What are the Most Loved Love Songs?

Valentine’s Day is approaching and love is definitely in the air. For decades now, romantic songs have been an essential part of courtship. If you’re trying to up the romantic ante for this Valentine’s Day, look no further than this list of the “Most Loved Love Songs for Each of the Past 50 Years.” – See more at: http://www.accuradio.com/blog/what-are-the-most-loved-love-songs/toplovesongs_accuradio_v2

Starting with the most recent love songs, in 2014, the top-rated love song was “Hurt You” from Toni Braxton and Babyface. A couple of years prior in 2012, Jason Mraz scored a hit with “I Won’t Give Up,” the lead single from his album Love is a Four Letter Word. The single debuted at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the album was nominated for a 2012 Grammy Award, proving that listeners everywhere weren’t ready to give up on love songs.
At the turn of the century in 2000, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora teamed up for another hit. Their reunion gave us “Thank You for Loving Me,” the third single from their Grammy-nominated album Crush. Faith Hill scored consecutive hits in 1998 and 1999 with “This Kiss” and “Breathe,” respectively; her husband, Tim McGraw, had 1997’s top love song with “It’s Your Love,” making them arguably the top power couple in the love songs department.
Whitney Houston’s epic “I Will Always Love You” debuted in 1992, and the signature song of The Bodyguard was joined on our list by other popular songs from films as well. For example, Phil Collins scored his first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1984 with “Against All Odds,” from the film of the same name. “It Must Have Been Love” from Pretty Woman was the top love song of 1990, and it was also listed as the #2 Hot 100 Billboard single of the year in 1990. Similarly, Top Gun’s iconic love scene featured “Take My Breath Away” by Berlin, and listeners made it the most popular love song of 1986. The Bee Gees represent the tail-end of the disco era with “How Deep is Your Love,” a cut that appeared on the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever.
The early Seventies gave us a run of soulful romantic love songs, as The Stylistics show up twice with 1974’s “You Make Me Feel Brand New” and 1971’s “You Are Everything,” each of which sold over a million copies globally. In 1972, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes had their first #1 hit with “If You Don’t Know Me by Now,” which was named one of the Songs of the Century by the RIAA.
In 1970, The Carpenters collaborated with Herb Alpert on an arrangement of the Burt Bacharach/Hal David composition “Close to You,” which became their breakout hit and led them to a Grammy win in 1971. Neil Diamond closed out the ’60s with his 1969 hit “Sweet Caroline,” which reached #4 on the Billboard chart, and eventually went platinum, selling over one million singles.
Finally, in 1965, The Righteous Brothers gave us “Unchained Melody,” which was the top-rated love song of 1965 as well as the top love song of all time, according to the average rating from AccuRadio’s Love Songs channel. Quite impressive for a song that was originally released as a B-side to another single.
The Most Romantic States
Of course, when it comes to making a romantic gesture, you need to have the right setting, as well as the right soundtrack. To that end, we’ve researched the top U.S. states in the mood for love, based on the Love Songs channel’s share of overall listening on AccuRadio. New York, whose official state flower is the rose, is the top state for love by these standards, followed closely by Arkansas, whose commitment to love is demonstrated by town names like Romance, Rose Bud, and Heart.
California, home to power ballad kings Journey, is the third-best state for love, followed by Alaska, Minnesota, and Texas. Hawaii earns the seventh spot on the list, not surprisingly for the state with the second highest number of weddings and the best honeymoon destinations. Michigan is eighth, and Virginia apparently is for lovers after all, coming in at the ninth spot. Finally, Rhode Island rounds out the top ten.
Love is a many-splendored thing, and we often turn to music to attempt to express our feelings. Whether you’re in the mood for a country-tinged romance, modern R&B love songs, or classic love songs from the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s, AccuRadio provides a great soundtrack that’s perfect for creating a romantic Valentine’s Day with your partner. Get ready to fall in love!

All the single ladies…& men

Love is still in the air!!
By: Dr. Nancy H. Wall

All is not doom and gloom, even as we watch the stock market crumble. Our current challenging economic climate has shifted the bottom lines of many businesses, though the matchmaking industry continues to boom, especially in Tampa Bay! This shift is in a positive direction!

Typically, at this time of year, around the holiday season, people become more introspective. They start to, once again, look and reflect back on their lives, in a very critical manner. Things they are not happy about become even more important, negative and even more depressing. This is especially true for singles, where the holidays tend to lend themselves to family gatherings, couples, etc., and they feel very alone and isolated.

We at Tampa Bay MatchMakers have seen an increase in new prospects requesting information about matchmaking, coaching, and dating services. This introspection is very good for our business. People are figuring out what they want and what they feel they need. For many of them, they want to find that special someone. Many of them are sad. Many are looking for love. Many have been searching for a number of years, and each year they repeat the same thing…”I don’t want to be alone again next year.”

The major shift we have seen at Tampa Bay Matchmakers this year has been in working with clients who have recently lost their jobs due to the current economic challenges. As we work very closely with each client to be sure he/she is making the best first impression while meeting new people, and are open and ready for a healthy, happy relationship, those without jobs find this task very difficult. We take the journey with our clients and coach them throughout the process. In these difficult times, without a job, the clients themselves decide to put their relationship search on hold, as they enter a full time job search. We offer them the option to place their accounts on hold, as they work to find new jobs and regain their self esteem. These clients many times are not in a position to meet new people and start a new, healthy relationship, for the right reasons. We are concerned that they might miss the perfect opportunity…….if the right person were sitting across from them in a booth, would they know it? If their mind is not focused on the relationship and the meeting, as they worry about finding a new job and question their self esteem, they might miss their soul mate who is sitting right across the table from them!

Bittersweet Bracelets are Simple but Amazing

Bittersweet

This is literally one of those products that you say to yourself “Why didn’t I think of this.”  The invention is simple but amazing and I am so excited to wear it!  BitterSweet bracelet was designed to hold an always needed hair tie elastic within a classy bracelet.  If you are like me, I am always strutting a hair tie elastic around my wrist…… not a pretty site especially with a dress.  I do this because when I need my hair pulled back, the hair tie will be readily available and I don’t have to go searching for one….. you can never find one when you are in need of one!  Besides being an eye sore around my wrist and an unfashionable statement, the hair tie elastic was tight and uncomfortable, stopping my circulation and irritating my skin!  They actually made dents around my wrist.  BitterSweet bracelet holds a hair tie elastic in a crevice circling around the stylish bracelet, eliminating the pressure from the elastic to the wrist.

Believe it or not, the hair tie elastic is actually part of the design of the stylish bracelet.  It is channeled in, making the design of the bracelet look like no other piece of jewelry ever made.  Even when the hair tie elastic is in use holding my hair back, the BitterSweet bracelet is elegant and modern.   Therefore, the bracelet can be worn with or without the hair tie elastic and still look chic.  BitterSweet is a cool way to keep your hair tie elastic readily available with you at all times without the painful elastic band indentions!  With eleven different designs in gold, silver, rose gold or steel finish…. it is hard to chose one!  This stunning invention makes a perfect Valentine’s gift, birthday present or just a “sweet” little surprise for your special person in your life!  If you are a slave to wearing that plain hair tie elastic band around your wrist, don’t wait any longer, let BitterSweet bracelet change your life….. as it changed mine!  Available from $45.00 to $85.00 at http:/www.bittersweet.is/

Party Perfect Cocktail Hour

I LOVE this concept for a wedding, party or celebration. A nice eclectic mix of the old with the new…it’s simply chic and charming with every detail from the lighting to the linen bar and ottomans to the punch of hot pink as the accent color that is carried throughout the theme of the design. Hmmm…this makes me what to start planning my next party!

It’s all about those Grammys

As we know last night was the Grammys awards. Stars flooded the red carpet in beautiful AND jaw dropping fashions that are making headlines. I have always loved watching award shows, especially the red carpet, to see just how creative people can get. It was a show with some dos and dont’s of red carpet fashion. Hard to believe Taylor Swift made the worst dress list when that one was one of my favorites.

Many memorable performances of the night were Sia performing her hit single “Chandelier” with Maddie Zieglar dancing, Annie Lennox with Hozier and my personal favorite Lady Gaga with Tony Bennet performing “Cheek to Cheek”. Not only great performances but many awards were handed out as well. It was defintely a night of star studded bliss that will keep us all talking.

But like I said Im all about those red carpet looks & these ladies (& gentleman) didn’t dare disappoint when it came to their look and may I Just add…Miley you look great.
