DIY on the FLY No Sew Tutu Easter Basket

diy_tutu_easter_basket_julee_irelandClick here to watch the video tutorial: https://youtu.be/rDBgYeiuw2g

I love Easter because Spring is officially in the air and bright colored flowers are in full bloom. I also love seeing kids all dressed up in their Easter attire and all of the excitement that the Easter bunny and the Easter egg hunt bring.  For my daughter’s first Easter I started a tradition of making her an Easter basket each year. It is something that we both look forward to. I thought I would show you how to make this adorable removable No Sew tutu Easter basket so you can start a tradition of your own. It is so simple you won’t believe it. Here’s how you make it!

Supplies: Basket (consider upcyling a basket you already have), Tulle, Ribbon, Silk Flowers Hot Glue Gun, Spray Paint (optional), Scissors
Step One: Spray paint your basket your desired color (optional).
Step Two: Cut your 5/8” ribbon your desired length making sure to add extra ribbon to the total length to tie the tutu when around the basket and a waistline when finished. Cut your tulle in assorted colors into 20” x 1.5” strips.
Step Three: Double your strips and loop them around your ribbon, pulling the fabric back through the center and pulling tight. Follow this step around your entire basket.
Step Four: Glue a flower onto the center of your tutu as an embellishment.
Step Five: Tie your darling tutu around your basket and fill it with goodies.

What I love most about this basket besides the fact that it is adorable is that the tutu can be removed and used for play!  It’s a double duty gift that any child can enjoy. Don’t be afraid to get creative and have fun making your tutu Easter basket. DIY on the FLY Holiday Snow Globes

Making Snow Globes on Good Things Utah!

Making Snow Globes on Good Things Utah!

I Love the Holidays especially when it comes to making handmade decorations or gifts for my home, family and friends. My daughter has been collecting snow globes from around the world since she was small and we love to display them during the holidays and throughout the year. They are inexpensive and easier than you think to make. This is also a really fun project to do together with your kids, grand kids and teens! Here’s how you make your own snow globe. Have fun and email me photos of your creations to juleeireland@gmail.com. I would love to post them on my blog, social media and share them with the world. Now let’s make craft magic happen!

Supplies:
1. Mason jar or old jar that you wish to recycle. I have used pickle jars, pasta sauce or jam jars so look in your refrigerator or cabinets
before running out and buying something new.
2. Miniature embellishments or mini ornaments. (Michaels Craft Stores has a nice selection. You can also find them at most craft or hobby
stores.)
3. Packaged snowflakes. (Michaels, Joanne Fabrics or most craft stores.)
4. (Optional) Spray Paint in desired color to paint your lid.
5. Hot glue gun.
Step One: (Optional) Use your spray paint to paint your lid.
Step Two: When your lid is dry begin placing your miniature embellishments onto the inside of your lid to create a festive scene that you are
happy with.
Step Three: When you are happy with your scene use your hot glue gun to glue your miniature embellishments in place.
Step Four: Sprinkle your snowflakes onto the bottom of the lid around your holiday scene. Put the glass jar over the lid and tighten until it
is completely closed. Voila! You have just created a beautiful snow globe!
Step Five: (Optional) You can add water to your snow globe if you like. I personally like them without the water just as much.
Note: If you are making these with small children substitute the glue gun for Elmers glue and let dry before adding the snowflakes.
These are so charming and delightful and they make a truly wonderful gift for friends, family or teachers. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

Krigler Sierra Vista 2142 & a Holiday Bottle

Hi all, it’s Lisa.  I was recently packing for a short trip to a wedding in FL and going through my stash of perfume samples to take along. One for me, one for my aunt and one for my mom. I was about to panic because my sample of  Krigler Sierra Vista was missing.  Maybe mom got to it first?

Sierra Vista 2142 fragrance

Well, I soon found it in my jewelry armoire . I remember putting it there to hide it from my niece Rachel, one of the other nieces, not the bride-to-be. I definitely have had my share of product sample thieves in my home through out my many years in the beauty biz! Happily and carefully (this is very expensive, even a small sample is a precious commodity), I tucked it into my carry on. So, I head out to Florida with a little bit of Arizona! This Krigler Sierra Vista 2142 perfume  pays homage to the majestic landscape of Arizona. It’s a warm and wild fragrance. It’s got a dry and woody base, blending with top notes of Californian Lavandin and Italian Bergamot with a heart of French Jasmine, Bulgarian Rose, and Cedar Wood. The base is of Dry Amber (one of my favorites), Hawaiian Sandalwood, and Brazilian Tonka Bean. The Eau de Parfum: 3.4fl.oz. is $330 and the 1.7fl.oz. is $230.

I stopped to browse Krigler.com while on the plane and found a  holiday bottle of Chateau Krigler 12. That one is $785, $465 for a refill.  Chateau Krigler 12 is my all time favorite. I dreamt about it all the way to FL!

DIY on the FLY™-Dip-Dyed Stationery

As the owner of my own greeting card company to say I am passionate about paper and people is an understatement! There is nothing more sentimental in this day and age of technology than that of a hand written note. I believe everyone needs a personal set of stationery and handmade stationery for mom will make her think of you each time she sends a note. This is a simple, fun project that the whole family can enjoy and it also makes a great gift for teachers or other important people in your life.

Step One:

Find some plain white, uncoated stationery, envelopes or gift tags from your local craft or paper store.

Step Two:

Using a plastic cup or Tupperware dish fill it with hot water and your desired color of Rit liquid dye. Let the solution cool before dipping your stationery or envelope.

Step Three:

Carefully dip the paper about an inch into the solution until you have your desired color. Don’t worry about creating a straight line. Perfection is in the imperfection. Each piece is unique and that’s the true beauty of this project!

Step Four:

Lastly, you will want to hang your paper to dry before you package it together and embellish it with a beautiful decorative ribbon and a handwritten gift note.

Smell great with a simple touch

Its Mother’s Day eve and you need a last minute gift? Don’t worry the perfect gift is right at your local supermarket or drugstore. Caress’ new Fine Fragrance body wash will give mom a beautiful 12 hour fragrance every time she touches her skin. Yes that’s right. Just by touching your skin, Caress will activate the scent.

Caress

Caress

Last Monday while waiting to go on Studio 10, I was sitting in the green room and kept wondering where this smell was coming from. Forgetting I had used it this morning I kept thinking that my perfume was just overly strong. I then realized that it was the Caress. I couldn’t believe it. The more I crossed my arms or legs the stronger it was. Good thing about it was that it wasn’t so over powering that it was bad. It gives off just the right amount and lasts for 12 hours!

Imagine having an “implanted” fragrance in your skin for 12 hours that does not need to be redone. All you have to do is touch your skin and off it goes. The one I tried was the Amore Forever. It is a very light musky scent but has a hint of roses making it all the more pleasing. I know my mom loves it because she tried it and nearly stole it from me lol. I’m no meanie though I let her use it when she wants to.

So don’t sweat a great gift for mom. Caress has you covered. Its a gift that will keep on giving and I’m sure mom will love it. For more info check out www.houseofcaress.com
