Get The Look of the Stars

At this past weekend’s Billboard Awards, stars kept their hairstyles clean and off the face. Here is one of our top choices, along with a step-by-step from UNITE Hair on how to recreate this style at home:

Step One: Prep hair with a lightweight volumizer by spraying it throughout on damp strands. Try the UNITE Boosta Spray ($26.25).

Step Two: Section off hair from the front of your hairline and tease it back, using a comb. Next, pin this (now voluminous) section with a bobby pin to secure it in place. Step Three: Create a bouncy ponytail by pulling hair up and wrapping it with an elastic band.

Step Four: Spray hair all over with the UNITE GO365 Hairspray ($31) to complete this look.

Uma Thurman Red Carpet Hairstyle

I Love all things celebrity. Especially their hairstyles 🙂

Silver screen siren, Uma Thurman, always looks impeccable on the red carpet. At last night’s annual Metropolitan Ball, she took a walk on the wild side for the punk theme, chaos to couture; and didn’t disappoint in a striking poison ivy green chartreuse Zac Posen gown that was simply stunning. As she crossed the red carpet her fashion was flawless, paired perfectly with a full, sleek, high pony tail, a classic up-do. She trusted her tresses to her long-time stylist, David Babaii. To emphasize Uma’s bone structure and voluminous long hair, David placed a ponytail at the crown of her head for a polished look. To ensure her hair was red carpet ready and fabulously full, David recommended she begin taking Viviscal, a supplement designed to nourish hair and promote growth.

David Babaii commented on Uma’s sleek strands, “What’s been amazing is that I notice the texture of Uma’s hair is different now, the elasticity is better, the density of each lock of hair is thicker and longer, it holds a style better and overall it has been amazing to work with since I recommended she start Viviscal. To be honest, it has made my life easier as her hair is longer, more luscious, and just amazing.”

Wella Professionals Transform Anne Hathaway for the 2013 Met Ball

Anne Hathaway goes Platinum Blonde!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RED CARPET HAIR BY SASCHA BREUER USING WELLA PROFESSIONALS

Hair Look:

Celebrity Stylist Sascha Breuergave Anne Hathaway a strong punk yet glam hair look for the 2013 MET Ball that was held in New York City tonight.

“Drawing inspiration from unforgettable punk icons like Poly Styrene from X-ray Spex and Joan Jett, I decided to go for a look that’s glam, edgy and yet very youthful and fun. We kept the style much shorter for Anne and had a lot of fun playing around with it. To enhance her punk look further we decided to take her hair to the next level: A new cool Platinum blonde color and the sharp slightly boyish finish with loads of texture were the perfect match,” says Sascha Breuer.

Step-By-Step Styling

1.       Start by applying a golf ball sized amount of Wella Professionals Extra Volume Mousse to damp hair for the perfect foundation and to provide hold and volume.

2.       Blow dry the hair into shape using your fingers or a skeleton brush. Dry the longer hair on top back and upwards by gently pulling the hair away from the scalp to boost the volume and some lift to it.

3.      Push brush and dry the sides flat to the head backwards allowing them to set narrow to the head.

4.       Once the hair is completely dry use a small amount of Wella Professionals Bold Move styling paste. Spread the paste evenly between the palm of your hands and work the product through the mid length and ends to create a deep, slightly messy texture.

5.       Mist hair with Wella Professionals Stay Firm Finishing Spray to ensure that your style will last all night.

“The Taming of the ‘Do” Hair Show in Orlando, FL

When you love something as much as I do, you will go to the ends of the earth to make sure that you learn and study everything you can about it.  I have been a licensed hairstylist now for 5 years and every day is a new learning experience and a challenge.   Many people think that a hairstylist learns everything in school. That is VERY, VERY wrong. The real education of a stylist comes with their first job behind the chair.  We learn the basics in school; it’s kind of like learning you ABC’s.  It is up to us to continue to grow and learn more.  Ask any celebrity hairstylist, or top stylist and they will tell you everything I just said.

Why am I telling you this, you are probably thinking?  On Monday, April 29, I took my skills to the next level at a hair show in Orlando FL, called The Taming of the ‘Do at the Shakespeare Theatre.  It was there that I learned the latest trends and techniques that I will use in my career.   Have you ever heard of a Texture Reformation? Maybe you remember it as a perm.  How about a texture reformation wrapped with pot scrubbers? Yes, POT SCRUBBERS.  That was the coolest thing I ever seen in my life.  Or a 4 strand braid up style? The latest cutting techniques?  With so much more to learn and share with others, I will never stop learning.

When I go to a show like that, it reminds me why I became a hairdresser.  My dream is to be a hair guru.  I love hair and even though I have only been doing this for 5 short years, I know my goal is right ahead.

One of the most talked about looks this season is the slicked back bun. Worn high or low this knotted look works on every hair texture.

Here’s the secret to achieving this sleek and chic look, to share with your readers:

Wet is the New Dry

One of the biggest things I here from my clients in the salon is, “I have split ends” and “How can I prevent them”?  Your hair is very fragile when not treated with respect.  There are quite a few ways you can experience split ends.  To name a few, over processed hair, using the wrong shampoo for your hair type and even the use of the wrong hair brush.   Yes, the wrong hair brush can be the result of split ends. When your hair is wet it is in a very delicate stage.  When you tear through your hair with any old hair brush you are causing the bristles of the brush to act like razor cutting off little pieces of hair as you go.

With the newest product called “The Wet Brush” you can finally brush through your hair without causing breakage.  The secret is the IntelliFlex Bristles.  They are firm yet flexible ball tip bristles that go through your hair without ripping, and detangle with ease.  Even on my thick, unmanageable curly hair I can use the Wet Brush without having to put conditioner in my hair.  In addition, these bristles provide a massaging action that stimulates circulation on the hair follicle.

“The Wet Brush” is ideal for anyone who cringes at the thought of brushing their hair. Try it out for yourself and see what you think.  You will fall in love with it.

Sweet Dreams Are Made of This

Haven’t found the perfect Mother’s Day gift yet? Well, I have found the perfect gift Mother’s of any age can enjoy.  It is the new fragrance from Mariah Carey called Dreams. I can’t think of a better name than Dreams for a fragrance, especially one you are contemplating buying for your mama.  You will amaze your mom with this timeless light scent that is sure to have everyone asking her what she is wearing.

Mariah Carey’s Dreams is a light floral scent with top notes of salted caramel apple, star anise, bergamot and toasted almonds, Middle notes of honeysuckle, freesia and lily of the valley and Base notes of patchouli, Tonka bean and Madagascar vanilla that you can be sure will last throughout the day.  When Mariah was creating this lovely scent she described it as entering another world.  I know just what she meant. When you spray your signature fragrance on every day you enter your own little world. Wherever that may be, you know that fragrance is for you when your wildest “Dreams” come true.

“The process of developing a fragrance is exhilarating and it takes me to another place within my creative self, which is why I enjoyed creating Mariah Carey Dreams. I humbly call myself a ‘perfumer in training’ because I love it so much – almost as much as I love making music. I have the utmost respect for the perfumers because they have the ability to combine a few simple scents into a classic and exciting fragrance.” – Mariah Carey

So instead of hesitating what to buy mom, let her experience her own little world with Mariah Carey’s New fragrance “Dreams”.  Trust me after 18 years of raising children she deserves a little “getaway” into her dreams. Get your own bottle today simply by visiting your local Kohls Store or by visiting her personal site at http://www.mariahcareybeauty.com/
