Here are three ways to make the most of your salon visit this winter.

  1. Know how to communicate what you want.

One of the biggest challenges as a salon-goer is knowing how to communicate what you want to your stylist. It can be difficult to tell a professional what you want, or what you are envisioning, particularly if you don’t have the appropriate buzzwords or facts.

Therefore, before you go to your appointment, it is crucial that you do a little research so that you feel prepared. This may include searching for inspiration online and then bringing those photos in; it may mean asking close friends and family what they think of your ideas, or it may just require you to familiarize yourself with a few new terms or facts (like the benefits of Brazilian blowout).

  1. Be particular about your stylist.

In addition to doing some research into the changes you want done, it is also essential to investigate who is going to be doing the service on you. Prior to making an appointment, read up on the potential stylist and salon to ensure that they have positive reviews from many previous clients.

One of the things to look for is a salon or a stylist that specializes in the style or treatment that you want. For example, you may require a hair hydration treatment expert or someone whose career has been dedicated to the art of the blowout. Whatever it is, there is no point making an appointment with someone who isn’t the best at what you want.

  1. Trust the stylist to do their job.

Once you have chosen the salon and the stylist, and have communicated what you have in mind, just sit back and trust that the professional knows what to do. Don’t see your time in the salon as an errand, but instead, think of it as a self-care luxury that you should enjoy!
