My Favorite Skin Serum

I came a cross Arianna Cellular collagen Face Serum and just love it.  The very first time I tested it I found great results. The next day my skin was soft and supple. Although it is expensive, it only takes a little bit of product to get results. Here is some information on the product.
 Cellular Collagen Face Serumarianna

Active Dead Sea minerals have been combined with a rich blend of natural plant extracts, essential oils, Collagen & Vitamins A, C & E to create this lightly textured Serum.

This is more about the skincare line: Arianna Skin Care

Beauty comes from the inside with Dead Sea Minerals Skin Care

Arianna Beauty was founded in 2007 by CEO, Miri Torres. Miri’s vision for Arianna is to show people that beauty and health come from the inside, and treating yourself well is a promise you need to make to ensure growth and happiness. Born in Israel, Miri arrived in the United States when she was 22. Diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in high school, she had several chemotherapy treatments, which drastically altered her weight and appearance. During that trying time, Miri found that her beauty and energy were restored through natural treatments, confidence from building her business, and an overall healthy lifestyle.

Arianna Beauty now sells the products that Miri used in her own personal restoration. In the past six years Miri has built a successful network of Arianna Skin Care stores in Boston, Martha’s Vineyard and Newport. In these stores, you will find an oasis that sells mineral make-up, skin care, bath accessories and beauty products.

My holiday glamour tips.

The holidays are meant to be joyous. What better way to celebrate the festivities than to dress up and go GLAM for your holiday events? When going to parties- wearing red, silver, gold and sparkling black are all great choices for this jubilant time of the year. Fancier dresses and pantsuits are always great choices too. If you opt to wear jeans, be sure and pair them with high heals and a catchy top. Add vibrant accessories to give your look an extra shot of glitz and glam. Don’t worry about too much glitz because it is appropriate for this time of the year.

It is also bewitching to pump up your makeup. If you are going to an evening event, consider smoky cat eyes. Also, adding a bit of shimmer to the eyelids can be incredibly alluring especially if it is silver, gold or bronze.

If you play up the eyes, be sure and wear a lighter lip color. If you want to go with bright red lips, do your eyes in a natural way and add a sleek eyeliner to complete that glamorous seductive package.

Your hair should be flowing and not too sprayed down. Straight hair is sexy as long as it is smooth and has no frizz. If you can do so, treat yourself by going to a blow out bar. These wonderful alternatives to a full service hair salon have popped up in many areas and are popular for their cost effective blowouts and styles. They can blow your hair smooth or add curls and specific styles. I find these bars to be very good at what they do because all they do are blowouts and styling all day long.

Whether you wear your hair up or down, loose curls are provocative and feminine. If you are doing your own hair, a curling iron can add those romantic curls. Just remember to not heat up the iron too much or to not hold it on your hair too long as to not burn your hair. (I know this may sound obvious but you would not believe how many gals out there burn and damage their hair with curling irons.) Use a light hair spray after you get your mane the way you like it. Add tasteful decorations in your hair if it goes with your choice of clothing. This can be a playful way to be festive for the holidays!

An important thing to remember is that you need a hairstyle you can be comfortable in and feel beautiful about. Remember that taking a bit more time for yourself is not only ok, it is a positive step to making yourself feel good about yourself during the holiday season.

When you are all done putting your holiday look together, go out and have a great time! Be confident and flaunt your glitzy self. Own your glamorous look! Go out and shine! The most important thing to remember is that confidence is always the sexiest accessory!

The Beauty of Giving

School kids help distribute food to the needy for Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving yesterday, filled with love, family, friends and lots of great food!  There were about 16 at our table, but as always, there are plenty of leftovers to last the rest of the week.

It’s always such a treat to get the chance to catch up with family that I haven’t seen for a while.   But as much fun as that was, what I’ll remember most about this Thanksgiving is what I did the day before the holiday.  The Loaves and Fishes program is a non-profit organization that collects and supplies food and groceries to people in crisis over the holidays and throughout the year through local area churches.  Through that organization, I had the opprtunity to help distribute food to more than 40 families in the area on Wednesday.  The experience absolutely made my Thanksgiving!  The gratitude that I saw from those receiving AND giving out food was overwhelming.

If you ever need of a reminder of how lucky you are, I highly suggest volunteering with one of these organizations.  Giving is a beautiful thing!

The Makeup Show in Orlando, Florida at The Peabody Hotel

In my opinion I would have to say that the Beauty Industry is the best industry to work in.  With so many different techniques, products to try, people to meet and places you can go, it’s no wonder us beauty fanatics are always so outgoing.  When I was at The Makeup Show in Orlando, Florida I got to meet celebrity makeup artist Tia Dantzler, known for her work with singer/actress Jennifer Hudson, and made many new contacts and friends. Rather than me tell you all about my experience, why don’t I show you…..

They Don’t Have to Know It’s Fake

Every time I am on the beach I do the weirdest thing. I put my sunscreen on all over my body then I take my t-shirt and put it on over my bathing suit to protect my shoulders and back from the sun.  Like many fair skinned people, I have a fear of getting badly sunburned.  When I was younger I wished I could be like the other girls and get a suntan.

After about my 7th time getting sunburned, I decided to give up all together with even trying to get sun tanned by the sun.  When I went to beauty school and learned about how the sun can do some serious damage to your skin, I decided to try the “tan from a can” technique.  I tried all kinds of lotions and bronzers to just add a little something, but everything just seemed to make me look orange. I kept thinking to myself “you are not a pumpkin.”  After my last failed attempt I did exactly what I did with the sun, I gave up.

When I had to give on trying to get a tan all together, I was so devastated because I wanted to have a little color added to my pale white skin.  I swear I’m so white I’m translucent.

When I first received Fake Bake 60 Minute Self Tanner, I was very afraid to try it because of my past.   When I finally got the guts to try Fake Bake, I immediately fell in love.  For once  I WAS NOT ORANGE!!!!!!! My skin just glowed with that healthy sun kissed glow without the harmful rays.

When people complimented me on how great my skin looked I couldn’t have been happier.

So next time you want to get a beautiful glow, rethink the rays and go for Fake Bake 60 Minute Self Tanner, and see what it will do for you.

Quick Getaways

As exciting as going to movie premiers, attending celebrity gifting suites and posing for the paparazzi can be, every now and then, it’s nice to get away from all of the craziness of Hollywood.

But very few Angelenos and even fewer LA visitors would ever guess that there are many tranquil spots to enjoy right in this area.  Greystone Mansion, a Gothic-English estate in the heart of Beverly Hills, is one of my favorite places to escape and relax.

Surrounded by 18.5 acres of parkland, the historical landmark was built in 1928 by a wealthy oil baron but is now used for cultural and educational activities, photo and commercial shoots, weddings, and public events.   It has also been featured in many well-known movies including Indecent Proposal, Spiderman and The Bodyguard, to name a few.

The beautiful fountains and lush gardens remind me a lot of some I’ve seen in Europe….which I love!  And spending a half hour or so walking around the estate (which is free!) is a quick way to get away from it all without taking a trip oversees.

Recently, I was introduced to Garden Alchemy, the newest collection from Thymes and have find that it’s another, even easier way to “get away”.  Thymes paints images of an “ethereal enchanted garden” and promises that the collection’s three original fragrances, Rosemary Sage, Wild Angelica, Lemon Geranium, will “whisk you away to a dreamy, blossoming locale”…and they deliver.

Each unique scent is available in the following forms:  bubbling bath elixir, bath salt envelope, shower gel, body soufflé, mist for body and bed, mini cologne and poured candle.

I especially love the Rosemary Sage Mist for Body and Bed!  Combined with soothing willow bark and calendula extract to heal and moisturize, the relaxing scent is wonderful to use after a shower or bath and using it on my sheets guarantees me a good night’s sleep.

And the packaging is absolutely gorgeous! They look really pretty sitting on your vanity.  If you’re looking for a really nice gift that’s also reasonably priced, you’ll want to check these out.  But be sure to buy extras, you’ll definitely want to keep some for yourself.

Visit www.Thymes.com for more information.

Are You Getting Your Beauty Sleep?

We’ve all heard how important sleep is to our health.  According to the Harvard Women’s Health Watch, there are six reasons to get enough sleep:

  1. Learning and memory: Sleep helps the brain commit new information to memory through a process called memory consolidation. In studies, people who’d slept after learning a task did better on tests later.
  2. Metabolism and weight: Chronic sleep deprivation may cause weight gain by affecting the way our bodies process and store carbohydrates, and by altering levels of hormones that affect our appetite.
  3. Safety: Sleep debt contributes to a greater tendency to fall asleep during the daytime. These lapses may cause falls and mistakes such as medical errors, air traffic mishaps, and road accidents.
  4. Mood: Sleep loss may result in irritability, impatience, inability to concentrate, and moodiness. Too little sleep can also leave you too tired to do the things you like to do.
  5. Cardiovascular health: Serious sleep disorders have been linked to hypertension, increased stress hormone levels, and irregular heartbeat.
  6. Disease: Sleep deprivation alters immune function, including the activity of the body’s killer cells. Keeping up with sleep may also help fight cancer.

But what about the importance of sleep to our looks?  You know what I’m talking about.  How many mornings (of afternoons) have you awakened after a long night of partying, or cramming for exams, or insomnia and looked like ________ ……well, not as great as you might like?

The fact is, while telling someone you need your “beauty sleep” might be a pretty good way to get out of doing something, it’s more than a cute expression:  it’s a fact.   According to a study published in BMJ, a British medical journal, getting too little sleep definitely has an impact on your physical appearance!  Researchers wrote that “sleep-deprived people appeared less healthy, less attractive and more tired compared with when they are well rested.  This suggests that humans are sensitive to sleep-related facial cues.”

Here are a few of my personal tips for getting great beauty sleep:

Invest in a Humidifier

Your skin needs moisture to look great and this can be a challenge especially if you live in a drier climate.  A good humidifier is the answer.

I travel a lot for work and was finding that I never looked worse than after spending the night in a hotel room.  I’d wake up, look in the mirror and discover that my eyes were beet red and my skin was puffy and just tired looking.  But, since I started requesting a humidifier from housekeeping, those problems have disappeared.  Use a humidifier at night while you sleep. It will provide moisture to keep your skin soft, supple and younger looking!

Use a Good Pillowcase

Silk is the only way to go!  Silk contains natural proteins and amino acids that have wonderful anti-aging benefits.  And movie stars have sworn by this beauty secret or years! I was recently introduced to Sleep ‘N Beauty 100% mulberry silk pillowcases and will probably never be able to sleep on a cotton pillowcase again.

Sleep N' Beauty 100% mulberry silk pillowcases

Luxurious and oh so soft, Sleep N’ Beauty silk pillowcases are naturally hypoallergenic, keep you from waking up with creases on your face, help your skin to retain moisture, and are great for protecting your hair from bed head and split ends.  And as an added bonus, they’re even machine washable!

Forget Sleeping Pills, Use Lavender

I absolutely LOVE the scent of lavender!  But, not only does it smell great, it’s fantastic for getting a good night of beauty sleep.  I like to tuck a small sachet of it inside my pillowcase or sometimes add a few drops of lavendar oil to my humidifier.  I’ve also read that you can use lavender oil on your skin to help relax your muscles (and again, inhale througout the night), add it to your bathwater before bed or even use lavendar flowers in brewed tea.

I hope you’ll give some of these tips a try and have a great night!

Memorial Day (and Everyday) Beauty at Sephora

Going through the newspaper this morning…..yes, there are still a few people who do that….you’re likely to find lots of Memorial Day sales designed to lure you to your  nearest shopping mall.  The truth is, I’m not usually big on heading out to the mall for great fashion  finds.  I tend to seek out small stand-alone shops and boutiques for those unique items that no one else has.  But for great beauty products….I’m there!  Whether I’ve just run out of my favorite mascara or am in search of a new eye shade,  for me there’s no place better than Sephora! There’s virtually nothing beauty-related that you can’t find there!  So, while you’re at the mall this weekend (I know you’re going!), check out two of my newest finds available at the makeup megastore:

Murad Intensive-C Radiance Peel

I love the way my skin feels after using a mask.  If you want to see immediate results, this is for you!  Murad Intensive-C Radiance Peel uses glycolic acid and Vitamin C to exfoliate and  leave your skin smoother, more hydrated and brighter looking after just one use.  Not thick and “goopy”like a lot of  traditional masks, all you have to do is massage it evenly over your face and neck, leave it on for 10 minutes (there’s just a bit of tingling), rinse and pat dry and voila!  It gives my skin such an amazing  glow that I don’t even want to cover it up with  makeup.  I LOVE this!  It’s available at Murad.com and at the Murad Inclusive Health Spa®  as well as Sephora, Sephora.com, Ulta and leading salon and spa locations nationwide. $49.50 for 1.7 FL. OZ.

Vanilla Summer by Lavanila Laboratories

Maybe you weren’t able to get away for the weekend, but there’s still a way you can be transported to your own private summer oasis. Lavanila Laboratories, known for their beautiful and luxurious products that are 100% good for you, now has a healthly deoderant in a new limited edition fragrance.  Vanilla Summer has a soft, sexy scent that really does remind me of summer! Its blend of essential oils (fresh mango, pineapple, coconut milk and island sugar cane and Madagascar vanilla) will make you think of  hot summer nights and tropical breezes.  It’s made from natural ingredients and anti oxidants that nourish and protect the skin. It smells amazing and just makes you want to say “mmmmmmmmm”.

Give these two a try and enjoy the holiday everyone!
