Carlos Huber tells us “How to Find your Signature Scent”

Shopping for a new fragrance can be extremely over whelming. There are so many different scents and it’s hard to know what works well with your personal aroma and body oil. Carlos Huber, founder of Arquiste Parfumeur, provides tips on how to pick your signature scent.

unnamed-1

Consider Your Personal Style
“Think about your style not only in terms of the clothes you wear, but of the image, vibe, and attitude that you exude. You can change in and out of your clothes, but a scent has more depth. Choose one that draws you in; it will likely draw others in, too.”

Know the Scent Families
1. Citrus: “As the name states, these are all citrus-derived scents. They are described as fresh, bright, and juicy.”
2. Aromatic: “These are herbs, grasses, and other mossy or rooty notes. They are brisk, green, and more woodsy.”
3. Aquatic and Ozonic: “Marine and airy notes. They are very crisp or refreshing.”
4. Woody: “Similar to aromatic. These include woods, resins, and incenses.”
5. Florals: “Oddly enough, these run the spectrum between dainty and rugged. Some are very strange. I personally love how jungly, green, and crunchy a gardenia can smell.”

Match Your Mood
“Using a darker, woody fragrance may say you have a more serious, mysterious, or rugged personality, and something fresher and brighter may represent a lighter, more outdoorsy personality. Don’t try too hard to match your multilayered personality to one scent. That’s why we make more than one: So you can use different ones depending on your mood.”

Embrace Change
“This is fragrance, not a marriage. It’s an easy, attainable luxury, so you should have fun with it and vary your scents, whether from weekday to weekend, or from one season to the next.”

Research the Fragrance—Or At Least Read the Packaging
“Most fragrances have a backstory, which can be a great conversation piece when people ask you about your scent. For example, each one I create comes from an actual site visit to somewhere remarkable. It has to have a great story and a natural scent must be involved. This gives the fragrance a unique identity and provides me with creative direction. I use the ingredients present in the place, which will then determine the scent family. From there, I refine what kind of man or woman would wear it and decide which season is best for launch.” visit   arquiste.com

WayTooTan

By Lisa Gal

WayTooTan is a Dark Hybrid Tanning Silicone. If you’ve ever tried products with silicone you know how silky and flawless they make your skin feel. While silicone locks in moisture and other active ingredients, it still allows your skin to breathe leaving you with lightweight coverage. This expensive ingredient acts as an emollient and emulsifier which is usually only found in high end lotions and tanners. “This one-of-a-kind, multi-purpose tanning lotion can be used in tanning salons/spas, indoors as a sunless product, or outdoors at the pool/beach. It’s perfect year-round and especially for those who like to tan outdoors during the spring and summer months.” We are excited to have them in The Four Seasons Hotel Gift Bag to honor SAG Award Nominees and talent later this month.

Hot Tips on Getting Your Bridal Jewelry Selection Just Right

wedding

The typical Indian wedding can be (and usually is) an extremely elaborate affair. Right from the multiple ceremonies to the guest list, the wedding feast, the bridal trousseau, and even the honeymoon, the list of preparation to be made and executed right can be mindboggling. From the bride’s point of view the planning and shopping for the bridal jewelry is extremely important as all eyes would be on her when she makes her entrance at the grand nuptial ceremony. Some hot tips on proper jewelry selection:

Give Yourself Plenty of Time

Unless you are getting married in a real hurry, you should give yourself at least six months of time to do all the planning, especially your trousseau and jewelry. Aim to be completely ready with everything at least three week before the big day so that in case you have a last minute change, you can still go ahead and execute it without tearing your hair off. If you are as picky as most girls are, start visiting your favorite jewelry shops well in time to acquaint yourself with the latest trends. It can also be a very good idea to visit the many online jewelry stores that stock some really amazing bridal jewelry.

Shop for Your Wedding Couture First

Even though your bridal jewelry will end up costing many times more than your wedding dress and also last much longer, you need to realize that at the end of the day, the jewelry is an accessory that needs to be paired with the apparel to create the right effect. Hence, you need to make up your mind regarding your bridal look and make the necessary purchase of your wedding saree, lehenga or whatever it is that you wish to get married in. Since there will be a number of functions, you need to plan out your dresses accordingly, which will in turn dictate the need for appropriate jewelry.

How to Shop for the Best Diamond Bangle Design

To start off with you need to allocate a certain budget for purchasing jewelry. The amount will vary according to your means but you also need to keep in mind whether you will be inheriting jewelry from your family as that can save you quite a lot of money as there is no need of replicating the heirlooms with fresh pieces of jewelry. If you are going to purchase the ornaments from the high-street stores be sure to only visit the well-reputed ones, especially those that you or your family have frequented earlier. Make it a point to arm yourself with a photograph of the dress or a fabric swatch so that you can refer to it to make sure that your choice complements the outfit. Also have handy the ideal length of the necklace, wrist and waist circumference, etc. so that you can be sure that the items will be proportionate.

Alternatively, you can trawl the Internet to see if there are any fine jewelry pieces that you may like. Shopping on the net also allows you the flexibility of purchasing from the best of high street jewelry stores in the country as well as from specialist online stores such as Candere.com that will offer the most happening and trendy styles, especially in necklace and diamond bangle design. When choosing bridal jewelry it is best to select pieces that will not only look stunning on the big day but can be used on many occasions thereafter. Rather than picking out very heavy pieces, try to look out for interchangeable pieces that can be mixed and matched to create a versatile look on both upcoming formal and casual occasions. Almost all girls tend to have a struggle with family elders regarding the styling. To avoid arguments it can be a very good idea to pick out some items that are modern recreations of the old and classical styles that never die out.

Create the “Un-Wave”

January, 2016 (New York, NY) – The un-wave is the new wave in town, it may look like it just organically appeared, but it takes a little bit of effort to look so effortless. Ruth Roche, Artistic Ambassador for Pureology Serious Colour Care, says it’s so easy anyone can do it and proves it by showing Courtney Bright from darlingtwo.com how to create the look with (GASP) hot rollers. That’s right, break ‘em out! DIY Video:

unnamed-2

“The un-wave is not a beachy wave nor is it straight, but it’s the texture of the moment and is the added touch any style needs to be current,” says Roche.

The Un-Wave
· Hold Pureology Sea-Kissed Texturizer Salt-Free Tousle Mist 12” from hair, spray entire head and then blow dry in for texture.
· Starting at the top front of the head, create section with fingers, spray section with Pureology Sea-Kissed Texturizer Salt-Free Tousle Mist again, comb out with fingers and wrap the roller around section so it’s tight to the head and the ends are left out and pin roller to secure. Do the entire top of head.
· For the sides, create section with fingers, spray with Pureology Sea-Kissed Texturizer Salt-Free Tousle Mist again and roll one of the larger rollers up in the hair and just hold for 10 seconds. Then, unroll the hair and scrunch it so the while it cools more texture is being created.
· Once the sides are finished, take out all the top rollers and starting at the ends, use fingers to break up the wave, roughing up the texture at the same time.

From the PROS: Do you know what’s in your toothpaste? Why you should!

7c8e18_28b5950e66fa58289c06bad11a20e83c

COCONUT GROVE, FLORIDA– (January 18, 2016) – Each year, consumers spend around $20 billion on cosmetic and personal care items, with many of those purchases going to oral hygiene products. After all, we are a nation of people who strive to brush our teeth at least twice per day, floss daily, and use mouthwash. What we use to do this task is often something we don’t give a lot of thought to, but it can actually make a big difference when it comes down to the ingredients in the products.

“There are so many choices today that people often don’t know what to look for,” explains Dr. Bruno Sharp, a fourth-generation dentist who created a line of natural oral care products called Dr. Sharp Dentistry. “Plus, manufacturers can be clever in making it look like their products are a great choice, when really they contain harmful chemicals. The best way for consumers to keep them and their family healthy is to learn all they can so they can make informed choices when choosing products.”

Many toothpaste brands contain ingredients that may be health hazards or go against consumer values. When looking at the ingredients list and overall product, there are some things people should be aware of, including:

Most people have been led to believe that fluoride is a good thing to be in oral hygiene products, yet fluoride consumption has been linked to such health issues as hypothyroidism. To learn more about these adverse effects, visit www.fluoride-free.com.
Artificial colors and flavors. Many toothpastes that are created for children contain artificial colors and flavors in an effort to get them more interested in using the products. These artificial colors and flavors are not healthy for the children to use.
Non-BPA free bottles and tubes. There has been a lot of news regarding the health problems that may be associated with plastic that is made with the BPA chemical. Consumers are better off opting for a product that does not have BPA in the packaging.
Harmful ingredients. There are some ingredients that are used in some toothpastes that should be avoided, including sodium lauryl sulfate, parabens, alcohol, triclosan, DEA, gluten, and propylene glycol. Plus, some toothpastes use genetically modified ingredients, so it’s best to look for one that is non-GMO.
Products that are not cruelty free. Most consumers are not aware of the fact that many of the oral hygiene products they are purchasing have been involved in animal cruelty, such as animal testing, or may contain animal-based ingredients. The good news, is that there are products on the market that are PETA certified cruelty free and vegan, so they do not contain any animal products at all.
“Brushing our teeth is something we do daily throughout our lives, so we have to get the products right,” added Dr. Sharp. “If we choose natural products that are safe, we will be helping to protect our health. It just comes down to knowing what to look for and what to avoid.”

Dr. Sharp created a line of oral hygiene products to give people a healthier alternative. His product line includes wild berry kids toothpaste, fresh mint with green tea adult toothpaste, fresh mint mouthwash, and dental tape. All products are safe to use, and are gluten free, have no artificial colors or flavors, are vegan, non-GMO, alcohol free, fluoride free, and cruelty free. Plus, they help whiten teeth and have xylitol, which is a natural sweetener that also helps to fight off cavities. The products are safe for the entire family. The products will be showcased at the Natural Products Expo West in March 2016, in the “hot products” section.
