Wine Stained Lips? Wine Stained Teeth? Don’t Be Embarrassed Again.

A few quick fixes (and proper prep) means you can have your wine and drink it too.

According to the experts at Colgate, “The pigments in wine cling to surface plaque.” So it’s a good idea to brush before you indulge.  The American Dental Association makes us aware that wine is highly acidic and that “exposure to acid can wear down enamel, thus making your teeth vulnerable to decay or tooth sensitivity. Vigorous brushing to get rid of stains can cause even more damage, so be sure to use a softer touch after your wine drinking.”

Dry lip skin makes wine stains  more likely to stick around. If your lips lack moisture and are dry, exfoliate before you drink. You can use a dry clean toothbrush, a soft face towel, or a DIY lip exfoliate. Our friends at Nivea say that when exfoliating lips, “Be gentle. Don’t exfoliate lips too hard. Don’t over exfoliate. Limit your lip exfoliation. Always moisturize after exfoliating.”

Wine Spectator magazine gives us this tip from Dr. Sivan Finkel, a Manhattan-based esthetic dentist and clinical instructor at New York University’s College of Dentistry.  “Immediately after drinking wine, or in between glasses, if you swish water around in your mouth, you’ll get some of those stains off,” he said.

Hair Bows Are Back As Seen On Actress Danielle Fishel. Celebrity Stylist Laurie Heaps Perfects The Look.

Hair bows are back and better than ever. Fall’s hottest hair accessory is making its way from the runway to the red carpet. Celebrity hairstylist Laurie Heaps created the perfect “Half Style” for actress Danielle Fishel this week, completing the partially up, half down look with a jet black, velvet bow. She tells us how she did it below.

To begin, I applied a cocktail of two key products after I shampooed and conditioned Danielle – a mixture of White Sands Liquid Texture Medium Thermal Spray to serve as a heat protectant (hair gets shinier as you use this spray with more heat!) and Redken’s Align 12 Protective Smoothing Lotion to work as a straightening balm. This product gives you more control over each section when drying while also strengthening the hair.

Once applied thoroughly and combed through from roots to ends, I dried her hair in large sections using a round brush and the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer.

I then curled her whole head with 1 1/2″ Curling Iron from Hot Tools for extra-large, bouncy waves. A barrel this size gives a continuous “S” shape, creating a loose, airy curl.

Next, I sectioned the hair in front of the ears and applied IGK’s Rich Kid Coconut Oil Gel and brushed it up into a high pony on the crown, securing it with a clear, elastic bungee.

For an extra sleek finish, I continued to smooth the hair down around the face with BioSilk’s Silk Therapy Firm Hold Finishing Spray and a toothbrush. This catches even the tiniest of baby hairs.

To complete her look, I added a bow from Henningsen & Co. Known as their Petite Rogue Bardot Bow, this accessory is a bold statement piece instantly adding elegance and flair to any hairstyle, particularly this half up, half down style. It is set on a matte-black clip which makes it the perfect bow to attach to a high, sectioned off ponytail like this.

Everybody has something that they don’t like about themselves. For me, it’s my scars. I have mild cystic acne scarring and surgery scars. Some I embrace. Some I hate.

With my acne, I was too young to think about the long term effects of my pimple popping. When I had the laparoscopy surgery, I thought the scars would fade after time. They didn’t. The skin cancer surgery scars range in age from 2 years to 15 years. It was not until just that 2 years ago that I realized there are skin therapy products to minimize scars.

MAKES 3–4 BOMBS

 

WHO DOESN’T LOVE THE TANGY FRAGRANCE OF A FRESH, RIPE TANGERINE? THIS VIBRANT FIZZER WILL HAVE YOU CANCELING YOUR EVENING PLANS IN FAVOR OF A SOAK!

 

2¼ CUPS (497 G) BAKING SODA

1¼ CUPS (288 G) GRANULAR CITRIC ACID

¼ CUP (24 G) CORNSTARCH

¾ CUP (180 ML) OIL

1 TEASPOON TANGERINE FRAGRANCE

½ TEASPOON ORANGE LIQUID COLOR

3–4 SPHERE-SHAPED MOLDS

 

1 In a large bowl, mix together the baking soda, citric acid, and cornstarch, and divide into two equal parts.

 

2 Separately, combine the oil and fragrance, and divide into two equal parts, coloring half orange and leave the other half uncolored.

 

3 Add the oil mixtures to each batch of dry ingredients and combine.

 

4 Mix each batch separately with your hands until each mixture becomes the consistency of wet sand. Wash and dry your hands between each mixing segment. (If you don’t like to get your hands messy, you can wear rubber gloves for this part.) The more vigorous your mixing style, the better the ingredients will be distributed, so don’t be shy. Five minutes of stirring, compressing, and kneading should do the trick.

 

5 As you press the mixture into the molds, gently swirl the orange and white mixes together with a spoon handle.

 

6 Press the mold halves together and let the bombs dry for 24–48 hours.

 

7 Once they are completely dry, remove them carefully from the molds. If you only have one mold, you can also gently remove the bombs as you make them and lay them out to dry on a flat surface. Try not to touch them until they harden.

I personally love that it goes on smoothly with no stinging or irritation. I use it twice a day. On my face and neck and decolletage. My upper lip lines are bothersome to me and my neck is starting to get some wrinkles and is a bit crepey.

The Ung / Young Line Smoothing Serum seems to be the start of something great for my skin!  The other gals here got to try a dab of the serum but I snatched it up super quickly for myself!  Thank goodness I did.
