risks to your health could be in your wardrobe? It’s true!

Read on to discover which items of clothing are potentially bad for your health.

Thong underwear

Sad, but true! Thong underwear is the perfect underwear choice for those who dislike full coverage “grannie-pants”, those who don’t want the dreaded VPL in certain outfits and those who just want to wear something that makes them feel good and sexy. Sadly, thong underwear has a long history of triggering vaginal infections and making the recovery process difficult. This is because of the way the underwear moves, potentially transferring bacteria into the vagina. Yes, they look great but if you’re prone to UTIs and other infections, you may want to opt for comfort over style – for a few days of the week at least.

Skinny jeans

Skinny jeans are a key piece in any wardrobe. Whether you’re a man or a woman, skinny jeans contour your body and cling to your shape, emphasizing your curves, legs and waist. While they do make us feel good and have the added bonus of being able to be dressed up or dressed down, skinny jeans can be dangerous to your health.

If your jeans are too tight then you can restrict the blood flow to your legs, leaving you with a pins and needles sensation and other potential health problems. Swelling is also another sign that your jeans are probably too tight! Swap out those skinny jeans for a relaxed fit or mom-style jean every so often.

And finally, flip-flops

They’re great at the beach, the lake and when it’s just too hot for sneakers. You’ll find flip-flops in every suitcase that’s headed for sunnier climes, but they’re also incredibly dangerous. Not only are you more likely to trip over whilst wearing flip-flops, but because they’re flat in design you may find that your gait is different, causing back, hip and ankle strain. Also, your feet aren’t protected from something being dropped on them, and if you forget to add sunscreen lotion to the top of your feet – you can expect some nasty sunburn scars!

If you enjoy wearing flip-flops don’t worry, always opt for a high-quality pair with a thicker sole. And take extra precautions in the sunshine!
