The Men Making Women Beautiful

giorgio_armani_vogue

In terms of fashion, the 20th century brought women’s apparel to the next level. Spearheading this reform were a class of male designer artists. Most of these famous male iconic fashion designers are known for their ability to exhibit the beauty of a woman’s body by way of stylish, modernist, creative and elegant clothing. Below you will find a list of my favorite men who have been making women look stunning, beautiful and gorgeous through their interesting and unique fashion designs.

GIORGIO ARMANI

An amazing Italian fashion designer. Noted for his clean and tailored lines. He formed his company in 1975 and by 2001 was acclaimed as the most successful designer to come out of Italy, with an annual turnover of 1.6 billion. Fun Fact- Armani was the first designer to ban models who body mass index was under 18.

CALVIN KLEIN

The American fashion designer was born in the heart of fashion, New York City in 1942. He originally launched a denim line, but his name rapidly became one of the most recognizable in fashion. In addition to clothing, Klein has also given his name to a range of perfumes, watches and jewelry. Fun Fact- Before going mainstream, Calvin was considered the toast of New York’s elite fashion scene and quickly became known for his ability to charm so effortlessly, and to “work a room”.

RALPH LAUREN

A fashion designer, philanthropist, and highly success business man with an estimated wealth of $8 billion. Known for his timeless fashion sense, the man has made his name by way of the famous short sleeve collared shirt with the Polo emblem. These shirts have since become highly sought after and can be seen worn around the world. Fun Fact- Under his high school year book picture he stated that he wanted to be a millionaire.

TOM FORD

The Texas born designer is counted among the most famous designers today, his portfolio includes serving as a creative director for both Yves Saint Laurent and Gucci. His designs are sexy, yet elegant. He encompasses modern glamour and is known for using superior materials and workmanship. Fun Fact- Tom is also a film director. His most notable film “A Single Man” starred Colin Firth, who was nominated for an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award.

When it comes to males creating fashionable clothing and accessories for women, these men are the cream of the crop. They’ve spent their lifetime designing and producing some of the best fashion the world has ever seen.

Now Is The Time To Take A Fashion Risk

1-shirtdresses-w724-1

As most fashion followers know, June is not only the first month of summer, but its fashion month. It’s a time for people to show up and show out. Whether going to the grocery store, dinner, or red carpet events, June is a time for the conservative and sloppy dressers of the world to throw their style inhibition to the wind and take fashion risks.

Let’s be honest, wearing the same look day in and day out is boring. The problem is, too many people are afraid of what others think about what they wear. The little voice in our head is constantly questioning our outfits, “is this too tight” or “is this too loose”, but what’s tight for one person may be loose for another. That’s why June is all about finding fashion trends that people can actually wear in their everyday lives. Let’s discuss the latest Summer 2015 trends that can take people for blah to BAM!

Shirtdresses

Designers are reimagining this classic shape with drop waists, double high slits, and different width belts. It’s hard to figure out what to love more about this look: the sleeve, the collar that frames the face ever so perfect, or the comfortable yet flattering length. One things for sure, It’s a one stop shop for effortless chic.

Yellow

Before you roll your eyes and say “not for me,” hear me out. From amber and canary to saffron and marigold, trust that there is a shade of yellow for everyone. The tricky part is figuring out your skin’s undertone, then finding the hue that best complements it. Keep in mind that yellow is a happy color, and has been known to attract positive vibes

Gingham

Fall may have brought us proper plaids, but for summer it’s all about the tiny well organized check. Whether you opt for a fitted or loose look, those little checks have a sexy written all over them. Check Please-

Black and White

The trend’s not groundbreaking, but black and white is everywhere. Always has been and always will be. Some people just need to be reminded how to keep it fresh. To keep this classic color combination interesting, one must mix various textures, patterns, and silhouettes.

Kimono-Style Light Weight Trench Coats

Slouchy, lightweight trench coats—belted just so—were spotted all over the runways this season. I’m a sucker for a good layer, and why wouldn’t I be? This look is comfortable, stylish  and a mix between a robe, a proper coat, and a kimono. It’s a win any way you look at it.

Head-to-Toe White

At this point, it isn’t about the rules of when you can wear all-white; it’s about how you wear it. New styling tricks include mixing textures, layering multiple pieces, and teaming various shades. All white everything is a statement that we should all be attempting to make. It oozes confidence.

Flats, Slides, and Sneakers

Thank the fashion gods, comfortable shoes are here to stay! So whether you’re a sneakerhead, appreciate minimal two-strap sandals, or love plain slides—there’s something cute and comfy out there for you. Feet around the world are saying thank you.

What’s most important is having fun with the looks, not wearing them all at once, and remembering that clothes are temporary ways of expressing yourself, they’re not life changing. Just think of June as a one month pass to try different styles and not worry about anything but how each piece makes you feel.

The Coolest Denim CEO Talks To It’s A Glam Thing!

warren meia pics 005-2

Warren Green is the CEO of Golden Girls Clothing and GGJeans, a clothing/denim company out of Canada that has taken Hollywood and America by storm being spotted on countless celebs and red carpets. It’s A Glam Thing got to chat with Mr. Cool about his ever-growing brand…

11206844_821479361261812_2058289697533722736_o

How would you describe your own personal style?

My personal style is very casual and laid back as you can see… Jeans and sweats all the way!

What fashion trends in the denim world do you see happening that you either like or dislike?

I really like the return of the sixties and seventies. The resurrection of acid wash and tie-dye denim is so cool and fresh. What I really don’t like is bell bottom pants and super flares though. After seeing girls in slimming and flattering tight stretch denim jeans and now going to bell bottoms is not an attractive look.

What makes your jeans different than others?

We are all about comfort and sculpting all women’s bodies into fitting into a perfect jean. The fabric moves with your body so it continuously keeps your body tight, while being able to wear our jeans all day and night… You will never want to take them off!

What styles / collections do you have coming out later this year and into the future?

We are in the midst of putting together our Spring collection. We will be adding the dye and super bleach denim into the line. We are also adding skimmers and flare legs.

If you weren’t running GGJeans, what would you be doing?

I would probably be really bored. This company is like my baby.

Chatting Glam With Dr. Sergio Alvarez!

pqWRjW_r9_5BnwbHe0c1jgrEeM7bjGpvI5lbCglucfQ

Dr. Sergio Alvarez is one of the top plastic surgeons to the stars working out in Miami, befriending the likes of Miley Cyrus, Heidi Klum, Elton John, Audrina Patridge & countless others, and he gave It’s A Glam Thing a few moments of his time to chat glam and beauty, along with some tips of the trade.

bguF3sbiE5Ed2a8zgijEblPY9HsZDsaiFkr3U90eC0s

What is the definition of glam and beauty to you?

I believe beauty comes in many different forms. It also changes from culture to culture, from person to person, and from time to time. What we in North America have set as the “ideal of beauty” isn’t necessarily what Europeans or Middle Easterners find as “beautiful”. I truly believe that beauty is rooted in someone’s character, which ultimately presents through his or her external features. It is how they groom themselves, how they dress, and how they present themselves; and that is different from person to person. In plastic surgery we are privy to an individual’s insecurities about their bodies, but I think it is amazing how addressing those issues for each individual changes the way they think and feel. It still boggles my mind how much plastic surgery can change a person’s life and how they feel about themselves.

What trend in the cosmetic surgery world do you see happening a lot these day?

Trends are a huge part of our field but I like to separate out the marketing from the science, because the marketing is way ahead of the science. From a scientific trend, fat transfer is the hot topic in our field today. We are seeing some amazing results from transferring fat to the face in small quantities due to the fact we tend to lose fat throughout our face in our later years. In Miami specifically where this trend is being seen clinically is in what we call down here the Brazilian Butt Lift. We transfer a large quantity of fat into the gluteal regions to help shape and enlarge the gluteal silhouette. Women come in asking to look like Nicki Minaj or Kim Kardashian.

What is the number one compliant most females have when they come in for a consultation?

One of the most common complaints I typically get from women is that they don’t feel they fill out or accentuate their curves in clothing. I think a lot of women have a desire to look great naked, but also have a desire to feel they can make an outfit look amazing by filling it out or accentuating their curves.

Why do you normally turn down potential patients?

When I turn down a patient it typically is due to a lack of understanding about expectations. I think that understanding one another is key to having a happy patient. If I don’t feel like a certain patient understands or accepts the limitations of what I am able to provide I would rather decline the patient than have an unhappy patient down the road.

Does your offices sell any types of beauty products besides the surgeries you perform?

Yes I have a medispa component to my practice as we like to offer a one-stop shop for ones beauty needs. I have aestheticians that provide an array of facial and bodywork. We currently carry the new Zein Obagi products called ZO but are always on the lookout for the newest and hottest products that work!

5 Questions With Miss Los Angeles Annabella Gutman!

64841a_9877819a9d974aa1a86d22801c67f68e.jpg_srz_p_438_548_75_22_0.50_1.20_0.00_jpg_srz1

Her name is Annabella Gutman and she is the current Miss Los Angeles 2015 that has been making quite a name for herself in Hollywood recently with several big screen projects in the works, including a role on HBO’s Entourage. It’s A Glam Thing got to chat with her about her stunning an fabulous style/looks!

FullSizeRender-3

How would you describe your style?
For daytime, I usually like edgy and trendy cool, but at the same time comfortable. For evening wear, it depends upon which event I go to and what the venue is. For less dressy events, I would wear something with leather, leggings and boots. For red carpet events I would wear gowns by my favorite designers.

What fashion trends do you see happening that you either like or dislike?
Recently more than ever we are seeing a lot of see-through outfits on the runway, which I think is kind of cool. I don’t particularly care for dresses that look like tents, or 10 sizes too big. I don’t find that very flattering.

What makes your style different than others?
I usually dress without regard for trends. My favorite look is dark denim jeans, shirts and skirts. I put that together with cool accessories and shoes or boots. I love the spring and summer colors, and beautiful floral prints. My favorite colors are light blue, yellow and light purple. And of course you can never go wrong wearing black.

What fashion brands are you personally a big fan of wearing on red carpets and to events?
I like DKNY, Marc Jacobs, Dior, D&G, Prada and Vera Wang. When I dress down, I also like AG, Top Shop, and Guess.

What is your definition of “Glam”?
Glam has to start with a confident woman. You can wear a vintage outfit or glamorous Dresses.

5 Glam Spring Style Tips!

Spring is here and so here are my 5 Glam Spring Style Tips to get you all ready for the warmer weather ahead…

ANII-BK-14-731x1024

Style Tip 1:
The Perfect Length
Length is key when rocking the flare jean. Make sure the hem is skimming the surface of the ground. More than a half inch off the ground is too short. When in doubt it’s best to go longer. We have the Malibu Flare Jean in three lengths (short, regular, and long) available to ensure you get the best fit.

Style Tip 2:
Perfect Proportions
In order to make the most impact with the flare style, you’ll want to consider your proportions, which means really playing up that long, lean line of the pant leg. Go with a top that mimics that same length, such as the Provence Sweater. Wear it open over that tucked in top to accentuate your waistline. Long, layered necklaces are the perfect finishing touch.

Style Tip 3:
The Right Shoe
Selecting the right shoe is critical when wearing flare jeans. Heels are a fantastic choice because they really add to the illusion of length and height. The combination of heels and flare jeans will result in “legs that go on for days” and certainly turn heads. Or, you might want to try a flat sandal for a casual boho-chic weekend vibe. We recommend staying away from any closed flat shoe (for example: loafers, ballet flats, or boots) as they can detract from the illusion of longer legs.

Style Tip 4:
Elongate With Color
A column of color is an easy way to make the flare jean ultra-sophisticated. Try going head-to-toe in white by pairing the White Wide Leg Jean with the Origami Pocket Tee. Throw on a denim jacket and some blocked heels and you’ll be a style maven!

Style Tip 5:
Emphasize Your Curves
The flare jean was made to flatter the female figure. The wide leg and high waist work their magic to balance out your shape. To draw attention to these details, tuck in your shirt and wear a cute belt. The result is flattering and feminine.

FIVE QUESTIONS WITH FRANK MARINO

unnamed-80

Vegas’ “longest running headliner” Frank Marino (FrankMarino.com) is bringing his famed female impersonator show Divas to the Avalon Hollywood. This one-night only (Friday, March 13, 2015) event benefits Cops 4 Causes (Cops4Causes.org) new Golden Ticket program for LA County’s foster youth. We caught Frank between costume changes for five fab questions.

NN: You’re a legend! Do you remember the first time you put on heels?

FM: The first time I put on a pair of heels was when I dressed up like Diana Ross at 16 years old on Halloween.

NN: When did you absolutely know showbiz was the life for you?

FM: I knew Showbiz was for me when I saw how much bigger the paycheck was going to be than my original plan to become a doctor.

NN: What’s the funniest thing a fan has said or done?

FM: One time I had a fan run up to my mother (who dresses like a country western star) and ask for an autograph thinking it was me.

NN: Is there one diva (living or passed) you haven’t done – but want to? Who and why?

FM: I don’t enjoy doing impersonations, I prefer to do my own femme fatale character and the only person I will impersonate is the late great Joan Rivers.

NN: You’re bringing your show to LA for the first time – the Golden Ticket gala must be something very special. Tell us about why you choose to support it.

FM: Because back home (Las Vegas, NV) I always work with children’s charities like Make A Wish and when (Cops 4 Causes founder) Christopher Landavazo told me about all the foster children and that one out of five are LGBT, I knew I wanted to be associated with the event.

NN: What advice do you have for young performers looking to break into the biz?

FM: The ladder of success is even harder to climb especially when you’re wearing high heels but don’t let anyone hold you down.
