Science That Goes Skin Deep

by Lisa Gal

The number one thing dermatologists recommend to stop the signs of aging before they start is to moisturize! Ok, well maybe that is second to sunscreen, but a well-formulated moisturizer can hydrate, revive dull skin, and rid it of flaking while giving the skin a plumper, smoother appearance. I say that is a win-win. From harsh elements like the heat and cold to hand soap and daily routines that can wreak havoc on our skin, we need a secret weapon in our back pocket. Enter CeraVe. Each skincare product from CeraVe is formulated with ceramides which they say “help maintain and restore the skin’s natural barrier to help lock in moisture and keep irritants out.” With all the hand washing we have been doing this year who couldn’t use a good hand cream on their side!? We are thrilled to include CeraVe‘s Therapeutic Hand Cream in our “Covid-style” Hollywood Swag Bags being direct gifted to the nominees honoring Oscar weekend.

Itchy Skin Ranks Among Americans’ Top Winter Troubles

Survey Reveals Itchy Skin Ranks Among Americans’ Top Winter Troubles

CeraVe® Helps Consumers Find the Winter Itch Fix Their Skin Craves this Season

itchy skin

From ski trips and snowball fights to sweater weather and curling up by the fireplace, the winter season can bring many cherished experiences; but one not-so-pleasant shared winter experience is uncomfortable skin. According to recently released results from a CeraVe® survey conducted online by Harris Poll among 2,000 U.S. adults, 83 percent of Americans say their skin feels different in winter than it does during the rest of the year, with six in 10 going as far as calling it “unhealthy” during the season. With dryness (77 percent) and itchiness (41 percent) ranking among the top skin descriptors during winter, it’s no wonder that Americans are left searching for relief, which is why CeraVe® is helping Americans find their winter itch fix this Winter Skin Relief Day, January 8th.

According to the survey, dryness (69 percent), itchiness (51 percent) and redness (24 percent) are the most bothersome skin discomforts during the colder months. While 79 percent of Americans say their skin feels better after completing their skincare routine, more than one-quarter (26 percent) don’t adapt their routine for the winter months, which board-certified dermatologist Dr. Shari Marchbein considers essential for anyone looking to relieve dry, itchy skin.

CeraV Healing Ointment

“One of the most common concerns I hear from patients during the winter months is itchiness, which is often the result of severely dry skin,” said Dr. Marchbein. “To help combat itchy skin, I always recommend adjusting a regular skincare regimen with richer products, like CeraVe® Healing Ointment and Moisturizing Cream, which offer more intense moisturizing benefits that the skin needs during the colder months.”

CeraV Moisturizing Cream

Although 64 percent of Americans say they are likely to see a dermatologist during the winter, 25 percent don’t use a moisturizer, proving that while Americans want healthier skin, many are not taking the steps needed to achieve it. Still, skipping out on a proper skincare routine isn’t the only winter mishap. The below survey findings reveal people are not mindful of other factors that are troubling their skin, including:

  • Half of Americans (50 percent) admit to taking more hot showers during the winter months, but only one-quarter (25 percent) realize that the hot showers they are taking can contribute to itchy skin.
  • While nearly one-third of Americans (31 percent) acknowledge that clothing material can contribute to itchiness, 19 percent won’t avoid specific clothing materials during the winter, despite the risk of itch.
  • Moreover, 57 percent admit to wearing wool, a material commonly described as itchy, during the winter.

Since dry skin may not be completely avoidable, CeraVe® is here this winter with products that will help fix the itch by rehydrating and protecting the skin’s barrier, while relieving skin from the drying effects of winter.

“The skin is at the forefront of a lot of harsh elements during the winter months and we know people are concerned with the condition of their skin and the discomforts dry skin can ignite,” said Derrick Booker, Vice President of Marketing. “Whether it is a moisturizer for daily use, an ointment or an itch-relief product to intensify a skincare routine, CeraVe® offers a wide range of products that contain three essential ceramides to help seal in moisture and seal out impurities, protecting skin even during the harsh winter conditions.”

CeraVe® offers a wide variety of therapeutic skincare products that are developed with dermatologists and contain an exclusive combination of ceramides 1, 3 and 6-11, which are essential to restoring and maintaining the skin’s natural barrier. CeraVe® products utilize patented Multi Vesicular Emulsion (MVE) Technology, which releases key ingredients into the skin slowly over 24 hours, allowing them to absorb into the skin to repair, restore and retain the skin’s natural barrier.

Once again CeraVe came to our rescue

cerave1

It all started with a simple question from my daughter. “Mom do you have any hand lotion on you?”  “Yes, of course,” I replied, “let me see what I have in my bag.” I had a lovely chocolate scented hand cream, and as she rubbed it onto her hands, they started to burn and turn red. She didn’t realize her hands were slightly crack and quickly ran to the restroom to wash off the hand cream.

I knew what she needed, and our jar of CeraVe Healing Ointment was at home near my bathroom sink. A quick ride to the drugstore to pick up another jar of CeraVe quickly solved all her problems. Now, she has a tub of CeraVe Healing Ointment to take back to school with her. We also picked up a few tubes  of CeraVe so we can carry it in our bags.

CeraVe Healing Ointment quickly coated her dry hands and acted as a great moisturizer. She had immediate relief from the chapped skin on her fingers and hands. CeraVe Healing Ointment is fragrance-free, so there was no stinging. CeraVe Healing Ointment is formulated without  artificial colors, is  paraben-free, Dye-free, Hypoallergenic, Noncomedogenic, Phthalate-free and is Dermatologist Tested…All good stuff!

CeraVe Healing Ointment is not only used for hands but can be used on your entire body. I leave a jar by my bathroom and kitchen sink because my hands are always in water. I find that the CeraVe Healing Ointment acts as a barrier between my skin and the water and this keeps my skin softer and hydrated longer.

One of the great features of CeraVe Healing Ointment is that it is Fast-absorbing. I love CeraVe Healing Ointment. You can use it as a Body Lotion, Diaper Ointment, Foot Lotion, Hand Cream, Lip Balm, Petroleum Jelly and the entire family can enjoy it. What’s not to love.

CeraVe skincare products can be found in most major drugstores such as CVS, Walgreens, and Target.

Get Glam This Holiday Season with CeraVe

NOTHING SAYS “TIS THE SEASON” LIKE HEALTHY LOOKING SKIN (AND SHIMMERING ACCESSORIES!)

The holiday season is upon us and for most people that means a jam-packed calendar. Transitioning from day to night for festive party after party may be required, but it doesn’t have to leave you looking as tired as you may feel. Here are a few tips to help you look your best:

Tip No.1 – Moisturize and Repair

· The foundation of any great look is a healthy looking complexion. Get a head start on your day by maximizing time the night before, when skin is less available to the elements and environment. Apply CeraVe® Skin Renewing Cream Serum and CeraVe® Skin Renewing Night Cream to your face and neck before bed. The products in this duo each help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and repair and restore the skin barrier, so you can wake up to skin that looks refreshed and renewed.

unnamed-20

· CeraVe® Skin Renewing Cream Serum contains an encapsulated 1% retinol and ceramide complex to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles without the harsh effects of most other retinols. CeraVe® Skin Renewing Night Cream was designed to work with the circadian rhythm of your skin to soften and renew the look of tired looking skin overnight. Both contain essential ceramides, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide. They each feature patented MVE® technology to control the release of valuable ingredients into the skin over time.

unnamed-21
Tip No.2 – Exfoliate regularly

Don’t skip exfoliation, it better prepares skin for essential hydration by sloughing off dead skin cells while cleansing. Try CeraVe® Renewing SA Cleanser which contains ceramides, Vitamin D, and salicylic acid (SA) to exfoliate and detoxify to remove dirt and oil, while softening and smoothing skin. Remember, the goal of effective cleansing is to remove dirt, excess oils, and dead skin cells without causing irritation. Unlike many exfoliating cleansers, CeraVe® Renewing SA Cleanser doesn’t contain harsh beads or gains so it gently cleanses and helps restore the skin’s natural barrier

unnamed-19
Tip No.3 – Create an effortlessly beautiful hairstyle
· A smooth ponytail is an easy, yet chic work and party appropriate style. To ensure your ponytail looks polished, smooth pesky flyaways. Simply spray a reusable mascara wand with hairspray. Then, comb the wand over the hairline once the ponytail is set, especially in front of the ears and at the nape of the neck for a sophisticated, rather than sporty look.

Tip No 4. – Shine bright

· Embrace the holiday spirit and add a touch of shimmer to your look with a bold clutch, glitter-filled nail polish or swipe of metallic eye shadow. With this added touch, no one will confuse “office you” with “party you.”
Follow these simple tips and smile as you bite into your 100th-holiday cookie, knowing you look your best!

· CeraVe® Skin Renewing Cream Serum (1.0 oz. tube) and CeraVe® Skin Renewing Night Cream (1.7 oz. jar) are available at Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, and Target with an SRP of $17.99 each.
· CeraVe® Renewing SA Cleanser (8 oz. bottle) is available at Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, and Target with an SRP of $12.99.

Baby Boom Heats Up as the Temperature Begins to Cool “MUST-HAVE” PRODUCTS TO SETTLE IN WITH BABY

unnamed

As the transition from summer to fall is underway, most expectant Moms are preparing for what they know will be an exhausting, yet mesmerizing first few weeks with their newborn. What they may not know is how much company they will have as new moms. In fact, July through October have proven to be the most popular months for U.S. births in 2012 – 2014, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).1

And while being a parent may be the hardest job a Mom will ever love, there are a few preparations she can make to help allow for smooth sailing when her special delivery arrives.

Soothe delicate skin:
· A baby’s skin is his or her first line of defense and because it takes time for their skin to mature, it requires special care. Moisturization is essential in helping protect and maintain their delicate skin barrier. NEW CeraVe® Baby Moisturizing Cream moisturizes for up to 24 hours with one application. Developed with pediatric dermatologists, this “must-have” cream is formulated for babies with sensitive skin or eczema, as it contains three essentials ceramides and dimethicone to help provide intense moisturization to temporarily help relieve chafed, chapped or cracked skin.

Don’t forget about the sun:
· Protecting your baby’s skin during the scorching summer months is a well-known must.
But don’t be fooled by cool, crisp days; sun protection is necessary 365 days a year. Remember to keep infants under six months out of the sun. Once baby is slightly older, at least six months, apply NEW CeraVe® Baby Sunscreen SPF 45 to help protect their sensitive skin from the sun’s UVA and UVB rays. This formula contains 100% naturally sourced physical sunscreen ingredients to provide broad spectrum sun protection and essential ceramides to help repair and restore the protective skin barrier.

Stock up on layer-friendly clothing and blankets:
· Little bundles of joy can quite accurately be described as “bundled” during the newborn phase, but autumn’s temperature swings can make it challenging to keep your baby comfortable. And while nothing says comfort to a baby quite like a soft blanket, many heavy versions may be too bulky to use in a stroller. Keep layer-friendly clothing and blankets on hand to offer flexibility when fall’s temperature begins to dip.

Keep naptime sacred:
· Late nights, early mornings and midnight feedings mean naptime is sacred to a new mom.
Tune out disruptive noise with a soothing sound machine to help baby fall and stay asleep.

Yes, the early stages of parenthood can be exhausting, but these simple preparations can help new parents remain cool as they transition from summer to fall.

All CeraVe® Baby products have been awarded the National Eczema Association (NEA) Seal of Acceptance™, which maintains rigorous standards for approval. The entire CeraVe® Baby line is also hypoallergenic and fragrance-, paraben-, gluten- and phthalate-free.

CeraVe is here to protect your baby’s delicate skin

category_sunscreen

My family uses suncare products all year long. I have all types, such as sprays, creams, sticks and lip balms that will protect just about every part of your body from the sun’s harmful rays. I remembered last year, we had family members over for a swim day, and they had forgotten their sunscreen. I was prepared for the adults but didn’t have any sunscreen that was specially formulated for young children. They were, however, happy to use what I had available to them. This year, I am prepared with CeraVe baby Sunscreen Lotion,  Face Lotion and CeraVe baby Moisturizing Cream. Now, when my family comes over for I swim, I can say “CeraVe is here to protect your baby’s delicate skin.”  What I am finding is that they are using my CeraVe baby products instead of their own and they are loving it.

CeraVe baby is new on the market, and I chose CeraVe because I like their adult sunscreens. CeraVe baby Face Lotion SPF50 is perfect for baby’s face and won’t run into your baby’s eyes. This sunscreen’s special features include being water resistant up to 80 minutes, it’s lightweight, oil-free and has InVisibleZinc formulation which when rubbed on your baby’s skin, provides a clear dry finish. CeraVe baby Sunscreen Lotion SPF45 provides some the same features as the face lotion is also hypoallergenic and is accepted by the National Eczema Association.
CeraVe_BabyMoisturizingCream_v01.6

Last but certainly not least is CeraVe baby Moisturizing Cream. This is perfect for after a day at the beach, after bathing or anytime you want to hydrate your baby’s skin. Just about anytime is the right time for a little moisturizing and pampering for your little one.

CeraVe baby contains just the right proportions of ceramides that are very safe for your baby’s skin. CeraVe baby contains NO Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates or Fragrance. Most importantly, CeraVe baby is designed to deflect the sun’s harmful rays.

Keep CeraVe Near…SANDAL SEASON IS HERE !!!!

unnamed-12

A Message from the PROS:   ARE YOUR FEET READY TO BARE IT ALL?

Will your feet dare to go bare this spring and summer? Whether you prefer gladiator styles or simple flip flops, your feet go on display as soon as the weather warms up and they stay that way almost until the first frost. However, if your feet have been stuck in boots all winter, you may need some foot repair that goes beyond an ordinary “pedi.”

The good news is CeraVe® has made it so easy to begin treating your feet, helping to conquer dryness and rough patches on your heels and the balls of your feet. CeraVe® Renewing SA Foot Cream, previously available only at a podiatrist’s office, is now available in the drugstore and it can help your feet in several key ways.

CeraVe® Renewing SA Foot Cream contains salicylic acid, ammonium lactate, ceramides, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. You won’t find this quintet at your local nail salon! Salicylic acid and ammonium lactate help by exfoliating dry, rough skin, loosening dead skin cells; smoothing and softening skin to let your skin’s natural beauty shine through. Without eliminating this dry top layer, nothing can really get in to begin the work of making your feet ready to go bare! Ceramides, the foundation of the CeraVe® brand, help replace lipid levels in compromised skin to help repair, restore and maintain the skin’s natural barrier. They also help by preventing water loss from the skin. They nourish and hydrate with CeraVe® patented MVE® controlled release technology.

Niacinamide supports the skin’s natural production of ceramides and fatty acids essential for restoring and repairing the skin barrier. Finally, hyaluronic acid works as a humectant that attracts water to the skin and ensures that skin remains hydrated.

For your own foot care regimen, cleanse feet with CeraVe® Hydrating Cleanser. Apply moisturizer and follow with CeraVe® Renewing SA Foot Cream. Do this twice a day before sandal season begins to get your feet ready for any and every style of footwear your heart desires. Dry, rough skin should never be a deciding factor in what shoes you buy. If your feet look great, only your wallet should have a deciding vote!

CeraVe® Renewing SA Foot Cream is available at many podiatrist offices, and now online, at drugstores and mass retailers nationwide with an SRP of $10.99 (3 oz. tube). For more information, please visit: www.cerave.com.

Clean it up with CeraVe

For the past couple of weeks I have been horrible when it comes to my skincare routine. Being that I work from home I felt that it was not a big deal to worry to much about washing my face or doing moisturizer etc. Boy was I WRONG! My skin felt so rugged, looked very dull and acne was coming out of nowhere. At times I noticed that the less I did to my face the better it was but you can only do that for so long. One week ago I tried a product that transformed my skin and now I can’t get enough….CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser.

CeraVe

CeraVe

The Renewing SA Cleanser is new product that helps to eliminate acne, dissolve dirt and oil leaving your skin feeling soft. Not only that but it will give off a nice, youthful glow. At night when it is time to take off your makeup, if your anything like me, you dread doing it. Many cleansers I have tried do not dig down deep and get all the layers off. The foaming effect really helps to exfoliate and get every last morsel of makeup off. I recommend this product for all skin types and even if it is sensitive.

The hydrating cleanser bar, just like the cleanser for the face, helps your skin all over. If you want to now more about CeraVe and all the products check out www.cerave.com

CeraVe Therapeutic Hand Cream is a Miracle in a Bottle

Unknown-42

Dry skin is not only the bane of our existence up here in colder climate but it’s pretty much a problem for anyone who is constantly washing the dishes, doing laundry, going out into the cold…and so on (which is pretty much all of us unless we are Rockefellers and have personal maids)…especially in the winter time. If you have got dry, chapped, cracked or chafed skin, this will not only help you heal it but it will give you a layer of protection throughout the day without feeling greasy or oily in any way.

Myself, I have tried many, many therapeutic creams and have found them lacking. For one thing, they can smell like aluminum….and go on ‘thin’…just don’t ‘feel’ very good. And after a half day or so you are back to that dry, flaky skin. Not so with CeraVe Therapeutic Hand Cream. If you’re desperate like me, still looking for a moisturizer that will actually work on your dry, flaky or scaly hands – whether it’s sensitive, psoriasis, or just very dry, try CeraVe Therapeutic Hand Cream.

Honestly up until now I had never even heard of CeraVe Cream. It’s a miracle in a tube! And the good thing about this moisturizer is that it’s not just good for general dry skin, but also works for sensitive skin, psoriasis and many other skin conditions. In fact I have even read that Pediatricians recommend it for babies! So you can’t go wrong!

CeraVe was developed by dermatologists and uses a patented formulation that provides a protective barrier on the skin’s surface. This special formulation helps to repair, restore and maintain your skin. The three main ingredients are: Ceramides, which helps to replace the lipid levels in damaged skin to repair, restore, and maintain the skin’s natural barrier. Then there is Niacinimide, which helps the skin produce more natural ceramides and fatty acirs essential for repairing and restoring the skin barrier and may even help to reduce rednesss! And, hyaluronic acid, which sounds scary but really is an essential ingredient (called a humectant) that attracts water to the skin and ensures that it remains hydrated.
The other incredible thing – which isn’t always the case with other therapeutic moisturizers – is that this product will not irritate your skin.  Having had dry irritated skin my whole life, I am extremely cautious as to what I will put on my skin. It either has to have a lot of natural ingredients without too much in terms of additives – or it has to be therapeutically formulated. Then again, I could just move to a tropical place where my skin would be moist year round (I might miss my family though…I don’t know).

Apparently, you can also buy this product in an all-over body moisturizer. And, since 29 out of 32 customer reviews on http://www.drugstore.com/  give CeraVe a 5-star rating, you really can’t go wrong. Now this product doesn’t appear to have an SPF in it…which isn’t a must by any means in a therapeutic skin cream. I’m planning on using this for a whole month to see how it works long term….but even after a week of using it three times a day, my skin has already improved in terms of color and moisture.
