For this design the nail polish that I used was not a name brand. Although it was really easy to achieve. Just apply an orange nail polish and let it dry. Then using a black nail art polish make the design of the wings. Then you can use a dotting tool and dip it in white nail polish and complete the design. Finally apply a top coat and you’re done! This was not very difficult for me and I think it’s really cute for the summer!

This year while covering The MAKEUP SHOW-Chicago for It’s A Glam Thing, I not only had the pleasure of meeting the Emmy nominated celebrity makeup artist and founder of Senna Cosmetics, Eugenia Weston, but had an opportunity to have Ms.Weston do a makeover on me.

Eugenia is one of the most gracious, soft spoken, congenial women I’ve met, and by the time I left the Senna booth, looking better than I have in ages, Eugenia had agreed to do an interview with me. As you can imagine, I was ecstatic the rest of the day! This was a dream come true!
Eugenia Weston is the consummate makeup artist who is not only able to visualize an idea for a makeup product, have the creativity to develop that product, but ultimately create the finished product that is able to be used and enjoyed by all!

VICKI:
Eugenia, what inspired you to follow an artistic career in makeup artistry and product development?
EUGENIA:
Do you believe in destiny? I knew that I was literally born to do makeup. My inspirations have always come from fashion, cinema, theatre, photography and art. I’ve always been intrigued with faces.
I developed products out of need. Before Senna, I started doing freelance makeup and the products and colors available were very limited. I had a definite vision of beauty and couldn’t find the right cosmetics to fulfill my vision. I would mix and blend colors from many established store brands to create the shades that defined what is still my signature style today, clean and beautiful makeup. My clients loved the natural looks I created with these colors and requested them. I explained that I would have to mix them up, and they said, “I want them.”. So I began to create colors and products in my kitchen for my customers.
VICKI:
That certainly was destiny, Eugenia! At what point did you experience that “ah-ha” feeling and know that you and your career were moving in the direction you had hoped for?
EUGENIA:
My career and brand has evolved over the years from my passion for making up faces. I knew that I would never do anything else in my life. Creating Senna Cosmetics was my “ah-ha” moment!
VICKI:
Your list of celebrity clients in both film and television is quite remarkable. Was there a memorable “moment” while working with one these “personalities” that you’d like to share with us?
EUGENIA:
Working with Bette Midler on the film Down and Out in Beverly Hills (Disney, 1986) enabled me to learn more about the film industry. I had only done print and stage work prior. Bette wanted me to be her makeup artist on all of her films. She arranged for me to be trained by legendary film makeup men, as I was not familiar with this genre. I am forever grateful.
VICKI:
Your Face Sculpting Kit has honestly changed my whole look! It’s different than anything I’ve ever experienced, and has cut my makeup time in half. Why does it have such a positive impact on a person’s face?

Most women are frustrated with their brows because they’re not artists and can’t figure out the what, where and how. Working with so many women in my makeup and brow studios, I come up with solutions to address these issues and brows were a big one. I created Form-A-Brow® Stencil Kit out of a need. I would hand cut every stencil myself for each client, over 600! It became such a hit we put them into production in the early 1990’s and a new beauty category was born.
VICKI:
What are some of your thoughts regarding makeup application that women need to be aware of as they go through the different stages and ages in their lifetime?
EUGENIA:
There are so many great products on the market today, so education is vital. I suggest going to an expert that is knowledgeable and understands these different stages. Professional makeup artists need to key into the life styles of their client in order to make the proper suggestions.
Must have tips:
Use eyeliner in the upper water line to make lashes look fuller. Use anti-aging and moisturizing facial serums plus a SPF30 daily to nourish and protect skin. Use a foundation primer under makeup to smooth skin. Because brows fade with age, fill in with powder color, pencils or tinted brow gels to create definition.
VICKI:
Please tell us about your involvement in the American Cancer Society’s “Look good, Feel Better” program.
EUGENIA:
Makeup is a very healing experience. The American Cancer Society’s ‘Look Good, Feel Better’ program caught my attention because I love helping women look better which makes them feel better. I wanted to volunteer and give back with one on one pampering and uplift their spirits since they are going through such a traumatic period in their lives. Wearing makeup really helps them face the world in a normal manner. Most of the women never had a makeup lesson. They always leave so happy.
VICKI:
Would you share some hints for summer looks that our readers will enjoy from your new Summer 2013 Sunglow Collection?
EUGENIA:

“You are what you eat,” – that’s what they say, right? Have you ever thought about what you put on your skin as being ‘eaten’ or ‘consumed’ by your body – this is an interesting thing to consider when picking out skin products, as I found out this week from Christine Laureano, founder of BA6 Skin care. She has a unique set of completely natural, extremely effective products that you can buy directly from her website – which not only contain very few chemicals but also work very effectively.
It’s summer so I am going cowgirl on ya!
“BA6 started when my kids were little. I was giving them a bath, pulled out the baby lotion, looked at the ingredients, and said – oh my god. I started doing research into the lotion and said – oh my god this is not good for my baby’s skin! I couldn’t believe it. So I went to Whole Foods and started researching the ingredients of all sorts of products, and came up with my first product which I made at home – Camomile and Lavender All over body lotion. This is a nice, light everyday moisturizer.”
Once Christine realized that she could make the moisturizer and sell it a relatively inexpensive price point, she started to create a business. The lotion was great and not only did it help the babies’ skin but the lavender smell would calm them. “Sweet almond oil and jojoba are the main oils. Almonds are very nutritious. Jojoba are the oils that are closest to our natural skin oil. My mission was all about looking at the deeper oils. Nutritious, rich and really good for your skin,” she said.
In reality, Christine points out, your skin really is absorbing 60% of what goes on it. She is a certified essential oil therapist as well as a Reiki Master, Reiki Master Healer, and a Certified Chocolatier too! (Meaning that she makes really great chocolate lavender truffles!). Next, Christine created the Cocoa Shea Body Lotion. Now, if you follow my blog at all you know that I suffer from horribly dry scaly skin and I am always reviewing products in light of how they will hurt or help my crazy alligator scales. The Cocoa Shea Body Lotion contains cocoa butter and shea butter – the makeup of both of those are so full of vitamins and things that are so good for your skin. According to Christine, this product is for people who have severely dry skin – who have been in the sun, who need something heavy duty. So, like, for people like me.
Not only is this product full of antioxidants – but it is deeply moisturizing. It actually helps to stimulate your collagen under your skin. I can’t believe how good my skin feels. It doesn’t feel tight, it’s really smooth, I cannot believe that my skin is no longer scaly. According to Christine, this product works because it has such healing properties – with antioxidants really pouring the nutrients into the skin. Just putting some waxy thing on your skin from Rite AID or something like that – it isn’t going to do the deep healing work into your skin. These products have healing properties, and her attitude is that your skin consumes them.
And then came the Booby Balm! Not long after creating the Ba6 Cocoa Shea lotion, Christine had a lot of people saying they had eczema, and asking for help. She started to develop a dense concentrated cream based on a rich thick cream base. As part of her healing work Christine had started working with the patients at Southampton Hospital in the Breast Health Center, and one day, a nurse asked her to look at one of the radiation patient’s skin. “I looked at the irritiated skin. It was damaged, burned, trying desperately to heal,” she said. Booby Balm was born. Christine added in Halocrstytom and German Camomoile Oil, Avocado, Shea Butter, Lavender Essential Oil, and more.
Booby Balm is strictly for Burns or Super Dry Skin. This creme is highly specialized and concentrated, and well worth the slightly added cost. “Booby Balm is now in the hospital’s Pink Ribbon bags – which all breast cancer patients receive at Southampton Hospital in Long Island and many other healthcare facilities,” she said.

My aunt surprised me the other day when she came over with a bunch of Avon goodies. In the bag was a complete outfit including a gorgeous blue dress, sandals to match, a great handbag, and a beautiful necklace! To top it off, there were even sugar cookies that were shaped as the sandals, dress, and the bag I got!
I love the neckline of the dress because it is adjustable and braided, and the belt is removable… how could you go wrong for a summer dress!? I was so glad the dress fit me, but especially the sandals! They are adorable and can go with almost anything! I am not too crazy about necklaces, but I loved this one because of the colors of the beads.
