YARD + PARISH: Black-Owned & Female Founded Collective That Celebrates Women Of Color

TORONTO, CA – August 3, 2020 – YARD + PARISH, is an online collective of independent heritage brands curated for women of color. Founded in 2019, the range includes eco-luxe fashion, beauty and lifestyle collections from the African diaspora. The motto “Discover the Diaspora” signifies a mission to encourage global exploration and investment into Black-owned businesses in the UK and beyond. The products do not revolve around trends but emphasizes the stories behind each product and the influence that culture has on it’s maker.
Co-Founders Alesha Bailey and Samantha Newell are London-based Torontonian cousins who set out to create a unique collective after struggling to find high-quality and affordable products that suited their hair, skin and style. YARD + PARISH was born out of necessity to break barriers and to build a revolutionary one-stop shop by a community of like-minded entrepreneurs.
This fashion-forward powerhouse was created with the environment in mind, products are handmade or produced in small batches. Brands within the collective like Afro Hair & Skin Co., Ivy Wild, De Lovét and Afton by Palm to name a few use non-toxic, all-natural ingredients and sustainable materials. In Caribbean culture YARD + PARISH means home and community, and that’s exactly what the brand sets out to celebrate. The collective empowers customers to stay connected to their roots while embracing the on-going discovery of other diasporic communities world-wide.
To commemorate the one-year anniversary, YARD + PARISH has introduced the Island Tings Capsule collection of unisex shirts and made with love from responsibly produced cotton. A year later, YARD + PARISH has expanded its range of categories into jewelry, accessories, lingerie, haircare, skincare, books + stationery, art, home fragrance, décor and menswear at https://www.yardandparish.com/.
