WHATS IN YOUR SUNSCREEN?

UnSun

Daily sunscreen protection is the number one prevention method for skin cancers, but DO YOU KNOW WHATS IN YOUR SUNSCREEN?

Your skin absorbs chemicals, many of which may be harmful to your skin so opt for a mineral-based sunblock.

Katonya Breaux, founder of UNSUN COSMETICS, developed a mineral based sunscreen that is not only natural and organic but formulated to blend evenly on the skin. This residue-free application allows for UNSUN to be inclusive for women of ALL COMPLEXIONS AND SKIN TONES.

With recent FDA warnings, it’s important to be educated on sunscreen. Do your research!

Summer OOTD: Achieve The Perfect Look For Summer

Summer is just around the corner and we just can’t wait to feel the sun’s rays warming our skin. The summer season is one of the most awaited times of the year and for good reason: It’s sundress and shorts time!

Vintage ootd

In this article, you will learn more about how to achieve the perfect #OOTD this summer. So, sit back, relax and heed the waves’ call! Continue reading below to learn more and don’t forget to take mental notes.

1) Bringing Back Denim

Well, surprise! If you are one of those denim fans out there who just can’t get enough of jeans, fret not because you can still wear denim and stay cool this summer season. Denim skirts and shorts are your best friend this summer. Pair your favourite denim with a low-cut sneakers of choice (preferably white) and a simple, airy sleeveless top for a cutesy but cool look.

2) Accessorize Wisely

It’s summer but it doesn’t mean you can’t wear your beloved jewelry! However, given the warmer temperatures of summer, you need to pick your accessories wisely. The experts at Love & Promise Jewelers recommend to stay away from cheap costume jewelry that can turn green when in contact with sweat. This can ruin a perfect OOTD and make you look tacky. Instead, go for pieces that are high-quality and elegant. Choose a simple necklace that is both easy on the eyes as well as flattering on your neck.

3) Sundresses

Of course, summer will not be complete without sundresses. The thing to love the most about sundresses is that they are very versatile. You can dress them up with pair of stilettos and you’re ready for a summer night-out with the girls. You can also play it more casual and pair them with white sneakers or a pair of flats for a boho chic look.

In choosing a sundress, you should consider your body type for a more flattering fit. Of course, women with hourglass figures can pull off just about any style of dress. However, if you want to emphasize and show off those curves, wraparound summer dresses are the best choice.

If you are a pear-shaped gal, you may want to show off those beautiful hips with A-line sundresses. This creates an illusion of a narrower waist and an irresistible curve. Lastly, if you are an apple-shaped woman with a thick middle, you may want to consider creating the impression of a more elongated torso by drawing attention away from the waist.

4) Go For Pastel Colors

Look and feel cool with pastel colors this summer. Pastel colors have a cooling effect on the eyes. Unlike the darker colors on the color spectrum, lighter colors absorb less heat and are easier on the eyes especially during warmer weather. Pair them with neutral colors like white or beige and see how chic your outfit can look.

5) Go Easy On The Makeup

Next to hydration, sunscreen is the most important thing that your skin needs this summer season. After moisturizing with an oil-free moisturizer, apply a liberal amount of sunscreen before putting on your foundation.

Moreover, go easy on the makeup. Summer isn’t fun when you have heavy makeup melting off your face. Instead of a full coverage foundation, a dewy BB Cream or tinted moisturizer is a better fit for the humid months of the season.

Are Your Outdated Windows Causing Too Many Problems?

There’s a big difference between having well-maintained windows that are original to your home’s unique architecture versus windows that are just plain old and outdated. Especially if you live in a heritage home or a home with a distinct architectural style, you are likely familiar with the importance of maintaining your traditional home’s windows.

For heritage homes and old buildings that require restoration to maintain their character, “old” isn’t a bad thing. But if you’re living with outdated windows that show the signs of wear and tear and are failing to keep your home insulated, then it’s time to consider replacing those models with new, updated, energy efficient models that will improve the look of your home as well as its functionality.

How do you know if the issues caused by old windows are affecting your home? Here’s a list of what to look for in outdated window models.

Air and Water Leaks

When the airtight seal is broken on old, outdated windows, your home is exposed to the elements from outdoors. You might have noticed fluctuating temperatures inside your home, or moisture that collects around your window panes. Seal failure can go unnoticed for some time until you actually start to visibly see condensation forming between window panes, water damage or mold on the window frames, or you notice that your energy bill is abnormally high.

Stubborn or Sticky Windows

Windows that are difficult to open and close are more than just an inconvenience, they don’t provide an airtight seal and they are vulnerable to intrusion. Window hardware issues usually come about by debris that’s built up on the tracks of the windows, causing parts to break down or frames to start warping.

Don’t ignore this window issue, a window that’s hard to open can be seriously problematic if you need to use a window as an exit in an emergency. What’s more, the fact that the windows don’t rest properly on their tracks or that the locks don’t work makes your home vulnerable to intruders. If cleaning your tracks and adding lubricant isn’t enough to bring your windows back to life, then replacement windows are your only solution.

Noise Pollution

Modern window models come with double or even triple panes that do well to insulate your home against extreme temperatures as well as loud sounds and noise. If it sounds like you’re standing in the middle of the street when you’re in your living room, then your outdated windows need to be updated in order to bring peace and quiet to your indoors. Old windows let lots of noise in from the outside, and if they’re rattling in their frames or whistling in the wind, then you’ve also got those noises bombarding your ears.

Warped or Infested Wood

Wooden window frames look excellent when they’re in top condition. They add warmth to a home and can complement the style of a building such as a log cabin or a more rustic architectural style. But wood windows require a high level of maintenance otherwise they are vulnerable to issues like wet wood rot, wood warping, or even insect infestation.

At the first sign of these issues, get in touch with a reliable window retailer and installer and they can give you an expert consultation on your replacement options for new problem-free, easy-to-maintain windows.

3 Ways To Launch Your Own Beauty Line

A beauty business can help you earn a reasonable amount of cash because many consumers need makeup, lipstick, and other accessories on a regular basis. If you want to make an impact, you must pick a practical niche, develop high-demand products, and market the items efficiently. In this guide, you’ll learn how to launch a beauty company that features your own unique product line.

Develop the Products

Before you select a niche, research the rules and regulations for beauty products. In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration sets these guidelines. This organization has policies for packaging, labels, and other aspects of the beauty manufacturing process. If you study everything on the official website, you can implement proper manufacturing procedures and avoid legal problems.

When selecting a niche, consider your specialty. For example, if you have some experience with makeup, this should be your target market. However, in order to gain an edge over the competition, you’ll need to make your niche concept stand out. As a makeup business, you could attract customers by offering low-cost

  • Mineral blends
  • Organic options
  • Special effect products

The best way to stay financially stable after launching a new beauty business is by focusing on one specialty. You shouldn’t try to promote products that you’ve never used because you’ll waste a lot of money learning the market.

Acquire a Physical Store

To sell your products, you’ll need a great location and a storefront. There are two ways to acquire a storefront. If you going to operate your business for a long time, a lease is a great option, or you can save cash by renting a space.

No matter how you acquire a space, you’ll need extra money to update the building. You’ll need signage, sales banners, and other things that reflect your brand.

Run a Beauty E-commerce Store

A local store will only help you reach customers in your neighborhood and nearby areas. If you want to grow and dramatically boost your profits, develop an e-commerce division. To launch an e-commerce store, you’ll need a website, a payment processor, and a great marketing strategy.

Many businesses provide websites that users can customize with their own products. These platforms usually have easy-to-use templates and trendy themes. The templates let users change the layout of a website, and the themes modify graphics and other designer elements. If you work with this type of company, you can build a professional beauty website with ease in a timely manner.

After your beauty store is launched, it will need traffic, and the best way to drive visitors to the site is by using content marketing services while running social media marketing campaigns. Social media is a strategic platform that you should use during early marketing projects because the traffic is highly targeted. For example, you can display ads to people who may be interested in your product. Content marketing compliments social media marketing projects because it boosts search engine traffic.

Travel In Style: Creating A Capsule Wardrobe For Every Trip

With short breaks and extended weekend vacations becoming more and more popular, it’s never been more important to master the art of creating a capsule wardrobe. If you don’t have the luxury of a 20kg baggage allowance, and you have a trip coming up, here are some top tips to help you travel in style.

woman walking on beach sand

Beach breaks

Packing for a beach trip should be relatively easy, especially if the forecast is looking good and you’re all set for sunshine and blue skies. The secret to successful packing lies in creating outfits that are versatile, and going for pieces that you can take from beach to bar or pool to restaurant. Items like jersey maxi dresses, for example, are ideal. You can stroll along the beach, meander through markets or raise a glass at sunset without changing anything but your accessories. Opt for a casual bag, flat sandals, and bangles for a low-key look, or add a statement necklace, a clutch and some wedges for a smarter evening look. When it comes to swimwear, pack separates that you can mix and match, for example, patterned tops and plain pants and vice versa, and add kaftans, lightweight playsuits and oversized cotton shirts to go from the beach to a cafe for lunch.

Business meetings

If you’re traveling for work, plan ahead. It’s always good to be organized and to know what you’re going to wear. This will save you time and stress when you land. Mix and match staples like fitted trousers, pencil skirts and shift dresses with blouses, shirts, and simple camisoles with a jacket. If you’re wearing smart shoes, don’t forget shoe horns. If it’s going to be hot at your destination, look for lightweight pieces that are still formal, for example, tailored linen trousers or pleated midi skirts and add a short-sleeve blouse, or go for a maxi or midi shirt dress.

City slicking

City breaks can pose a challenge when it comes to packing. The first thing to do is check the weather. This will give you an idea of what kinds of clothes you need to take. The next consideration is your plans when you get there. What are you going to see and do? How much walking is involved in the itinerary? With most city breaks, it’s wise to pack a pair of comfy shoes like trainers or pumps and to add a smarter pair of shoes for going out in the evenings. Wedges and block-heeled sandals are usually a good choice for warm weather. In the daytime, if it’s hot and sunny, keep things simple with lightweight maxi skirts and dresses, shorts and cotton jumpsuits. If you have separates, for example, denim shorts and a black maxi skirt, you can swap tops and add accessories to get a host of looks from a single piece.

If you’ve only got a small bag, and you need to pack light, putting together a vacation capsule wardrobe is the way forward. Hopefully, these tips will enable you to create perfect looks no matter where you are or what the occasion.
