WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF 2019’s TRENDY WORKOUTS

A MILLENNIAL CERTIFIED TRAINER BREAKS IT DOWN

www.vhsred.com

Just like fashion, music and interior design, fitness goes through fads. Who hasn’t seen an Insta post of “Goat Yoga?”  For those who bopped around to Madonna, we can’t forget Jazzercise, step aerobics, The Thigh Master, Tae-Bo, The Abdominizer, Buns of Steel, and the list goes on.  Just because all “the cool kids” are doing a certain workout, does not mean it’s right for you. We turned to Vince Sant, Certified fitness trainer with ISSA and CEO of Vshred.com a fitness platform. Vince certainly speaks from a place of knowledge, with close to 1 million YouTube subscribers tuning in for his advice.

Wearable Technology

Whether they’re fitness trackers, pedometers, or calorie counters, this market has reached scheduled 4 billion in sales as of 2017. One study showed that non-wearers experienced more weight-loss because they relied on personal effort and, literally, sweat, to guide their workouts vs. a numerical data indicator. Vince suggests that “Sweat and good old-fashioned fatigue may be more reliable than data numbers on your wrist.  After a few weeks or months, the novelty of knowing your step totals or resting heart rate wears off–even faster if you know about inaccurate those numbers can be.”

Spinning

People choose spinning for a variety of reason including weight loss, cardio and stress relief.  Spinning is great for weight loss if done correctly and with a sensible diet that produces a caloric deficit. Vince Sant cautions that ”Spinning excessively can actually lead to atrophy of the muscles in your legs which is the opposite of strengthening them. The simple truth is that losing weight without strength and weight training can and will lead to atrophied and weakened muscles throughout the body”. Although cycling helps build some muscle, doing excessive amounts of cycling without the addition of strength training is not a comprehensive well-rounded workout.

Boxing

Boxing is a great workout for your entire body. It has stress relief benefits, helps concentration and eye-hand coordination. The improved endurance and stronger muscles you build translate effectively into life outside the ring, giving you the ability to perform everyday movements with energy and a decreased risk of injury.

Vince points out that, “With contact, boxing injuries can be a factor. Even while wearing head and mouth protection, sparring and competition can lead to minor injuries such as bruises and split lips and more serious injuries such as broken bones and concussions.” Vince suggests limiting boxing trained to shadow boxing, striking focus mitts and the smaller focus pads and hitting the heavy bag and speed bag, along with classic boxing training modalities such as running and jumping rope.

HIIT Training

HIIT training is a type of metabolic workout where you use both cardiovascular and strength training.  Your aerobic and anaerobic systems will both be used throughout the routine, meaning glycogen and fat will both be used as fuels.  Most of these training sessions last between 10-40 minutes. Vince says that “The biggest risk of this type of training is an injury caused by lack of supervision or know-how of the person training.” Studies show that your resting metabolic rate can be increased for the 24 hours after you do these types of workouts and that it may burn fat more efficiently than long aerobic workouts. Vince says, “The key is to recognize signs of fatigue that can lead to poor form and injury.”

Metabolic Training

This is a combination of cardio and strength conditioning. As examples, think of P90X, CrossFit, Insanity, or high-intensity circuit training. Metabolic training is about increasing “the storage and delivery of energy for any activity.” If you do this type of training the correct way, you can burn more calories, get ‘afterburn,’ build endurance, strength, and fitness while having variety. Since this type of exercise seems to have so many benefits, why doesn’t everybody just do it? “The problem,” says Vince Sant, “Is that it’s just too intense for many beginners.”  The cons of this workout are that there is a high attrition rate, a risk of injury and muscle soreness. If you are set on doing this program, Vince advises to bone up on more basic fitness first.

Body Weight Training

These are simple, effective exercises to improve balance, flexibility, and strength without machinery or extra equipment. Examples include:

Push-ups

Pull-ups

Dips

Squats

Lunges

The pros of this method include high repetitions and increased endurance. There is no equipment required, it is convenient and can be done at home or while traveling. There is less risk of injury while working several muscle groups at once. Vince says, “Some of the cons include that it may be difficult to achieve an intensity that is near the individual’s one-rep max. It also may be difficult to execute for those who are overweight.”

Vibration Boards/Platforms

“These are an absolute no,” says Vince Sant. He adds, “Vibration boards do not, and will not, work better than traditional exercises like barbells or cardio. The theory is that the vibration signals are transferred into body tissues, tendons, and muscles, which increases muscle contractions and ultimately improves muscle strength, coordination, and balance. In the long term, such contractions would increase muscle mass and energy expenditure, leading to better control of blood sugar levels. But these are still theories. The overall effects of whole-body vibration therapy remain elusive, as scientific studies vary largely in the vibration parameters used.”

If you are confused, what is the best method to adopt for your workout?

Vince stresses that “a workout should be fun, convenient, not cause repetitive injury. It should involve a warm up and cool down, have appropriate gear, be mindful of weather, be aware of your body.  If something is causing pain beyond burn, stop that exercise. Workouts should take into consideration pre-existing injuries. For example, if you have chronic knee pain, swimming is a good option, while jumping and squats are not. Vince sums it up with, “For the most well-rounded workout, be sure to incorporate, balance, aerobics, flexibility, and strength training.”

Switching From Cigarettes? Here’s What You Can Expect

It’s not uncommon to find most people switching from cigarette smoking to vaping today. E-cigs are an elegant alternative to tobacco smoking and also carries fewer health risks. Finding the best cheap vape starter kits 2019 can certainly be a daunting task. There are many vape products in the market today, and if you’re switching from cigarettes, you can find it confusing.

As for the people who have already made that step, there’s no turning back as vaping gives you a total lifestyle change. If you’re a newbie, here are some things that you need to keep in mind.

Your Body Will Notice the Difference

Contrary to what some people advocate against vaping, e-cigs have more benefits than their counterparts – the traditional tobacco. The first benefit that you’ll experience if you’re switching for the first time is the increase in the amount of oxygen in your body. With vaping, you are no longer consuming carbon monoxide inhaled when smoking tobacco.

Secondly, your lungs will start to clear mucus, and you’ll notice a difference in breathing. Besides, there are other long term benefits of vaping as compared to smoking tobacco. For instance, statistics suggest that you can significantly reduce the risk of heart attack in five years.

Diverse Flavors

In comparison to tobacco smoking, vaping introduces a wonderful benefit where you get to enjoy various flavors. There’s a variety of e-liquids in the market designed to suit different tastes. If you’re switching from cigarettes, you can experiment with the distinct flavors like cinnamon, vanilla, buttered popcorn, creamy flavor, fruity flavors, menthol, watermelon, and the list is endless.

Also, since the amount of chemicals you’re consuming is dropping rapidly, you’ll experience improvement on your tongue. Therefore, everything you eat will be tastier.

More Savings

The cost of smoking is very high especially in countries where taxation on tobacco is fierce. Vaping can help you to save money as compared to cigarette smoking.

If you opt to go for reusable vaping devices, you will save a lot of money eventually as long as you regularly maintain your equipment. Apart from the reduced health risks benefits, you will also have a chance to save money on healthcare costs.

Maintenance

Maintenance is an indispensable part of the vaping practice. If you want your equipment to serve you a long time to come and enjoy a full vaping experience, there’s a price to pay. If you opt for disposable, e-cigs, you can save some money but you may never know what vaping is all about.

So, if you purchase a durable vaporizer, or a MOD or other customizations to suit your needs, you’ll need to have a good plan of maintaining your device. You also need to get accustomed to cleaning your equipment for a tremendous experience.

In conclusion, if you’re switching from cigarettes, vaping will be a fantastic way to help you save money, and reduce the health risks involved in cigarette smoking. Besides, if you’re looking into a different experience, vaping will offer you a world flavor.

“SLEEP AWARENESS WEEK” BEGINS MARCH 10TH

10 Sleep Hygiene Tips from a NYC Neuropsychologist

www.comprehendthemind.com

Lack of sleep is such a universal problem that the National Sleep Foundation has proclaimed the week of March 10th as Sleep Awareness Week.

How do you assess your bedroom habits and optimize your nighttime routine for better sleep? To find out, we turned to Dr. Sanam Hafeez, a New York-based neuropsychologist and faculty member at Columbia University.

Studies show that sleep quality is directly related to sleep hygiene. So could it be that your nighttime habits are causing you to lose out on the benefits of quality sleep?

Dr. Hafeez says that “not only are people unaware of why they are suffering from insomnia or not getting quality sleep but they are unaware of the effects this has on their health, daily functions and brain.” The New York-based Neuropsychologist explains that a large part of insomnia is a result of poor sleep hygiene.

The National Sleep Foundation defines sleep hygiene as “a variety of different practices and habits that are necessary to have good nighttime sleep quality and full daytime alertness.”

Here are 10 behaviors that could be causing a decline in your sleep quality and tips from our neuropsychology expert explaining how to fix them!

  1. Working Out Too Late Into The Night

Working out can help de-stress the body and reduce anxiety. However, “if done too close to your bedtime your body might still feel the adrenaline and pump of the workout and it might be difficult to fall into a sedative state,” says Dr. Hafeez.

  1. Having A Smoke Or Some Caffeine Too Close To Bedtime

“Nicotine is a stimulant and it is well known to cause insomnia. Depending on how your body processes nicotine you could be putting yourself at risk for low quality sleep which means a lack of REM sleep,” warns Dr. Hafeez. This stage of sleep is where we recharge the most throughout the night. In other cases, people unassumingly snack on chocolate or have a soft drink that contains caffeine and that caffeine will keep you in a state of alert and it will be more noticeable that you are alert as you stare at the roof without any other activity. “Caffeine is great at work when you need a little help staying alert, but at night it can cause you to miss out on that much-needed recharge,” Dr. Hafeez says.

  1. Using Your Bed For More Than Just “Bed” Functions

Much like productivity professionals advise maintaining a designated area

for studying or work, sleep experts say your bed should be used almost exclusively for sleeping and sharing intimate moments with our spouse or lover. This is because, “the brain has a hard time adjusting to sleep mode if it gets used to being on the bed all the time, eating, watching tv, studying or just hanging out. You’ll have a harder time shifting into actual ‘bedtime,’ explains Dr. Hafeez.

  1. Eating Too Late Into The Night

For late night munchers, it is no strange notion that after a binge session at 3 a.m it may be a little difficult to fall asleep. “Your system is stuffed. Depending on how much you eat you may feel bloated or hyperactive. This can result in you feeling uncomfortable. If you’re on a diet you may feel guilty for breaking your regimen,” says Dr. Hafeez. All of these things cause your brain and system to be preoccupied with all but falling asleep.

  1. Though It Is A Sedative, Alcohol Will Ruin Your REM Sleep

Many people say they sleep better after drinking. That may be true for a glass of wine with a light dinner but “a restful sleep is not the same as blacking out or drinking so heavily that you find yourself inebriated prior to sleep,” explains Dr. Hafeez.  Alcohol disrupts the way our body absorbs liquid, thus causing urgent and frequent needs to go to the restroom to urinate. Dr. Hafeez also says alcohol tends to disrupt the restful stage of REM.

  1. Going To Bed Angry Will Make It More Difficult To Fall Asleep

Not only is “don’t go to bed angry”  good relationship advice, it turns out it ’s great psychological and sleep hygiene advice. Dr. Hafeez explains that “if you are able to leave things off with someone in a better place or in a place of ‘we will work this out in the morning because we care for each other,’ you have a better chance of letting your body relax into sleep.” If you aren’t able to calm your frustration for the night you may find your mind circling the problem until the sun comes up.

  1. Clinging to Your Cell Phone While Trying To Doze Off

This is a major issue in today’s digital age. People are tuned in to their phones too late into the night, reports show. “As more and more people opt to have their phone by their bedside and go to bed staring at their screens there is an increase in phone-related insomnia. Our eyes stay alert with the light of the screen explains Dr. Hafeez. “The constant scrolling and continued processing of information make it so your brain never begins relaxing,” she says. Tips for avoiding this issue are to leave your phone across the room. This also helps when waking up in the morning and having to walk across the room to turn your alarm off.

  1. The Room Temperature Is Not Optimized For Sleep

Optimal room temperature is commonly thought to be 60-67 degrees according to the national sleep foundation. “Your body has a way of regulating temperature relative to the temperature of the room in order to relax you into sleep,” says Dr. Hafeez. If the room temperature is too hot or too cold it can cause discomfort that will wake you up throughout the night or keep you from falling asleep at all.

  1. Poor Lighting Environment

If a room is getting too much light coming in from the window or from your bedroom hallway it can be difficult to sleep. “Many people with light sensitivity will use blackout curtains to optimize the room for sleep. When clocks move forward and the sun rises at an earlier time people often struggle to acclimate themselves to the new time because the sunlight is waking them up,” says Dr. Hafeez

  1.  Napping During The Day

Sleep is a recharge for the day’s activities. If you are constantly napping or napped too heavily during the day, your mind won’t be as tired as it usually is once it’s time to tuck into the sheets for the night. “Napping if necessary is not a bad thing. But one 20 to 30-minute nap is very different than sleeping all day and then struggling at night to sleep,” says Dr. Hafeez.

The Importance of Double Cleansing in Your Beauty Routine

If you’re a fan of the Korean skincare routine then you know the reason for having double cleansing in your beauty routine. Korean beauty experts emphasize the importance of step one: oil cleanser, and step two: water cleanser, over the popular western counterpart: make-up remover.

It’s important that you use both oil and water cleanser before using any skincare products like Klairs in both your day time and night time skin regimen. Here are some of the reasons why:

  1. Double cleansing removes makeup thoroughly

Makeup is composed of a lot of ingredients and most of them are designed to stick to your skin for a long time. Cosmetic products like mascara, eye shadow, foundation, and others are hard to remove through makeup removers alone. In fact, there’s a tendency that these makeup removers may trap particles into your pores.

Since makeup products have various chemicals that can’t be removed by soap and water alone, it’s important to start your face care routine with an oil cleanser, immediately followed by a water cleanser.

  1. Double cleansing is gentle to the skin

Facial washes and facial soaps tend to dry your skin. If you have acne-prone or sensitive skin then you could be allergic to some ingredients and acids found in these facial soaps. Some people skip the soap in fear of getting breakouts. Fortunately, no one is allergic to oil and water, so it lessens the chances of irritation.

  1. The double-cleaning action ensures clean pores

The oil cleanser acts as an absorber of all makeup gunk and other oil-based products on your face, while the water cleans up everything else that the oil didn’t absorb. Make sure that you’re using a clean cotton round or else you would risk putting dirt into your pores once again.

  1. Compatible with all skincare products

Most skincare products have ingredients that are specific and incompatible with some other products. For example, AHA, Retinol, and BHA shouldn’t be used together. Oil and water cleansers, however, are compatible with all toners, serums, moisturizers, creams, and others so you’re safe from possible allergic reactions or skin damage.

Conclusion

Double cleansing should be the very first step because the dirt, bacteria and other external substances might get trapped in your pores. There’s are reasons why double cleansing is step one and two of the famous Korean skincare routine, and these reasons should be taken seriously.

What it Takes to be Fit and Healthy

It happens all too easy: you turn around one day and suddenly find you’re not feeling too well. It’s possible to turn things around if you reach this point, but it’s much easier to change a few things and lead a much healthier lifestyle before it happens. Being fit and healthy doesn’t mean you need to spend hours at the gym and eat nothing but steamed vegetables and grilled chicken. Keeping in shape can be far less painful than that! Here are some habits you might want to consider adopting.

  • Kick Your Bad Habits

If you say you haven’t got any, then you’re only kidding yourself. Some habits are definitely a big no-no, such as smoking and addictions. There are also a few habits that aren’t too bad if practiced in moderations. These include alcohol, sugar, caffeine, and junk food. Enjoy these once in a while rather than regularly, and you’re not doing your body too much harm.

  • Regular Checkups

There are a number of medical issues and complications that, if caught early enough, can be successfully treated. This is why it’s important to go to your doctor for regular health checks. Many examinations you can also do at home, such as self-exams for breast or testicular cancer. Additionally, keep an eye on your moles and if any of them change shape or color or start to bleed, have them checked out.

Also, don’t forget to give some attention to your eyesight as well! Many working professionals stare at screens for the most part of their day, and this can cause serious strain. Sub-optimal eyesight can also lead to other ailments, such as headaches and migraines, so be sure to have a look at iconic for your next pair of comforting eyewear! Not only will you find yourself working much more efficiently, but you’ll also have peace of mind knowing you’ve done everything you could to take care of yourself as best as possible.

  • A Healthy Sleep Pattern

How much and how well you sleep has an impact on both your physical and mental health. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s hardly surprising so many people don’t get enough. If you’re not getting enough sleep, your metabolism, moods, concentration, memory, stress hormones, immune system, cardiovascular health, and motor skills suffer. When you’re asleep, your body has time to heal, repair and rejuvenate itself.

  • Regular Exercise

If you want to be fit and healthy, you need to exercise regularly. There are various types of exercise you should be doing. Stretching exercises increase your body’s flexibility. Strength training strengthens your muscles. Aerobic exercise is good for your heart and lungs. Ideally, you want to be doing all three of these. As long as you’re getting some exercise, however, it’s going to be better than doing nothing at all.

Exercise can be very energizing, and you might find yourself taking it very seriously. If you’d like to be involved on a more professional level, there are many opportunities if you fancy a change of career. For example, click for personal trainer courses Brighton. Even if you don’t want to be a full-time personal trainer, it’s something you could do alongside your regular job or use what you learn for your own purposes.

  • Eat a Healthy Balanced Diet

Does your regular diet include meat on a daily basis? You need to change your diet so that you’re eating more fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. If you feel the need to snack, then choose wholefoods such as fruit, vegetables, and nuts. Drink plenty of water and avoid highly processes foods.

Research is now showing that the key to lifelong good health is making a few simple changes in what we eat, how we exercise and the way we sleep. All the tips mentioned above are manageable if you really want to make a difference.

3 Habits of a Fierce Female

The era of independent women is now. A recent Forbes article detailed how women in the Millennial generation are enjoying the same opportunities as men, are more financially free than ever and are even 7 percent more likely to finish a Bachelor’s degree than men. Previously stricken by the responsibility of children and the social norm of having no career, modern research and technologies are making it easier for women to be completely independent. Read on to see how easy it is to be a strong, independent female in 2019.

1. Protect

Men may be physically stronger, but that doesn’t stop women from protecting themselves and their families. Nowadays, there are so many avenues to ensure safety for your home. It’s always important to start with a comprehensive home security system, one that has detailed features like wire-free equipment and night vision. You may be thinking that these seem hard to install or difficult to manage, but brands like Lorex are making it easier with every model. In fact, the company’s new Noctural or Wire-Free product lines have all the latest and greatest features, can be installed DIY and can even be controlled through a Lorex App so you can always be in-the-know.

Alongside, you could also invest in a guard dog for added protection, or even conduct simple steps like cleaning out the backyard regularly so intruders can’t hide. Keeping up with all these steps on a regular basis make it easy and manageable to protect your family and your home.

2. Provide

The beauty of so many new technologies and trends is that each individual is provided with so much for freedom, both personally and professionally. Even if you’re married with kids, the digital space opens up so many doors to each your own income and be financially free. Whether it’s starting an online e-commerce business, writing a blog or becoming a social media influencer, new job opportunities are opening up with each new innovation.

If entrepreneurship isn’t your forte, many companies are open to remote work that relies heavily on video conferencing and digital platforms. If being a mother or having that flexible at-home schedule is important to you, but you don’t want to give up your financial freedom and general independence, then you don’t have to. Do some research into some of these methods — they’re easier than you think, and thousands of women around the world are finding a lot of success while juggling family life.

3. Improve

Men are notoriously known for being handy both indoors and outdoors, but there’s no reason why any woman can’t complete the same activities. The essence of being independent is being able to fix things and move forward without too much help, and nowadays, with so much information easily accessible, being independent has never been easier. Whether it’s your car that needs to be fixed, your light fixtures, some gardening, or anything else around the house, take to the web to figure it out. You can search numerous “how-to” sites, explore YouTube for step-by-step videos or follow blogs and social media accounts that provide great tips and tricks to build and fix various items. Don’t be disheartened until you do some research, and always remember to stay safe with new equipment and processes.

These days, with access to so many technologies and new trends, being a fierce independent female is not as difficult. There are so many new ways of working, handling money and managing your home, so be sure to do some research so you don’t have to give up any sense of independence.

Event Planning 101: Custom Apparel

Have you ever seen someone running an event who is truly in their element? It’s quite a sight to behold. They’ve got a headset, clipboard, can answer any question without skipping a beat, and somehow can manage to answer e-mails while holding three conversations at once. Some people just have that event planning gene and any team with someone like that should consider themselves lucky.

But not everyone was born to coordinate. There are many instances where the person in charge of planning an event was simply tasked to do so and is figuring it out as they go along. Both seasoned event planning experts and novices alike can benefit from extra tips and tricks for throwing a fantastic event.

Regardless of the nature of your event, ahead are some pointers on how to throw a successful and popular event. As you start thinking about your task, begin brainstorming custom apparel that stands out. Your local source for custom printed t shirts has you covered for a variety of customized apparel to suit your event’s needs.

Come Up with a Plan

Remember that event planning whiz who runs a smooth operation and never loses their composure? They wouldn’t be able to do that if they didn’t have a plan. You can’t host an event on the fly, not when things like location permits, catering, vendors, and special guests need to be arranged.

Start outlining your event in relation to the expected number of attendees and the number (and technical needs) of your speakers, performers, vendors, or demonstrators. From there you can start to think of the right venue and move ahead with things like liquor licenses (if applicable) and catering.

Think about the timing of your event: is it happening in the winter, spring, summer, or fall? Knowing the expected climate and seasonal colours can guide you through selecting your custom apparel and accessories for the big day. And don’t forget the budget! No successful event ever neglected to work around its budget.

Identify Your Brand

Ask yourself this: what is the message I want to convey? A corporate event, for instance, could have the purpose of promoting a specific company’s contribution to a certain field. You might be focused on networking or addressing an industry issue like Women in Tech. The messaging and promotional materials for your event should equally reflect the event’s mission as well as the values of the organizing party.

With so many opportunities for businesses big and small to promote themselves on social media, cool designs and stylish custom clothing options can be shared widely with a consistent hashtag in order to get the word out about the event. And don’t forget to dress yourself and your team. Create custom t shirts for your event staff and volunteers for a professional and approachable look that your guests will appreciate.

Each product in the Black Castor Miracle line was specifically formulated with black castor oil; the number one ingredient associated with hair growth and other premium, all-natural ingredients like coconut water, jojoba, tea tree, peppermint, coconut and soybean oils, coconut milk and shea butter.

“Through our research, we know that within the past 12 months, more than 65 percent of African American women have worn their hair in a protective style,” said Kendria Strong, Director of Marketing. “We also know that consumers experience breakage and damage while wearing these styles due to lack of knowledge around proper hair care so we made sure that Black Castor Miracle products were simple, multi-functional and created with the highest quality ingredients to help them protect what’s theirs.”

The simplified Black Castor Miracle regimen covers the key phases or steps in the life cycle of a protective style: (Step 1) moisturize and prep, (Step 2) style and protect, (Step 3) refresh and seal and (Step 4) take down and detangle, all while nourishing the hair and scalp, sealing in moisture and protecting against styling damage that may cause breakage; helping to retain length while promoting healthy hair growth.

The eight-piece Black Castor Miracle collection includes:

  • Prep & Leave-In Moisture Butter (8oz) – Moisturize and prep hair before braided, weaved or protective styles with this specially crafted blend of black castor oil, shea butter and jojoba oil which penetrates hair strands, providing long-lasting hydration and protection against breakage during styling.
  • Anti-Humidity Heat Protectant Spray (4oz) – Provides 400°F heat protection and guards against heat damage when blow drying, flat-ironing or straightening leave out, weaves and edges. Specially crafted with a keratin complex, this light-weight formula blocks humidity, seals in shine and keeps hair straight for up to 2 weeks or until your next wash day.
  • Braid, Loc & Twist Gel (8oz) – Smooths frizz and fly-aways while boosting shine, for longer lasting styles. Leaves braids, locs and twists neat and smooth and can be used to slick edges or finish desired styles.
  • Hold & Cover Black Edge Gel (2.25oz) – Slicks stubborn edges, temporarily covers gray hair and fills in thinning edges or part lines.
  • Braid & Scalp Cleansing Rinse (12oz) – Uses a special blend of micellar water, black castor, coconut and peppermint oils to gently cleanse and condition hair, edges and scalp during braided styles and under weaves without causing frizz. Soothes scalp and calms itching; leaving hair refreshed and styles lasting longer.
  • Hair & Scalp Sealing Oil (6oz) – Locks moisture into hair strands and improves moisture retention, while helping to condition hair, soothe scalp, calm itching and prevent dryness. Great for braids, crochet styles, edges, under weave care and protective styles.
  • Moisture & Detangling Masque (8oz) – Softens, conditions and removes knots or buildup from dry, tangled hair after braided, weaved and protective styles. Helps to prevent excessive breakage and shedding.
  • Moisture Restore Treatment (2oz) – Deep conditioning treatment infused with coconut milk and shea butter that hydrates and restores moisture to extremely dry, damaged hair.

Each item in the Black Castor Miracle collection is priced between $4.49 – $4.99 and is available beginning February 2019 at beauty supply stores nationwide. The Black Castor Miracle collection will be featured in Cosmopolitan Magazine’s popular series ‘THE BRAID UP’ on YouTube in mid-February 2019.

Gourmet Macarons by RepChampion Canada on Their Way to Hollywood Celebrities

Sweet and savory gourmet macarons inspired by traditional French recipes to be featured in swag bags of 50 nominees and talent staying at the Four Seasons hotel for Oscar Weekend in Beverly Hills this February.

15th February 2019: RepChampion Canada’s gourmet macarons are recognized for their unique flavors, high quality and exquisite taste and texture. Handmade in France, they adhere strictly to the basics and the traditions, something that has led them to win the Trophée de la Gastronomie et des Vins award and take centre stage at prestigious sports events such as Formula 1.

RepChampion Canada was founded by Milton, Ontario resident Kaoutsar Entifi and has been in business for 5 years now. The reason behind its creation was a career in the hospitality industry, a love for fine foods and a passion for French pastries in general and Parisan macarons in particular.

Kaoutsar, who spent around a decade living in Paris has always been enamored with the culture and the cuisine of France. Her favorite Parisian eatery was a restaurant called Ladurée, located on the Champs Elysées. The Ladurée family were the creators of the macaron we love and eat today, and it’s Ladurée standards that Kaoutsar follows and aims to reach. So when she was approached by a French macaron supplier looking to expand into North America, she immediately requested samples because she had to find out whether they were the real deal. Kaoutsar was blown away by the unique sweet and savory flavors, as well as the perfect texture, slightly crunchy outside and softer inside. Those gourmet macarons were perfection. There was no turning back.

The flavors are truly mind-blowing. On top of traditional ones such as vanilla, raspberry, salted butter caramel, pistachio and the like, imagine a burst of unexpected flavors that range from Roquefort, goat cheese, carrot and cumin to porcini, figs and onions and bell pepper and more. These can go on a cheese or charcuterie board, be presented as appetizers or on a grazing table. A creative chef would use them to accompany a salad or even a main dish and tea rooms love to feature them as part of the afternoon tea menus they offer. There is no limit as to how they can be served.

This February, RepChampion’s gourmet macarons will be a part of the swag bags given to 50 Academy Award nominees staying at the Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Not only is it a great moment for RepChampion Canada as it recognizes the hard work that Kaoutsar has put in, but it also has a lot of emotional weight. Being recognized for the food item that inspired the creation of the company is the greatest honor RepChampion Canada could ask for.
