Build Your Self-Confidence Because You Deserve It

We all have a complicated relationship with ourselves, and there will be times in everyone’s life when they do not feel as though they are attractive. Often, a few small elements of our looks can become very real hang-ups and before we know it we have become consumed by negative emotions and as such as will struggle to find anything we like in ourselves anymore. There may have been a trigger, or it could be a natural low sense of self-esteem, but having a lack of confidence in our appearances can have a huge knock-on effect to other areas of our lives and can make us terribly depressed and insecure. 

There are many ways of combating these feelings and training our minds to overcome feelings that make us feel so bad about ourselves. Here are a few things that you could look at. 

Treat Yourself To A Makeover

Whatever the major area of your face or body is that is making you feel the worst, focus on looking after that specific area. If you’re feeling bad about your skin, give it a lift, Use collagen or put a face mask on and help yourself to create clearer skin that has fewer blemishes or wrinkles.

Go to a hairdresser and get a style that will help you to feel much better about yourself. There are ways that you can change your external appearance to help to give yourself that confidence boost that you need, and there is no harm in trying to do this. 

If the idea of going out and getting treatment from a professional scares you, think about getting a friend that you trust to help you, or practice doing your makeup yourself. Be patient with yourself and don’t feel as though you are doing this for anyone but yourself. If you’re not happy, rub it off and start again. 

Retrain Your Negative Thoughts

Generally, if you are feeling as though you have a lack of self- confidence then the things that you are concerned about in your appearance will not necessarily actually be a problem. You may think that people can see these bad things about you and that they will judge you for it. Very often, these things may not even be noticed that much. Or negative mind will cling to these negative feelings and it can leave us fixated and unable to see anything else. 

There are probably a great number of things that you do like about yourself, but through the negativity, you will not see them anymore. Try and remind yourself of the bits of you that like or think may be attractive. Focus your attention on these parts of your face or body and tell yourself out loud how beautiful they are. Find ways to dress or wear your hair and makeup that will accentuate these aspects of yourself. Owning the parts of yourself that you are proud of will make you feel a lot more positive overall.
