Exercise For Your Age & Products For Exercise Days

Exercise is great, but, certain exercises can be more beneficial than others for different age groups. I actively participate in the  BoneBuildres of RI exercise classes. These are best suited for men and women over the age of 50. These classes are sponsored by The Village at Waterman Lake and only require a donation of $2 per class.

“The program is designed to be easily modified for each individual participant. The availability of multiple weight sizes allows all participants to start in their comfortable range of exertion and steadily progress as they get more comfortable with their ability. After more than a year of offering the program we’re excited to conclude that wellness is exactly what is achieved!” http://bonebuildersri.com/about-us/

For those of us over the age of 55, senior centers are the perfect place to find  exercise classes and programs for the senior age group. Yes, here in Rhode Island our senior centers give us access at age 55. Many centers offer Zumba, Yoga, Line Dancing, Tai Chi and more. Again for only a small donation fee for class and a maybe $10 to join. Let me tell you, today and 87 year old woman at Zumba class was “moving, moving, moving it like I could not believe!”

I also have a membership at a local gym and pop in there from time to time. This is where I first noticed the need to “exercise for my age”.  I was attending classes with young people, which is fine, I can keep up but I am no longer 20. There’s a difference between how we should work out in our 20s and how we should work out when we’re no longer 20.  Read more: http://www.oprah.com/health/exercise-for-your-20s-30s-40s-50s-and-60s_1/all#ixzz59wlIgSmD

Exercise should be like brushing your teeth at every age as long as you are able and your doctor approves.

I attend a lot of classes, sometimes more than one a day. I tote around a CALIA by Carrie Underwood Rolled Duffle Bag. When I am carrying some extra weights I go with my Rockland Rolling Duffle Bag. It is leopard and pink! I love my Ice Pops Cool It Caddy . It is great for keeping my make up cool in my Duffle Bags in the summer. I never go to the gym without mascara and lip stick. In the Cool It Cady, I also can stash any small snack fruits or my occasional chocolate bar.

I love my Well-Kept Fitness Towelettes (pictured above). They clean equipment, my weights, yoga mats and more. I like everything clean and sanitary, as we all should, of course. I always keep a stash in each of my bags for clean up before and after a class or workout. There are 26 eucalyptus-mint infused botanic fiber clothes in a pack. I never go without these.

My Yoga Mat Towel by LEUS (pictured above) is perfect for an under the sun or in class Yoga workout. It keeps my hands, feet and body parts in place when transitioning between poses. It’s surface slip resistant (spray with water to activate) and super for absorbing sweat. It’s also great for preventing  microbial growth on mats. If using a thin mat, the towel adds more comfort too. It’s light and tucks away neatly into my bag. I also use it in place of a standard mat while traveling.

The companion to my  Yoga Mat Towel is the LEUS 100% cotton Active Gym Towel (pictured above).  Again, it’s an item that easily tucks away into my bag and is a true necessity at the gym, in class or outside.

Do It Yourself Hairstyles

Looking for a great Holiday Do? Try one of these great step by step hairstyles.

The Top Knot, similar to the Carrie Bradshaw moment

1.Brush out your hair so that it’s nice and smooth
2.Flip your head over and put your hair in a high ponytail at the top of your head and secure with a hair tie. (Use a hair tie color closest to your hair color)
3.Twist, braid, or simply wrap your ponytail hair around the hair tie to create a smooth “knot” and secure with a second hair tie.
4.Use bobby pins to secure any loose pieces.
5.Spray with a little bit of hairspray and use to smooth out any frizzies.

For something softer:

1. Create a deep side part when hair is wet
2. Then blow dry hair using hands.
3. Next, with a one 1/4 inch curling iron, curl your hair.
4. Then pull your hair into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck, leaving a few pieces in front to frame the face,
5. Secure with a piece of hair from the underneath by wrapping it around the base of the ponytail; this creates a beautiful, clean hold.

*****You can also pull your hair into a chignon

For something in between, (half up do) :
1. Once hair is dried, used a one inch curling iron and curled from the bottom of the hair to create tousled undone waves.
2. Leaving a few pieces in front to frame the face, pull the hair from the sides to the center and secure with bobby pins.
3. Leave the rest of the hair down, in front of the shoulders to keep the look modern.
4. To secure the look, apply Hairspray to maintain the look.
