However I really liked how manageable the “Sizzle Pink” lip liner from Butter London was. With a few light strokes I could get a nice pop of pink without it being too much, and could get a more rich color by layering on a bit more. What to Wear as a Mature Student

Going to college as a mature student is a strange experience. You are probably excited at the thought of learning new things and enjoying life out of the rat race for a while, but being thrust into a sea of teenagers who are away from home for the first time is truly nerve wracking. You are probably desperate to fit in, so the last thing you want to do is dress like their mom, or worse, a tutor.

Wearing inappropriate clothing sends out the wrong vibe. First impressions count in any social situation, so you need to wear the right outfit for your first day in class. You are likely to be in a minority, with most of your fellow students in their teens or early 20s. You may not end up being best friends with any of them, but why set yourself apart unnecessarily? Here is a quick guide to rocking the college look, even if you are a 40-something mature student.

Be True to Yourself

It is important to be true to yourself. Now is not the time to start experimenting with a radical new look. You might have gotten away with it in your teens, but you are way too old for that now. This is not to say you need to be boring. No, far from it. It’s OK to wear skinny jeans and some leather boots if that’s the look you are comfortable with, but don’t feel you have to follow the herd.

Hopefully, as a mature woman you are blessed with plenty of self-confidence. If you enjoy wearing colorful ethnic scarves or statement jewelry, then go for it. Jazz up a plain pair of trousers with a funky necklace and a colorful scarf. You won’t look out of place.

Corporate Fashion

Are you used to dressing up for corporate meetings and your work closet is full of pantsuits and blouses? If so, you need to shake it up a little, otherwise people will mistake you for Hillary Clinton or a tutor. Most people dress down for college. Jeans and sneakers are the order of the day, with casual sweaters and hoodies for cooler days. If you show up wearing a smart pantsuit with heels, you will look and feel out of place. By all means, wear a silk shirt or heels, but dress down the look with jeans or a long Bo-Ho maxi skirt.

Online College Courses

The great thing about enrolling in an online college course is that you can wear whatever you like. If you are studying for an online MSN nursing administration at Bradley University, nobody will know what you are wearing for lectures, since they all take place online. You can rock up to a tutorial with your MSN administration tutor and he won’t know you are still in your old pajamas. How cool is that?

Whatever your personal style is, dress accordingly when you start college. As long as you keep it casual, you should fit right in.

Diane’s Flex Twist Rods curled my hair to perfection

I’ve been using Diane 10″ Twist Flex Rods from Fromm Beauty on my hair and I am super impressed with my results. I have been trying not to apply any heat to my hair and these curlers are the answer to my problem. They curl my hair to perfection and I love it! I used these in my hair when it was a little damp. I put them in and I went to sleep. Sleeping with traditional rollers is a hassle and extremely uncomfortable. However Diane’s Twist Flex Rods are super comfortable to sleep in. I was amazed that I was able to get a good nights sleep! In the morning I had the perfect curly wave.  I’ve also tried these with damp hair and waited for my hair to air dry before removing them. The results were great.

Get Your Happy Back

When we’re busy and sometimes too busy for ourselves, we must remember the pursuit of happiness. With that being said, we tend to focus on our goals, we put our heads down and hit that daily grind, day after day and we lose sight of our state of happiness. The state of happiness means different things to different people. Are you looking to be happy for the moment or for the rest of your life? Let’s be happy for a lifetime, not just for the moment. Here are some tips that you can do in your daily life to create happiness in your existence.

  1.  Catch the Sunrise/Sunset – It does not matter, if you are at an exotic vacation spot or in the comfort of your own home; the sun will rise and set. Many people say that they feel a sense of peace and joy when watching the sunrise/sunset. If you are an early riser, get outside with a cup of coffee or cocoa and watch the Sunrise. Take in the sense of happiness that you made it another day and you have all day to complete your mission. If you are not an early riser don’t worry about, you can catch the Sunset. Let the feeling of peace and satisfaction of a job well done, fill you. Either the Sunrise or Sunset will put a smile on your face.
  2. Surround yourself with positive people – We all have a person we know that every time you talk to them they are so full of woes, their car broke down, her boss is mean, her co-workers don’t like her, etc. If you don’t know that person it might be you! You want to speak positivity into your life. You want to be part of the solution not the problem. You want to surround yourself with positive like-minded people. The energy that you share and pick up is important to your state of mind. Stay positive and avoid anyone who is stealing your joy.
  3. Sweat – Find some way to get your sweat on. Find something that will make you forget about your problems, even if it is for just 30 minutes. Play tag with your kids, jump rope, swim or whatever makes you happy. You can do something as simple as turn on your radio and dance! I promise you, that alone with make you laugh.
  4. Smile – Yes, smiling will make you happy. A smile is contagious so wear it, share it and spread it all over.
  5. Stop and smell the roses – I know you have heard that before but it is very true, take time to enjoy nature. Take a timeout and walk around the block. I know our days are so cramped with all the things we have to do, that we feel guilty if we take a moment for ourselves. Believe me, you will have a clearer mind so that you can focus on that to-do list.

Take time daily to do something that makes you happy and share that happiness with others. We are all in pursuit of happiness so let’s help each other along the way.

Get The Look: Rita Ora in Rimmel London at the Nocturnal Animals Premiere

The Look: Bold and sultry

The Inspiration:  Celebrity Makeup Artist Kathy Jeung was inspired by the singer, actress and Rimmel London Ambassador’s dramatic black Tom Ford tunic, opting for strong bronzed eyes, bronzed cheeks and a pale lip.

How to Get the Look: 

SKIN

To begin, Kathy applied Rimmel London Fix & Perfect Pro Primer to prep and prime skin for makeup. She then used Rimmel London Hide the Blemish Concealer in Light Beige to conceal dark circles, brushing Rimmel London Match Perfection Concealer in Light/Medium on top, gently patting and blending the two together with her ring finger. Next, she applied Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation in Sand, blending into Rita’s skin with a makeup brush and a damp makeup sponge. Kathy then set Rita’s foundation with a light dust of Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Silky Beige and finished by applying Rimmel London Kate Sculpting Kit in Golden Sands to her cheeks.

LIPS 

Kathy prepped Rita’s lips with Rimmel London Lip Conditioning Balm by Kate to add moisture and to prime lips for color. Next, she lined Rita’s lips with Rimmel London Exaggerate Lip Liner in Innocent and finished by applying Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick in First Class Nude.

EYES & BROWS

The base of Rita’s strong eye was the NEW Rimmel London Magnif’Eyes Palette in London Calling. Kathy applied a matte beige shade to the browbone and a deep bronze to the lid and crease, blending outwards towards the temples. Along the upper and lower lashline, Kathy drew a thin line with Rimmel London Magnif’eyes Double Ended Shadow & Liner in Back to Blacks, smudging it into the lashline. Next, she used the same liner to line the inner rims of the eyes. To lift the outer corners of the eyes, Kathy applied a flick of Rimmel London Colour Precise Eyeliner in Black. To add a touch of bronze to the lower lash line, she applied Rimmel London ScandalEyes Shadow Stick in Bad Bronze. Finally, Kathy finished Rita’s eyes by applying a few coats of Rimmel London ScandalEyes Mascara in Black to upper and lower lashes.

Kathy enhanced Rita’s brows by applying Rimmel London Brow This Way Brow Sculpting Kit in Blonde, brushing her brows into place, filling and shaping them.
