Breakdown – Kelsea Ballerini’s ACM Awards Hair How To

Kelsea is wearing a beautiful Saint Laurent dress with a plunging neckline and rhinestone detailing. With the addition of a striking Diamond choker, we wanted to do her hair up to elongate the neck and also differ from her performance look.

We’ve been saying its the queen of the night look since her song just went #1.

For Kelsea’s hair, we decided on a loosely pulled back updo with undone texture. I started by adding a few pumps of a Blow Out Cream to Kelsea’s damp hair to prep for beautiful texture. I rough dried her hair and then added the texture using a 1” Curling Iron.  To add some extra volume, I sprayed a Volume & Lift Spray to the root and added Irresistible Me Clip-In Hair Extensions in #28 Honey Blonde. 

I started by parting the hair 2” from the nape of the neck. Using a teasing comb, I back-combed the root to create a secure hold for the clip-in extensions. Then, I applied the extensions by sliding the teeth of the combs near the root and snapping closed. Using the Curling Iron, I added the texture to the Irresistible Me Extensions by quickly curling, then unwrapping the hair around the wand, and running my fingers through. I continued to add the extensions by parting the hair about every 1” up to the crown. I parted the front of the hair down the center, and placed a few Irresistible Me Clip In Extensions parallel to the part. I then swept a few front pieces behind her ears. I pulled the rest of the hair into a low loop at the nape of her neck. Finally, I sprayed with a Finishing Hairspray.
