The beauty and the bruising
DerMend
Since I was a child, I bruise easily. My Mom was always so concerned she sought after several doctors to find out why. Well, I guess I just easily bruise although sometimes my B-12 gets low and I do bruise more than my usual “lots of bruises” at those times. I have got photos of some of my bruising, which I may post in a follow up posting. They are a bit embarrassing. Generally, they appear on my upper thighs and arms but strangely, they sometimes show up in the oddest places and in small clusters. In winter, it’s not so bad as the bruising is hidden but in Spring and Summer, it’s quite frustrating as I love wearing dresses with bare legs and tanks and shorts.
I use Arnica Montana after a recommendation from a dermatologist, orally and topically, when I notice more bruising appearing or when I bump myself and know the results will be “black and blue”.
I recently tried the DerMend brand of moisturizing bruise formula. It’s easily available at drugstores like Walgreens and CVS Pharmacies and mass retailers like WalMart. It has Arnica in the formulation. It indicates that it is “Dermatologist Recommended” right on the top of the tube. That caught my eye. The formula contains alpha hydroxy acid also. The combination of that and Arnica seems right on to me.
I have not been using it regularly and the directions indicate that you should use it twice daily. I am not the beast with routines. I will be more committed in the future. The first time I tried it, the first words I said were “it goes on nice”. It smells pleasant too and absorbs well.
I am headed to New York for a business trip and inevitably, I will return with bruises. I am taking along the DerMend bruise formula with me and I will use it twice daily. Last trip to NY, I really tripped, well, rather just full on fell onto my knees while climbing stairs. The bruising was crazy bad and almost instant. This time, I am traveling prepared with the cream and some comfy shoes for walking. Typing and thinking this reminded me of my days attending the Emmy’s as a publicist, yikes! The bruises I got every time there…wow! There are really just too many people in the outdoor crowds there. Bumping and banging into each other to see the stars.

So Pink by Gap
So Pink Eau De Toilette Natural Spray Vaporisateur by Gap- I Love it! I sprayed just a bit on and I could pick up the citrus note right away. I especially love citrus scents for this time of the year. My Fall Cornucopia decorative fruit basket is filled with grapefruit, oranges, clementines and pummelos.
There is a flowery scent there too. Lilly I guessed and I was right. I found the description at walmart.com and it mentions sweet pea and musk scents also. It’s $32.99 there with free shipping.
I love that the spray is a well regulated fine mist. I mist it on my body, just about everywhere and a quick mist to my hair. I also mist my clothes the night before I wear them. I always feel like a kid when I sometimes spray the mist and walk right thorough it after a shower!
So Pink comes in a simple but classy pink and white box (pictured). The formula seems to be tinted with pink which reflects through the bottle so it displays wonderfully.
I have been having fun with layering scents lately. I layered So Pink by Gap over a Bath & Body Works Fine Mist of Golden Magnolia Sun and the combo smelled great.

A Breast Cancer Awareness Event Celebrating Life, Survival & Purpose

Cancer Awareness Event
The Chapman Foundation Inc. and its Official Media Partner SHEEN Magazine united to present the 4th annual Pynkalycious Breast Cancer Awareness Event. The Breast Cancer Awareness Event was held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 9:00am at the Nirvana Cultural Center in Fountain Inn, South Carolina. The signature event began with Editor-In-Chief of SHEEN MAGAZINE Sammi Haynes and the Director Cristina Vinansky welcoming all the attendees to the celebratory event. Editorial Assistant Regina Gilmore followed with the occasion and explained how Pynkalycious was birthed. Harmony Fitness & Spa’s Luzda McCollough took to the stage to help everyone get prepared for the 4k walk with purpose, with a high-energy warm-up. Following the 4k, everyone returned inside to enjoy a performance from Fiya Dance Team, select gifts courtesy of the sponsors, various vendors and food. The culminating portion of the event concluded with testimonials from Breast Cancer Survivors and a balloon release in memory of those who
lost their battle to this deadly disease.
In 2008, Editor-In-Chief Sammi Haynes lost his mother to her battle with cancer, impacting his life drastically. SHEEN Magazine is a platform deemed as the voice for the modern day woman, so it was only befitting to use this channel to evoke a consciousness of our health and the value of visiting the doctor.
The event is designed to create awareness, education and support for the constituents in the upstate area. Pynkalycious is a huge celebration of life, survival and purpose of those impacted by breast cancer. According to the research conducted by Susan G. Komen, breast cancer claims a life every 74 seconds. The aggressive disease not only affects the lives of those diagnosed, but it takes a toll on their families as well. For this reason, it was only appropriate for Pynkalycious to be a family affair for the community of Fountain Inn, South Carolina.

Once again, led by their fearless leader, TV analyst, host and human & civil rights attorney Areva Martin, the evening was a total smash hit!

The Bold & The Beautiful’s Sean Kanan served as Master of Ceremonies and OWN’s Karamo Brown hosted the evening’s red carpet. Glamorous celebrities, dignitaries and others strutted their finest formal attire all in the spirit of raising money for worthy and deserving children.
