Stripped back but sultry is a new way to play this February 14th. Modeled on the likes of Alicia Vikander, a golden taupe cream eye shadow dabbed onto the top lid and lower lashes and framed with a black pencil three quarters of the way along the top lash line makes for an eye look that gives just enough shine without looking too OTT.  Finish off with lashings of mascara and a nude lip, this fresh faced look turns heads without the need for red!

Channel Bridget Bardot. Black eyeliner and an easy half-up style makes for the ultimate sexpot look! Trace your top lashes with black liner, flicking the line up ever so slightly once you get to the outer corner, not skipping the bottom lashes. A shimmery nude eye shadow, cream or powder, can then be blended over the lid and up over the brow bone, finishing off with lashes of mascara. Team with fresh skin and a dab of blusher and add a slick of sheer nude gloss to create the illusion of fuller lips.

It’s a known fact that when two people fall in love it may well have to do with scent. And the sales records are there to show that love doesn’t go only through one’s stomach, but also through one’s nose. The business sector of body care and beauty products alone can boast with turnover of approximately 62.46 billion U.S. dollars every year, and that only in the United States. Perfume is the queen of all gifts. However, in order to choose the best scent for your beloved, you should always consider their personality and style. Fresh scent creations are better suited for athletic personalities, while subtle, flowery scents are often a wonderful fit for romantic-playful types.

You can never go wrong with the classic reds on Valentine’s day. Teaming lips and nails makes for an alluring and co-ordinated look that will go with almost any outfit. To avoid makeup overkill, opt for a fresh face and just a slick of eyeliner to compliment your lip look.

Defend your hair in this brutal cold weather with Maple Holistics Silk 18

This past month, the weather has been brutal. I’m have a difficult time with extremely dry skin but even a bigger problem with my hair. My hair is very dry, right down to my scalp. When my hair is dry, my curls don’t curl and I have to pin my hair up. My scalp is itchy and I’m very uncomfortable. I use a variety of different hair conditioners but I found an amazing one that works very well and offers extra softness to my hair that other conditioners do not.

Maple Holistics Silk 18, is a natural Hair conditioner formulated for all hair types especially my hair type “dry, damaged, curly and color treated hair”.  The glycerin in this conditioner does a great job hydrating my hair and reducing my dry itchy & flaky scalp.  Maple Holistics Silk 18  contains “18 Silk Amino Acids for Soft Beautiful Hair and Strong Thick Hair Growth”. You can definitely notice the softness and moisture in your hair and scalp as you only need a small amount to do the trick.

Maple Holistics Silk 18 is Sulfate Free, paraben free silicon free and cruelty free.

The following properties in Maple Holistics Silk 18  make this conditioner a must have.

The Keratin in Silk 18 provides Therapeutic Pro-Vitamins and is antioxidant rich. Silk 18 smooths split ends and moisturizes dry hair.

Aloe Vera,  Green Tea,  Jojoba Oil and Sea Buckthorn work together to strengthen hair. The Shea Butter leaves straight wavy or curly hair softer smoother & shinier.

One of my favorite features is the detangling feature, especially if you have curly hair. Silk 18 is hypoallergenic and can be used by both men and women and even kids. Even the bottle is eco friendly.  Learn more about Maple Holistics and there products at MapleHolistics.com

Expert Tips: Do You Need to Vet Your Valentine?

This Valentine’s Day—before looking for the perfect gift or planning a romantic date—ask yourself an important but often overlooked question: Is my valentine a criminal?

It’s easy to get caught up in the emotions of love, or perceived love. But doing so can have potentially dangerous consequences. As an example, here is the story of one online dater who believed she had found the man of her dreams, when in fact she had found a monster. It turned out that he was a felon who had seduced, swindled and terrorized multiple women, many of whom he had met on online dating sites. With drug charges, gun charges, and restraining orders, one detective called him “a ticking bomb, capable of unpredictable violence.”

To ensure you don’t end up in a similar situation, do your own due diligence in discovering everything you should know about the person you’re dating. Keep in mind that online dating sites do not vet their members. Here are five ways to vet your valentine:

1. Do A Reverse Image Search
Don’t wait until you’re emotionally invested in your valentine to do a reverse image search of this person’s dating pictures. At the influence of someone at work who told her “the guy doesn’t want to meet you … maybe it’s not even him,” one online dater we wrote about uploaded her crush’s photo to a reverse image search and discovered social media accounts belonging to another man. She confronted her online crush and demanded an explanation, but this “catfish” continued to deny he was pretending to be someone else.

2. Check For Mutual Friends
Is your online dating match friends with anyone you know? If so, asking this person his or her opinion of your match can potentially give you a better idea of who this person really is. To discover mutual friends, check out the social media profiles of your match. Ask those people their opinion of your crush. You never know what stories might be shared.

3. Keep To Communicating Via The Dating App
If someone asks you to take your communications outside the dating app, pause. That could be a red flag. Online dating scammers use this tactic to distance themselves from the dating site and therefore links to his or her crime. Knowing that it’s more unlikely that you’ll report suspicious activity or abuse if you don’t communicate via the dating site, a scammer might make an excuse like, “My membership is almost expired. Why don’t we talk via text?”

4. Do A Background Check
A background checking service such as BeenVerified is a valuable tool that can potentially help you learn more about the background of someone you met via online dating. You can potentially verify his or her identity, discover social networks, check their criminal history, marital status, and more.

5. Trust Your Instinct
One powerful tool is your instinct. If at any point your instincts kick into gear and you don’t feel right about something this person is saying, you’re probably right. Don’t just take your valentine’s word for it. Ask questions and see how he or she reacts. If this person is having a hard time giving straight answers or provides only vague answers, you might be dealing with a catfish or a disingenuous person. And if your valentine doesn’t want to meet in person at all, consider this a reason a find another one, as this is another telltale sign of a scammer. Stay safe this Valentine’s Day by getting to the heart of who your valentine really is.

Beauty Tips for Removing and Preventing Blackheads

Do you look in the mirror and see those unwanted blackheads on your nose or chin?  If so, worry not, you are just like most people in the world. Even celebrities have to deal with these showing up on their skin. There are many ‘at home’ remedies you can try before splurging on a facial to get rid of them.  However, using a blackhead remosalonprices.com, val tool such as a face steamer is generally worth it, since it’s a one-time cost that will allow you to have clear skin forever.  Before you begin, the one rule you must follow is to not squeeze the blackheads.  This could cause scarring, infection, or inflammation.1.

  1. Use a Face Steamer

The best way to remove blackheads is to use a face steamer every few days or when blackheads become visible.  This method can be used on the entire face and allows blackheads to             slip out of the skin naturally, painlessly, and with no chance of infection or scarring.  While this is an expensive item, it works incredibly well, lasts for years, and will put an end to               blackheads once and for all.

      2.  Exfoliate with Baking Soda

Baking Soda has a number of surprising uses, including some that focus on personal health and beauty. One of the uses is by creating a natural method for exfoliating skin.  It is also           often used in a salon for microdermabrasion treatments.  Mix the water and baking soda together to create a paste and put it onto your skin. You can use this as a scrubbing paste to           open your pores and clear away the blackheads.

       3. Pore Strips

You can use homemade or store bought pore strips to put onto your nose.  However, these only give an immediate result in your skin, not one that will further prevent more from                 occurring in the future.  For that, you would need a preventative measure, which you can read on to find out about!  Pore strips can be expensive if purchased online or in stores –               however, they are relatively easy to make at home for next to nothing.

       4. Salicylic Acid

In order to break down the oil trapped inside your pores, you need to use a beta-hydoxy acid, or salicylic.  You can find these in peels or masks. It will work to dissolve any build up in         your pores.  By using this consistently, you can prevent them from forming again.

If you have the urge to splurge, you should treat yourself to a microdermabrasion treatment.  This treatment will exfoliate your skin leaving it looking radiant. However, the results are not permanent.

How to Prevent Blackheads

Now that you know how to get rid of them, in the future, you want to try to prevent them from ever coming back.  There are a few ways you can try and avoid having them resurface.  First and foremost, try not to wear too much make-up.  Keeping your face relatively clean will prevent build up and your pores from being clogged.  It also helps to focus on preparing your own healthy foods at home, or making sure to eat out at places that serve natural and healthy foods, such as various soups and salads.

Whether you wear make-up and need to clean it off, or you are just washing up before bed, make sure to wash your face with gentle cleansers. You do not want a product that will make your skin produce more oil, which would then create blackheads.  Wash your face with a natural cleanser. A trick of the trade to help keep off any leftover dirt and tighten up your pores is by using witch hazel before putting on a moisturizer. Now that your face is clean, make sure to wash your pillowcases weekly, in order to clean off any oils you may have left behind or dead skin.

Besides these preventative measures, you can also use a facial steamer every few weeks; create your own natural cleansing method and facial mask.  Additionally, throughout the day, dab your face with a paper towel to soak up any oil – to keep your pores from clogging up!

Believe in Yourself, is donating dresses in LA

The Charity called Believe in Yourself (we have written about this wonderful charity before) will be coming to Los Angeles for the first time and donating brand new ” in style” dresses to girls in the LA  area to wear to their upcoming school Valentine’s Day dances.

The founder of UsTrendy, the world’s largest Independent Fashion ecommerce site started the foundation one year ago. He recently launched a site for the foundation: www.believeinyourself.org

Some of the objectives of this charity is to combat the financial pressures that are felt on low income girls and their families to continuously stay in style and purchase new items each season along with promote positive body image and fight cyber bullying.

One of the foundation’s activities is donating dresses to underprivileged girls. “We have already provided dresses to girls to wear to school dances and similar events in various states. The girls will be registered in our system and receive dresses all through out the school year for various special occasions,” says Founder Sam Sisakhti. Future dress donations will be tied to the girls’ progress in achieving goals, whether towards improving their academics or pursuing an extracurricular interest such as music, dance, sports. Each girl who wants to receive a dress is entered into a system where they are then tracked to see their progress, whether towards improving their academics or pursuing an extracurricular interest.

Believe in Yourself is part of a broader initiative. The charity brings in Mentors and speakers to motivate the girls to believe in themselves. These mentors also provide tips if the girls are experiencing a negative body image or bullying of any kind, and they counsel the girls to help them achieve their dreams and goals.

Check the website for info about the upcoming and past events.

14 SMART SKINCARE HACKS FOR GYM RATS

www.skinandlasers.com

  1. Use disposable body wipes or medicated/herbal wet tissues right after a workout. This will help in removing excess oil from your skin.
  2. Always carry a small towel with you to wipe the excess sweat.
  3. Avoid touching your facewith bare hands to keep bacterial infections and acne at bay.
  4. Use afoot deodorizer to clean your feet after a heavy workout.
  5. Skip the tanning bed. It’s harmful to your skin, in so many ways. There’s also the range of cosmetic skin concerns, like wrinkles and sun spots. Opt for a self-tanning lotion or simply working out outdoors with SPF will give you a natural glow.
  6. BYOT (Bring Your Own Towel!)If you opt for a gym washroom for a shower, be careful of the towels and cleansing products you use. Do not use towels already used by someone. The sweat of other people can cause acne on your skin. Cleaning your skin should be hygienic.
  7. Wear fresh clothes after showering. Also, avoid wearing gym clothes after washing yourself clean. Gym clothes will be sweaty and grimy; they may cause acne and other skin related problems.
  8. Avoid close contact.Other people’s sweat may also cause skin acne, pimples and other related problems. That hug to your trainer or gym buddy can end up triggering a breakout.
  9. Skip the hot water.Sure, your muscles are sore, and you’re in the mood for a hot shower after a workout. Hot water strips skin of vital oils, leaving you with dry, itchy, dull skin.
  10. Reduce the redness.Calm down a flushed face with your own redness control remedy made up of a little bit of iced green tea and a spray bottle. You’ll cool down your skin and add in a few extra anti-oxidants in the process.
  11. Rehydrate your skin.  After enduring a good workout and cleanse, it’s critical to re-establish the natural moisture and oils that have been removed from your skin.  When it comes to your face, you really should invest in a high quality, fast-absorbing, nutrient-rich product that includes vitamins A and E and the super-ingredient hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring compound that is expert at restoring moisture to your skin and has also been shown to stimulate collagen production. If you’ve been exercising outdoors, a moisturizer with anti-oxidant ingredients is important to help repair damage caused by UV exposure and other environmental factors.
  12. Go bare. Morning gym people there’s no need to apply make-up. If you work out after work consider taking a face-wipe to remove dirt, make-up which may blend with sweat triggering breakouts. You want your skin to be able to breathe while you’re working out.
  13. Wear a hairband.Hair should always be pulled back from your face, not only because of sweat, but because of your hair products, too. If you are seeing breakouts on your forehead or hairline, mousses, gels, or other hair products could be to blame. An elastic headband worn behind the ears about an inch from the hairline keeps stray hairs off the face.
  14. Wear gloves when working out.In addition to protecting hands from rough calluses, gloves also prevent the transmission of bacteria and viruses like warts and staphylococcus bacteria; which can cause impetigo. Impetigo is a common skin infection that can be easily transmitted at the gym and result in blisters and sores. If you choose not to wear gloves during a work-out, disinfect your equipment with a wipe or spray.
