How to Set Up Your New Home With Your Hunny

Congratulations! You and your significant other have decided to move in together, and you couldn’t be happier. You have found the perfect new place, signed the paperwork and now are ready to make it your own. Before you start moving in all of your possessions, check out the following moving tips to make moving in together as seamless as possible,

Look at What You Already Have

Look at what you already have and do things on your own. You will also need to think about moving your belongings and how much you can fit in the van or moving truck. Companies such as returnloads.net can move your belongings to your new home easily.”When you’re moving into a new place with your hunny, you’re combining all of your belongings, meaning you’re going to end up with double the amount of dishes, couches, beds and other furniture. Go through both of your current homes and decide what’s moving to your new place and what can be sold, thrown away or donated to Goodwill. If you plan to sell items, start the process as quickly as possible so you have plenty of time to make the sale and don’t end up getting rid of it in a moment of desperation on moving day. You may need to make some compromises with your partner during this step, so keep an open mind as you discuss what you actually need for your new place.

Determine Your Space Needs

Even though you’re excited to spend more time together in your new home, you and your partner should discuss your space needs. For example, do either (or both) of you need an office to work at home? If you have an extra room, do you need to fill it with desks, filing cabinets and bookshelves, or do you want to make it a guest room? You also should consider creating space for both of you to have some alone time. Whether it’s in your bedroom, backyard, guest room or another area, you need to make sure both of you are comfortable and have a place to do things on your own.

Make It Secure

When you’re excited about picking out new furniture and decorating your home, it can be easy to forget security. Go through your new place to see what you need to do to make it safe for you and your hunny. For example, if you have a sliding glass door, make sure you have a rod that fits in the bottom track to prevents it from being opened when you’re not home. Install security cameras that help you monitor your home day and night with a clear picture. Look for a home security camera system that is flexible to your needs and can be set up in out-of-the-way spots so your design aesthetic isn’t ruined by a bulky camera. You want to feel safe in your new home, so don’t forget to make security a top priority.

Figure Out Your Style

One of the most difficult parts of moving in together can be figuring out the style of your home. Do you want it to be modern, rustic or somewhere in between? Do you love a certain color that your significant other hates? It’s important to take the time to sit down together and figure out how you want your new home to look. Flip through magazines, make a Pinterest board or browse stores to see what style and items you both like. Make sure you can put together a cohesive look, and keep the lines of communication open. You want this to be a positive and fun experience, not a fight that ends with one of you hating your new furniture.

Make It Personal

This is your new home together, so it should feel like the two of you. You don’t want your new home to feel like a generic picture from a catalog or like it could as easily belong to the person next door as it does to you. Hang up pictures of the adventures you’ve had together and of your family and friends. Decorate with items that speak to who you are as people, whether it’s your favorite hobbies or keepsakes from your childhood. Paint the walls in your favorite colors, go for a wacky DIY experiment or put your favorite flowers in vases around the house. Whatever it may be, make sure it speaks to you as a couple.

Channel Some Seasonal Glamor this Winter

There’s something about the festive season that stirs up mental images of rich, velvety reds and vibrant golds; glittery silvers and frosty diamonds sparkling in the night. Perhaps it’s the golden bubbles that are poured into tinkling glasses during the holiday season, or maybe it’s the fairy lit adornments on the evergreen boughs of the tree, but winter seems to be a season replete with a latent decadence that is lacking the rest of the year.

Not only in the acceptable alimentary indulgence the holidays permit, but in the very fabrics you clothe yourself with, and in the very materials you wrap up warm with indoors. Indeed, when winter comes round, you become most inclined to a desire to entirely redecorate your very home with plush textiles and faux fur, and generally channel the far north (so glamorous from a centrally-heated distance).

A Moderate Material Madness

Tempering that redesign fever slightly, why shouldn’t one’s abode and own person be self-gifted with a different fashion for the late fall and winter? It goes without saying that one doesn’t wear a short-sleeved linen number when the mercury falls, but textiles suited to warmer seasons don’t offer the right quality of comfort which the chillier months demand, either. Furthermore, you don’t necessarily have to go to a store and splash the cash to achieve the luxurious effect you want. With a little retail reconnaissance work and sourcing some high-quality wholesale fabric, you can design and create your own glamorous textiles yourself. Otherwise, look at the difference between store-bought products (whether clothes-wise or furnishings) and the cost of going bespoke, as there is nothing more glam than a creation tailor-made for one’s singular self.

Fabulous Fittings and Unique Style

Once you’ve decided the route you’re going to follow, then comes the difficult decision of color scheme (not to mention textiles that complement the tactile effect of co-sewn materials). If you’re paying for unique (whether in cash or your own time and energy), make sure the finished product is going to live up to that description, without falling into a category of style favored by the likes of someone as eccentric as Björk. Don’t forget to consider, also, that clash which harkens back to the 70’s and 80’s, when by some strange magic hostesses (as every glam-focused woman likes to call herself, especially when she has a particular skill for entertaining beloved friends) would attire themselves with a keen eye for detail, only to end up matching in an off-kilter way the living room furniture. That is not seasonally apt glamor; that is retro gone wrong.

In short, follow your fashion hunting instincts. You know what you love; you know what would suit both yourself and your home. Just go for it. After all, there is nothing more glamorous than a redesign and a personal makeover, seasonally prompted and financially accomplished in whatever manner you’re able – but always done with panache and assumed ease; a snow-covered, north-inspired froideur, if you will.

COMBAT THE EFFECTS OF STRESS with Heliocare

Ease Your Mind and Improve Your Health with Five Simple Steps

Headache? Anxiety? Restlessness? All of these symptoms could be the result of stress on your body1.  Stress is our natural reaction to life experiences2, and many people react to it differently. While we are likely to experience some stress in our lifetime, large amounts have been known to cause serious health problems and even exacerbate existing health conditions3. While there is no magical formula to eliminate stress indefinitely, there are a few simple steps you can take to help manage its effect on your body and well-being:

  1. Reduce Free Radical Damage: Stress produces harmful free radicals that can have damaging internal effects on the body and on the outside, negatively impact skin’s appearance. Start each day with Heliocare® Daily Use Antioxidant Formula, a clinically proven, dermatologist-recommended for 20+ years, natural dietary supplement. It contains Fernblock® PLE Technology, a powerful antioxidant formula that promotes younger-looking, more resilient skin by helping to maintain the skin’s ability to protect against free radicals*.  The improved Heliocare® capsules are now vegan and free of gluten and artificial dyes.
  2. Exercise Frequently and Exercise Caution When Doing So: Exercising naturally produces chemicals in the brain known as “endorphins” that are proven to improve mood and reduce stress4. And while some people may find cardio to be stress-releasing, it’s important to know that during exercise, your metabolic rate rises which increases the delivery of oxygen to cells, ultimately increasing the production of free radicals5. Fortunately, you don’t have to forgo your fitness goals. You can help neutralize free radicals by introducing antioxidants into your daily routine and incorporating soothing forms of exercise like yoga and tai chi, which are great ways to help clear the mind1.
  3. Pamper Yourself: Booking a day at the spa for a manicure, pedicure, massage or facial will help put your mind to rest and relieve pent-up stress and tension in your body.
  4. Spend Quality Alone Time: Whether at the spa or simply at home, a healthy amount of alone time allows you to relax and become more connected with your mind and body. Try setting aside at least 30 minutes a day to do something you enjoy such as reading a book, listening to music or cooking your favorite meal.
  5. Visit with Family & Friends: And while alone time is crucial, be sure to surround yourself with loved ones when you have something heavy weighing on your mind, as it is one of the best ways to ease your worries1. Whether its advice or laughter you need, spending time with these people will help you to feel better.

Learning to manage stress may be a process of trial-and-error, but making these small, positive changes to your daily routine may give you the tools you need to ultimately lead a healthier, happier life!

Heliocare® Daily Use Antioxidant Formula retails for $29.99 (60 capsules) at Walgreens locations nationwide and $14.97 (30 capsules) at Walmart nationwide. For more information, please visit www.heliocare.com or www.ferndalehealthcare.com.

Effective Reasons How Shoes Can Protect Your Feet

DRAFT

Your feet have many working areas: muscles, joints, bones, connective tissues, tendons, and nerves that need to work togetherso they can function properly. In addition to receiving our weight and taking us to our desired destination, our feet also influence the performance of our hips and glutes. It is just right to wear protective shoes to prevent possible foot injuries and infections.

Many kinds of shoes are manufactured to make certain tasks faster and safer. There are shoes made for sports, work, and treating injuries. The right pair of shoes provides numerous benefits. Here are the effective reasons how shoes can protect your feet.

Running shoes – woman tying shoe laces. Closeup of female sport fitness runner getting ready for jogging outdoors on forest path in late summer or fall. Vintage effect style pictures.

  • Protection from Harmful Microorganisms

Shoes protect our feet from harmful bacteria, virus, and fungi that may be present on the ground. During the early 1900s, there was an epidemic of hookworms that affected thousands of people. Lack of foot protection and improper sanitary facilities contributed to the governmental issue (1).

While hookworm epidemic is no longer a big problem today, proper footwear is still the best way to lower the chances of developing foot infections and parasitic diseases. Other foot conditions, like corns, bunions, and Charcot foot can also be relieved with proper shoes.

2.  Prevent Trips, Slips, and Falls

Accidents can happen in any workplace and may cause not only foot injury but also bone fracture. Companies can take steps such as installing anti-slip floor tape and implementing housekeeping measures to lower the risk of these accidents. Proper shoes also provide additional protection against trips, falls and slips.

Foot conditions like plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia and Achilles tendonitis can also be relieved with orthotic footwear. They can provide you with a better grip on things and also improve your posture over time.

3.  Prevent Fatigue

For workers who are on their feet all day, fatigue can be a huge problem. Muscles in the legs, back, feet and other parts of the body grow tired. The condition can be aggravated by wearing inappropriate footwear. This greatly affects the performance and alertness of employees.

To prevent fatigue and exhausted muscles, it is important that you use proper footwear according to the task and workplace.Look for shoes that are lightweight and shock absorbing to avoid over fatigue (2).

4. Support, Stability, and Comfort

There are different types of foot arches: low arch/flat feet, medium arch, and high arch. Each type requires enough level of arch support. Properly fitting shoes can also assist in aligning your feet, ankles, knees and back to improve your posture. Without supportive shoes, unnecessary stress or impact on certain areas of your feet and knees may occur. This can result in back, foot and knee pain.

You can reduce the risk of foot injuries by wearing shoes that offer additional padding, arch and heel support.

5.  Protect from Punctures

Aside from harmful bacteria, fungi, and viruses, shoes also protect our feet from sharp objects. Shoes that provide the best protection are those made with thick materials and heavy-duty soles. This is important, especially when working at construction sites and factories as a soft-soled shoe may not give enough protection from punctures.

Even walking along the street requires thick and well-padded soles. You may be able to walk on grass and other softer surfaces, but there can be rocks, glass and other items that may cause injuries.

Final Word

Shoes secure our feet from many things, such as sharp objects, harmful bacteria, fungi and viruses. Choosing the right pair can help to protect you against common injuries associated with your work or daily routine. For instance, exercise or sports shoes can enhance your performance as you can switch directions faster. Nursing shows give comfort to nurses who need to run around for long hours.

Do not buy shoes that feel tight and expect them to stretch after a few uses. Walk in the shoes so you can be certain that they feel right and comfortable.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST REHAB

Choosing the right addiction rehab can be a daunting task, same goes for getting the best recovery program. It can all be frustrating without knowing what to look out for. Read here for best information on Drug and Alcohol Rehab https://www.serenityatsummit.com/drug-alcohol-detox/

Two basic criteria to consider as far as ideal rehab centers go is whether you’d prefer an inpatient or outpatient treatment for you or patient.

An Inpatient addiction treatment permanently keeps the within the facility24 hours daily with all focus on recovering from their addiction during that period. If you’d prefer a more flexible approach, outpatients’ treatment options are available. Patients like this are treated outside the facility in their comfort zones but may be required to come in for counseling and participate in other forms of addiction treatment at the rehab facility.

Being able to pick out the perfect rehab system for your ward, kid or loved one will have you look at a few factors including;

  • Treatment programs: Individualized treatment programs are the most favorable forms of rehabilitation from a drug addiction. Do well to find out what kind or kinds of treatment are on offer at the facility. The more individualized the treatment plan, the easier the journey to recovery will be.

  • Family: Choose a facility that allows family to be involved with the daily recovery journey is suiting for patients. It is easy to feel lonely when separated from family, albeit for treatment purposes. Family involvement during treatment will play a significant role in the patient’s healing process. The benefits of family integration in addiction treatment are numerous. So, it is crucial that the facility has a program that includes the family in the treatment of the said individual.

  • Evidence based treatment: Look forward to centers that offer evidence based treatment procedures as you seek out a rehab facility for your loved one. Beware of treatment centers that have no record of their long-term success with patients, they probably have none. Some treatment centers feed off the relapse of patients. They do well to deliver quick fire results in as little as 30 days, which would be a good thing if patients didn’t suffer a relapse and head back to their facility.

  • Program timeframe: Make inquiries about the duration for the program. Find out if it’s a short term or a long-term program. Addiction is generally a complex problem that involves both physical and mental damage. The most common type of drug rehab program most facilities feature is the 28days program. Most addicts need a considerable amount of time that stretches longer than 28days to become stably sober.

  • 12-step based program: Over the years, the 12-step program has been proven to be completely effective especially in cases of maiden treatment for sobriety. Find out if the facility in view offers this program and how effective it has been on past patients before making your decision.

  • Pharmaceutical or medical recovery program: Various addiction rehabs partake in the use of pharmaceutical or medical recovery aids.

Treatment of this sort rarely has any impact on patients suffering from addiction. This kind of treatment fails to give the addict the necessary paraphernalia required to be completely sober. Hence, the need to seek personalized treatment is essential. Ask questions about how they go about this treatment and how effective it has been on past patients. Don’t take their word for it, ensure to do your homework before deciding.

  • Quality of Staff: The benefits of working with skilled professionals in helping addicts achieve sobriety cannot be over emphasized. It sets the tone for what kind of treatment to expect and how much attention and care your love done would get during the period. As far as rehabilitation goes, working with skilled and experienced professionals will produce remarkable results. Endeavor to look out for the credibility of licensure the staff possesses.

  • Dual diagnosis: The vast population of drug addiction patients get admitted into rehabs because they suffer from a substance or behavioral over-dependence. Unfortunately, some patients go into treatment with other co-occurring psychiatric or psychological disorder. This is termed as dual diagnosis. Most times, this disorder is depression and anxiety. If you are certain that a loved one is suffering from dual diagnosis, be sure to bring that to the notice of the correctional facility.

  • Punitive Measures: Some addiction rehabs use certain punitive measures to ensure addicts steer clear from the habit of abuse. Many centers use harsh confrontation and shame based approaches. Rumors have it that this method breaks the addict to fix them back. So far, this method has only recorded a disappointing success rate on patients. You would do well to avoid these facilities as they do more harm than good to the individual. Watch out for centers with less punitive measures that do not further debase the patient.

Why Do Hairstylists Choose Tape-In Hair Extensions?

If you are new to hair extensions and trying to select the best type, doesn’t it make sense to go with the method preferred by a majority of hair stylists? There are a number of reasons why tape-in type hair extensions are the method chosen time and time again by professional hairstylists. Here are just a few of those reasons.

  1. The application is easy. Tape-in hair extensions are easy to install. There are no tools required, except perhaps one-sided tape (more about this later). The tape-in hair extensions come in different sizes and lengths for a perfect application. Narrower pieces can be used to fill in around the hairline where the natural hair is finer and thinner; these smaller pieces can also be added to the crown for invisible addition of volume and fullness. The application is painless and takes less time than many other hair extension methods.
  2. The cost is lower than other methods. When purchasing hair extensions, cost is always a factor. With tape-in extensions you get more for your money. Why? The tape-in extensions have the unique characteristic of flexibility in the application. They can be applied by using two of the pieces per section of natural hair for a bulkier look and feel; they can also be used in single pieces per section of natural hair, and sealed off with one-sided tape. This effectively doubles the use of the hair that you buy, leaving you with extra for future applications. It also allows you to spread the hair out more evenly over the head for a very natural look and feel. When you have them installed professionally, it doesn’t take your stylist as long to put them in, which also saves you money.
  3. They are the least damaging method. Tape-in hair extensions, when taken care of properly, cause virtually no damage to the natural hair. Normal shedding continues to occur during wear of any hair extension, so don’t panic when they are removed and you see all the hair that was shed that couldn’t get out because of the extensions. You will see that your own natural hair is still very much intact. The way to make sure to get the least damage out of this or any hair extension method is to maintain them properly during wear. We will cover those points at the end of this article.
  4. Tape-in hair extensions are long lasting. Because the tape-in hair extensions sit very flat to the head, they present as a much easier way to style the hair, and they look exceptionally natural. If you are gentle in your handling of them, they will last you longer than other methods. As with any other hair extension application, care should be taken when using hot tools and in detangling them.
  5. Tape-in extensions are more comfortable. The tape-in method of hair extensions is very comfortable to wear. You hardly feel like you have them on! The tape itself is very fine, it is color matched at the top so it goes completely undetected, and there are no bumps and bulges to annoy you. They are comfortable to sleep in, and no one needs to know you’re wearing them if you don’t want them to! They are especially suited for fine and/or thin hair, as they are well hidden.
  6. There are many color options to choose from. Tape-in hair extensions are quite versatile in the colors you can choose. You can add lighter pieces for a highlighted look; you can choose Ombre options in any color you like; you can add fun colors for a special event; there are many ways to customize color with the tape-in method. As a result, you will save time, money and damage to your natural hair by using the extensions to explore your color desires! Gone are the days of having to color your hair, only to damage it further when you want to change colors. With the tape-ins you’ll never get bored with your color.

Use this handy checklist to make your tape-in hair extension experience the best it can be:

  • Talk with your stylist about tape-in extensions and their advantages
  • Consult on the color option that works best for you, have fun with it!
  • Determine what length of hair extensions will suit you best, consider purchasing a bit longer than you want, to allow for trimming the hair
  • Consider going with the single-sided tape application, as this will automatically double the amount of hair you buy, and will give you better coverage of hair on your head
  • Have your natural hair colored first if you want to match the extensions to it. It’s not advisable nor necessary to color the hair extensions, as there are many colors available. If the color doesn’t work out right, you’ve lost your money; hair extensions cannot be returned if colored.
  • Take care when brushing or combing the extensions, don’t pull or rip at them. Hold hair at the top and work downward.
  • Use the proper shampoo and conditioner recommended by your stylist. While conditioner is on in the shower, comb through the hair thoroughly before rinsing.
  • Never sleep in wet hair unless it is pulled into a firm pony tail or braid. Doing otherwise can knot the hair and make it painful and/or impossible to get out.
  • Take care with hot tools, especially at the top where the tape is applied. Too much heat can dry out and damage the tape area, causing the extensions to release/slip. Use protective products to guard against heat damage from irons and other hot tools.
  • Don’t wait too long to get back to your stylist for a re-application. Letting extensions go too long in between visits is a no-no. Not only do they start to look bad, they can do unnecessary damage to your natural hair by tangling and/or matting. Consult with your stylist on the expected time frame for re-application. Much of this depends on how fast your hair grows and how well you maintain the extensions in between salon visits.

If you do your homework and get the tape-in extensions that are right for you in color, length and density, you will be most pleased with this type of extension. Cheers to your new look!!

Natural Hair Growth – The Do’s and Don’ts

Frizz-free strands, soft, shiny hair and clean-cut ends are the tell-tale signs of healthy hair. No matter the colour, texture or length of your hair, it is vital you maintain the health of it to prevent any damage. Sometimes it may be difficult to take care; our day-to-day activities means we are outdoors in varying weather conditions and blow dryers and straighteners provide us with a quick styling fix. But don’t worry as these simple steps are here to support you on your hair care journey.

Let’s begin with what you should be doing to help you achieve a healthy head of hair!

Oils

Natural oils are a great way to add moisture and shine to your locks. When massaged into the hair, the oils can help nourish the scalp towards healthy growth. It’s best to find out which oils are best for your hair type and how it will Argan oil is well known to help tame dry, frizzy hair, whilst Sweet Almond Oil is high in protein and is ideal for fine hair.

Science!

Achieve thick, volumizing hair with lasers. You may be wondering how on earth lasers could help support healthy hair. Discovered by Professor Endre Mester, Low Light Laser Therapy is commonly found in hair devices to help stimulate hair growth by using lasers and LEDs. The iGrow Laser is an FDA-approved laser helmet which can be worn in the comfort of your home as it aims to stimulate and strengthen hair follicles, promoting growth and allowing you to achieve thick, healthy hair.

Use protection

Notice how often women rush to find shelter or rummage through their bags for an umbrella when it begins to rain – it’s just us simply protecting our hair. But what about the time we relax in the sun. Heat damage can result in dry, brittle, straw-like strands. It is important to find serums or sprays that include SPF to help protect your hair. Also, regular trimming helps protect the cuticles from breaking.

Food

Eating a healthy, balanced diet can support you in keeping energised and physically in shape, but the right foods can also help revitalise your hair by strengthening strands and promoting hair growth. Eat fishy foods such as salmon as this contains Omega 3, great for helping get silky hair or red meats that contain iron which helps stimulate hair follicles.

If you’re feeling creative, why not whip up a protein food hair mask! Ingredients such as eggs, avocados and bananas include essential minerals and protein to help nourish your hair.

Now the things we shouldn’t do…

Don’t overwash hair

Try not to overwash your hair – aim for a maximum of 2 to 3 times a week. We produce natural oils that aim to condition and protect our hair, but if we are constantly shampooing, this strips away the oils. Always use conditioner and refrain from rinsing with hot water as this can cause damage to the cuticles, leading to breakage.

Don’t wear tight hairstyles

Sleek ponytails, braids, cornrows may look good but when worn too tightly, it can result in strands of hair breaking. Give your scalp a rest – constantly pulling the hair follicles is not only painful but may lead to hair loss. Wear your hair loosely and avoid elastic bands that grip the hair too tightly.

Don’t rely on chemicals

Overuse of chemicals can lead to lifeless locks. Whether it is bleaching your hair or using a shampoo that contains sulphate, chemicals can make the hair dry and more prone to breakage and damage. Look for natural or sulphate-free shampoos and try not to colour hair so often.

So now you’ve read through the Do’s and Don’ts on how to look after your hair and ensure it receives the care it deserves. Head to www.haircaretotal.co.uk, where you will find a great range of products that aim to nurture your hair.

5 Anti-Aging Skin Regimens

The American Academy of Dermatology refers to the natural aging process as “intrinsic aging,” and while there isn’t anything you can do about that, there is definitely something you can do about “extrinsic aging.” Your environment and lifestyle choices can greatly influence the look and feel of your skin, and ultimately speed up the appearance of wrinkles and other visible lines of aging. Ensure your skin stays as youthful as possible with these anti-aging regimens.

1. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

It’s no secret that moisturizer revitalizes the skin, and keeps it feeling soft and smooth. Every time we wash our skin, in fact, some of the natural moisture is wiped away, and therefore it’s important to maintain moisture levels by moisturizing twice a day — once in the morning and once in the evening. During the day, you can kill two birds with one stone by using a moisturizer that also has SPF as this will protect your skin from any sun damage, and thus fights off premature aging.

2. Cleanse Your Face Everyday

Whether it’s once or twice a day, cleansing your face should become a regular routine to keep your skin clean and free of blemishes. One mistake that many women make when it comes to saving their skin from premature aging, is leaving their make-up on overnight. If you’re only going to cleanse once a day, make sure it’s in the evening before bed and is with a gentle cleanser as this will reduce irritation and increase hydration.

3. Have A Nighttime Routine

During your sleep is the ideal time for your skin to restore and energize itself — two activities that will naturally keep your skin young. Therefore, having a comprehensive nighttime routine that can involve not only cleanser and moisturizer but also possibly an eye cream and a strong serum, supports this regeneration and gives your skin the best chance to help itself.

4. Start Using An Appropriate Eye Cream

The skin around your eyes is usually where the first signs of wrinkles and lines appear, as it tends to be thinner drier and more sensitive than any other area. Try applying eye cream regularly to give this particular area the extra support it needs. Artistry by Amway just created the Artistry Supreme LX Collection which uses stem cells from the Gardenia Grandiflora flower. If you prefer natural products then this may be a great option and it comes in just a moisturizer as well.

5. Cater To Your Personal Needs

Everybody’s skin is different, and acknowledging this is important to ensuring your skin fights the signs of premature aging. Whether it’s dark circles, puffy eyes, an oily t-zone, excessive dryness, dark spots or uneven skin tone, always include products or rituals that cater to your individual needs.

Aging skin can be difficult to combat given the many internal and external factors that contribute to the health of our complexion. Try using some of these skin regimens and get in the habit of taking care of your skin so it remains glowing and youthful for as long as possible.

Give Me Some Sugar

Wait, before you go trick or treating know what that sugar is doing to your body.  Sugar has many harmful affects to the body, we all pretty much have heard that too much sugar is bad for us, right?  Yes, sure we have, we’ve all heard that too much sugar contributes to weight gain and yuck mouth but what is too much sugar?  Too much sugar is more than 6 tsps (25 grams ) for women and 9 tsps (38 grams) for men a day.

Too much sugar is much more dangerous than we were taught as kids.  Did you know that too much sugar can age you?  I did not know that, of course when we were kids who cared? Now that I am a woman of a certain age, I care! Around the age of 35 is when most women really start paying attention to their skin.  Eating too much sugar weakens collagen and elastin in your skin.  It’s one thing to not to care about your waist line but we generally care about our skin looking dull and wrinkly.

Still not convinced?  I’ll give you another reason you may look at that candy side-eyed (too much sugar weakens our eyesight by the way) but I digress.  Sugar is addicting! The more you have the more you want. The craving prompted by sugar is compared to those induced by cocaine and nicotine.  Yup, sugar effects the brainwaves like opioids does, scary huh?  The bottom line is, sugar is in just about everything so don’t even try cutting sugar completely out of your diet.  However, you can easily limit your intake by cutting down on your sweets and reading your food labels.  Try to stick to 6 tsps for women and 9 tsps for men a day.

The older we get our bodies does change and we become more aware as to what is going on in there.  We can’t stop the aging process nonetheless, we can stop having too much sugar.
