Keeping It simple, Dressing Well – Male Style Tips

While many think glam is purely for women, they’d be totally wrong. Glam isn’t a female thing, it is an all-day every day, everyone thing. The idea is dressing well, or being glam can be different things to different people. Still, when it comes to dressing well as a male, you can break or make as many rules as you are comfortable. But if in the meantime you are looking for the basics, that is what you will find below.

Fit

When you are looking at the cut of clothing, keep in mind the shape and size of the person you are buying it for. Often people assume the brand on the tag is what makes something look glam, whereas it is actually about getting the right fit and style for your body shape. Tailored styles with a classic cut often look great on everyone and are a pretty safe bet.

Shoes

No outfit is truly complete if the shoes aren’t right. Nothing ruins a look quicker than terrible footwear. A couple of classic options are some Chuck Tailors, Gucci loafers, Italian oxfords, Wingtips or Brogues are all ideal choices. They can all be dressed up or dressed down as required.

Chelsea boots are typically comfortable footwear for everyone, and go with so many styles of jeans or outfits in general.

Details

While you are looking for the jeans to fit well, a shirt to button-down perfectly (no button gaps in sight), and a blazer that looks slick from office to a bar – the smaller details matter. The right pocket square in the front breast pocket, cufflinks and matching tie clip, or the glint of Chopard watches from under their shirt cuffs. All of these things bring what many might call a basic outfit to another level entirely. Because people of taste can spot other people of taste in a matter of seconds, simply looking at the finer details of what they are wearing.

Oh, and never forget the socks

Minimalist

Often an issue is having too many clothing items to choose from (that goes for pretty much everyone), and spending ages trying to put an outfit together. Less is more when it comes to having a wardrobe that is easy to wear. There are a few colours that work really well and are easy too.

  • Navy blue
  • Black
  • White
  • Tan
  • Accent color – salmon, yellow, red (depending on what suits you)

Once you pair back what you have to fit in those colour categories anything you reach for will work with anything else you own too.

Bag

Putting mobile phones, wallets and other items in pockets of jeans really ruin the shape of them. In fact, with any trousers, you aren’t going to create the silhouette that you are hoping for. So rather than ruin your jeans or trousers, so consider the type of bag you might need. Many go for a messenger style bag as they are easy to use and can be very well made. Others opt for a backpack. The choice is yours but buy something that works with the rest of your outfit.
