Balayage Trend: With celebrities like Jessica Biel and Sarah Jessica Parker leading the charge, Balayage is sweeping the nation. What started as a grass-roots movement in the hair world, celebrity influences have made this artistic and personalized highlighting service something that everyone is coveting. Whether it’s minimal with low-maintenance (tone on tone shades of dark to light chocolate) or more classic like a California Blonde (sunny and warm or bright and icy), the endless options are what makes this service so desirable. Every girl can become an “it girl” with this gorgeous, light-reflecting hair trend!

Hair Chalk: Straight from the runway, watch for Loreal Professionnel’s launch of hair chalk, now available at Butterfly Studio Salon as one of the first salons to offer this service/product. Think of it as make-up for your hair! The range of colors includes 3 “natural” and 5 “fashion” shades, giving the user plenty to play with. It washes out with shampoo and lasts for approximately 10 washes. It’s a fast add-on service at the salon, great for those who love to play with change or are curious about starting a hair-coloring journey. Hair chalk can also be applied with the Balayage method which gives the artist the freedom to create anything on a particular hairstyle – completely customized for the client.

Redheads: In the past few seasons, redheads have been seriously downplayed and are making a strong comeback for 2014. For your perfect redhead look, keep skin tone in mind: cooler, darker shades of red for darker hair color bases and cooler skin tones, and warmer, more golden coppery shades of red for lighter hair color bases and more pale skin tones. Rose gold is making a bold statement in 2014 color trends with celebrities like Rachel McAdams and Jessica Chastain, both sporting this hot rose gold hue.

Blondes: Blondes are cooling it down and bringing back vibrant ice-toned shades with silver hues. To make this look work for you, even if you have pale skin, ask your colorist to customize the perfect hue to compliment you. I feel the perfect icy blonde is achieved through balayage highlights and a Dialite photo finish (similar to a color gloss) to “ice” the cake. Think celebrities such as Julianne Hough, Cameron Diaz and Cara Delevigne. White hot is the way to go for 2014.

Brunettes: Brunettes are extremely versatile for 2014. You are seeing everything from iced cappuccino brunettes a la Mila Kunis to mahogany-based brunettes and everything in between. A new ombré-like look is sweeping the hair color world as the “sombre” effect. This look tones down the drastic former ombré to a much more subtle ombré, where there is a gradual fluidity from a darker base to brighter ends. Think Kim Kardashian’s new look where she is predominantly brunette with subtle light pieces on her ends or Natalie Portman who is also rocking a “sombre” look right now.

After reading Dr. Lancer’s book YOUNGER, being a beauty editor and a real advocate for skin care, I must say that YOUNGER will be taking it’s place front and center in my office library’s beauty and skin care section for easy access, as it is a book that will be read and referenced many times!

I’m so happy to be able to share YOUNGER with you!

There are so many new ingredients and products in the market place these days. It’s often difficult to know what is best for your skin, your budget, and more so, if the products you buy will work!!

YOUNGER is very interesting, educational, and super easy to understand! I found it not only enhanced my experience in using The Lancer Method trio , but after reading all of its anti-aging benefits and Dr. Lancer’s theory behind caring for your skin, it was like a light going on, and the process really made a lot of sense to me!

Quoting Dr. Lancer, “ This program (The Lancer Method) is a game changer that enhances the way your skin operates beneath the surface.” Simply stated, it works on the top layer of your skin (the epidermis), but it’s benefits work their way down to the dermis which “is the thick layer of living tissue below the epidermis that forms your true skin. You’ll be able to find out so much more when you read YOUNGER! Dr.Lancer articulates a thoroughly educational presentation within this book that not only clarifies each step of The Basic Lancer Method (Polish, Cleanse, and Nourish), but also details an Anti-Aging Method for your body from head to toe, as well!

Dr. Lancer even provides product recommendations for face and body in Luxury, Moderate , and Affordable price categories to give you price options whatever your budget may be!! Dr. Lancer “Fine Tunes” his Anti-Aging Method for Acne-Prone skin, Sensitive Skin, and Rosace-Prone Skin as he targets each of the above skin types in depth , and once again offers product choices in Luxury, Moderate and Affordable categories to specifically help you care for your particular skin type. You’ll be more educated about options for getting your acne, rosace, and sensitive skin under control, and how to gradually move into a more advanced treatment , as well! If you have one of the skin issues listed above, you’ll find many of your questions answered in this section of YOUNGER!

The Lancer Anti-Aging Lifestyle presents some sound advice and techniques to combat stress as you “quiet your mind, while you calm your body”! For me, that chapter really “hit” home! Stress can truly effect your skin, health, and well being. Dr. Lancer gives you the “how and why” of stress and has so many great techniques to help you learn to control and relieve your stresses, and even help you with sleeping problems.

The Lancer Anti-Aging Diet chapter is very thorough, and provides valuable information that you’ll find quite useful in your daily life. He’s even included two lists of various food sources that help “during and after menopause as hormone replacement therapy”. His list of “Top Foods To Be Younger” is exceptional! I was so thrilled to see that “Berries” were near the top of the list ! I eat a cup of blueberries each morning, that are (quoting Dr. Lancer) “loaded with antioxidants that neutralize free radicals, contribute to collagen production, and the darker the berry the higher the content of vitamin C and E.” It was really great to know I’m on the right track! You too will feel the same way when you read YOUNGER! You can’t even imagine all of the interesting information you’ll find in this area of the book!

In closing, Dr. Lancer zeros in on “Moving To Younger” and physical activity. He mentions how “lack of physical activity is creating a health crisis in the U.S. as well as across the globe that is aging us inside and out.” For your skin, to assist with stress, and most of all your health, you must get moving!! I really like Dr. Lancer’s style as he explains easy ways to combat inactivity that you really cannot make excuses for to not fit into your lifestyle, and… there is a great “Basic Pilates Workout” from Debbi Monahan, “a leading Pilates trainer who transforms the bodies of many of today’s outstanding models and celebrities!” I love Pilates and how it can increase your inner sense of wellness, provide a fit look to your body, improve your co-ordination, flexibility…. and more!

In addition, if you are like me and want to peruse and learn about the different procedures that are available, and a view the list of all of Dr. Lancer’s skin care products, you’ll be able to find these in the appendix of YOUNGER.

Put Dr. Lancer’s book YOUNGER on your “MUST HAVE” list, and consider trying The Lancer Method Trio! After personally experiencing them both, I can easily recommend them to you, and present Dr. Lancer with a 5-STAR Review for each of them!
