butter LONDON + Project Runway Jr. Winning Look | Episode 4, Day to Night

Last week on Project Runway Junior®, Tim Gunn asked the designers to create looks that took their models from day to night using their own unique point of view. The butter LONDON makeup needed to be just as versatile. For the winning look, the show’s Key Makeup Artist, Scott Patric, drew a blended out cat eye for a smoky effect while keeping the rest of the look neutral.

A Tale of Two Eye Creams

I recently had an amazing opportunity to sample two best selling eye creams from Made from Earth Skincare Line. The two creams are Chamomile Eye Therapy ($22.99)* and Somaluxe Stem Cell + Collagen Moisturizer ($54.99)*. Both products were very nice and I enjoyed using them. I would like to share with you my thought regarding both:

 

The two skin care products are very different with only a few similarities; Both are used once a day, morning or night and both the Chamomile Eye Therapy and Somaluxe Stem Cell + Collagen Moisturizer reduce fine lines and wrinkles and improve overall skin tone. There are however, several big differences;

One difference between the two products is that the Chamomile Eye Therapy is designed as a moisturizing eye treatment and Somaluxe Stem Cell + Collagen Moisturizer is designed to be used as an eye treatment as well as a moisturizer for your face and neck. Chamomile Eye Therapy, when used as directed should be used for “5 days, with a break of 2-4 days between applications to allow the skin to naturally heal and support itself.” as stated in the directions. It does state that Chamomile Eye Therapy will not harm your skin if you choose to use it everyday but for optimal results, use for 5 days then take a break for 2 to 4 days. Chamomile Eye Therapy can be used under the eye and on the eye lid. It is formulated with roman chamomile which gently calms the eye area as well as Vitamin C and advanced minerals, helping to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and help with lighteningng dark circles.

Somaluxe Stem Cell + Collagen Moisturizer is formulated with Plant Stem Cells, peptides and Amino Acids. It is designed to stimulate new skin cells, collagen production and skin cell longevity. Included are Peptides and botanicals to soften skin texture and add firmness. Unlike the Chamomile Eye Therapy, Somaluxe Stem Cell + Collagen Moisturizer is recommended for long term use leading to clear, luminous skin and minimizes fine lines and wrinkles over time. Somaluxe Stem Cell + Collagen Moisturizer is gentle and effective enough to be used everyday and you will not have to use additional moisturing. This is one feature that I loved!

I found myelf using Chamomile Eye Therapy for the first 5 days (Monday through Friday) and taking a break over the weekend. There was a short period of time that I had a dry patch on my eyelid and the Chamomile Eye Therapy was a little bit irritating to the area but overall I really did like it.  If I had to choose one, I would go with the Somaluxe Stem Cell + Collagen Moisturizer because I liked the fact that I could apply it to my entire face and neck (the eye area included) as a moisturizer.  If you are just looking for an eye treatment only, then I would recommend Chamomile Eye Therapy. I had good results with both creams.

Another fabulous feature about Made from Earth Skincare is that you will NEVER find harmful ingredients in their products like: Petrochemicals and Phthalates, Parabens (Methyl, Propyl, Butyl), Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate,Diazolidinyl Urea and Mineral Oil and Cosmetic Fragrances.

At Its a Glam Thing we are big fans of Lifetime television! We are so glad to have a new IAGT friend, actress Nikki Leigh. We caught up with Nikki to ask her a few questions about her starring role in the new Lifetime film, Open Marriage which airs this Saturday, January 14th .

Open Marriage is about Becca (Leigh) and Ron, a married couple whose marriage is less than exciting and has been lacking sexual sparks for some time. When their best friends tell them that they are engaging in an open marriage, Becca and Ron’s curiosity leads them to start swinging with their friends. Now that the spark in their marriage has been reignited, it does not come without a cost. Soon their anything goes world is filled with hurt, betrayal and heartache. As their marriage begins totally unravel, a mysterious stalker intervenes with the intent of driving them further apart, ending in bloodshed.

IAGT: Will you tell us a little bit about working on this film?

NL: Working on this film was such a beautiful experience. Director, Sam Irvin was such a pleasure to work with and really knows what he wants and wants to get out of you. Tilky, Jason, Kelly and I grew very close and we each put in a lot of time and effort into this movie. Everyday after we wrapped, we would all continue working by going over to someone’s place and run all the lines and scenes for the next day. The work ethic and amount of care for this film was undeniable and I am super blessed to have worked with actors who shared that.

IAGT: This film has some explicit subject matter. Will you us how you approached the material?

NL: I had so much care for this project and my co-stars so it made it easier to be comfortable with the subject matter. I trusted everyone who was a part of this film so that allowed for a pleasant experience. It could have been a totally different experience had I had a different actor playing my husband. I felt safe exploring the subject and the fact that this is a real situation or option for some couples made me relaxed. It is a serious subject and I give respect to those who are able to try something that might be out of their comfort level in order to save what is really important. As an actress, you have to be able to be in those peoples’ shoes and not come in with judgment.

IAGT: Do you hope women and men like this film and look at it with an open mind?

NL: You have to watch it with no judgment on the subject matter. I hope the women and men who see this film watch it with an open and adventurous mind so that they can really experience it and hopefully re-experience it. Remember that this is a Lifetime film. Many Lifetime films give us the ability to experience the playful, romantic, adventurous, thrilling and edgy sides of life.
