MARCH IS COLON CANCER AWARENESS MONTH HERE’S HOW TO SAFEGUARD YOUR HEALTH

Are you ever too young to not care about a disease, especially one that is as prevalent as colon cancer? According to the Colon Cancer Alliance, the answer is no. They report that colon cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in men and women combined in the US. In fact, The American Cancer Society estimates that:

  • 96,830 people in the United States will be diagnosed with colon cancer and 50,310 will die from the disease in 2014
  • On average, the lifetime risk of developing colon cancer is about 1 in 20 (5%); however, this varies widely according to individual risk factors

Even more alarming, the Colon Cancer Alliance reports that while rates for colon cancer in adults 50 and older have been declining, incidence rates in adults under 50 have been increasing. What should you know to protect your health?

  • First and second degree relatives (children, siblings, grandchildren, nieces, nephews) of a person with a history of colon cancer are more likely to develop this disease themselves, especially if the relative had the cancer at a young age
  • The U.S. Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends screening starting at age 40 for these high-risk individuals or 10 years earlier than the youngest age of colon cancer diagnosis for any affected relative¹

About 72% of cases arise in the colon and about 28% in the rectum². General screening guidelines recommend a colonoscopy every one to two years, beginning between the ages of 20-25, or five years earlier than the youngest age of diagnosis in the family, whichever is sooner.3

It helped tame the static and made my hair a little more moisturized without leaving my hair oily which is an important factor for me. I wear my hair in a pony tail a lot and I have very frizzy hair.  I put this cream in my hair from roots to ends after the shower and it completly eliminates all frizz. The Light Leave-In Cream also made my hair shinier and smoother. I’ve used a lot of different leave in conditioners, and this one is definitely my favorite and it smells great too.  I don’t know about you, but I don’t like panty lines. I think they make an outfit look tawdry but I don’t like to go without underwear either. After looking around for a solution to a recent gown issue, I discovered the best way to get rid of panty lines aside from going commando. I found my answer with Shibue, a stick on panty!

The Shibue Strapless Panty is a cleverly constructed panty that sticks on to the front and back of your body. When properly applied, it looks like a g-string with no sides. The strapless panty is held in place by a washable and reusable silicone gel adhesive across the front and back of the panty.  It is very comfortable and can be taken of and on with ease, however it stays in place quite nicely and relieves the problem of panty lines when wearing a tight or sheer gown. I love this and highly recommend this for the panty line problem.
