Every Girl Loves an American Crew Man

Of course when you think American Crew you think of that well dressed, totally handsome man. Well, if that’s what you think then you are right. American Crew (celebrating it’s 20th birthday) has become known as the “Official Supplier to Men”.  With the “disappearance” of the classic barbering techniques in the 80s and 90s, American Crew I on top of the game knowing “that men are back”.  What that means is that men want to be “pampered” too and would rather go back to the barber instead of in a salon.  It has really become the landmark in men’s grooming supplying stylist with products that every man will love.

While at Premiere Orlando, It’s a Glam Thing was asked to stop and talk to the American Crew booth. Their booth was amazing, their stylist just blew me away with their work with the clippers. Also while at the booth I got to see for my very first time a straight edge close shave performed by another one of their awesome stylists. You will find American Crew not only here in the U.S.A, but in many other countries around the globe.

While seeing their models on stage, I kind of felt like I was going back in time. Has anyone else noticed how styles that were popular by men in the 40s and 50s seem to be making their way into 2014? Now I have to admit, that “pompadour” look on a man is my absolute favorite. I think it makes them look very distinguished and just down right handsome. Now of course all the looks were modernized to fit the 21st century lol. I wish I had time to talk about all of the products but before I left their booth, I was given two products to try out and give a woman’s point of view on. Now your thinking, “What would a woman with a man’s hair product”? Well actually a lot of things. My hair is so thick and course that sometimes a regular hairspray will not do the trick for me. The Chris Canty Foundation

For the past six years, the Chris Canty Foundation has been a vital part of the community and has served nearly 5,000 youth through multiple programs including donating books, toys, and learning materials to almost 2,000 elementary and middle school students. The Chris Canty Foundation has hosted over 1,500 boys and girls at their annual Camp of Champions with instructional and life skills lectures to highlight the importance of teamwork, communication and sportsmanship while also stressing the importance of receiving a quality education.

Our fundraising efforts help to positively impact the lives of Charlotte’s youth, one child at a time.

Premiere Orlando/ Battle of the Strands ReCap

Premiere Orlando was in full swing from May 31- June 2. I am a little late in getting this up being that my Studio 10 segment was the next day. Oh boy did time get away from me. Anyway while at Premiere Orlando I got to meet many companies from all over the country. Such companies as American Crew, Timeless by Pevonia, KeratAGE, VERB, and an awesome scholarship program for aspiring beauty professionals called “Beauty Changes Lives” foundation. Premiere Orlando is the second largest beauty show in the country and people from all over the world come to Orlando just to experience it. Beauty industry icons such as Kim Vo, Michael O’Rourke, Sam Villa and Carlos Cintron come and share their knowledge to all us pros. Also while at Premiere, It’s A Glam Thing got invited to the competition Battle of the Strands. Battle of the Strands goes on every year with salons from all over the world compete for the title. Whoever wins at the Orlando qualifying rounds will go on to compete in Las Vegas with salons from Japan, Puerto Rico, Canada and many more!

Premiere Orlando is more than just a hair show, it is a giant classroom. When you walk into the Orange County Convention Center you can feel all the positive energy and love just exploding in the air. Stay tuned for more!!!

Love Your Eyes With Skinn Cosmetics

We all love makeup but sometimes it is hard to coordinate colors together. Over time I have learned to coordinate colors but sometimes I still have trouble and if your a makeup junkie like me you have no idea where to start sometimes. Also, it is hard to determine what colors would look best with your eye color, and shape. With all these things at “work” in makeup, I have turned to eye shadow palettes because the companies will put colors that go well together in the palette. I have had many palettes that I have loved in the past but none compare to the “The Enchanted” 6 eye color palette from Skinn Cosmetics by Dimitri James.

With “The Enchanted” eye palette you can customize your own look from natural to bold. The colors are extremely pigmented giving off awesome pops of color. My favorite pigment is the dark plum color. I love putting that on the focal point of my eye (the outer edge) and making it my eyeliner. With my blue eyes I feel that this color really accentuates the color of my eye and makes it look bigger. Now I just like bold but if your not into that the other colors in “The Enchanted” palette such as the matte colors are great for those that want a fresh natural look.

I knew I forgot to mention something. The palette also comes complete with 2 matte shades and 4 shimmer shades. Like I said one for ech person. What I like to do is use the matte skin tone color as my base and build from there. To me makeup is all about building. You can always add more but it is difficult to take away.
