Celebrity Makeup Artist Matin Maulawizada worked with winner Maura Tierney from The Affair for tonight’s Golden Globes. Below is how to get the look from Matin.

Matin’s Inspiration: Late 60’s glam.

 

Skin: I prepped her skin by using Jurlique Skin Balancing Face Oil all over her face and body and Talika eye patches while she was getting her hair done. I then followed that with Avon ANEW Power Serum and Avon ANEW Ultimate Multi-Performance Eye System follow by Laura Mercier primer and Orlane lip balm to moisturize and prep her lips.
Face: I tanned her up a couple of shades darker by using Avon Ideal Flawless Invisible Coverage Liquid Foundation in Soft Honey. For the cheeks I brightened her up with Avon Ideal Luminous Blush in Warm Flush and used Avon Glow Bronzing Pearls on high points of her face for further glow and tan.

 

Eyes: I lined her eyes with Avon Mega Effects Liquid Eye Liner in Black and a mix of #3 shadows from Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Warm Sunrise and Gilded Metallics. I finished off the eyes with Avon Big & False Lash Volume Mascara. For her brows, I used the Avon Perfect Eyebrow Kit in Soft Brown.

 

Lips: I wanted to give her a dramatic pale lip so I used the Avon Glimmersticks Lip Liner in Nude with Avon True Color Perfectly Matte Lipstick in Perfectly Nude.

DIY on the Fly by Julee Ireland - Multi-Use Tiered Jewelry and/or Serving Tray

 

DIY on the Fly by Julee Ireland – Multi-Use Tiered Jewelry and/or Serving Tray

Supplies: Three plates (glass, china or plastic) or two plates and one small bowl in varied sizes, shapes and color
that appeal to you. Two small candlesticks that coordinate with your plates or your plates and bowl. Heavy-duty
glue gun.

Step One: Start by putting your largest plate on the bottom and use your glue gun to glue one candlestick in the
middle of the bottom side of your plate.

(Note: you can also put your plate down and begin by gluing your candlestick in the middle of the top of your plate. Both ways work.)

Step Two: Glue your middle size plate to the top of the candlestick. Now you should have two tiers to your
jewelry/serving tray.

Step Three: Glue your second candlestick to the middle of your plate and then glue your small plate or bowl to
the top of the candlestick to complete your third tier.

Step Four: (Optional) You can glue a small knob or a cut wooden dowel to the center of the top of your small
plate or bowl to use as a ring holder or as a handle to easily rotate your multi-use tiered jewelry and or serving
tray in a circle.

You only need an eyeliner for dramatic eyes

Seven Prints Every Fashion Lover Needs In the Home

If you’re a fashion lover, then you know all about mixing and matching fabrics and prints in your wardrobe. At Modernize, we think that when you’re decorating your home, you should let your love for the fashion world shine, too. Here are seven essential prints every fashion lover should include in his or her home (although maybe not all in the same place).

Geometric

Nothing says fashion like a big, bold geometric print. Bonus points for black and white prints, because we all know that monochrome style isn’t going anywhere any time soon. Geometrics work best on throw blankets and accent cushions, as a bold bedding choice, or even on shower curtains.

If you want to be especially avant garde with your style, choose soft, Eastern inspired florals with pinks and blues; it’s a hot trend coming up next spring.

Stripes

Fortunately for everyone, stripes are never going out of style. How you wear them changes from year to year, of course, and the same can be said for home decor. Wide stripes and chevrons have had their time in the sun, so we have a feeling that thinner stripes are coming back soon. Whichever you prefer, be bold and use stripes as accents throughout your home.

Houndstooth

For those of us whose fashion icons include the likes of Gwen Stefani, houndstooth is already a firm favorite. Although technically a geometric print, this variety gets its own category because of its brazen uniqueness and versatility. Anyone can rock houndstooth if they’re brave enough, so don’t be afraid to reupholster that oversized armchair with a print most of your other friends probably don’t use in their own homes.

At first glance, plaid may seem like a bit of a boring print, but I promise it’s more than wool blankets and ski chalet design. From Scottish tartan to bright, multicolored crosshatches, the modern plaid can match any home’s style. Halting Hackers For The Holidays

October was National Cyber Security Awareness month and during that time, millions of online identities were stolen in America with more than 200 published breaches.

We’re now getting close to 1 billion records of identity theft – more than three times our entire population in the United States.

Nearly two-thirds of Americans have heard, read or seen something about online safety and security issues recently, according to StopThinkConnect.org. Yet consumers also say they don’t take steps to stay safe online because they lack information or knowledge.

So here are my best tips to help you enjoy Black Friday, CyberMonday and the Christmas shopping experience without losing your privacy and identity or putting your children’s safety at risk:

• Change your passwords – all of them. Do it now and do it as frequently as you can tolerate. If you don’t want to change them often, then use any unique characters you can think of, such as a dollar sign ($) or an exclamation mark (!) or replace a letter “O” with a 0 (zero). This goes a long way in preventing brute force attacks against your password. Also, never trust anyone on the phone who asks for your password, especially if they called you. The same holds true with emails. Both the telephone and email are used by people who try to get your password by pretending to be the IRS, your bank or someone else you have an account with.

• Clean up your apps. Assume most of your smartphone or tablet apps are malware that spies on you and your online behavior. Do you really need them? Delete any apps you don’t use often. Replace apps that take advantage of too many of your privacy settings with similar apps that don’t. On an iPhone, you’re not being eavesdropped on until you run the app.

• Shop online only from websites you trust. If you don’t know where the merchant is located, don’t shop online there. If they don’t have a corporate address or are located in another country, it could be iffy whether you ever see the goods you think you purchased. Also, if their shopping-cart experience is not an HTTPS browser session, then everything you type in ¬– your name, address and credit card information – is going over the Internet unencrypted, in plain view.

Never buy online using your credit card on a site that doesn’t have SSL (secure sockets layer) encryption installed. It’s easy to tell you are in a secure, encrypted session. You should see an icon of a locked padlock in your browser and the website URL starts with HTTPS not HTTP. Also, if you receive emails from the merchant, no matter the reason, don’t give them your credit card information over email.

• Don’t use cash or debit cards. You have three major choices when shopping – cash, credit or debit. In rare but growing instances there’s even a fourth option called “Bitcoins,” which are now accepted at some merchants including Overstock.com. Bitcoins could be considered the equivalent to the cash option, because once used, you can’t get them back. So, if you have to choose among these options, the best is the credit card.

Here’s why: If you experience identity theft, credit card laws allow you to keep all of your credit immediately, with no responsibility during an identity theft or fraud investigation. With a debit card, your bank’s policy can be to tie up your money in the amount of the fraudulent transactions for up to 30 days. Some have been known to take up to 60 days to resolve the issue.

• Don’t use public WiFi without using SSL encryption. Public Wifi networks can be a hacker’s dream. If they want, they can see what websites you are visiting and insert malware into your computer or other device. The hacker also has access to any information you are sending out over the Internet, which could include credit card numbers or other critical information.
