Six American Celebrities who benefit from CBD

If you love using CBD for the myriad of benefits it brings to you, you’re not alone. There are people all over the USA who swear by CBD products including some of your favorite celebrities. Even despite the huge stigma dealt to cannabis during prohibition, some of the most respected and successful musicians, scientists, politicians and athletes continued to use cannabis and its derivatives. And many of them weren’t ashamed to admit it – like Carl Sagan, Snoop Dogg and Bob Marley circa 1990s.

We’re slowly moving past all of that social stigma, thanks to the leaps and bounds the cannabis industry has taken in the last few years. And now, since the 2018 Farm Bill, virtually all hemp-derived CBD products are legal in the USA. More people than ever are now exposed to the varied health benefits that CBD brings to the table. And thanks to the legalization movement, it’s safer than ever to use cannabis products in the United States.

Whoopi Goldberg

Let’s start with our favorite Sister Act actress, although that’s not all she’s famous for. Whoopi Goldberg has always been a much loved American comedian, actress, and singer. When cannabis first took off in the USA, Goldberg advocated and said she used it to treat her glaucoma and deal with menstrual pain. In fact, her love for the herb led her to start a business with Maya Elisabeth which they called Whoopi & Maya. Products were targeted towards women and their womanly problems such as menstrual cramping. Their product list includes chocolates, tinctures, balms, and bath products.

Michael J Fox

Michael J Fox played the leading role in what is arguably the greatest film trilogy of all time, although some Star Wars and Lord of the Rings fanatics might have something to say about that. Back To The Future was arguably the climax of Michael J Fox’s career, after which he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Fox uses CBD products to manage some of his symptoms which became so severe, he more or less had to quit acting.

Nate Diaz

Nate Diaz, famous for two things: a laundry list of MMA and UFC championships and a deep love for CBD and the ways in which it helps him be a better professional fighter. He’s not shy in a fighting ring and he’s definitely not shy outside of it, flashing his CBD vape pen at a post-match press conference after losing to Conor McGregor. He publicly admits to the ways that CBD helps him recover after hard training or a hard fight, to get a better nights sleep and to reduce the effect of injuries.

Morgan Freeman

The hero of many old and new films, and the voice of many much loved characters, Morgan Freeman has pushed for cannabis legalization since the idea was just in its conception. In 2008 Morgan Freeman was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and experiences long, strong bouts of chronic pain. He says that the only thing that gives him any relief is a cannabis-based medicine. He believes strongly in the power of cannabis-based medicines and the relief that they can bring to many around the USA.

Melissa Etheridge

Melissa Etheridge, singer-songwriter and winner of two Grammy Awards since the advent of her music career in 1988, has used CBD as a complementary treatment during cancer treatment. In 2004, Etheridge was diagnosed with breast cancer, after which she sought chemotherapy and other traditional treatments. As a means of dealing with some of the negative side effects of chemotherapy and cancer treatment, she turned to CBD. She claims that it helped her deal with some of the pain and discomfort of cancer therapy. She has since made a full recovery from breast cancer, but still advocates for CBD.

Tommy Chong

Tommy Chong is perhaps the most famous cannabis advocate of all time, playing one-half of the major roles in Cheech & Chong, a film essentially about stoners. But Chong doesn’t just advocate for the recreational aspect of cannabis. In his own words, he “kicked cancer’s arse” thanks to CBD products. It was prostate cancer that maladies Tommy Chong after he was diagnosed in 2012. All his life, cannabis was a matter of personal necessity and that continued after his diagnosis. Until now, Tommy Chong remains one of the most vocal cannabis advocates of the USA.

We’re not so different from our famous friends, are we? Celebrities are, after all, people. People who are affected by diseases, by stress, and by the overwhelming need to legalize cannabis! It’s important to have influential people to support a movement as controversial and as rapidly moving as cannabis. Once upon a time, celebrities had to risk their appeal by admitting to cannabis use. Now, it’s part of modern-day activism for celebrities to fight alongside regular citizens for the legalization of cannabis!
