MOTHER’S DAY MAGIC ~ BEYONCE MIDNIGHT HEAT PERFUM

Are you looking for the perfect gift for Mother’s Day, I found it, Beyonce Midnight Heat Perfume!!!  My mother is very difficult to please on this special holiday and has absolutely everything.  I wanted to surprise her with something unique and fabulous, not the same old brands of perfume.  Beyonce Midnight Heat is different from other celebrity scents from the bottle design, to the attention to detail. The fragrance is tropical and reminds of my mother on a warm summer night in a beautiful floral dress, sipping an exotic drink.  The scent is a lovely blend of patchouli and succulent plum and the bottle is symbolic with the fragrance.  The packaging is purple and silver, the bottle inside is a crystal tower of purple fragrance with a square crystal cap.  Once the fragrance sprayed, my mood was lifted from the cold, dark, winter to the warm breeze of summer.  The fragrance could not have caught my attention at a better time, it is the perfect gift for Mother’s Day!!!

Duri’s Perfect Colors for Spring and Summer

One reason why I love the spring and summer is because I can always have a bright and cheerful nail color on. I never used Duri before, but I’m realizing that I should have a long time ago. I especially love the “sweetheart” color because its not too pink, but yet not too red. I applied two coats and I think it looks great. I didn’t need a topcoat and it surprisingly didn’t chip. Another plus is that it’s made in the USA! Duri has tons of colors so go check them out for the warm weather!

Love Louboutin? Try the Manicure!

What can I say….I love romantic comedies!  My DVR is filled with nothing by funny, feel-good movies like “The Holiday”, “Love Actually” and “Notting Hill”.  Another favorite is  “The Proposal” with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.  But it isn’t just the comedic banter that keeps me coming back to watch it again and again …..it’s the shoes.  Specifically the gorgeous Christian Louboutins Margaret (Bullock’s character)  is wearing when she kneels down to ask Andrew (Reynolds) to marry her.  I’ve been dying for a pair ever since!

Today I spotted a Louboutin-inspired manicure that I also love and am definitely going to try and wanted to pass along.

All you need is:

  • 1 red nail polish (I like Classic Red by Gabriel Cosmetics!)
  • 1 black nail polish
  • 1 cotton swab
  • Nail polish remover

First:  PAINT UNDERSIDE OF NAIL TIPS RED — With your palms facing up, paint a thin coat of red nail polish to the underside of your nails.  If your nails are shorter and don’t extend past the fingertips, use a set of clear press-on nails and paint the bottoms before applying them to your own nails. Apply two coats of red polish on each finger and repeat the process on your other hand.

Next:  CLEAN UP THE  SKIN SURROUNDING NAILS
Dip a Q-tip or a wooden nail stick tip wrapped with tissue into nail polish remover. Use the wet end of the Q-tip to remove any red polish that may be left on your skin.

Then:   PAINT NAILS BLACK

Finally,  paint two coats of black polish onto the tops of your nails (you may also want to use a base coat prior to this step).   If you don’t like black or if you want more of a daytime look, try using a beige or cream polish instead!  Finish with a top coat.

Come & Get It at the MTV Awards

Selena Gomez turned heads on the red carpet at last’s night MTV Movies Awards with a sparkling gold beaded mini dress and an equally bold hairstyle. Here’s the first-hand scoop on how to recreate this look from Selena’s hairstylist, Marissa Marino of the Nine Zero One Salon, using UNITE Hair Care:

STEPS

1. To create the pompadour, section off hair from the front of your hairline and sprinkle it with the UNITE Expanda Dust ($25) throughout. Tease it back, using a comb. Next, pin this section with a bobby pin to secure it in place.

2. Take the rest of the hair and make five small ponytails down the center of your head.

3. Create a French braid using all of the ponytails together. (You can find French braid tutorials on YouTube.com).

4. Spray the UNITE Session Max Hairspray ($29.95) all over to tame frizzies and  smooth the sides around the hairline.

5. To make the braid look undone, pull it apart and pin these pieces down, using bobby pins.

6. Finish the look with the UNITE Max Control Hairspray ($27.50)to tame down any flyaways.

Now this product doesn’t appear to have an SPF in it…which isn’t a must by any means in a therapeutic skin cream. I’m planning on using this for a whole month to see how it works long term….but even after a week of using it three times a day, my skin has already improved in terms of color and moisture.

Jane Austen’s “Guide to Thrift” Gives you the Best Bang for Your Buck

“Jane Austen’s Guide to Thrift” by Kathleen Anderson and Susan Jones has some great tips!  I love finding ways to make my household budget stretch. It can be a real challenge, but this book makes it easy by  sharing lots and lots of valuable ideas. Not every idea is for everyone but there are so many good ones here that I am sure that you will find something that makes your life easier and/or saves some of your hard earned money. Anytime I learn something new, I feel that my time reading was well spent. I was amazed to learn about “felting” which I had never heard of before. Something new for me to try my hand at. From shopping to cleaning, buying or selling, there are many things presented  that will help you get “your best bang for your buck”. The author’s  presentation was unique and well written. Worth the time; worth the read!

Biore Daily Cleansing Cloths are a Must-Have for Quick Cleansing!

 


Today I used Bioré Daily Cleansing Cloths. They worked perfectly because I tend to occasionally wear a little tinted moisturizer or bronzer as makeup to school, but I never have time to wash it off between track! This is a huge problem for girls everywhere! If you wear makeup to school you feel disgusting when running or exercising, and break out, but if you don’t wear the makeup you may feel like you’re broadcasting blemishes!
