Top Tips For A Movie Star Smile

Do you ever look at a movie star in a picture and wish that you could have a smile as dazzling as theirs? The secret is, you can have a smile as dazzling as theirs! A lot of celebrities have such wonderful looking smiles because they have had a little help from their dentist, and you can do it too!

Whitening

One of the most common dental procedures that celebrities get is tooth whitening. You can keep your teeth looking pretty bright and healthy by brushing and flossing regularly, but it is quite natural that your teeth might become stained over time, particularly if you drink coffee or red wine. Your teeth are also likely to start to discolor as you get older because the enamel gets thinner and the yellow dentin underneath starts to show through.

Your dentist will be able to whiten your teeth for you, or provide you with a whitening kit that you can use at home. You can buy whiteners over the counter, however whitening can damage the teeth so it’s best to do it under the supervision of a dentist, particularly the first time. You may also find that your teeth become sensitive following whitening.

Gum Contouring

If you feel that you have too high a ratio of gum to tooth, then you can think about shaping your gums. The procedure is sometimes called ‘gum contouring’ and it involves removing excess gum tissue while under local anesthetic.

The surgery itself is very quick to perform, but the healing can take between one month and eight weeks and you must be careful to maintain excellent oral hygiene otherwise you risk infection.

An article by the skincare edit suggests that Miley Cyrus may have had gum contouring and veneers to improve her smile, you can see the change in the shape of her gums in the article.

Straightening

Getting crooked teeth straightened not only improves the look of your smile, but it can help you to eat more comfortably and prevent things like biting the inside of your mouth!

Getting braces as an adult is a commitment as it can often take between eighteen and twenty-four months to achieve the results that you want, but once it’s done your smile will look wonderful! A good dentist will be able to install braces that are practically invisible, so although you may be wearing them for a long time, they won’t be immediately noticeable to the casual observer.

Veneers

Veneers are a tooth-colored material that is installed over your existing teeth, in order to improve how they look. They are used to give you a more uniform and even smile, and can also be used to improve the look of chipped, damaged or discolored teeth.

To install veneers your dentist will remove a small amount of the naturally occurring enamel on your teeth, and then stick veneers over the top. For real life examples of the difference veneers can make to your smile, check out the smiles of celebrities like Zac Efron and Emma Watson.
