What the Heck is Scrimping?

Sam Villa

Ever curl hair and have it fall? Spend an hour creating loose beach waves or fabulous curls that fall flat? Sam Villa, founding partner of the Sam Villa® brand and education artistic director for Redken 5th Avenue has a technique that gives waves and curls staying power called Scrimping. “Scrimping is a technique done prior to curling to lock in curl pattern, texture and volume. It resurfaces the hair cuticle and creates a foundation for curl, so when hair is curled, the curl has something to hold on to and lock in place,” says Villa.

Scrimping is good for creating multi-textured finishes and foundations to support updos and styles with massive volume.  http://www.samvilla.com/how-to/tips/how-to-get-curls-to-hold-all-dayScrimping
