7 essential accessories to pack for your travels

Travel is one of life’s greatest pleasures. However, it’s not without its stresses – most notably, deciding what to pack.

Without the perfect selection of accessories in your suitcase, you’ll be poorly prepared for your trip and more likely to run into problems.

So for those of you facing packing perils, here are seven essential accessories to pack for your travels.

  • Packing cubes

No matter how hard we try to pack light, we always end up with messy bags that are practically bursting at the seams. Enter packing cubes – they make packing and unpacking a much tidier job by allowing you do divide your bag into neat and orderly sections and collate certain belongings so that they’re easier to find.

  • Microfiber towel

Some accommodations don’t provide towels or even charge you for the luxury. It’s therefore worth getting a small microfiber towel from an outdoor equipment store such as Mountain Warehouse – it’s durable, multifunctional and the material dries super-fast.

  • Power bank

When you’re busy snapping pics and selfies, your phone will quickly run low on juice. So pack a power bank and save yourself the hassle of trying to track down a plug socket whilst you’re on the move. You should opt for a lightweight portable product that can fit in your pocket, so you can travel light and benefit from more space for other important accessories.

  • Travel bottles

When it comes to your moisturizers, shampoos and foundation, don’t waste your time looking for miniatures – they’re a rip off. It’s better to buy some travel size bottles (100ml or less) and fill these up from the full-size products you already have.

  • Filter water bottle

Whether you’re travelling to a tropical island or a wintry resort, dehydration is always a risk. So consider investing in a LifeStraw filter water bottle. These fantastic products remove bacteria, parasites and microplastics from water, whilst retaining essential minerals so you can enjoy safe and nice tasting water wherever your travels take you.

  • Travel pillow

Posture is everything during a long-haul flight. Spend too long sat slumped and you could end up suffering from a load of aches and pains that spoil your travels. So get yourself a travel pillow to support you neck and help you sit comfortably and correctly during your flight.

  • Eye mask

When you’re constantly on the move, finding time to get some good sleep can be difficult. So get yourself a high-quality eye mask which blocks out light,  then you’ll quickly drift off quickly and grab some shut eye whenever an opportunity arises.

 Traveling to the airport

Don’t risk your accessories and other precious pieces getting damaged on your way to airport by travelling on overcrowded public transport. They’ll  be far more safe and secure in the boot of your car. So drive to the airport instead – you can use Looking4.com to find parking deals for US airports  from Ontario to Orlando.

With your transport sorted, purchase these seven fabulous accessories, start packing and get ready for some wonderful travel adventures.

What are your must-pack accessories for travel? Let us know in the comments section.

Shifting to Natural Hair Care? Here’s What to Expect

natural hair

Natural hair products are growing in popularity in recent years. Although it is not a trend that is limited only to hair care, it seems “organic” and “natural” are the buzzwords of today.  You attach them to any brand to appeal to a specific demographic.

But it is not merely your perception that more and more people are buying Natural Hair Care products. The numbers could not be denied.

For instance, estimates revealed that the organic care market, which includes hair care, skincare, and cosmetics, is projected to reach $25 billion by 2025. The industry was worth $13.3 billion in 2018 but has a compound annual growth rate of 9.4%.

What to Expect When You Go Natural

Those who are used to using harsh synthetic chemicals on their shampoos, however, will experience a bit of a culture shock when they switch to Natural Hair Care.

For one, you can expect to find fewer suds and foam in natural shampoo products. In synthetic products, you will find a compound called sodium lauryl sulfate, a known surfactant that is also found in toothpaste. Another similar compound you will see is sodium laureth sulfate. But the problem is that surfactants also pose some health risks.

Natural Hair Care products have chucked these synthetic chemicals, which also means less lather.

Another thing to expect is that your hair may feel heavier, and it seems to have more oil than usual. But it is natural, especially if your hair and scalp are still adjusting to the new product. To avoid this, you need to rinse your hair thoroughly to take out any residue. Once your system has adjusted, however, you will discover that your scalp has less oil, which minimizes the occurrence of dandruff, and your hair becomes fuller.

Synthetic shampoos contain silicone, which provides your hair with that artificial sheen. However, silicone is similar to wax in the sense that it coats your follicles. It can build up on your pores and prevent hair growth. It is the reason why your hair feels thicker and fuller when you make the switch to Natural Hair Care.

When you take out silicone from your hair care regimen, you will notice that your hair feels sticky or matted. Do not worry. It is the natural process of eliminating silicone from your hair. It will only last for a short time, depending on the buildup of wax on your hair.

Most natural hair care manufacturers recommend that you shampoo twice, at least during the initial stages of the transition. For those who want more lather out of their shampoos, this would be the method they should follow. First, they put the product on their hair and rinse thoroughly. Then they repeat the process the second time, where they will notice more suds. Wash all the residues out since they will weigh down your hair.

The crucial thing is to commit to the transition. Some people give up in the first few days without giving it a chance. You must remember that you have been using these harsh chemicals on your hair all your life. The natural hair care products are trying to undo the harm and allowing your hair to recover, so you must give it a few days.

The Benefits of Sitting Up While Shaping Brows

“There’s a secret to waxing eyebrows that’s a big factor in cultivating symmetrical frames that highlight eyes,” says Boom Boom, owner of Boom Boom Brow Bar, and it’s about sitting up!

The difference between shaping a good brow and a GREAT brow is positioning.  “If you’re just starting out, it will make all the difference in creating predictable results and growing your confidence.  And if you’re an old pro, it will help finesse your sculpting and change the way you see brows,” she explains.  Most people shape eyebrows while a guest is lying down; hence all those thin brows, but the fuller frames everyone wants today require a different approach to preserve their length and width.  When someone is lying down, their facial muscles relax, gravity takes its toll and features become distorted, which makes it harder to create a shape that will ultimately look good when standing up.

Shaping brows sitting up allows a professional to assess eyebrows in their natural state – the way others see them and the way they look when viewed in a mirror.  It allows one to shape symmetrical arches and better judge where brows should begin and end in relation to the other features on the face, which helps to make them proportionate.  Plus, it allows for better accessing of where the arch should peak as well.

Now that brows are a part of most women’s (and men’s) regular beauty routines, shaping them should be affordable and convenient.  At Boom Boom Brow Bar, guests walk in at their own convenience and sit for 10 minutes to take care of business.  No scheduling and rescheduling of appointments and no laying down in a back room, that’s so old school and takes too much time.

TIP: To keep brows looking polished at all times, get them sculpted once a month.

4 Most Common Myths about Hair Transplantation

Today, hair transplantation is among the most undergone and life-changing therapies, and all thanks to the improved methods and techniques. But they are also one of the most misunderstood. Still, people are very skeptical when it comes to going through the procedure. It is because several myths are infrequently talked about this surgery in particular. If you are thinking of getting the surgery done and want to knowabout the actual facts, then we have got you covered. All you need to do to get your answers is to read this article till the end.

Transplanted Hair Lasts Forever

One of the most common myths revolving around is that transplanted moved during the surgery last forever. In reality, most hairs that are transplanted during a hair transplant procedure generally remain in their new location permanently. There can be a lot of reasons why transplanted hair doesn’t always last forever. However, anyone who has undergone the process will tell you that most will stay, but not all.

Hair Transplants are Apparent

Many people still believe that transplanted hair looks fake and visible, which is not right, of course. This was a time when you could tell that one has gone through the procedure, but today, with the advancements in methods and techniques, nobody can actually tell if someone had surgery or not. Since hair transplants involve removing your own hair from the donor area and then transplanting them to the affected area, the results are better and natural. But to really achieve natural results, you need to get your procedure done from a reputed clinic such as a hair transplant in Beverly Hills

Hair Transplants are Painful and Dangerous

As compared to other aesthetic surgical procedures, hair transplant surgery has a lower complication rate. Modern cutting edge technology has not only made the hair transplant safe, but also it has lessened the pain or discomfort. Generally, it is considered reliable, but risks such as infection, bleeding, and some scarring may include that are not severe. In addition to this, patchy hair growth can often be corrected as well. When it comes to the recovery period, there is almost no recovery period, and you can get back to your normal day-to-day life within a few days after the procedure.

It Gives You Immediate Results

It is another one of the most common misconceptions, and most people think that they would get results right after going through the procedure. Of course, it is not valid. So, the question is, when do patients see the results? Typically, most individuals see good results between six and nine months after surgery. Whereas, for many people, it can take up to 12 months. It is essential to know that the transplanted hair will fall out between two and eight weeks after the surgery, which is normal. After the third month, the hair may look thinner than before you had the surgery, which is again normal. So, don’t get worried if you don’t see results within a few weeks because it could take you up to 12 months, as mentioned before.

How to Keep Your Roller Blinds Clean?

Window blinds can harbor dust and dirt from the outside. Keeping them clean regularly is a tough job. You must sanitize your blinds to maintain their neat look and prevent any health issues due to the dust particles. Furthermore, it makes their useful life longer and avoids discoloration on their surfaces.

Whether you have US-made windows, Gold Coast shutters, or European window vinyl at home, you may clean them using these two ways. First, you can do a combination of vacuum and wipe. Second, you may clean it via vacuum and bathtub. To know the rest of the details, let’s begin, shall we?

The Vacuum and Wiping Method

  1. Extend the length and Use a Brush Tool Vacuum

Start cleaning your window blinds by pulling them down and leave them fully extended. Thereafter, obtain a brush tool and attach it to your vacuum cleaner. You can start using the brush from left to right and vice versa.

Removing the dirt and dust using a vacuum or a dry cloth is the best thing to do as the first step. When these particles mixed with water, they’ve become muddy or messy on the surface. That’s why it’s better to clean it dry first then after, you can wipe it with a damp cloth.

  1. Mix a Mild Detergent in a Lukewarm Water

Instead of pouring chemicals, you must use a mild soap or detergent. Mix it with lukewarm water for disinfecting purposes. Make sure it is not too hot so that it won’t cause any damage to the slats.

Estimate the detergent that you need to put on the water, it depends on how many are your windows at home. Also, you must consider the accumulation of dust and dirt as well. If the impure areas are too thick to remove, you might wipe the windows two times with detergent and water.

  1. Soak the Sponge or Delicate Towel and Start Wiping

Use a sponge or a delicate towel in your window blinds. Just make sure to squeeze them tightly so that the water will be drained properly, and it will not turn sudsy. A damp cloth or sponge is adequate to remove the stains and dirt.

Wipe your window from left to right as well as front and back. You may also use a ruler and cover it with a towel so that you can able to clean each of its narrow slats.

  1. Rinse the Sponge with Water and Wipe for the Second Time

After wiping your window blinds with soap and water, it is now time to wipe them with just plain water. It is important to remove the residue of the soap on the surfaces.

In this way, it won’t solidify and make their appearance look blurry or creates a rough texture on the surface. Wipe the surfaces using plain water to rinse any soapy residue on the window surfaces.

  1. Dry Up the Blinds and Leave them Fully Extended

You must use a dry cloth or sponge to wipe the slate and surfaces. Thereafter, leave them fully extended so that it will dry up easily. You may also use an electric fan to make the remaining water residue evaporate.

Wash the Blinds Using Vacuum and Bathtub

  1. Detach the Blinds and Use a Brush Vacuum Tool

If you prefer using a bathtub, that is also a great way to clean your window blinds. To do this first step, you’ll need to detach them first and place it on top of the table or floor. Make sure to cover the surface with newspaper or any old stationeries to hold the dust and dirt. You can use a brush vacuum tool to absorb the dust particles. You may also use a paintbrush to sweep the dirt.

Fill up the Tub Water and Mild Detergent then Start the Gentle Scrubbing

Fill up the bathtub with lukewarm water and pour a mild detergent for sanitation and fragrance purposes. You can submerge window blinds and soak it for around 2 to 3 hours.

After soaking it for a few hours, you can use a sponge or a cloth to gently wipe the window slats in a left to right motion and vice versa. Don’t forget to wipe the front and back as well.

  1. Rinse the Blinds with Plain Water and Drain the Tub

After wiping the blinds with detergent and lukewarm water, make sure to drain the soapy water and replace it with a plain one. Rinse the blinds to remove any detergent that solidifies on the window slats. Moreover, it will not cause the blinds to look blurred and rough on their texture.

  1. Hang the Blinds Outside to Dry Up

If you have a curtain rod at home, you can hang them outside during sunny days. However, you should not prolong them under the heat of the sun so that it won’t cause any damage to your blinds.

If you don’t want to hang them outside, you may wipe them with a dry sponge or cloth. Thereafter, hang them indoor using your curtain rod. You may also use an electric fan to dry up the water residue quickly.

Which of the two cleaning methods do you prefer?

It may take a few hours of the day to clean up some window blinds. If you’re just maintaining dust-free windows, you may do this cleaning weekly. However, if you need to soak them, sanitize, and disinfect them, you may do this cleaning on a monthly or every after 2 months.

Cleaning your windows does not only make your surrounding dust-free and neat but also, it prevents any health associated illnesses or even diseases. You may choose any of the methods that fit your schedule.

Short Hairstyles for Women Over 60 To Transform Your Looks

Looking for the best short hairstyles for women over 60? Here is a classic collection for your consideration.

(Image: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bzp9C51lE8c/)

Some people have an informed view about short hairstyles for women over 60. They think these hairstyles are boring and out-of-date. But that is not always the case. In fact, hairstyles for older women can be charming and worn even by the young generation.

The best thing is that there is a myriad of ways older people can choose to wear these hairstyles depending on their preferences and the event they are attending. They can go with the trend or opt for something standard and not mainstream. Have a look at these top short hairstyles for women over 60 and be inspired. It is your time to rock!

  • Blonde Bob and Tossed Layers.

If you need to make your hair lively, then you should opt for layers to achieve that. For older women, a cropped haircut with soft layers is the recommended style option that is also effortless to keep. And for the blondes out there, incorporate some subtle blonde highlights for some extra dimension and hair fullness.

  • Choppy Pixie for Older Women with Thick Hair.

Most hairstyles for women are usually short haircuts, and in this case, the best short haircut is the chopped pixie cut. This haircut is preferred because you can not only wear it with thick hair, but also thin hair. To achieve this look, tell your stylist to cut layers into the cut, to make your thick hair fall seamlessly and smoothly.

(Image: https://www.instagram.com/p/BzDxJdsBLDS/)

  • Short Layered Haircut and Balayage Highlights.

Want to change your boring, mono-coloured shade? Take things to the next level by including subtle balayage highlights. If your hair is short and curly, choose tapered and mixed layers that enhance volume in a managed way. Including various layers helps to show off different hues and give the entire style a beautiful cut.

  • White Short Haircut and Asymmetrical Bangs.

Most hairstyles for women usually focus on revealing their beautiful face and working with the colour of the hair older women have. The best hairstyle shouldn’t work to change what you have, but instead, it should improve it. The graduated bangs in this haircut draw attention to the gorgeous eyes, and the wispy layers enhance a lift around the crown.

  • Blonde Layered Haircut.

Short hairstyles for women over 60 can be ridiculously versatile and effortless to play around with. A simple bob haircut with stacked layers gives any style a lively look. If you need to include even more depth to your hair, opt for a darker colour of blonde. Maintain the lightest colour for the top layers.

(Image:  https://www.instagram.com/p/ByiiD1LgYt-/)

  • Blonde Bob and Angled Layers.

Who said thin hair should always be flat and dull? It is simple to give it some life by making it angled by adding wispy layers that fall asymmetrical around the crown. The light-blonde shade looks natural and performs an excellent job of maintaining a vibrant and youthful look.

  • Sweet Curly Bob.

Simply because you are not in your thirties, doesn’t imply that you shouldn’t wear sexy hairstyles. Curls are the best way to brighten hairstyles for women. To achieve this, you need to utilise hot rollers to come up with sleek curls that best complement your cropped haircut.

  • Black and Silver Tapered Pixie.

With so many hairstyles for women over 60, you really have many choices to experiment with, especially when it comes to colours. If you need to try the grey, you can choose the pepper and salt look. However, for the black and silver look, take the shade as an ombre technique, maintaining the lighter colours at the top and then fading it into grey. Almost black manes at the back of the neck is an excellent ombre idea for ladies with short hair.

  • Shoulder Length Haircut and Light Layers.

Styling short haircuts for women over 50 is not always like taking a walk in the park since as you age, hair tends to thin out. However, if you choose the right cut, you will be able to maintain the fullness of your hair. Maintain your hair shoulder length and do not trim your hair in more than two varying levels of layers. This keeps the movement and fullness of your hair.
