How do you like your hats? Fedoras, derby, panama, newsboy.
As a true hat lover, I love them all. Here in the office, we have a hat from the collection of the late Hedda Harper, Hollywood actress and gossip columnist (1885 – 1966 ). It was given to me by a dear friend who received it after Hedda’s passing.
Harper reportedly bought over 150 hats a year. They were usually large and flamboyant and hats became her trademark. Harper once said, “I can wear a hat or take it off, but either way it’s a conversation piece.”
Hats can be conversation pieces as Harper said. Consider Kentucky Derby hats, High Fashion hats and Prop hats. We enjoy wearing our hats as perfect warm or cold weather accessories, paired with a simple t-shirt or shorts, as statement pieces at formal events, to hide hair that is unkempt, to shade from the sun or for full on glamour.
Cloches are essential for glamour! See the Tenth Street Grace, designed by Scala Cloche below. We love it in Berry!
